A fallen warrior...A forgotten human...A love discovered.
STELLA - One minute I’m in my bed, the next…I’m not on Earth anymore. Twin suns beat down and the sounds that creep from the forest tell me all I need to know. I’m on an alien planet, and I’m not alone…
I’m being stalked by something terrifying and protected by someone who won’t show himself. I’m not sure what’s going to get me first, my shadowy guardian or the unnamed thing that haunts the night.
Either way, I have to stay alive, which means I have to keep running, whether he protects me or not.
TERX - I am an outcast from my own kind, roaming my ancestral lands searching for the truth.
The human female was not what I expected to find out here in the wilderness, her delicate beauty entrances me. The creature that hunts her doesn’t stand a chance against me, but I’m just as dangerous. Mating her will be our downfall, no matter how fated it is.
Our new enemy took my tribe, my family, and made me betray my Empire to save them. Then they killed them all anyway.
My heart tells me that saving her will heal everything. My head tells me to stay away and she will live. The end of my species draws near…they might need me, but all I want is her…
Traitor: Alien Hunter’s Mate is the fifth in the Haalux Empire series by Hattie Jacks. A warrior without a hope meets a human female trying to find who she is. Can their forbidden love can save the Empire?
Steamy and untamed, these fated mates provide the epic conclusion to the series…
This was such a fab finale, taking off from page one and never really looking back ;D Action, suspense, danger, twists and steamy romance abound in this exciting read. I loved seeing past couples (from the previous books) sprinkled in here, giving this read more depth...and also reader satisfaction ;) Can't wait to see what's next from this author.
I felt everything about this book was unrealistic the way the characters spoke to themselves and their head Considering The situation They both or in For example For the girl Who couldn't remember her own name but we're she came from She kept saying how hot he was. And the male was so trusting of the people who killed his tribe that they would return his parent without a double cross. Fantasy is one thing but I thing this went to far from our basic human nature. Might as well give someone a superpower.
This is the last book of the Haalux Empire Series! Since I have read the whole series, this review is going to be a little longer than most.
The whole series is great! BUT, I do not consider this particular book to be a stand-alone. It is the 5th book of the series, with multiple reoccurring characters and overarching themes that build across the series to culminate in this particular story. For instance - if you did not read book 1 - You will not even know who Terx is and this book does not provide enough of a backstory to be invested in him without book 1. So, do you have to read books 1-4 to truly understand book 5?
A resounding YES!
But, let me tell you something! The whole series is well worth it! And this book? A resounding great ending!
A few people think that some of the things that go on like the language, sexual scenes, discussions of kidnapping/abduction, trafficking, slavery, battles, death... are trigger warnings; and they are to some people. This book and series is not any worse than the rest of the genre in that aspect. In fact in a lot of ways the series is tame.
So, I have to be honest - if you love reading alien mate romance novels, those things don't bother you already. And if they do bother you - don't read anything in this genre, because that is what you are going to find and you most likely will not like them. Stick to a genre that doesn't have those things, because this genre (and I have read a ton of these books) has those things in almost every single book I have read. IT IS WHAT IT IS.
The few grammatical issues are not noticeable, either in this book or throughout the series! Unless you are a writer/editor you won't notice them at all. Every time I see someone's book bashed due to 'grammatical issues' nine out of ten times, I think it is an out of work editor who needs a job (or a life). Frankly, because I have seen too many reviews that bash books based on truly ridiculous things I feel I have to say this, ALL books have little things, and let's face it, most readers don't know a 'grammatical issue' when it jumps up and bites them. Especially if the story is good.
So, unless the book is written/edited by a sixth grader (then it might become unreadable), as long as books are edited by PEOPLE you can find a 'grammatical issue' in every single one of them. Every single one!!!
What really matters to READERS are The STORY and The CHARACTERS; because that is what is important! This series throughout all five books has those qualities!
This particular story itself and the characters (Terx and Stella) were really strong. Both of them were very flawed. Both had done some things that were treacherous! So why did I like it so much? The story was about redemption.
Plain and simple. Redemption for the sake of love. That's what makes a complex character driven story great - and this had it!
I highly recommend this story to readers who love alien-romance, sci-fi romance, and romance readers who like a little spice in their reading. You will find it highly enjoyable!
BTW - I don't know Hattie Jacks, but after this series I am sure I will be enjoying more of her work.
I DO NOT CONSIDER this to be a stand-alone read. It is the 5th (and last planned to date) story of the series, with multiple reoccurring characters and overarching themes that build across the series to culminate in this story. Failure to read in series order will result in lower reader satisfaction, a less than complete story universe, and spoilers from the previous stories.
