March 3, 2021I instantly fell in love with Daniel May's storytelling when I started book one in the Taste of Ink series, A Taste of Ink, which I also recommend and which you should begin with if you want to dive into the series. I'm reviewing book three because I just finished it, and because it was somehow the best installment yet, though I wouldn't have thought that was possible after reading and loving the first two books so much.
These are short, intensely steamy reads that must be read in order. I kind of see them as episodes of a single, ongoing story. Trinket is an academic who lives with his boyfriend of two years, Zee, a wealthy architect. Trinket had never been with anyone before Zee, and though they're devoted to each other, there are some shadows between them too. Trinket impulsively decides to get a tattoo as a gift to Zee, and the artist who's available at the tattoo place he happens to wander into is Mini, who's the opposite of sophisticated Zee in every way. When Trinket finds himself aroused by the act of getting inked by Mini, Mini "takes advantage" (and Trinket can't bring himself to say no).
Everything gets hotter and more intense from there.
I read this series as erotica but with fascinating, complex characters who I want to know more about. MAYBE it's a romance--the author claims it is!--but I guess I'll have to see the happy ending before I believe it. It's hard for me to imagine the traditional happily ever after here, but if anyone can deliver a convincing twist, I'm sure Daniel May can.
A final note that the prose here is really extraordinary. I admire Daniel May's spare style and the immediacy of his storytelling. I'm looking forward to more of this series and anything else this new author cares to write.

Daniel May just blows my mind every time. And those cliffhangers, come onnnn, it's killing me! It let's me always unsatisfied - cut the story in half at the most exciting scene. ARGH!!
This book was just as hot as the others, Trinket, Zee and Mini - they are hot as hell, and I can't wait to see how their story will end! Trinket has changed a lot in this book, he got really mouthy and careless. In the earlier book he was always this guy who is madly in love with his boyfriend, but who is eager to find out new things and cheat. This time it was all about the sex, no matter from whom, but Trinket just wanted to get laid. I haven't seen the love between Trinket and Zee and it concerns me a bit.
Mini is just as interesting and hot as before. He has so many ideas, and oh god, I love it when Trinket say yes to all of them.
The phone sex, the mirror scene, all the rimming, aww gaawd! Cold shower after every chapter, it was scorching hot!
It's filthy, it's exciting and so enjoyable. You just wish you want to be in Trinket shoes. I want to live a life just as careless as Trinket and I need a Mini in my life too, and a Zee too. I'm not into cheating, but come on, it's hot to read!
I have a theory that secretly Zee knows everything that happens between Trinket and Mini, but if not, I don't care either way, I just want to know how this story will end! So so good!

Is it me or is this series getting better and better?
I'm just so profoundly shocked and excited and simply loving it so much! You know it's special when you find yourself reading either with a maniacal grin in your face or your mouth just constantly open in either surprise or exhilaration or simple arousal.
It's just such a wild journey... And to think that both Zee and Trinket had been having vanilla sex for such a long time! And we're led to believe that Zee was just "going with it" when Trinket starting asking for more, but it turns out Zee had been holding back big time!
And Mini - jesus fucking christ. I have no words. And the cliffhanger in this book, with Mini going into the expensive high riser!? Ohhh intriguing!!

This series gets hotter and hotter with each part. These guys are so surprising and I have no idea what will happen next.
Trinket is becoming bolder in his "experimenting" with Mini and Zee. He isn't so afraid to try and ask for what he wants anymore. He's so filthy now, saying all sorts of dirty things and taking things past every limit. He is also becoming such a jerk! I finished this part disliking him very much. But I think this is part of what makes me enjoy reading this story so much, having characters that make us feels all different kinds of emotions. And having only Trinket's point of view means we get very close to him and sometimes it's hard to see past his biased opinions. I think there are big surprises coming when we finally get Mini's and Zee's sides of the story.
I am very curious to see how things will play out in the next part.

These books are wild
I don't know what to make a this series and I don't fully understand Trinket, but god if I don't love this story.
It is deep, it's heady, it's really hot. This is by far the most fascinating cheating story I have ever read in my entire life. Trinket is such an interesting character. His mindset confuses me but as the books are unfolding, I'm starting to understand him better. Mini is by far my favorite. He's dirty talking is everything.
This book didn't go the direction I was expecting it to go but I'm not mad about that. If anything, it just makes me more hyped for the next installment. It goes without say you need to read these books in order but if you haven't started the series yet, do it now. Especially if you like complex characters and really interesting story lines. 5 stars because I can't wait for what happens next.

