When Brooke Baker first meets Dustin Grant, the attraction is instant. Add in how he doesn’t cringe at the mention of anal beads, then she’s crushing hard. With a chance second meeting where he’s in need of help with a charity dinner, Brooke is more than ready to step in.
Despite her being dressed to the nines, her perfect day out with the handsome football player doesn’t go as planned. You see, Dustin already has a date for the night. Brooke’s instead there to look after his son, Benjie.
Since it’s obvious Brooke isn’t Dustin’s type, she pushes away her attraction and moves on.
That’s all fine… until Dustin turns the tables and decides he’s interested after all. But Brooke isn’t prepared to lower her guard, nor does she want to be a backup.
Can Dustin woo her with his charms, or will he bumble the whole thing and miss out on the chance of something special?
NOTE: Bumbled Love can be read as a standalone or after Fumbled Love (Reagan and Carter's story)
I knew I was going to love Dustin and Brooke's story and I was right. I loved the connection they had and that Brooke didn't just give right into Dustin once he got his head out of his butt and realized she was perfect for him. And Dunstin's son, Benjie was the absolute cutest!
I really liked this book. However it’s NOT plus size or BBW and don’t think it should be labeled as such. That being said I still really enjoyed it. I do recommend retreaded the first in the series before reading this one since all the cast of characters comes back and it can get a little mixed up if you aren’t fresh with the original bunch. But I really did like this. I love Lila Rose. Even if it’s not plus size. She’s a fantastic writer.
Not as good or as funny as the first book, Fumbled Love. The beginning was really good, but after a while it fizzled out and I had to force myself to finish the rest of the book.
Good. Not bad. Not great. There were too many times I was mortified for the h. That does not make angst, it’s just embarrassing for the reader. I didn’t find their love convincing for most of the book. Even when I did it was not any kind of epic love story that I want to read about. Benjie was cute but spoke like a full fledged adult and not a child thought like an adult. Would try this author again.

Bumbled Love by Lila Rose is a sports romance rom com.
We got to know Brooke and Dustin a little in Reagan’s story, Fumbled Love, and I love that a story about Brooke and Dustin was written. I wanted to know where their romance was heading after reading the beginnings of their romance, and this story didn’t disappoint.
The banter, resistance and comedy of this story will hook you, and the slow burn romance is perfectly written for these two.
Whilst these books are stand-alones, I’d recommend reading Fumbled Love before Bumbled Love, as the stories do run parallel to each other.
Bumbled Love is an absolutely amazing, laugh-out-loud, single dad, sports romance read. Lila Rose, this book is awesome. There is nothing I love more than a sexy athlete but who knew I would fall head over kindle for a funny one too. Dustin Grant is an incredibly sexy and hilarious, football player. Seriously I was equal parts turned on and bent over laughing while reading this book. For her part, Brooke, is just as over the top. Together they are magic. Bumbled Love is a must read romance for anyone who loves a sexy read with a side of humor. It gives you both in spades. Without a doubt, this book, along with book 1 - Fumbled Love, are on my Top 10 romcom reads. They both get the judy.ann.loves.books stamp of approval. TBR and Enjoy!
I'm going to be as kind as I can be. I don't think the book is horrendous, but I've settled in the past with BBW romances, and this is just..not particularly good. I'd read the first book a long time ago and said I wanted to give Brooke's romance a shot because I did like the character. But Dustin and Brooke's story could have and should have been better.
The Good - I liked that there's an attempt at expanding the 'verse and including LGBTQ rep in here. There's some good family/friend scenes as well. It's fine. The fat rep? Well, it's not offensive. It's almost non-existent but it's not offensive.
The Bad - Where do I start? The family scenes work better than the romantic ones. I thought (hoped) there'd be more chemistry but it feel flat for me. The comedy is cringey. It's even cringier than the first book, and that's a feat. The football is written by someone who's never seen an American football game, and in general, it feels like it's set in another country, not the US, so if you're looking for any football accuracy...well, I wouldn't.
The Bottom Line - I wanted to like this, but I just didn't.
Bumbled Love is an adorable story by Lila Rose. Brooke met the man of her dreams and when he asked her out, turns out it was to watch his son….When Dustin finally pulls his head out of his a**, Brooke isn’t giving him the time of day. Can Dustin pull out all the stops to convince Brooke, they belong together?
Dustin and Brooke have great chemistry and their banter is delightful. Benjie is adorable and Nana Bev had me rolling. This story had me laughing in amusement. It’s lighthearted, sweet, and highly entertaining.
