Take one part former best friend and mountain man + one part curvy girl who desperately needs his help and you get one high heat steamy romance.
Ajax: The last person that I expect to call me is Everly Washington. But with the snowstorm approaching, she has to make one last trip up to Devil’s Peak. Too bad we can’t make it back down. When we get trapped in my cabin together, it’s time we start talking. It’s been four years since we broke up and went our separate ways. But when you’re stuck together, the only thing you can do is remember the good times. And curvy Everly Washington and I had plenty of good times. She’s the love of my life and I want her back. She can’t turn down a shirtless mountain man, can she?
Ajax is book five in The Men Of Devil’s Peak series. These are standalone short steamy romance books that feature over the top mountain men finding curvy damsels in distress that they just can’t help but keep to themselves.
Second chance, force proximity story with mountain man mmc and curvy, book-lover fmc. It was cute but so short that the angsty backstory didn't really pan out.
During the separation he got lots she got none. Barf. Authors when will you quick with this shit????? Misogynistic authors who hate their own heroines? Not for me.

Short and sweet. A snowstorm that brings back together to lovebirds. Only thing I wish is we knew why they broke up in the first place. Was it just something silly or was it major?
I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.
Everly lives in the town below Devil’s Peak Mountain, she has lived there her whole life and is now the town librarian. Looking after her parents who live high up on the mountain is her number be one priority so when her brother forgets supplies that they desperately need to make it through the storm that is about to descend upon them all but when her car is in the garage for repairs and she can’t find anyone to drive her she is stuck asking the one person she wishes she could forget. Ajax it’s been five years since they were last civil to each other, once he was the love of her life now they are strangers. Will he be the one person to help her and could she finally be ready to listen to what he has to say?
Ajax has the life that he wants living in his cabin half the way up Devil’s Peak Mountain after losing his parents when he was younger luckily the Washington family took him in and treated him just like one of their own. Everly Washington was everything he ever wanted and he fell in love with her when they were just teenagers. They were a picture perfect couple until five years ago when they argued after his older brothers wedding, afterwards he refused her calls, her visits until he was ready but he was too late. He watched her from afar an ex ones he will never love anyone as much as he loves her, so when she turns to him for help there is no way he’s going to say no, is this the time he gets his second chance to win back the love of his life? Never has he wished to be snowed in at his cabin before.
I really do love this writers work, this one especially and I loved Everly’s sass, she wasn’t going to roll over and be thankful for when he was ready to talk as so many authors do. Well worth a read and perfect for an early night. 4.3 ❄️
Book: Ajax Read By: Ebook and Audio Author: Kelsie Calloway Genre: Romance Main Characters: Ajax and Everly Recommend: Yes Spice: 🌶️️ 🌶️️ Age recommendation: 18-30+ Years My feelings:
This is a short book, and only 1hr audio book. But its super good.
"You're literally the worst. You had one job. One. Job. It was your turn to make sure that mom and dad had everything they needed." I could yell at him for the rest of the afternoon and it would only go in one ear and out the other. My brother, even though he's five years older than me, doesn't have the sense God gave a doorknob.”
I loved them chemistry between the 2 mcs. It was clear they both loved each other.
“You are the great love of my life, Everly. If a woman doesn't compare to that, then she isn't for me.”
All it took was a snow storm and some steamy sex to be reminded of it.
"I love you, Ajax. I always have." "I will always love you, Everly.”
Highly recommend.

