The thing is I never found pirates sexy. Well, one exception:
Promises promises
In reality they seem a little lax on the hygiene. Probably smell like fish. Also, the rapey thing..
Yeah, not romantic.
But authors are always trying, aren't they?
The pirate in this book is no exception to the rules. He makes a big deal about not forcing sex on any of the guys he sexes up, but then makes a comment about how he might let his men have a go at a girl and makes sure to protect his love interest from sleeping in the shared quarters. So..... he thinks he's innocent since he's not actually the rapist, but has a boatload of rapists that he takes from port to port?
So Captain Not-a-Rapist sees the teenager of his dreams and forces him to board his ship. So romantic!
They flirt-sail around until the sexual chemistry explodes and they have dirty pirate sex.
The good news is that in spite of the fact that the book is set on a ship (boring), and they don't shower (gross), and considering they are pirates they don't do much piratey stuff (lame), there were some good things here. There was a merman that was actually a merman, mages, and a big ol' curse hanging over his head. That helped.

Do you know that I’m a whore for pirates? 😂 Oops, my bad! I mean I’m a whore for swashbuckling pirate romances but I can’t in good conscience say that the first stated fact wasn’t true too. LOL 🤣👏 Anyhow, after reading “Axios” by Jaclyn Osborn and crying myself to sleep, (nope, you wouldn’t find my review on that book because I had to DNF at 70% not because it wasn’t one of the most beautiful novels I’ve ever read but because I couldn’t dealing with the unconventional ending 😭) I admit that I was a bit traumatized to read more of Jaclyn’s works. 😁 Until I found this book …. What a fucking glorious read! 😍 When I saw the announcement of the release of this book, I knew I couldn’t resist! 😉 First of all, how gorgeous that cover is! 😱 Sarah Jo Chreene really is a very talented artist and that cover really captured the essence of Fletcher and Kellan. 💜 And the blurb! Oh, the blurb, I mean pirates, mermaids, myths, gods and fantasy adventures! This poor Shin never stood a chance against such enticing blurb so I had to read it! 😂 And it was the best decision that I made these couple months. I couldn’t fault this book. I love it! Fletcher, the 19 years old orphan boy works in the local tavern. Being orphaned alone for so many years, he knew that having a place to lie down and being able to work in that tavern is one of the best blessings in his life. But he knew this wouldn’t last long for the business is not doing so well and for he also wanted more out of life. Life couldn’t be just about eating, sleeping and working in your local tavern .. right? 😌 He’d gaze endlessly to the azure sea in his leisure and think about all the adventures that await out there. And he got his wish a bit too soon. 😁
Cue and enter Captain Flynn aka the demon of the sea aka the most ruthless and notorious pirate known in the realms. Captain Flynn is not your usual protagonist who’s gruff on the outside and has a heart of gold. He really is a vile and cruel man who would do anything for gold. 😏 And for that, he was cursed. 💔 But life’s too short to ponder upon such dreadful curses when you can whore, drink and fuck to your heart’s content. Right? And Captain Flynn has decided just to do what when he entered the local brothel that night and then he met the most beautiful and innocent face with mossy green eyes and firey red hair. 😍 And because he’s used to getting whatever he wants, the captain decided that he has to have the boy. 😉
When all hell broke loose in the local tavern when a patron assaulted the serving boy Fletcher, he has no choice but to flee with just a lute and his personal diary. But the lad didn’t know the bigger devil awaits when he ran off to his favorite spot on the hill to escape everything and everyone. And thus begin the adventure of Fletcher the part-time bard and all time swab on a pirate ship called “Crimson”. 😁 Both men won’t voice how they desire each other and soon, they discover that the actually crave more than each other’s bodies. 😌 Meanwhile, there are far dangerous and unfathomably terrorizing things out there waiting them in the sea. Beautiful but lethal mermaids and nymphs, a curse that’s worse than death, a mutiny among pirates, blood mages and dark magic and the crown’s pursuit over the criminals of the century, Kellan and Fletcher sure have a lot to overcome to find their happily ever after. 😳 Will they prevail or will they fail in the end? 😱
I love how the story is very carefully and thoughtfully constructed from the very beginning. The mere facts and words that you thought were not important in the beginning turned out to play the vital roles in this story. I also love the fact that Kellan truly is a terrible and cruel man and how he was conquered by Fletcher’s kindness and love in the end. 😊 It was a beautiful and powerful love story. 💙 I also love the bromance that’s going on between Fletcher and Alek. And yes, I’m going to stalk our Jaclyn Osborn’s arse until I get the story of Alek and the nymph prince as soon as possible. 🤣👏 And let’s talk about UST! 😱 It was fucking sizzling! 🔥I mean so many authors attempt to write swashbuckling adventurous pirate romances but not all succeed as successfully as Miss Jaclyn. 👍 It was the perfect combination of lust, love, adventures, horrors, excitement and just enough of that bittersweet angst. 😌 I fucking loved it! 😍 I can’t get enough of it! I really REALLY can’t. The world building is so magical and detailed and ethereal and the MCs just as powerful and realistic and beautifully portrayed! ❤️ I really need more in this world and I hope to see many side characters from this story get their own merry HEAs. And kudos to Jac for making the love scenes between these two so erotic, romantic and loving. 🔥💙 I LOVE IT! Now what are you waiting for? Run off to whichever publisher you prefer and get this book and read it in one sitting like I did! 😉