Bumbled Love by Lila Rose is the First book in the Clumsy Love Series. This is the story of Brooke and Dustin. This was a cute read for sure. Dustin and Brooke know each other through their best friends that are in love. Brooke misunderstand when Dustin ask her to watch his son and she thinks he is asking her on a date. There footing started as side kicks to their best friends romance then on to a misunderstanding but Dustin starts to realize that he doesn't want to miss his chance with Brooke.
This book had so much going on and none of it good! From the dialogue to introducing too many characters in one chapter, everything was just bad. I thought this was going to be a quick and easy read at 171 pages, but ooof. I didn’t read any reviews before I read this book (it was recommended in a book group on Facebook). The only aspect I liked was the very beginning with the miscommunication. Everything else was so over the top and not believable at all. Also, this is book 1, but I feel like we jumped into the side characters of a different story that had been developing first (the main character’s best friends are their only connection and they have a story, but it’s so confusing and this story seems to fall in the middle of their story, if that makes sense)
1. How were the main characters just walking down the same street of a neighborhood when the male main character didn’t live in the neighborhood and he is a famous football player (he was just randomly walking down a neighborhood by himself?) I assumed it was a residential neighborhood and not some busy downtown street, which would make sense. 2. The best friends of the main characters are moving in together, but not dating. Which would make sense if the male character wasn’t moving into the female characters house because he’s also a famous football player. It would make more sense if she moved in to his house. 3. The male main character is classified as “charming”, but it comes off as immature and annoying. 4. The use of “honey” by the fmc and “darlin’” by the mmc just doesn’t feel right and it feels forced.
For such a short book, it really had so many issues. I read 226 books last year, and I’m only on book 8 this year, but this book is by far the worst I’ve read.
This is book 2 in a series about friends who date and share friends who are also dating. It easily stands alone. It stars Dustin, who is a single dad to an adorable little boy and also a football player. Brooke is Bi and a school counselor at the local school. She is very quirky, and adores kids and Dustin's son falls hard for her.
Dustin met Brooke when his best friend started dating her best friends. When they met, Brooke majorly crushed on Dustin but Dustin didn't notice her at all. Until one day he runs into her in town and he asks her out. At least she thought he did. Instead when she arrives its that he asked her to watch her son.
I loved how Brooke moves past Dustin and ends up so into his kid but not him. I also loved that when he comes around and realises what an idiot he is that she doesn't forgive him easily and makes him work hard for a date. I loved that she tortured him quite a lot. I also loved that Dustin realises fairly fast what a treasure Brooke is and that he works hard to try and get one date with her.
This book was awesome. I laughed a lot. Brooke is one cool character and I absoutely adored her and she was such a fun and quirky character. Dustin was an idiot but I loved that he started to really see Brooke and he realised how he might have missed an amazing woman.
I received a complimentary early release copy of this e-book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Bumbled Love by Lila Rose is a sweet read which focuses on the characters Brooke Baker and Dustin Grant. When they first meet, Brooke is instantly attracted to the handsome football player, but a misunderstanding sees Brooke looking after Dustin’s son, Benji, instead of going out on the date she thought he was asking her to do…..awkward. Since Brooke thinks that Dustin doesn’t find her attractive, she moves on, doing her own thing, looking after Benji and avoiding Dustin at all costs. If only it was that easy, especially when Dustin gets his act together and realises that Brooke could be his forever!
This was a hilariously sweet, fast paced read. Brooke was a great character and is one of those likeable main characters whose story you enjoy reading. His love for Dustin’s son, her friends and the people she has around her was great to read about, as were her highs and lows when it came to her feelings about Dustin.
Dustin is also a really great character, a little bit of a player, sometimes oblivious, but we can see that he is a good guy, he just didn’t think when it came to Brooke. But once she is in his sights, he isn’t going to let her go.
The chemistry between the two characters was smouldering as was the banter between all characters in this book. This was definitely a laugh out loud, fun book to read and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!
Okay I definitely liked this book. Wasn’t disappointed at all. I figured that Dustin was going to end up dating Brooke. She couldn’t resist him for too long. Especially when she known she had a thing for him.
But it was messed up when he didn’t make it clear to her that he wanted her to watch his son. When she came to his house all doll up that disappointed definitely hurt me too even though it was about Brooke lol!
But at least he figure out his mistakes and tried to fix it. Because in the book with Reagan and Carter I knew that she was hurt by him and he didn’t know. What he did wrong when everybody else did. Including the men.
But at least he worked things out with her. And in the end both of them was happy including Benji < I didn’t spell his name right lol!
But beside Dustin and Brooke my freaking mind kept thinking about North and Jake cause now they got me soooo curious. & I did say I wanted a book with North and see what happens with him when he meets a girl. I definitely got a surprise, I see that he’s gay. I never would’ve thought! But I know one thing. I can’t wait to read his story about him a Jennings. Because I’m so curious now. I hope it be out soon cause I’m ready lol!
