Captivated: A Viking Historical Romance

Rate this book
The cruel Viking king captured and claimed Princess Lita. He just never expected to love her.

What was supposed to be another boring royal wedding turns into much more. Princess Lita finds herself under attack when Vikings raid the chapel. She is captured and her father is usurped.

King Ozias is as alluring as he is deadly. He contradicts everything she’d been taught to believe about Heathens. He leaves her questioning both love and betrayal.

Because her father will return to his throne. Even if it’s over a Viking king’s dead body.

This is a historical fantasy Viking romance recommended for readers 18+

Few pages thru, I wanted to DNF'd it. But then I gave it other chance with open mind. Again after few pages after that, I could not stomach it any longer. But I refused to dnf I might as well finish it. Good thing it was short. So I read as fast as I can. I still don't like it. The only thing I was happy was that I finished it to the end. The men were gross and nasty. What ever happened to the whore slave?

Modern language with Viking of old doesn't mesh with me.

I am intrigued by Sven when he was looking at Lita. When I read it, seems more intense and wanting to read about Sven. But I'm afraid it's going to be similar to this first. So I won't take a risk and read the next.

I can't abide whoring. Ozasis fked his slave when he knew he will wed his future bride. In. Their. Kitchen. right next to the bedroom where Lita sleeps and then proceed to sleep with her after his fked. Dayum! Pure gross!

Holy cow this book was TERRIBLE! I got to the cabin scene and stopped right there. The scene didn't bother me--the main female character did! The entire first fifth of the book is just a massive whine-fest pity party! I disliked whatever-her-name- was SO.MUCH. The "woe is me" was so thick it could almost choke a reader!! And STOP SAYING ALAS!! Alas denoted SADNESS. Zero character descriptions or development. All the interactions were strange, especially with Truth. Like, what the heck was even going on?!? This book has put me off this author. My thoughts only. Feel free to read and form your own opinion.

This book was terrible! I DNF after I started reading about the MMC having sex with his slave right outside the door of the FMC. So gross!

This is a violent, action packed story with a cast of strong characters centering on Lita and Ozias. The author does a great job developing the story and painting her scenes in vivid detail. I was glued to the pages with all the happenings in this intense read. It's well written, moves quickly and smoothly and is a great read.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.

Very disappointing. First of all, chapter 1 should've been a prologue in my opinion.
Everything happened so fast we didn't even get a chance to know the characters. Think I missed the romance part of this book, oh no that's right, there isn't any!!

Alas was used way too many times, sometimes not even correctly. Not sure how these 2 fell in love when they spent max a few hours together, and most it was them shoving at each other. This guy was screwing the slave in their kitchen while she listened from the bedroom. The princess did not want to be with this viking, but I appreciated that she had guts and brains once she stopped complaining.
I did like how the viking was gentle with her, but there was just no chance for character development.

Then somehow when they're reunited they carry on together as if they're madly in love??? And as if she wasn't pretty much forced into marriage...I won't be reading the next book.

The FMC has no smarts or survival skills, and I don’t just mean “can’t make a fire in the woods,” although she certainly cannot do that either. But what bothers me is that she has no ability to talk her way out of a bad situation or sway people to her side or form a plan. She’s supposed to be a princess, but she had no political acumen. Things in this story just happen to her.

The MMC and the villain have almost no practical differences. Both of them are usurpers claiming to be kings of FMC’s father’s kingdom, both of them take lovers outside of wedlock, both of them kidnap the FMC against her wishes, both of them want to force her to marry them in exchange for her father’s freedom, both of them get handsy even when FMC is disgusted by them and pushes them away, and both of them are ruthless killers. Even children are not spared. I think the author subconsciously realized this, which is why she had to write in the FMC’s ill-fated attempt to

Here’s the thing. I’m perfectly capable of separating modern morality from historical. I can even enjoy a morally gray or dark romance with elements of dubcon, so long as there’s a HEA and no one is traumatized in the end. But the reason I disliked these characters and this plot so much is because it was so obvious that the author was trying to paint a contrast between the MMC and the villain, and they utterly failed to do so.

Maybe it would’ve been better if we had gotten more time for FMC to spend getting to know the MMC and falling in love, but he barely spoke her language and mostly talked like a caveman the whole time except for like two random times where he was weirdly eloquent, where it felt like the author just forgot who was talking or something. It was weird. But yeah, the book was super-short and there was zero page time dedicated to getting to know the MMC and his inner self/thoughts, so we have to judge him by his actions, and they ain’t good.