This book was INTENSE in the best way!
This is the second book in the trilogy, and we get to know the characters much more in depth. There’s a lot of development with them as people as well as in their relationships with each other. Trinket becomes much more introspective in this book, and is starting to feel that there may be consequences to his actions. Zee goes through some self-reflection as well, and ends up seeing that he and Trinket may not have been very open and honest with each other. Mini and Trinket delve into new places together, and we start to see that Mini might not be as uncaring as seems.
Though there is an affair going on here, that’s not really what I found this book to be about. Trinket has a lot going on in his head, both on his own and in reference to Zee. As much as there’s tons of steam in this book, there’s also a lot of emotion, and these three are really going through it.
I’m very curious where all three men will end up. The ending leaves them in a precarious situation, and it will be a struggle for them to come through it.

This series just keeps getting hotter!! Trinket's getting more and more adventurous, and I'm pretty much in Mini's camp, aka cheering Trinket on. We see a lot more insight into Trinket and Zee's relationship in this installment, and it's really interesting how their venture into more kinky activities is bringing buried/ignored things to the surface.
The relationship dynamics in this series are absolutely fascinating to me!
Trinket also broaches the topic of spending a wonderfully debauched stretch of time with Mini while Zee's away, and Mini's response is classic Mini in only the best ways. I can't WAIT to see what the next installment brings. These cliffhanger endings are such a tease. I have so many questions!!

Wow, if I thought the first book was intense A Guilty Canvas takes it up a notch or two. Whilst the previous book was full on Steam this installment is more introspective. We really see the dynamics starting to shift between Zee and Trinket. We also start to see behind Mini's bravado which I really loved. A guilty canvas really delves in to the nitty gritty of each man and unravels the layers of their complexities. This series just get better and better and I can't wait to see what transpires in The Finale Stroke. I just know it's going to be a good one. I highly recommend this series if you are not easily triggered by dubious consent and cheating which makes up the majority of the storyline.

Firstly let me say I got this book from gay romance reviews and this is me leaving my honest review.
Do you know what I don’t even know where to start with this book. Trinket it is just so confusing. I don’t understand what he wants out of the affair he’s having with Mini the tattoo artist. And Zee ?? he confuses me in this book admitting to something, trying to be honest with trinket but it is so intense !! this book with blow your mind at times , you don’t wanna Miss a second so you can’t put it down.
I am so intrigued on how these stories gonna end I have a feeling I know but the way that Daniel May writes I know we’re in for a few surprises along the way

Holy hell this was fire, scratch that...this was just a flat out inferno 🔥 These guys are becoming my guilty pleasure.....their story, their chemistry...damn. This book is a continuation of the relationship Trinket and his men....will there be a road to a HEA? Can they all somehow come together ? I have a feeling things will get more intense from here... We will see. This is a must read in this series, I absolutely recommend and cannot wait to see how this potential train wreck ends ❤️🔥😳.

This series just gets better and better! Again, I can't put into words what I want to say about this book other than you need to read the series from the start and take note of trigger warnings.
I am loving this series but wouldn't recommend it to all my friends, they just wouldn't get it but the ones that would will love it!! xx

Things get even more interesting in this installment of the series. Trinket’s journey continues and I feel like he might even grow a bit.
I still don’t really *like* any of the characters, but that’s not a negative for me. They’re doing their thing and taking me on a journey. I’m waiting with bated breath just to see what happens next. I absolutely cannot wait for the next book.

HFN, cliffhanger!!! Every time Daniel leaves you wanting more . This book is filled with so much lust and dirty. Trinket is in love with Zee but lusting after Mini. Trinket is starting to speak for what he wants, making him sassy! Its full of cheating, and hot messy sex and you just want more. I am looking forward to seeing where this story keeps going. It was another great and quick read.

In this third installment of the series we continue to watch Trinket go between long-time boyfriend, Zee and mysterious tattoo artist, Mini. This book is just straight up pure steam. Yes, this series is about cheating but there is so much more than that to this plot. The author keeps you on your toes about what is really going on behind the scenes. I'm addicted to this series!

Fabulously scandalous. Daniel May sure can tell a tale. I want more- luckily there is more.
It’s a smoking hot story but the characters have depth and there’s definitely lots going on between the lines.

We got to go deeper with each character in this second volume, as well as hotter and kinkier!
I loved seeing Trinket get more depraved, Minnie kept surprising me, and the mindset of Zee.
This book was fire, excited for book 3!