Dustin is a complete fool but you can’t help but fall for his charm. The relationship definitely started off on the wrong foot with an unfortunate miscommunication. But once Dustin gets to see Brooke and her personality more, he realizes his mistake and starts to (try to) woo her. Benjie is definitely like his father with 10 times the charm and has already worked his way into Brookes heart. It doesn’t take long for Dustin to do the same, with the some help Nana Bev and some others. This was a great story with fun characters. I love that there was no emphasis on Brooke being plus size. Instead it was briefly mentioned but never the sole focus of the story. In some stories with plus size heroines, being plus size becomes a personality trait and doesn’t embrace the heroine as just a person. I loved all the characters and their character developments. It was also nice to see a jock not be a complete arrogant jerk like they are usually portrayed.
I can’t wait to see more of Jennings and North and that character development! The banter between everyone made the story light hearted and fun to read. Especially with Dustin and Jennings interactions, which I hope to see more of! Overall, an amazing book that makes you feel like you’re a part of the story.
Whenever I read a Lila Rose Romance story it just gives me all the feels…lol She is one of those authors that I cant wait to read a book, but also don’t want to as I know it will be over so quickly 😊 I loved Brooke and Dustin’s story. It was exactly what I was I expecting from one of her ROMCOM stories. It was hilarious and sweet and just so sappy… I loved it.
Dustin Grant was a divorced dad single football player. He was sweet, funny and hella sexy. Brooke was just as hilarious and totally over the top. I freaking loved her and man do I love her Nana Bev she was freaking awesome.
After a disastrous misunderstanding Dustin is doing everything he can to make Brooke see that he is interested in her and wants to spend time and get to know her. But its going to take a lot more that his usual charm to get her to see things his way.
Sweet, Romantic, hilariously funny and we get to see some of the guys from Polished P&P Series. What’s not to love. Awesome story from start to finish 😊❤ ❤ ❤
I am still laughing as I write this review! Lila Rose is one of my favorite authors, she is so well rounded, but I have to say her romantic comedies are probably my favorites. She always gives a great plot with well-developed and captivating characters. If you’ve read Fumbled Love then you were also impatiently waiting for Dustin and Brooke’s story. We saw the chemistry brewing but having a front row seat was sooo much better. I absolutely loved Brooke and definitely Benjie. Dustin took a few pages to grow on me because I just couldn’t understand how a man could be so clueless lol. The banter between Brooke and Dustin was so hilarious and entertaining. Throwing in a foul-mouthed grandma, semi-meddling best friends and an adorable little boy and there was no way this story couldn’t be perfection! I can’t say it enough… this book was awesome. I will now have to impatiently wait for the next book which if we follow the breadcrumbs will be North and Jennings, I’m sensing Beast and Knife vibes and if so, I CAN NOT WAIT!!!!!! If you have not read Hear Me Out wheeeew you are missing out.
WHY HAVEN'T YOU READ THIS YET????!!!!!! EVERYONE HAS TO READ THIS!!!
It's hella funny, the friendship and family relationship among everyone is amazing and hilarious, the kiddo is the best, Nana is someone we all need and omg, i cannot explain how much I loved reading this one!
The start is amazing with Dustin fucking up his chance but he's smart enough to understand his mistake himself and then by continuously trying and convincing Brooke, he finally get's a shot. Their first date was cuteee but the second one? Omgggg, it's perfect... perfectly embarassing and funny!
BUT, the second half is the show stealer, aka, FREAKING FANTASTIC!!!!
I was crying while laughing because holy shit, this book is super amazing and now I'm fan-girling over this book like Tom and Herb were over Dustin and then North.🙌🏼❤️😂
Also, just to add on the positive points:- It has some mentions of quite a few MM couples who I'd love to read about more.
Also, Dustin is like a yippy puppy (Said by North to Jack) and it's the absolute truth.
I had high hopes when reading this book description, but the book was lacking any depth. It was a bisexual woman who likes Dustin (this guy her friends beau plays football with), and after he mistakingly hurt her feelings without realizing, she goes to a bar and meets a woman and it takes his kid hearing her get asked out by the same woman when she takes him to a movie and telling his dad for dustin to ask her out- says he realized she has more of a chance to get swooped up now when finding that out. Then she keeps saying no and throwing out that she’s going to a biker party that’s known to be wild to make him jealous. I stopped at that point- very little substance so far and if there isn’t much more than that surface level description by 40%c I cut my losses and regret paying for the book. I hate leaving not-so-good reviews but I appreciate reading honest ones and want to be honest about my perception.
