The story continues for Enzo and Kai. Betrayed by Truths has so much drama and wrong decision. Especially from Kai. Her gamble to let herself surrender to Enzo did not pay off nicely. Now she is more trapped. Miss Miles getting us ready for the next book.
I do like Miss Miles writing style. She is focusing on the angst and drama on the characters instead on the plot. I have to admit it takes me a while to get use to the story telling like hers. At the end I feel drawn into the story even more. Sometimes I want to scream and bitch slap Kai for making stupid decision, and yet I sat at then of my chair to get to the end.
The book ends in cliffhanger. And the story will continue on the third book.

What did I just read? Oh my god, the story of Enzo and Kai is killing me - in the best way possible! Betrayed by Truths, book 2 in The Truth or Lies series, begins right where we left off in book 1, Taken By Lies (and you really need to read that and Lured by Lies first - trust me, you want to). Ella Miles is a story telling master, who has a brilliant way with words. Each chapter, every page, has you falling further down the rabbit hole with twists and turns you will never anticipate. Oh, and did I mention the sex? It’s knock boots steamy. *fanning self*
Waiting for the third installment, Trapped by Lies, the continuation of Enzo and Kai’s story, is going to be torture. Torture I will happily endure because this series is just that good.

Gah!!!! I'm so in love with this series so far!
I love the tension between Kai and Enzo! Their attraction to each other just leaps off the pages. Enzo makes me swoon whenever he looks at her. I adore his character so much. He is unlike any alpha hero I've ever read. And I love how Kai is his match in every way. They are easily one of my favourite romance couples of all time.
And the drama! So addicting. There have been so many great twists along the way that I couldn't put this book down!

This was another intense read. They both are going through a lot. It sucks that both Enzo and Kai have to act the way that they do. However, their lives depend on it. I'm pretty sure that everything in the last book will work out and they are together. If not, then these books will have been for nothing.

Holy smokes! Ella Miles is killing it with this series! It is so deliciously good! The story of Enzo and Kai keeps getting better and better. I loved seeing a bit of a softer side to Enzo and getting to know a little more of the other characters. I cannot believe how it ended and need the next book, Trapped by Lies, now. Please! 😁

OMG...what an amazing read. I was not in mood for a dark romance read but after reading the prologue, I can't stop until the end and now I really need the next book ASAP.
This dark path and crazy twisted game of truth and lies that Enzo and Kai going through is getting darker and darker and more twisted with plenty revelations and mystery in every chapter and that's what makes this book a page-turner and a MUST-READ one.
It's dark, it's twisted, it's steamy, it's captivating and if you love dark romance read, you definitely don't want to miss this one.

Kai and Enzo’s story continues in the dark and twisted read. The games are about to begin to find out which family is rightfully the new Black. Kai may not be able to stand the touch of other’s but she can’t get enough of Enzo. What will happen when the games begin and jealousy rears its ugly head? Fast-paced read with loads of twists and turns I can’t wait for the next book! I loved this series!!!!

Ellie Miles storylines are some of the best. Her characters are always engaging and evolving into strong and attention grabbers and this second book brings you no less than that.with all its twists and turns and a hot couple taking us along for the ride.

