Disclaimer: I personally know the author, Meg, and she is a wonderful friend of mine. I met her through her ex-husband, who is mentioned a few times in the book, many years ago while she was studying her degree in Adelaide. I also had the pleasure of meeting “Tim”, her partner at the time of her contracting GBS.

She was an absolutely gorgeous and inspiring woman BEFORE she contracted GBS, and in real life these attributes have grown considerably since she contracted and recovered from it.

Now, for the book review:

I couldn’t put Unknown down. From the very first few pages, I knew that I was going to absolutely devour this book - but not because I know the author. It was truly captivating. Meg has a delightful way with words - it’s hard to believe this is her first novel. She has a very clear voice throughout.

There were so many ‘laugh out loud’ moments, and oh so many “holy sh*t” moments. I needed a box of tissues with me - Meg’s journey is at times harrowing, and truly hard to believe she pulled through it.

This is a story of adventure, hope, of sheer determination, of love and hard life lessons learned along the way.

The message I took away from it is this: Life is short, and people don’t always get a second chance - so how will you live your life?

I’d recommend this book to everyone!

Really interesting to read about GBS. and the difference in healthcare around the world.

A couple spelling and grammar mistakes but all in all, would recommend.

Very informative and interesting to see the POV from someone who has the syndrome.