Second Chance Snow storm Snowed in Forced proximity Spice
I wouldn't call this an instalove. But it was a quick short cute read. I would have liked to see a bit more to the story after the spice at the end. But I'm not complaining lol
I would have preferred more development of the characters and their relationship, especially the transition from enemies to lovers, which was very quick.
This could have been much better if it was longer with more character development. I just didn’t connect with the characters. There was some backstory but the resolution to their “conflict” was rushed. There were also a couple times that I cringed.
She may be stubborn but she is no match for Mother Nature and his plan
Ajax is the fifth book in The Men Of Devil's Peak series and is a wonderful story to finish the series with. The story is about Everly Washington and Ajax Campbell. These two were always meant to be together but one silly fight and some sore feelings meant they spent the last four years apart. Both grew up on Devil's Peak and as their parents were best friends they had known each other since they were babies. Bu the time they were thirteen they started making out and from there they continued to share all of their firsts. Everly works as the town librarian, even though it is a very small library. She and her older brother are supposed to take turns each year making sure that their parents are fully stocked before the first big snowstorm of the season. But this year her brother has remained his useless self and not taken care of it. Everly is in a bind as she knows she needs to get things to her parents but her car is being fixed. When no one is able to help her out she phones the last person she ever wants to ask anything from...Ajax. He may not be willing to lend her is truck but he is willing to drive her up the Peak to her parents and back again. But Ajax has an ulterior plan which involves timing the drive down with the storm and ending up having to take refuge at his lower down the mountain but still far enough away that they will be snowed in for a couple of weeks. It is going to be a long couple of weeks but if he plays the long game he will be winning for the rest of his life.
This is a sweet and spicy short story with an entertaining story-line and likeable characters. I really liked Everly's father as he was a man who you knew had a twinkle in his eye for mischievous. I enjoyed this book.
Everly Washington and Ajax Campbell used to be best friends until a horrible argument broken them up. They stopped talking to each other, although neither can remember what they even argued about. Ajax would like a second chance with Everly, but she has cut him off completely and won’t talk. But when her older brother gets so involved in his games that he forgets to take supplies to his parents at the top of the mountain, with a bad storm on the way that could isolate them, Everly is tasked with doing what Evan neglected to do. The only problem is that her car is in the shop. Unfortunately, her contact list of friends finds everyone busy or not in a position to help. That leaves on one person, and he has a heavy-duty truck. Maybe he would let her borrow it? He refused to loan his truck, but offered instead to drive her for supplies and delivery, even though spending the day with him was not to her liking.
Not much talking took place on the way up the mountain. Everly started toward a panic attack over the snow, and Ajax took her hand and talked her down. And his touch reminded her how much she missed him. By the time they delivered the supplies and started back, the storm had escalated and Ajax drove to his nearby cabin. For the next few weeks, he can try to talk Everly into forgiving him for the way he acted in refusing her calls, and maybe even to give him a second chance to prove how much he still loves her. Will she listen to him now? Or will she stubbornly hold onto the anger that makes her feel she was “right”… even though she doesn’t remember what they fought over. Isn’t 4 years long enough to make him feel bad?
I will no doubt be reading the other books in The Men of Devil’s Peak Series by Kelsie Calloway, as I loved how short and sweet this book was, but due to the aforementioned dislikes of not being able to connect with Ajax in any way despite the dual POV, it is very unlikely I will reread it. Therefore, my rating for Ajax is Three out of Five Stars.
I have been struggling with a book slump, so this novella definitely helped me get back into reading again. I would recommend Ajax to anyone that loves a second-chance romance, childhood sweethearts, possessive mountain men, stubborn plus-size women, soulmates finding their way back home, and anyone that needs a little steamy read. The sexual scene in Ajax is not, in my opinion, overly graphic, but I would still recommend this book to an adult audience. I look forward to seeing what the other mountain men of Devil’s Peak are up to in the future.
Everly's parents live in the Mountains. Her and her brother are supposed to take turns and share the responsibility of making sure their parents are prepped for winter. Brother said they would be fine but forgot to help. Everly has to find a way to help and her car is in the shop. She calls everyone and no one can help since the snow storm is coming. She makes a last ditch effort to call Ajax (The EX) He has a truck and refuses to let her borrow it but offers to help because he likes her parents. Ajax starts to form a plan and hopes they get caught in the storm and have to stop at his house which is on the way down the mountain from her parents. Fast read. Only 48 pages so would help with books read for the year but not one if you are looking for something to really grab you and pull you into the story line even though it has a good one. Maybe a 1 to 2 pepper rating. Not one I would recommend other than because you just need another book to list and its a fast read.
This is book number 5 of the Men Of Devil's Peak series and focuses on Ajax and Everly. Everly is trying to do everything she can to get her parents the much needed supplies before a huge winter storm blows through since her brother dropped the ball and didn't get them their supplies. After being unable to find anyone who could help she is desperate so she calls the one person she doesn't want to. Ajax jumps at the chance to be able to help Everly. They were together for 8 years before they broke up and Ajax is determined to win back the love of his life. This was a great story! I'm so glad that Ajax and Everly were able to find their way back to each other and get that second chance they were both in desperate need for.