NEITHER WILL GIVE UP, BUT WILL EITHER GIVE IN? **4.25 stars**
The series continues … a dark and twisty version of Romeo & Juliet lovers trapped in a Hatfield & McCoys-type family rivalry. Story momentum is still strong for enemy lovers Kai and Enzo, despite the setback succession of shocks from the couple’s “truth and lies” game where lies can be better than truths, and truths worse than lies. All the twists and turns left me speechless and stunned. Not sure my heart can take any more without imploding because nothing is at it seems, and the unpredictability constantly keeps me off-balance. Just when I believe one thing, the truth shifts once again about what Enzo knows, the implications for Kai, and where the endgame will lead both of them. Enzo holds the keys to Kai’s freedom, but she stands in the way of him claiming the empire. Their tenuous truce and admitted attraction must take a backseat to what comes next.
Some stunning revelations about their connected families now pit them against each other in a winner-takes-all competition -- a deadly game with life and death consequences for ultimate control of the criminal empire started by the Rinaldi and Miller families. Things that Enzo has always known, but not Kai. The competition has strict rules, and Enzo appears to be the best trained with the upper hand to win, but Kai has other skills that Enzo does not. And there are so many more revelations that can gum it all up, plus villains in hiding. This book deals with the first competition, which seems both simple and impossible to pull off and so much is at stake that has the potential to ruin all the trust and feelings that have built between the couple. Truths will be tested; lies will be told; trust will be broken … at what cost?
The couple’s love-hate relationship (as lovers or enemies/rivals) is still just as captivating with sizzling chemistry. Their passions are strong either way. The different spin on the couple and criminal empire remains equally compelling, and both characters are still as engaging as in the prequel. They make a great match in a test of wills -- as allies, lovers, or enemy competitors. Their push-pull during the competition was passionate to the point of combative and riddled with jealousy, which makes for bad decisions on both sides. I loved hearing the truth of their inner thoughts, even as lies continually fall from their lips. If only they’d stop fighting and see the truth in their relationship.
Kai hate-loves Enzo without realizing everything he does is to protect her from danger. This resilient, unbreakable girl who has made a profession of being a captive with a spirit that can’t be broken. And he wants nothing short of EVERTHING from her, even though she sees that as imprisonment instead of freedom. Their love-hate relationship is all-encompassing, which makes this book a solid blend of romance and suspense action, while matching a plucky heroine against a fiercely protective alpha male. Actually, Enzo bends more than Kai realizes, but both are too caught up in making assumptions. Her life depends on being resourceful, brave, spirited, and resilient, and Enzo may underestimate her ability to outsmart his superiority in physical and mental training.
All the surprises and that cliffy seriously smacked me upside the head without warning. I don’t even know what to think. It’s like a good popcorn movie, and I’ll be on this crazy ride to the last page of the series.

Angsty Twists And Turns Continue In Book Two Of Enzo and Kai’s Story! Their Chemistry Heats Up The Pages, But Their Passion Easily Shifts To Anger.
This is book two of six in the Truth or Lies series. Each book reads like a roller coaster, with unexpected gut-clenching twists and turns. Enzo and Kai both grew up in a brutal world, but one was raised in luxury and the other in extreme poverty. They have an undeniable connection, but every time they cross paths or begin to drop their defenses, something seems to pull them apart. There are many questions and many lies, but answers do come with patience. The books are best read back to back since the plot is very complex. This review attempts to summarize earlier books as a reminder for readers that didn’t just finish the prior book in the series.

The myth that surrounds the Black name in Miami and beyond is legendary, demanding both fear and respect. Danger defines Mr. Black; ruthless describes him. He rules Miami, where he runs Surrender, an invitation only club where deals are made by the high-powered members of the underground that frequent it. Mr. Black also runs many other clubs in Miami, has a fleet of yachts that he deals with, and runs a security firm. The fleet gives him access to the lawless waters of the ocean as well as the world beyond Miami.
Enzo Black, seventeen, drinks to numb the memories that haunt him. He grew up in comfort and has more money than he will ever need, but his life has not been easy. As the son of Mr. Black, he knows he has an image to maintain. There is no room for feelings for someone like him. He has blood on his hands. His father has trained him in the family business for years, expecting that Enzo might one day take over. His second hands happen to be his two best friends, Langston and Zeke. They all grew up together, so having his trusted friends at his side in a dark world dominated by older and experienced criminals provides a welcome level of comfort. Langston is more brain, while Zeke is more brawn. But both are loyal. They are family.
Katherine Miller, sixteen, hasn’t’ been to school in weeks. She is old enough to opt not to go, so she has been going less and less, choosing to work and steal instead. He promises to let her leave town, but in a cruel twist of fate Kai is taken and sold to a cruel man named Jarod. Years later Kai is back and she wants answers. Enzo has answers now, but doesn’t want Kai to know them. They play a game but Kai loses. Instead of getting her answers, Enzo now owns her. He keeps her and sees to her health, but his trickery isn’t over. The two play a series of games of Truth or Lies as a means to get answers that neither willingly wants to share.
Just when Kai begins to recover her strength and the pair begins to bond, her whole world is turned upside down. She learns what Enzo meant when he said becoming the next Mr. Black is earned, and he confesses he didn’t actually earn it because he let her live six year ago. The next Mr. Black will earn his or her place according to the rules set forth by the last two to compete for the title: their fathers. The Rinaldi and Miller families have competed for the title for generations. As only children, Enzo and Kai must compete, since it is now known that she is not dead. There will be five competitions, each with a clear winner. Three out of five wins the title. Outside of the rules, there are no rules. It is a dangerous game, meant to flush out the weakest and leave the strongest to run the empire until the next generation of Rinaldis and Millers comes along.