👎🏼

This book was honestly a disaster. The writing was horrible, the MFC was dumb and just accepted everything so easily. She didn’t even really bat an eye at her siblings being murdered in front of her and then 5 minutes later noticed how beautiful her captors eyes are. I was so confused at times and felt like there were so many plot holes. Like when they went to the tower to find King Charles and it mentions that Sven(all I can picture is a friggin reindeer IyKYK) was in the first room they passed. I’m sorry what first room? This room was never mentioned. Was he in there as prisoner or was he just stalking around? Because I thought he was captured but then at the exact perfect moment he bursts in the chapel room, so what happened to him? Was he locked up or not and how the eff did he get out if he was? There was just so many things like this that just pessed meg awf.
It’s safe to say I will not be continuing this series.😂

I loved this book so much. It was entertaining and well written. I felt like I was right there in their world with how descriptive the story was. Lita may have been a princess but she was not a weak and backward woman. She was determined and strong and a perfect match for Ozias. I instantly loved Ozias. He was possessive, protective and fierce yet gentle. I thought he was actually quite sweet, especially how he wanted to do anything he could to make Lita happy. The ending to their story was truly perfect. Would definitely recommend reading.

This is the complete four-book series, and includes Captivated, The Pagan Prince, Darkest Savior, and Chosen. I've really grown to love the author's historical romances. I'm not a student of history, so I can't attest to the historical accuracy of her books. But her books are well-written, with engaging story lines that draw my interest. The stories are cruel and violent; yet amid the action and suspense, there's always a touch of humor. The male characters in this series are super-alpha. But her heroines... They're all so different, but strong and amazing. I really enjoyed this book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

What the actual fuck what that book.

I wish we could give negative stars review !

So many plotholes and so many issues with the text.

The story is bunker and I swear the slave get more action than the FMC who's so annoying and whiny I wanted to slap her.

There is NO romance AT ALL and the love interest is missing for 1/3 of the book and when he finally show up again we don't even get to know where the fuck he was that whole time.

The ending is basically the FMC's childhood trauma coming to life and a good reminder (I'm being sarcastic as hell here if you can't tell) that women are babies machine.

I'm not okay.

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. The first book in the Amongst Kings And Vikings series begins with Ozias and Lita. It is a short historical romance where he has captured her. He is a King in his own right, and a force to be reckoned with. Lita is a strong young woman as well as a princess. They are drawn together regardless of their differences. Ozias wants to make her his wife while she wants that and aide for her family.

Kings, A Princess, Vikings:
I loved the cover, and I am glad that the visual of the cover looked just like the Viking King himself.
Strong, brutal, scary, yet he could be so sweet. Lita is a very enticing characters held the men's favor.
I liked the story very much and I am anxious to read the next in the series which will be about Ozias's brother Sven.
This is an adult story with many twists, some humor, some brutal situations and much more.
The forest scene was beautiful.
I enjoyed this story very much.
Mature rating high.

Stuff just happened-- the only reason I did not DNF was because it was so short. There is no romance. It is all telling-- not a single expansion on anything to give a reasonable explanation or an ounce of development. And then it just ends and I have no clue how we got there, who the characters are or why things happened. The length of this is not an excuse because it is still nearly 200 pages and that is more then enough time to have done something. I've read one-shot fanfics with more development than this.

This book was fast af!! You went through like 2 weeks within paragraphs. I really wished they spent more time in the characters and everyone who will be in the next books as well! I think it was a good story line just felt really rushed. The pregnancy was crazy after she spoke about her fears of it, she find out she pregnant in the next sentence.

This was a fast-paced read. I enjoyed it, Captivated was a nice break from my usual dark romance selections. Ozias and Lita are an unlikely pair but they work. I definitely will read book 2. I am intrigued by Sven, and I really dislike Truth.

Too short!

I would gladly have read more about Ozias and Lita. This book feels like it could have been paced a little slower. It goes from action to action and never really zooms in anywhere. Like it’s a skeleton waiting for flesh.

A fast-paced historical adventure with a romance. I'd say there's more time devoted to the adventure than the romance, but it was fun nonetheless.
