Discover the Battle of Second Manassas in this captivating book on what transpired from August 28th to August 30th, 1862, near the Bull Run River in northeastern Virginia. The Battle of Second Manassas was part of the northern Virginia campaign under Confederate General Robert E. Like the first book of the first battle, this was another great read that I enjoyed. I feel that like the first, due to no communication and lack of skills this fight could have been settled in another way and spared another group of lives. Even though, this time they tried being smart and arranging the troops at different times on the field. I really enjoyed these parts of the book. The author did well in making the reader feel that they were apart of these decisions. It was nice to see the map in different parts along the storyline and seeing it with your own eyes. Overall, I again agree with the author on how this battle went down due to poor leadership and poor tactics. Still, this was a great book and I'm sure anyone will enjoy this read as well.

The author present an extremely detailed account of this battle replete with details of army movements prior to, during and subsequent to the intensive fighting that was the Second Battle of Bull Run. Reading this narrative helps one realize the viciousness of war, particularly during Civil War times.
Another disaster for the Union. Inept command and uncoordinated armies gave the more aggressive Confederate generals opportunities. Lee laid a trap and foolhardy Pope attack and lost.