Enzo and Kai must run Mr. Black’s empire together until a winner is determined. Enzo has run it as Mr. Black for three years already, and though Kai has great street smarts and is quite capable of standing up for herself, she lacks experience as a leader. When things get personal, the two clash professionally. Kai uses her equal footing with Enzo to hurt him, but it comes with a price. When the first round of the game begins, they had reached a tentative peace, but winning comes at a price as well. The book ends in a shattering cliffhanger with yet another wicked turn at the end. Their story continues in Trapped by Lies, book three of the series.
Enzo and Kai’s story is a slow burn. They have fantastic chemistry, but their relationship is complicated. It shifts. Sometimes they have some sort of undefined relationship outside of his ownership of her, though neither is capable of expressing feelings for the other. Sometimes they are enemies – often of necessity, for self preservation. They are stuck together until the next Mr. Black is determined, but Enzo wants to ensure Kai’s safety and her future, though he doesn’t always share his motives with her. Kai doesn’t want to become the next Black, but she also wants to prove herself, and she would like to see changes made. Either way, she must play for her freedom. Here she has made great progress in healing, but human touch remains difficult for her and panic attacks threaten to betray her fragile state. Enzo plans to win the title of Black not only for himself, but to keep Kai away from the dangers that follow Mr. Black.

Betrayed by Truths is the second book in the Truth or Lies series and picks up where book one, Taken by Lies left off. There's plenty of lies, twists and turns, betrayal, surprises, steamy sex, an unexpected cliffhanger that will leave you hanging on the edge, and so much more in this dark and intense story, that you'll be turning the pages to see how the story unfolds. This is a definite must read series!

Whew boy! If you thought the first book in this series was difficult, get ready for a rough ride in this one.
Here we have Kai who lost a game of "Truths or Lies" and now she's Enzo's to keep. She's just vibing at his beach house, slowly healing from everything that happened to her on the yacht. And homegirl is putting in WORK to heal. Then, once she's healed enough for Enzo's liking, they drop the bomb on her that she and Enzo must now battle it out in 5 rounds to determine who gets to be Black and run the crime syndicate. But Kai hasn't been preparing for this her whole life like Enzo has, so we're assuming she's at a disadvantage. It's also revealed that because Kai returned, Enzo must relinquish his title as Mr. Black until the contest determines a winner, and during the contest Enzo and Kai must collaborate as 50/50 partners on all decisions made for the company. This backfires when Zeke and Langston have to answer an SOS for one of their yachts, Kai refuses to go or let Enzo go, and Zeke is gravely wounded during the ambush. Once Enzo returns from getting his revenge for Zeke, he has to punish Kai for her role in endangering his men. They come to an agreement for a pretty interesting punishment, and then we're made aware of a HUGE secret about the abuse Kai experienced while on the yacht she was held captive on for years.
After her punishment and the healing both her and Enzo needed, they are faced with their first task in the challenge. They have to steal a ring. Seems simple enough but it goes all the way sideways. Kai ends up missing for WEEKS, and when she finally returns Enzo is convinced she betrayed him. And he decides to do the unthinkable. And it's one of the WORST cliffhangers I've ever read.
Enzo was so infuriating in this book. Why are the male characters always so hypocritical? He'd say one thing, do another, accuse her of doing something she didn't and then he'd turn around and do it himself. He blamed her for so much stuff while tiptoeing around his past actions and how they ultimately set everything in motion. I wanted to strangle him so many times.

If there's a bad decision to be made, she's definitely going to seriously consider it. And we spent the entire book with "I will forgive him/I can't forgive him." Pick one, sweetheart!
In the end, she does decide to forgive him based on some information he provides that he's been sitting on for a while, only for him to turn around and mess up WAY worse than previously thought. His impulsiveness was off the charts. I hope he gets his shit together in the next book I'm starting immediately. 🤣
I'd still recommend this book, and series (so far) to anyone with a high tolerance for talk of SA. It's weirdly cathartic for some (like me) who like to use this type of topic and plot as a type of immersion therapy.