Contains subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including some adult language, steamy intimate scenes and violence such as kidnapping / abduction, human trafficking, enslavement, betrayal, subterfuge, torture, assault, attempted rape, fighting with some to the death, etc.
There are quite a few grammatical issues throughout this story that include missing words (in, to, etc.), transposed words in a sentence, and misspelled words (to iso do). Regardless, I was still able to easily interpret so I didn’t lower the rating. This was based upon the strength of the story.
Warning: if you have not read the previous stories in the series, please be advised that the following may contain spoilers.
Last chance ….
Terx is a former Haaluxian Commander that became a traitor to his Empire because their enemy, The Unseen, held his parents hostage after killing his entire Tribe. A human female runs from the beasts that chase her, but she can’t outrun or hide from herself and the fact that she doesn’t know where or who she is …
Can the two of them figure out how to save his family, defeat The Unseen and help her recover any of her memories before it is too late?
What a great series !! So glad I got them all !!! 😃😃😃
Not sure, but I think this is the last book of this crazy series !!!
Terex is a warrior who ended up doing something terrible in the 1st book . Something so very bad that he has left his friends and crew and warrior brothers to live in isolation out on the plains of his youth. His tribe is gone. His family , save for his parents , are gone. He is now the Xarex's errand boy , he does what they want until he can remove his parents from their hold. Nasty bugs !!! The Xarex have tasked Terex with finding an experiment that they have lost. Ends up being a human female . He doesn't want to. But his family is being held captive. So he has no choice. Stella is not sure of anything. Not sure of her name . Not sure of who she is .Not sure why she is running. She knows that this is not earth. And this big, huge , iridescent grey guy before is most Definitely an alien !! And he is going to take her back. Back to where , she isn't sure. But she doesn't want to go back. That, she is sure of !!! As these two get to know each other , and has to depend on each other, A lot of mysteries become clear, and sacrifices must be made. Several people from previous books show up , and these earth girls are showing that they too can be warriors in their own right !! I laughed, and cried, and was sad and happy throughout this book . So, so very happy that I was along for this spectacular story !!!
👽 “My heart beats for you, forever.” ~~~ Stella wakes up on an alien planet with no memory of who she is. But she’s such a sweet and brave woman. And I admired her courage to sacrifice herself for Terx and the Haalux Empire. I really liked her.
Terx is branded a traitor. But the reason he did everything was so honorable. He’s such an amazing male - caring, protective and fierce. I loved him! And his parents were so great!
I loved the development of their relationship. It was such an emotional rollercoaster! Their attraction was instantaneous and their chemistry - scorching hot. But both were so lost, had a lot to overcome and were torn between duty, honor and love. In addition, there were some unexpected twists that made their story even more exciting. And after everything they went through, they more than deserved to find HEA with each other.
I also really liked how everything developed with the Unseen - these evil aliens absolutely deserved what they got. And I loved that we got to meet the couples from the previous stories again.
Overall, the story is a magnificent finale of such an awesome series. It’s filled with action, danger, betrayal, redemption, suspense, twists, turns, steamy romance and wonderful characters.
I couldn’t put it down and loved every page of it!
So here is the final book in the Haalux Empire. So we have been wondering who the Unseen are and with each book we get closer and closer. We also learn as to who is helping them try to take over the empire. So remember Terx from a few books back that turned traitor. Well holy heck do we learn a lot about him. How his tribe has produces Istvon and other things as well. Oh then there is Stella, a girl who cannot remember her past. Just when we think we get answers, bam here comes the twist. Terx finds Stella upon the Unseen's request. He is trying to find a way to get out of working for the Unseen. Why is he? There is always a reason and we do find out why. Back to Stella, what is her deal. What is she really trying to hide. Let me just say, it seems that aliens can sometimes underestimate humans. The chemistry with Stella and Terx is there. He is trying to keep from doing anything with her but then something happens and he wants to save her from a worst fate. Only to find out the bond is there for them. What will happen when he finds out the truth? What will happen when the whole truth comes out. This series was a crazy, amazing, sizzling adventure. I enjoyed each book and this one did not disappoint.
