As a Canva pro subscriber already, I still found this guide helpful and learned some new tricks and tips. There are lots of screenshot images to show the steps. It's like a Dummy guide. It would be better if it had a bit more editing. There are several spelling and grammatical errors in the book and it reads like casual dialogue. The sentences are often short and fragmented. It felt like reading the transcript of a YouTube video rather than a guide book. Several images also didn't show up properly on the ebook version. It came up as a box with a red cross for 4 images. Other than these issues, it's a very helpful guide.
As an experienced Amazon reviewer and an avid user of various design tools, I was thrilled to dive into "Canva: Professional Tips and Tricks When You Design with Canva." This guide is an indispensable resource for anyone looking to enhance their graphic design skills, whether crafting a business presentation or personalizing their social media posts. While I think that it is going to be challenging to keep this book up to date (since Canva changes things on a moment’s notice), this book is a great starting point for those who are new and even for those of us who are too ashamed to admit how much time we spend using it.
What sets this book apart is its comprehensive approach to using Canva. The author does a remarkable job of introducing Canva as a tool and a robust platform that rivals industry staples like Adobe's suite, which you often need a degree in graphic arts to use. The book starts with the basics, making it accessible for beginners, yet quickly scales up to advanced techniques that even seasoned designers will find invaluable. The step-by-step guidance is peppered with vivid photographs and real-world examples, making the learning process engaging and highly practical.
One of the most compelling features of this book is its layout. Each chapter is meticulously designed to build upon the previous one, ensuring a smooth learning curve. The author's favorite excerpt underlines his commitment to creating a unique and practical learning experience, blending humor with professional insights to keep the reader engaged and entertained.
For those wondering about Canva's practical applications, this book covers them all—from creating animated posts and custom colors to more sophisticated techniques like removing backgrounds from photos and applying duotone effects. It also includes hidden tools and features within Canva, especially those available in Canva Pro, making this guide a treasure trove of information.
The book's format is user-friendly, combining clear, concise instructions with descriptive and direct explanations. This makes complex concepts easy to grasp, and the numerous creative examples inspire readers to experiment and implement the techniques in their projects.
It’s also important to note the book’s practicality for solo creators and teams, emphasizing Canvas collaboration features. This aspect benefits business professionals who need to work together on projects without compromising creativity or efficiency.
The only drawback, which is minor in the grand scope of the book’s benefits, is its intense focus on Canva, which might not cater to users looking for broader graphic design principles. However, for those dedicated to mastering Canva, this book is a perfect fit.
In conclusion, "Canva: Professional Tips and Tricks When You Design with Canva" is an excellent guide that will not only teach you how to use Canva but also inspire you to explore the limits of your creativity. It’s a beautiful resource for creative and business professionals, with actionable advice and innovative design ideas. Whether you're a newbie to Canva or a Canva junkie (hello, my name is Jeff…I am a Canvaholic) looking to deepen your existing skills, this book is a must-have on your digital bookshelf.
To be completely honest, I bought this book to fill in the knowledge gaps as I have been using Canva for a few years but have been learning by doing - and really have been limiting myself to doing the same few things. I finally had an occasion to sit down and read the book while working with Canva and it's underwhelming, to put it kindly.
The book begins with a link for free downloads as a bonus for purchase. Had the links worked, they were supposedly related to marketing via TikTok. I'm less than optimistic. I'm assuming that the book is self-published as there were spelling and syntax errors throughout.
Working through the book, the majority of the information is covered by Canva through the platform's new user tutorials. The author invested the most time on styles, which he refers to as a "hidden tool." Nothing about styles is hidden, and the additional pages could have been better allocated.
Maybe it can be attributed to updates over the last three years since publication, but even the information included was not worth the spend. Canva in 2021, much like today, included capabilities for video and sound inclusions; however, the author made no mention of them, opting instead to focus on design elements such as creating a ripped paper effect (which can be learned for free through google, YouTube, or TikTok) rather than the professional applications as indicated in the description.
If one has had zero interaction with Canva or the internet and has Kindle Unlimited, I guess this is an option. Had I known what I know now, I would have stuck with teenagers on social media teaching me how to find the actual hidden tools in Canva.
This is a pretty good book for people just starting out with Canva, shows many of the tools & how to access & use them. Would work best if you are following along with the Canva application up on your computer so you can try the different tools as the author explains them. This book could use a better editor though as there were grammatical errors and stilted paragraphs in addition to a couple of the pictures didn’t come through due to broken links. Very basic but does have useful information for beginners
In my humble opinion, this is an excellent book, in terms of its main purpose: Teaching the reader how to use Canva quickly and effectively. It is a short and concise book. It is not a book for an experienced user of Canva. I have read many “negative” reviews about the author's writing style. However, I must point out that I did not acquire this book to learn how to write... I acquired it to learn how to use Canva more effectively.
As some one new to canva and trying to do more with graphic in my new business, this is a great guide and will be come my new go to document for remembering how to do things.
The breakdown on whether to use free or paid version is good, and sensible for a new user to determine if you need a free trial.
Really like this book and found did super helpful.
This is a useful and informative manual for those getting started with Canva. I felt like it could have used a bit more polish, but it was still packed full of information.
The book provided helpful information in navigating in Canva. This book is definitely worth researching and putting into action. It's not hard read nor implement the tips towards having a professional product.
For the most part book was informative and helpful in understanding how canvas works. The book could use a little more editing on spelling and sentence structure.