Whew boy! If you thought the first book in this series was difficult, get ready for a rough ride in this one.
Here we have Kai who lost a game of "Truths or Lies" and now she's Enzo's to keep. She's just vibing at his beach house, slowly healing from everything that happened to her on the yacht. And homegirl is putting in WORK to heal. Then, once she's healed enough for Enzo's liking, they drop the bomb on her that she and Enzo must now battle it out in 5 rounds to determine who gets to be Black and run the crime syndicate. But Kai hasn't been preparing for this her whole life like Enzo has, so we're assuming she's at a disadvantage. It's also revealed that because Kai returned, Enzo must relinquish his title as Mr. Black until the contest determines a winner, and during the contest Enzo and Kai must collaborate as 50/50 partners on all decisions made for the company. This backfires when Zeke and Langston have to answer an SOS for one of their yachts, Kai refuses to go or let Enzo go, and Zeke is gravely wounded during the ambush. Once Enzo returns from getting his revenge for Zeke, he has to punish Kai for her role in endangering his men. They come to an agreement for a pretty interesting punishment, and then we're made aware of a HUGE secret about the abuse Kai experienced while on the yacht she was held captive on for years.
After her punishment and the healing both her and Enzo needed, they are faced with their first task in the challenge. They have to steal a ring. Seems simple enough but it goes all the way sideways. Kai ends up missing for WEEKS, and when she finally returns Enzo is convinced she betrayed him. And he decides to do the unthinkable. And it's one of the WORST cliffhangers I've ever read.
Enzo was so infuriating in this book. Why are the male characters always so hypocritical? He'd say one thing, do another, accuse her of doing something she didn't and then he'd turn around and do it himself. He blamed her for so much stuff while tiptoeing around his past actions and how they ultimately set everything in motion. I wanted to strangle him so many times.

QUESTIONS: Kai asked herself: How can she lust after the very person who tortured her, sold her, ruined her? … I kept wondering this very same same thing. After what she suffered by the hands of men, how could she want anything to do with any man, especially the one she believes was the cause of her torture? What is the TRUTH? Are lies really truths? At one point her dad says she’s not ready for the truth…. will she ever be? The saga continues. Anxiously awaiting the third book, Trapped By Lies.

EXPLOSIVE, ENTHRALLING
Betrayed by Truths, Truth or Lies Book 2 by Ella Miles is mind blowing and spectacularly explosive. Once again, this author has exceeded expectations with her exceptional writing and story-telling. Never knowing what to expect, this series keeps getting better. It’s gripping, raw, dark in it’s sensuality and psychology.
I love everything about this book (and the series so far), but most especially the characters. These two are so very deep and complicated not to mention strong as all get out! Kai is both vulnerable and resilient while Enzo is just as vulnerable while trying to balance the monster he is/can be and the protector he is at his core. Then when you consider the plot - the situations and circumstances - they find themselves in and you see how truly dark and diabolical this book and series truly is. It’s nearly impossible to put down the deeper one gets into the gripping scenes. They are literally one right after the other.
Overall, this book is a completely captivating and exceptionally well written book that has me on pins and needles waiting for the next book of this amazing series. I can’t wait!

In the next chapter of Kai’s and Enzo’s story things are really heating up! Even though the battle has begun, the real war is between these two! This is now a battle for the Black position and who is really at the disadvantage? Truths come out about Kai’s imprisonment and father. Enzo is stunned beyond belief and is even more determined to keep her as his! One of his rivals attacks and there are dire consequences for all! Enzo discovers how truly innocent Kai still is! The end game for the first round is UNREAL! The ending left me gasping and just WOW! The author continues to outdo herself with this series! The shocks just keep coming and she keeps everything action packed and fresh! The author hits you out of left field when you least expect it! I am grinding teeth wanting this next book to come out NOW~ The book ends in a cliffhanger and the reader will be SHOCKED and yelling! Kai is turning into a strong woman with Enzo's help, but he is just trying to get that side of her come out, he knows she is strong, confident and such a leader!!!