Kellan is an evil, cold and merciless. He is cruel and monstrous. There wasn’t anything good about him. he destroyed towns and ships, took captives and killed them. He is the captain of legend.
Legends spoke of me being cursed by the god of the sea and given my unnerving eyes as punishment, but the truth was far less fascinating.
His curse will consume him at his thirtieth birthday, a fate worse than death, much worse. This Captain was intrigued by a redhead beauty, his songbird. Fletcher is stubborn and he’s not afraid of the captain. He’s innocent and sweet. He speaks freely and challenges the captain, a lot.
Life on the sea puts every man to the test, and with time running out, sacrifices have to be made. Can two men who are so different ever find their happily ever after?
Really enjoyed this adventure with Pirates, Nymphs, Mermaids/Mermen, Witches… It’s well-written and well-paced with a good story-line. Loved all the characters even this cruel captain. Actually loved that Fletcher saw something good in Kellan and fell in love with him! Told in dual POV, 1st person. It’s the first installment in the Tales of Fate series and it can be read as a standalone. It was my first read by this author and I can’t wait to read book 2 (Coming 2019)! Overall, it was an enjoyable read and hope you like it as well!

This fantasy M/M romance was the perfect pirate read for me.
Found at Sea tells the story of how a cursed pirate captain, Kellan, finds redemption from his past sins in the arms of his newest crew member, a sweet but fiery redhead named Fletcher.
I adored these two. Kellan was just bad boy enough to be compelling and complex, but never so dreadful in his actions that his behaviour was unforgivable. He did things that made me mad, but I ultimately understood his nature and the reasons for his sometimes-callous actions. Fletcher’s sweet natured presence and his innocent-eyed sexual allure brought about the best kind of changes in the once ruthless and unapologetic pirate captain, and I couldn’t help but love the way Kellan fiercely worshipped and adored his boy.
Kellan and Fletcher’s story really was equal parts high-seas adventure and soul-changing romance, with a focus on the characters finding true love while searching the ends of the earth for the means to break Kellan’s life-threatening curse. This exciting, sexy, swashbuckling story arc was undoubtedly magnified through the strength of the author’s writing skills, which, to me, were pitch perfect.
This was my very first Jaclyn Osborn story and she’s easily gained an instant fan in me. I look forward to reading more of her works, especially the next book in this particular series, titled The Nymph Prince, which focuses on Fletcher’s best friend Alec, who is a young mage, feared and hunted for his magical nature. It should no doubt prove to be another fun and steamy adventure.