Traitor: Alien Hunter's Mate is the fifth book in The Haalux Empire series by Hattie Jacks. The series is made up of five steamy Sci-fi romances. I have enjoyed my first foray into Ms. Jacks work, pulled into all the action and adventure as these fated mates traversed all the ups and downs along the way to their HEA. With alpha alien warriors, politics, agendas, drama, angst, danger, tension, mystery, action, emotion, and lots of sizzle- this series certainly made it hard to put down for any length of time when the real world demanded my attention. The Series Contains: -Taken: Alien Commander’s Captive (Book #1) -> Commander Rexitor and Jayne’s story. -Crave: Alien General’s Obsession (Book #2) -> General Kylar and Tara’s story. -Havoc: Alien Captain’s Alliance (Book #3) -> Captain Bron, Lexi, and Rheon’s story. (MFM) -Bane: Alien Warrior’s Redemption (Book #4) -> Jak and Eve’s story. -Traitor: Alien Hunter’s Mate (Book #5) -> Terx and Stella’s story.
This has been a great introduction to Ms. Jacks work, and now I am looking forward to reading more of her books, asap. Happy Reading…
Stella is kidnapped by aliens and wakes up somewhere with twin suns. She also knows she is being stalked by The Unseen, generating fear but never showing itself. There is also another presence in the shadows who is her “protector”. But she won’t depend on whoever he is. She must keep on the move.
Terx is considered a traitor by his people. They didn’t know why he did what he did. Now he is protecting a human female in the dangerous wilderness. He knows The Unseen is after her. His enemy had killed his family, turned his people away from him, and now has a further plan to destroy him and everyone else. But they don’t know about the tough human woman who may surprise them. Will Terx save and protect her? Will he mate with her, as the enemy has planned? Will Stella choose him and fight beside him?
Grab your copy of this fast-moving story and find out if the enemy’s plan succeeds, or if Terx will accept his mate and be able to get back with his people.
This was a really good book. It had action, suspense, romance, and some drama. It also had some twists and turns I did not expect and that made it more exciting. This was my first book from this series and the first book I've read by this author. It was very well written and paced smoothly. Unfortunately since I hadn't read the previous books, when the story reached a point where the main couple are interacting with other Haalux warriors and their human mates, I got a little confused trying to remember who was who and what their relationship had been to Terx. There was also a challenge match between two of the warriors that felt a little random and out of place to me. But I really suspect that if I had read the previous books before this, it might have felt exciting to me or expected, and I probably would have appreciated all these new characters, which I'm sure are the main couples from the previous books.
An enjoyable read that kept me going non-stop until I finished it. 4 stars.
I have really enjoyed this series and was eagerly waiting to see what the author would do with this story. It does not disappoint. I liked how the female lead, Stella, was initially presented and how more of her past actions and thoughts were revealed. I also liked how the male lead, Terx, was presented - a traitor in the first book, his reasons were never previously explored and I liked seeing this worked through and that HE was positioned to rebuke others for them not asking questions earlier.
I liked how the characters’ relationship developed and how previous characters were woven through the story, allowing for us to see how their relationships are developing and to see them interact with these lead characters.
The story is dual POV, well written, and a great read and finale for the series. I received an advanced reader copy from the author and this is my honest and voluntary review.
I loved this book! How to explain without giving the game away at the end? There is always the brooding guy who is seen as bad. Some just are bad through and through without a care for anyone, then there are the others who are having to do something which goes against their nature but the reasons behind it are profoundly just. That is, when you actually find out why they have done what they have. Terx is the latter. He does have honour and because of this he blames himself when he shouldn't. Stella is not really sure who she is or where she is but she does know the basics. She cannot be on earth, this is not a dream, there are some pretty terrifying creatures out there and there is one who is more terrifying that the rest and yet he feels like home? He is definitely not human. Why is that? I have loved each and every book in this series so far. They are wonderful and will all be read again.
Stella finds herself on an alien planet with no memory of who she is or how she got there. Without memories she develops a personality in response to what goes on around her. When she is introduced to some of her former memories, she finds she doesn't feel any connection with the personality she used to have. The actions of her former personality make her doubt the Haalux will see her as being the helpful hero she wants to be.
Terx comes from a subculture on Haalux that differs greatly from the general Haalux culture. Their lives are simpler, more remote with their own traditions, and most are raised in nuclear families among a strong community. His link to family and community put him in a position where he needs to betray the empire to save those he loves. For both Terx and Stella, it is their past that places them in a position to be labeled as a traitor, but their new experiences and bonds together place them in a position to be recognized as heroes.