This is the follow up to FUMBLED LOVE, and I enjoyed it. Dustin makes me laugh. He’s got such Golden Retriever Energy going on and you can’t help but want to love him. Or swat him. He’s a little dense about women, and Brooke in particular, but the first time he kissed her… le sigh. Brooke is very relatable with some goofy moments, very likable. We get some time with favorites Herb and Tom, and not nearly as much time as we needed with Nana Bev. She is a lot of fun and the author could have done more with her. But the book had a lot of laugh-out-loud moments, and plenty of tender ones for a good balance. Recommended. MMC/FMC- Dustin and Brooke Genre- Sports Romance Length- novel Heat- open door, much visiting Australia. Series? Y Safety? Y Triggers- N Tropes- Adorable Moppet, Adventures in Babysitting, All-American Idiot, American Football, Found Family, He Chases Her, He Falls Harder, Hot for Teacher, Kitten Escapades.
It has been a while since I was in the football world with Lila Rose, so I reread Fumbled Love and remembered just how funny and how much I loved this cast of characters. The second book is just the same, full of laughs, drama, and some really hot bits (a bit more than book one). In the first book, we knew that stuff was happening with Dustin and Brooke, we also know how he stuffed it up and was trying to make things better. Well, now we get their POV's and get to watch just how bad he mucked it up and everything he did to get back in Brooke's good graces. This is a laugh out loud type of story; Lila Rose created such a funny world that honestly, I want to read about Herb and Tom's friendship cuz I think that would be amazing. I give Dustin and Brooke 5 stars. Keep the laughs coming!
This is the 2nd book in this hysterical series and is Dustin and Brooke’s story. Dustin is a charming, funny, football star, who needs Brooke’s help with aa charity dinner, but due to a miscommunication error Brooke arrives all dresses up, only to find out that Dustin already has a date for the evening, and he wants her to look after his son Benji. Benji is just as charming as his dad, and he instantly steals Brooke’s heart. Brooke decides she has had enough and is going to move on with her life, but Dustin is now determined to woo her back. There is intense chemistry between Dustin and Brooke. This is a well written story which is fun, entertaining, humorous, and with witty banter, drama, and is a light-hearted and entertaining all-consuming page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
4.5 Stars I forgot how hilarious this series is. This book had me laughing from start to finish. Once Reagan's family came into play the previous book came all flooding back into my head. We got to know Brooke in Fumbled Love and so glad to get her book. Benjie had me wrapped around his little finger. That boy was such a cutie and matchmaker. Dustin has the charm and he is going to need it to win over Brooke after the mistake he made. Brooke, Dustin, and Benjie just warmed my heart when they were together. The special bond Benjie creates with Brooke will melt your heart. Brooke's grandma is quite the character. She would get along with my grandma that's for sure. I would so recommend this one. If you're in a funk with life this book will make you forget about it for a little bit while you devour these pages.
This story was cute with decent spice when there was some but at 117 pages it barely qualifies as a full length novel. The author tells heavily on previous novels and characters which would be okay if it were a larger story but it's not. Also the FMC is not described at all so unless you've read the previous book you're going to have to fill in those blanks for yourself. In fact a lot of the characters are this way. Even if they're described before it shouldn't be assumed the reader will know for this book. Not a lot of conflict, which is okay if you're going for low stress. I enjoyed the FMC because she wasn't weak and seemed to know and respect herself. Her reasons for hesitating weren't based on trauma or fear and I appreciated that. The MMC was a good guy and likable throughout. Would been fun to read more of them.
4.5 A beautiful story that totally satisfied my curiosity about Brooke and Dustin. They were both goofy characters, and Dustin’s boy Benjie was completely adorable. The start of their story is right back at that first misunderstanding about a date/babysitting, that we heard about in Fumbled Love. Dustin really is an adorable idiot, but he caught on, and well and truly made up for his screwups. Realising how great Brooke is, and persisting to get her to give him a second chance. Brooke’s relationship with Benjie is beyond sweet, and he was the cause of many of my bursts of laughter. A really funny and sweet read, I can already see it making it into the reread rotation.
I wanted more grovelling, though, from Dustin. I barely recall them having an actual date it was all hanging out with Bengie or after he went to bed.
He didn't really chase he manipulated situations for Brooke to look after Bengie or just inviting himself to her Nans house for dinner. I wanted more romance from them.
The overuse of "darlin" was annoying and cringing.
The scenes with bengie and Brooke were adorable. and I loved the clubhouse scene.
The relationship between Dustin and Emily was a nice change to read.
Wouldn't classify this as a plus-size read. It's very lightly mentioned that Brooke is plus size.
Easy quick read and nicely linked into the Diamon MC.