Lolololol. This is garbage.
DNF ~30%, as soon as I read the first sex scene which was my god, SO BAD.
How do I dislike this book? Let me count the ways:
1. The first person writing is seriously horrible. I had to text a friend asking about the different tenses because I couldn't figure out why I felt so detached and cringey about everything that was happening. It was the writing. It's really bad.
Example: Pretext - this is while they are making out
"If you stop, there'll be mutiny on this ship, Captain."
EWWWW! NOOOO!! WHYYYYY?!
2. Kellan. Why is everyone else who read this creaming their panties over him? He sucked. He was the stereotypical playboy: fucks around, doesn't kiss on the lips (like I NEVER GET THIS), only cares about himself and making sure he comes across as diabolic. But guys it's okay because PLOT TWIST, he has a tragic background. Yeah, no, NEXT!
3. Fletcher was, surprise, the stereotypical wide eyed virgin who just wants to go on an adventure, and live the life he has always dreamed of. He also has a tragic background. Bet you didn't see that one comin', huh? Um, NEXT.
4. THE FUCKING BULLSHIT "I DON'T KNOW YOU BUT WE JUST HAVE THIS CONNECTION THAT I CAN'T EXPLAIN, THAT SENDS TINGLES UP MY ARMS AND MAKES ME SHOOT RAINBOWS OUT MY ASS. BUT I WANT TO DENY THIS UNDENIABLE CONNECTION SO I'M GOING TO PRETEND TO HATE YOU, BUT SNEAK INTO YOUR ROOM AND WATCH YOU SLEEP EDWARD CULLEN STYLE BECAUSE YOU COMPLETE ME" trope. God, I fucking hate this shit. It's lazy writing. No one has magical, tingly, unexplainable loooveee connections with people.

Since the moment I saw Captian Flynn, there'd been an unmistakable connection between us; one we'd both fought long and hard to ignore.

He really was changing me in ways I'd never thought possible, and I barely knew him.
LOL. YOU GUYS, at this point they have barely even talked to each other. They've just made fuck-eyes at each other while pretending not to make fuck-eyes at each other and to "hate" each other. This shit wasn't even laughable. I was just super embarrassed for everyone involved.
5. The fact that Kellan called Fletcher "boy" at all and especially during sex was SO. FUCKING. CREEPY. And that he keeps talking about how innocent he is. No thanks, BYEEEEEEE.
6. The sex scene. Wooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. It was fucking bad. And disappointing. And not well-written. And really boring. And like, they really should not have talked because it made an already badly written, cringey sex scene SO MUCH WORSE. That lovely line about mutiny at the beginning of this review? Yes, it's involved in said sex scene. The fact the Kellan asks, "Do you wish to continue?". Lolololololololollllllllll. I'm all about checking for consent but theee fuckkkkk issss thaaattt worddddinnggggggg?!
"That's it, boy." I said, still jerking his shaft.
HIS. SHAFT.

5. The fact that Kellan called Fletcher "boy" at all and especially during sex was SO. FUCKING. CREEPY. And that he keeps talking about how innocent he is. No thanks, BYEEEEEEE.
6. The sex scene. Wooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. It was fucking bad. And disappointing. And not well-written. And really boring. And like, they really should not have talked because it made an already badly written, cringey sex scene SO MUCH WORSE. That lovely line about mutiny at the beginning of this review? Yes, it's involved in said sex scene. The fact the Kellan asks, "Do you wish to continue?". Lolololololololollllllllll. I'm all about checking for consent but theee fuckkkkk issss thaaattt worddddinnggggggg?!