Terx, hiding in the forest near his tribal grounds, is a traitor for leading the Istvon into a trap perpetrated by the Unseen. He had good reasons, they held his parents hostage after decimating the whole tribe. Still under beck n call by the Unseen, they task him to return an escaped female. Stella is running thru the forest trying to escape an unknown source. She's not sure what exactly, just that she needs to flee. She has no memory of how she got there or who she is but a bracelet is engraved with the name of Stella. But that's not who she is or her true purpose. As Doctor Sarah she's working with the Unseen to destroy the Haalax empire. She coded her DNA to attract Terx n altered her gestation cycle for a swifter pregnancy. What will Terx think when he finds out all her secrets? More importantly, what happens when Stella regains her memory? I really enjoyed reading this whole series. Kudos to the author for stimulating my imagination.
I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Book 5 in the Haalux Empire series is face paced with characters who burrow their way into your heart and don't ever want to leave. These characters are realistic and the journey they take alone and together is enchanting and full of action. The romance, passion and heat is something to be craved. Hattie Jacks is an author who has shot to the top of my favorite author's list and I recommend any book with her name on the cover. Even though this is a series, the gooks are stand alone reads, but I would recommend reading them in order, because characters and events from previous books are mentioned.
Enjoyable sci-fi romance with the guilt ridden Terx and confused but strong Stella. Together they find what was missing from their lives even though human Stella was experimented on and enhanced to attract Terx. I liked the way Terx battled with his guilt and loyalty, determined to save his parents but also struggling with the way the unseen manipulated him in finding and retrieving Stella. Their building relationship was sweet. Their physical attraction was steamy and the storyline interesting enough to tie everything together.

This book never slowed down. You were on the move with the characters as they fight and flea The Unseen. Stella has had her memories erased. Sarah (Stella) was her real name but the Unseen needed someone to lure Terx to mate with Stella. She was to generate a generation of Haalux warrior to kill their own. They didn't figure on a humans love for their mate. This story has so much action, adventure, dangerous animals, huge battle, survival, passion and love. I'll let you read what else is in the story. Was a great story and I highly recommend it. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Terx has been labeled a traitor. By his people and is living insolation when he finds Stella. Stella wakes up to find herself on a planet with two suns and no memory of who he is, only a bracelet with her name on it. Trex is a hunter and Stella has just become his target, but can her turn in his mate to the ones who caused his downfall. This is a great book the plot is inventive and keeps you guessing until the end. I look forward to reading more by this author.

A fantastic read and end to this series. So loved Terx and Stella. It was pretty emotional at times, as well. And who knew, the Unseen would be the instigator of their own downfall! I enjoyed this pair coming together. There was much to their past lives that each had to come to terms with. It was also great to see the other characters again and all their mates still expecting! :) I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and look forward to more from the very talented Hattie Jacks.

Terx made a horrible choice to save his family and has been living in exile, serving the enemy. He received orders to retrieve a runaway female that chances his entire world. Stella has lost her memory when she is captured by Terx. Their trek back to the Unseen will change Stella in ways she never imagined. But when the truth comes out about their choices will their mate bond survive? What a great ending to the series! Stella’s background threw me for a serious loop. I loved it.
This story has a wide arc; from captor/captive to lovers, from traitor to hero, together Stella and Terx have a long tough road together, but love prevails. I loved the cameos from the other couples - the book still stands on its own, but having read the two before this one, I enjoyed seeing familiar faces again. Easy to read and action-packed, this novel was everything I hoped it would be.
This well-constructed book 5 in The Haalux Empire Book Series was intriguing with well-thought out scenes, characters and story. These well crafted characters have unique personalities, interesting histories and believable interactions. This story has the following: twists, turns, adventure, action, love, steam and a HEA. It is a well-paced and will keep you entertained from start to finish. A must read

This was the perfect conclusion to this series. The story of the traitor Terx and Stella is probably the best romance in the series. I found the resolution of the main storyarc deeply satisfying. The author has made me care about the Haalux and their human mates to a surprising extent and I will seriously miss them and their worlds.
I received an ARC of this book and freely chose to leave a review.
This book is super interesting and a bit different than the others in the series. Terx is redeemed by another traitor?? We see that not all is what it seems to be. While I love this story, I have several questions, but especially this one. Will Forat and Jaal be getting stories too? (Please say yes!) So if you want to know exactly what I am talking about then you will have to read this series to find out.
The fifth book in the Haalux Empire series a well written story that kept me turning pages. Human Stella and Terx of Uxah's story there is suspense, drama, danger, twists, turns, villains, and romance. I enjoyed reading. I've enjoyed reading this series so much and I hope that it continues on 😃. There's always great action, a wonderful storyline, awesome and sexy characters, with weird enemies too 😉. Thanks again Hattie, it's truly an amazing series and I can't wait to read more 🤓.
Engaging story with a couple who were made for each other (even genetically through experiments) complete with action and romance. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
