Updated description Aug 9, 2021:Based on feedback and the review below, I think it's worth clarifying the "beginner" I had in mind when I wrote this book.In order to get the most out of this book, you will want to be familiar with common technologies used in Software Engineering today. This includes tools like Docker, CI/CD, Cloud Providers, and software development lifecycles like Agile. You don't need to be an expert in these, that will come with time but you will need to know what those terms mean. The term "beginner" used here can be best thought of as someone beginning DevOps. If you have questions, feel free to contact me via the website you are a seasoned engineer or just getting started in your DevOps career, understanding all the moving pieces in DevOps can feel overwhelming. That's where this book helps. You'll learn a practical, real-world answer to the question "what is DevOps". You will also learn about the technical skills you need to hone so you leave with a better understanding of the DevOps machine. But wait, there's more!insert billymays.gifThis book also covers the soft skills that are even more important than your technical chops. Trust me on this one - the soft skills matter. You will learn how to identify the problems worth solving, and which problems are best left smoldering until you see actual flames. And for the grand finale, you'll learn how to get that coveted DevOps job and where to go from here. This book is entertaining, informative, and uses a humorous, casual writing style to convey the topics of DevOps as if it were a conversation with a friend. There are many technical books that try to pack as much technical jargon between the pages as possible. This book is not among them.