The thing is, the book isn't bad. The concept is good, the characters somewhat awesome, and it is a good read. However, things did bother me, like the was predictable. And much so. I pretty much knew what would happen from the start. Also, a part of me - okay, a huge part - loves bad boys, even bad men. And though I'm not surprised that the characters change, I sorta wanted the main character to continue to be this feared, bad man who was incredibly good to his man. You know? Maybe that's just me, who knows.
“Can a man truly be happy in a cage?”
“That depends on what’s outside the cage.”
Also, I kinda wanted him to be more alpha, but overall he wasn't a bad character at all. And together with his man, they were good :) The book center around Captain of Crimson Night, Kellan ‘Cap’n’ ‘The sea demon’ Flynn (29), the one who is cursed, and Fletcher ‘Fletch’ (19), the one who dreams of adventures who suddenly gets it. Press-ganged, Fletcher ends up on a certain Captain's ship and his life is changed forever.
“They say Poseidon cursed him,” the old crewman said to those who listened. “You can see it in his eyes. One blue and one brown. Creatures and man, both in the sea and on land, fear him.”
I rolled my eyes as I listened to him weave his tales, even though a part of me was intrigued. I’d always loved stories.
The sea demon was who he spoke of. Every sailor—and the men in the taverns they visited—knew the myth of the captain whose heart was as icy as the seas he sailed upon. A man so cruel that death wouldn’t even claim him. The tale was rubbish to me.
No matter how cruel, a man was just a man, and he could be defeated like any other.
“You both fear me,” I stated, seeing the way their gazes darted to me before looking away. Neither answered as it wasn’t a question. “I can assure you, there is no need to be afraid. I desire your bodies and that is all. No harm will come to you.”
I was born with mismatching eyes: one blue and one brown. Legends spoke of me being cursed by the god of the sea and given my unnerving eyes as punishment, but the truth was far less fascinating. I was just born with them. Many men had heard of me, and my eyes were always a dead giveaway as to who I was.
And with that recognition came fear.

I did it again. I created an image of the book in my head before I've even started reading it. It happened to me with Cutlass and now with Found at Sea as well. So let's see. We have a pirate book set in a fantasy world where mermaids, mages, witches, and sea deities are a common thing. Our MC captain Flynn is the most feared and notorious pirate to ever sail this sea. He was cursed because of his cruelty and greed. Now, he must find a way to break the curse before it's too late and he will be turned into a shade. He is a living picture of a proper pirate - ruthless, cunning, bad reputation, leather coat, mismatched eyes. What more can you wish for? Everything would be alright but then Flynn met Fletcher.
Fletcher is a naive, nice young man who craves adventure. Unfortunate (or fortunate) set of events bring these two together and Fletch joins Flynn's crew. So, here's the thing about Fletcher. He is the worst pirate ever. And I really mean the worst. He even says so himself. He doesn't want to be a pirate, he hates fighting (and he doesn't know how to fight), he is afraid of everything and he cries all the time. I don't mean to say he is a bad person, I actually liked him as a character. But this is supposed to be a pirate book, so I want to read about pirates, not about a damsel in distress type of man who acts like he is nine instead of nineteen.
It's such a shame because I fell in love with this magical world from the start and was so excited about how the curse will be lifted. And I was very interested in mages and all those sea creatures but the majority of the book was about Flynn and Fletcher falling in love. I get it's a romance but if I wanted to read about what they have for a romantic dinner with candles, I could pick up some Regency romance where every meal is described in precise details. I don't need a pirate book for fluffy courtship.
I didn't intend to rant that much it's just that I really wanted to like this book. Some parts were great but in general, I was disappointed. However, I'm very much looking forward to Alek's book. He was my favorite character and I can't wait for his story to be told. Hope the next installment will turn darker and more pirate-ish. I can't express how excited I'm to meet the particular sea nymph. In my imagination him and Alek are already so hot together *wink*

The first part of this book was a little slow for me and I actually stalled completely at 35% in, right at the spot where Fletcher and Kellan first have sex... it was not that the writing was bad, it just felt to me like them having sex at that point didn't quite ring true and I thought it should have come a bit later. This is the only non-positive thing I can say about this book as the author hit it out of the ballpark in all other aspects of the book. I thought the MC's were beautifully written and easy to relate to. I liked the way Kellan's personality very slowly morphed due to the presence of Fletcher. I loved the fact that Kellan's riddle was fairly easy to figure out once he opened himself up to caring about another human being rather than trying to use them for his own ends. Overall. I loved this book it was a thoroughly enjoyable read.