Someone in a book group I'm in called this month Novella November. I'm not usually a novella girly because they're typically instalove/instalust, and I can't get into those. They feel too unrealistic to me.
This one, however, I actually didn't hate it. It was like a little spicy snack. I do love a good second chance romance. It works because of the history they had. "The one that got away" type deal. Because they had a history, it didn't rub me the wrong way like instalove/instalust does.
I had my doubts when I noticed that it was under 50 pages. I didn't think that would be enough to make me connect with any of the characters, but I'm happy for them. Did it feel rushed? Absolutely, but I'm not mad at it. Was a good palate cleanser.
The Daddy bit even got a laugh out of me. Props 👏.
Ajax was another quick and steamy second chance romance by Kelsie Calloway. Thanks to her brother bailing on them, Everly has to travel up the mountain to bring supplies to her parents before the big storm. With no other options, Everly is forced to ask her first and only love, now enemy Ajax to drive her. Together since they were teenagers they had a big fight and broke up. Now that Ajax has Everly alone, he is hoping this will be their second chance. For the first time, he is hoping a big storm will hit forcing them to be stuck in his cabin so he can win back the love of his life. Will his plan work? 5 stars!
basically, goes like this: hate you for what happened- bone- lived happily ever after good if it's what you're looking for, but if you like a little more plot like me It's definitely not worth it
It had promising first impression, but the book became worse as it advanced, the background history between the main characters (in my understanding) it's supposed to have an impact on the current situation they are in and yet it is completely ignored through the book beyond a couple mentions. The reader basically is left in the dark about that. There is no development on the friendship or whatever relationship the main characters have.
Super quick read with some spice. I think this would be a good book to read between heavier/lengthier reads just to lighten the mental load.
In regards to the story, I found myself wanting to know more about what caused their initial breakup and more into what the snowed in days looked like prior to rekindling the relationship.
Overall, I enjoyed this short story but was a little thrown off how they fell back into love so quickly after 4 days when they hadn’t spoken in years and she had called him her sworn enemy. I get it though, the story is meant to be short which I did appreciate in the end.

I loved this short and steamy second chance romance in Kelsie’s latest series. The characters are easy to love and the story is fun to read. Everly and Ajax are former sweethearts who no longer talk to each other but still live in the same small mountain town. When Everly needs bell driving up to her parent’s house with supplies before a storm rolls in, Ajax agrees to help her. If they get stuck together in a snowstorm, maybe she will finally give him the second chance he’s been hoping for.

This is a great sweet with heat read. These stories are short and always leave me feeling happy! Everly needs to get some supplies up the mountain to her parents before a big storm hits. The only person she can find to help her is her ex boyfriend. They broke up years ago. Ajax hopes this is his chance to win her back. What will happen when they have to stay inside his cabin while the storm rages outside?

Rating: 3/5 Spice: 2/5 Platform used: Kindle Keywords: MF, Exes, Friends to Lovers, Novella, Curvy FMC, First Love
Looking for a short, feel good, first love rekindled novella then Ajax is your book. Ajax got a 3 star rating because I felt like there could have been a little more of the story happening inside the cabin, most was led up and then just a tiny bit of what you were waiting the whole novella for. The spice got a 2 star because again, all the lead up and just a moment of the connection you were looking for between the FMC and MMC.
Short story that is fast paced and full of emotion. I like that Everly reached out to Ajax for help despite breaking up four years earlier. The fact that Ajax volunteers to help right away shows that he still has feelings for Everly. While stranded, Ajax is trying to talk things over but Everly wants none of that. Once she does open to the idea, watch out for the explosion.

Now this book reminded me that yes Alaska gets a lot of snow. Loved the re-connection of Everly and Ajax. Stupid stuff broke them apart for years. Due to an impending storm, she needs to get some much needed supplies to her parents. Her brother was supposed to handle it but didn't so she had to ask Ajax for help. Of course, after delivering the supplies the storm worsens. Read this book to see what happens. :)
I thought this book was a quick fun read. The story of Ev and Ajax. They grew up together, became childhood sweethearts only to break up. They spent 4 years apart. A snow storm is coming through town and she needs Ajax truck to help get supplies up to her parents in the mountain.
Like I said. This is a quick read. Love the chemistry between the characters. I only wish it was longer. Would love to read other books by the author.
The author has given us a wonderful story that pulls us into the lives of Ajax and Everly and does not let go. They used to be best friends but an argument tore them apart. When she asks for his help will this be a second chance for them?

Ajax and Everly were together for 8 years as teenagers until 21. A stupid fight steamrolled into so much more. They both kind of moved on but nobody could really compare. Now they are forced to spend time together and sparks fly and memories return. A sweet second chance romance, steamy, and romantic with a sweet HEA.👍
Ajax Campbell and Everly Washington are both 25 and single. They used to be together. But things happen. With a Snow storm coming and worrying about her parents. Everly calls the one person she can't stand. But the upcoming storm just might be what they need. Things heat up between the two ex's. Second chance at love.
This short story of Ajax and Everly is cute and I craved more for their story but this is a novella and got straight to the point. Helping her out was his chance to get her back. His one true love. She would rather not. It some spicy connection and all the love comes back to her and they give it a whirl to move forward together.
