In this practical guidebook for Christian artists, Matt Tommey shares clear, actionable steps that will help you learn how to start thinking about your life and art the way God intended, walk in both anointing and excellence as you create and authentically connect with people who want to buy your art for top dollar. You'll learn how to start renewing your mind, growing in your artistic gifting and selling your work without feeling like you're selling out. These aren't just pie-in-the-sky ideas, but proven processes that have worked for the thousands of artists that I've had the privilege of helping go from struggling to thriving. If you'll take these principles and apply them to your life, they will absolutely help you do the same. Everyone's story is different and I can't wait to see what God does in your life!
This is a short book, only 78 pages. I was lucky enough to get an audiobook version and listened to it this evening while I was painting.
The author is my art mentor - I joined his mentoring program a few years ago. I enjoy listening to him talk about art and what it takes for a Christian artist to be financially successful.
This book follows the usual path of his advice. He tells his testimony and the process of his own art development which is absolutely impressive and phenomenal. He started as a hobby artist but after years of inviting the Holy Spirit into his art and following the leads he received he's been earning and deserving a great payout for his artistic creations. He is a basketry artist.
This book is big on inspiration and tells about the success of several other artists who were inspired by the Holy Spirit. The book doesn't dwell on specifics. For everyone the inspiration of the Holy Spirit will be different so the main advice is to cultivate that relationship in your life.
If you're an artist who loves Jesus this book is worth reading.
I read this book knowing I needed redirection in my art. I saw where I was lacking and what I needed to begin to do and it's a process. It's God plus art not art plus God. It's what I need right now and I'm going to start the process. I'm 70 and I still have God given time to apply the principles to my life.