Jaclyn Osborn delivered with this swashbuckling tale of pirates, adventure, mystery, merfolk, mages, curses, and romance.
It was enjoyable going on a journey with Fletcher and Kellan. Can’t help but love Fletcher, with his fiery nature, strong spirit, and at times innocent and pure views. Kellan grew on me as a character, I loved his commanding aura but inside lies a tender heart waiting to come out. His transformation from a character of questionable morals to that with redeemable qualities endeared him to me. The secondary characters were strong enough to make an impression, in particular, Fletcher’s friend Alek (who features in book 2 of the series).
Ultimately, this book has the right amounts of steam, fluff, romance, action, and fantasy elements which kept me interested and had me rooting for Kellan and Fletcher’s elusive Hea.
I love love love the epilogue, very fitting!

A coldhearted pirate with a curse placed upon him finds himself infatuated with a red haired spit fire who challenges him daily.
This book had action, adventure and romance...really what more could I ask for? This book was entertaining and I devoured it from start to finish. It reminded me of why I'm a fan of this author.
I always seem to struggle more with reviews with books I truly like. So, I'll just share some of my favorite quotes, after all, I highlighted the shit out of this one lol ;-)

Overall, an engaging, rollicking bit of fun on the high seas and coastal ports. Would have appreciated a bit less melodrama, far less sex, and more action. On to the next story...
Note: The author was doing so well with nautical terms, and them started throwing in "left" and "right" instead of port and starboard. Add that to her descriptions of island locations of "left" or "right" instead of leeward and windward or north/south, etc. And then there was the use of contemporary slang like "bonkers", which completely threw me out of the story...

Warning: there is no pirating on page, and - come to think of it - almost none off page either, except for the mass murder of the poor mermaids. Here we have a serial killer, not a pirate.
Aside that one on-page murder scene, Captain Kellan does not live up to his "The Sea Demon" moniker in any way. The only sea-battle is truly botched by the pirates and their captain. It's absolutely mind boggling, considering these are experienced, hardened in multiple battles and pillaging pirates. That's it for the seamisadventures.
The rest of the time, the pirates are drinking in taverns and having fun with scarcely dressed horny wenches. On a rear occasion they are raiding villages just for the heck of it and pocket money. Off-page, of course.
All three prominent characters, Kellan, Fletcher and Alek, have almost identical backgrounds: poor homeless and starving children, pulled off the streets by an older male out of the goodness of his heart.
Oh, and Kellan and Fletcher are going at it like bunnies. I skipped that all, thank you very much.
And last, but not least, The Curse. The meaning is obvious, the resolution predictable.
PS I just reread my review. WHY am I rounding this UP??? All the good bits are off page, except for the bunny business - if you are into that business. The sea battle made me roll my eyes. There is one(!) woman in this book who is not a whore, and she is there for just a few paragraphs. Taking it down to 2 stars.

3.5/5* This was a really interesting Beauty and the Beast retelling- and I’ve been obsessed with pirates lately, so this was exactly what I needed! Wasn’t the greatest book ever, but it was decent enough and easy to get through. I would’ve liked a bit more conflict or substance in the plot, and a bit more depth to the characters. I did however, love the ending and I’m excited to read the sequel!