Enzo is a man I love and hate in the same breath. Kai I would love to get to know and she breaks my heart with all she's gone through. Them together are a match made in heaven. Neither of them know what's in store for them and I myself cannot wait to find out more truths. Neither of them have had a life anyone would want, but they both want each other and they need to keep listening to their hearts and find a way to make things work.
Ella Miles has blown my mind with these stories. I am surprised with every page and want to continue. When I see getting to the end I even start to slow my reading hoping to be able to extend the story (at least in my mind)! There are so many twists and turns, but they all bring Enzo and Kai back to each other and that is what and where they are supposed to be.

Oh man Ella.... seriously? The story of Enzo and Kai.... every emotion possible... Enzo is a poor tormented soul who desperately wants to do right but is constantly fighting the demons of his father.
Kai is starting to adapt to life off of the yacht and eventually in a moment of heated candor between herself and Enzo she reveals the extent of her torture aboard the boat.
But with these truths come more lies and so the betrayals and games continue....
Totally engrossing, edge of your seat tension and heartbreaking.
Excuse me while I find a darkened room so I can recover enough for the next instalment of this emotional rollercoaster.. I’m not sure how many more twists and turns my poor little heart can take😂

This one was a little better than the first one. Kai still had way too much inner dialogue...We did get to hear more from Enzo this time but I wish we could know how Enzo is finding out all this information like Kai's father is the one that sold her... I was starting to come around to Enzo but then he went and did the dumbest thing he could..That's part of the reason I didn't really feel sorry for his sob background story. Kai made so many stupid decisions and she really irritated me when she got back to the house after being missing for 3 weeks...Instead of her just telling Enzo she didn't have sex with Milo and that he beat her she went alone with it..Had she just told him the truth upfront I don't think he would have sold her to Milo..It was funny seeing Enzo crash out on the boat because he was jealous

This is book two of Kai and Enzo's epic romance. It picks up right where book one left off, so you must read book one first or you will be confused and not get the whole story. I'm loving this gripping tale. It is packed with intensity, raw emotions, suspense, nerve wracking tension, danger, drama and hot passion. These complicated characters will steal your heart as they pull you into their story. The well crafted story captures your attention and keeps you guessing and on edge as you have to deal with that "Waiting For The Other Shoe To Drop" feeling that takes up residence in your mind as the story unfolds. Do prepare for the cliffhanger and the wait for book three. I am freely posting a frank review.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "BETRAYED BY TRUTHS" WHOA!!!!! What a mindblowing rollercoaster ride this story took you on its so intense, full of angst, drama, suspense, intrigue, secrets, lies, betrayal, hot steamy sizzling scorching hot passion, twist you can't even keep up with.
Ella Mile's is a brilliant story teller she has you turning the pages one after another just to keep up its so addicting you can't get enough,

Oh, where do I start......well this book is really amazing. It is a definite must read! 4.5 STARS
So this is the second book is the Truth or Lies Series, although their is a prequel to read too. This is the continuation of Enzo, and Kai's story, and just another layer to the mystery of the truths and/or lies. This book is a whirlwind of emotions, mystery, and suspense. These characters are well written, and the story is intense, and pulls you in. I was crushed at the end, I wanted to read more right away, and I can't wait for the next book in the series. I highly recommend this book, and this series.

This second book in her Truth or Lies series by Ella Miles definitely takes the reader on a roller coaster of emotions, from extreme dark lows to highest highs, from despair to hope, and from hate to love. Ms. Miles says she wants the reader to feel everything her characters are feeling, and she definitely succeeded with this book. It is such a battle between dark and light or evil and good, for the control over the Surrender empire she puts Enzo and Kai through. Of course, it is also a hot developing enemy to lover relationship. The ending is not expected and feels like a knife twist to the heart as it sets up the next book. This is a voluntary review of an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Booksprout.

OMG this series is absolutely amazing. Enzo and Kai now have to compete in a series of games to see who gets to be black and rule the black kingdom and empire. Kai is annoyed that her father knew and never told her or prepared her for what is about to happen. Enzo thinks that he will win because of his father preparing him for this role his whole life. This story broke me apart especially when Kai found out who sold her and what she has gone through. I definitely recommend you read this series and you will not be disappointed as Ella is an incredible author and her writing is absolutely amazing.