Fletcher is a nineteen years old boy working in a tavern. He is strong willed, feisty and impulsive. He catches the interest of Captain Kellan, a vicious and dreadful pirate that have been cursed by a sea witch and have a violent past.
The Captain and his crew are in search of Triton’s heart and believe that this can end his curse before time run out.
My main problem with this book was Kellan. I have a hard time getting into a romance when I hate one of the M.C. I just couldn’t see what Fletcher saw in him and find the romance in question hard to believe in.
Fine, there are pirates, mermaids, violence, magic & sex (bunch of stuff that I usually like) but the characters are not that great, and I didn’t get attach to any of them. I actually didn’t want Kellan to be cured and found he didn’t deserve it, there was nothing that made me think he redeem himself, even the cheesy ending.

This is one of the best MM romances I've read in a long time. It's on par with Shira Anthony's mermen trilogy, and I'd say even surpasses that in some areas. Really excellent work, I'll be eagerly awaiting the next book in the series!

Wow that was one different as hell ending. It was made to seem predictable and I was honestly expecting a showdown or a storm or something similar at the end but what actually happened was kind of a surprise and I loved it.
And the book was incredibly cheesy and it's usually not my thing but it's about a pirate and the boy who saved him so imma make an exception.
Also Kellan should have stopped with the 'boy' thing because it made it feel like he was pushing 80💀.

I adored this book. I thought Kellan was exactly as described and then he was just smitten with Fletcher. Fletcher was so endearing and beautifully sweet. I also loved Alek and cannot wait to continue this story to see his love story unfold. I want more Fletcher and Kellan!! Hopefully we can get some shorts. My first pirate romance I loved!!

Jaclyn Osborn tiene una pluma que acaba enganchándome en casi todas sus obras. No tenia muchas expectativas con esta novela, pero contra pronostico me acabé comiendo la historia en menos de lo que canta un gallo.
En general no ha sido la mejor novela que he leído de la historia, pero si me ha dejado ganas de saber de la segunda entrega pronto.

A cursed pirate and an orphan with a mysterious past go on an adventure on the high seas.
There’s magic and mermaids and curses…oh my. This was a lot to take on and could have been so epic. It definitely got the romance treatment and ended up being all dramatic internal dialogues and instalove instead of showing all of the drama on the page and buildup to the romance. Kellan does try to resist, but it’s so obvious it won’t last it didn’t really work. I did like the story and the characters though it did seem to focus way too much on the other characters. I get why authors introduce to the next set of MCs, but way too much of this current story was spent doing that. It definitely dragged.

I get why authors introduce to the next set of MCs, but way too much of this current story was spent doing that. It definitely dragged.

I fell in love with this story from the first scene all the way to the wonderful happy ending. Theres so much to enjoy here from action, adventure, romance and fantasy aspects too so it really hit all my favorite genres in the best way.
Fletcher and Kellan were entertaining, i enjoyed all their interactions and the challenge between them was a lot of fun. They're such opposites and really provide for the other, the attraction and chemistry between them is incredible.
I can't decide whose pov i loved more, as while i adored Fletcher and his postive outlook on everything. I was obsessed with some of the dark scenes and Kellans past, his such a fascinating and flawed character. The development in him throughout was stunning, i loved that while he grew caring from fletcher that he was also still a Pirate and made awful choices at times.
Also the plot here involving the curse, betrayal and general pirate antics were perfect. The exploration of the ship and meeting various members of the crew.
Oh and of course i fell for Alex, how could anyone not adore the mage his such a sweet interesting character. His bond with Kellan and Fletcher was beautiful, their little family and just everything about him. I am glad i peeked at the next books subject first, was so happy to see its about him and the nymph who wass fun for his short scene here.
A few moments i adored were the stargazing, the myths, storytelling, the lute, the crimson night, battles and the necklace. The seer and the riddles... Lets just say theres a lot of different things going on that all add up and were great to read.
Overall an amazing read which truly takes on a journey across the seas too a beautiful happy ending for Fletcher and Kellan. I look forward to reading more books in this series xx

I loved the story: pirates, magic and magical creatures, legends and myths that turn to be real, a curse to lift - I was engaged from the first page to the very last. And I loved the romance: grumpy ruthless pirate captain falling for a feisty readhead bard with a big heart.
