Waiting for You

Rate this book
How can Ava resist her best friend’s brother when she's crushed on him since childhood?

I didn’t think Alex could get any hotter, but his time at med school was good to him.
Dirty blond hair. A bit of scruff across his chiseled jawline. And a body beneath those scrubs that makes me think all sorts of naughty things.

Alex seems to be utter perfection… and he barely notices I exist.

Or so I thought. Lately, everywhere I look he’s there. Renting a room in my bed and breakfast. Devouring my pastries. Wanting to talk every morning over coffee. Is it possible my lifelong crush finally sees me as more than his little sister’s best friend?

A long-time crush ignites in passion in this small town romance by Lea Coll!

Waiting for You by Lea Coll was a heartwarming best friend's brother romance with loads of swoon and steam. I loved Ava and Alex as individual characters and together they are beautiful.
.
Ava always had a crush on her best friend Savannah's elder brother Alex St.James. But she never acted on it. Now Alex is back in town for a short time as he is doing a part of his medical school residency in local hospital. He is staying Juliana's B& B that is run by Ava. He is instantly attracted to her beauty and charming personality. But his career is at crossroads and he is not sure he is staying. Ava has been abandoned before and her heart is at risk.
.
I love the vibe of this series set in Annapolis Harbour. The author creates an authentic and vivid atmosphere with friends, families and details of the town. Ava is a sweetheart and she is cautious about opening her heart. She has a lot of dreams and she was not sure if she should try to achieve them. And Alex pushed her and supported her and helped her believe in herself. He is a great guy. With a big, caring and protective heart. Sexy and gorgeous. He wants to keep his family happy and Ava won his heart easily. He had doubts and confusions but they cleared once his feelings for Ava got serious. They are such a cute and hot couple together. This was heartwarming feels in every page.

Waiting For You by Lea Coll will make you feel all warm, fuzzy and blissful feelings.

This book is so good and has wonderful characters.

Ava and Alex have been friends since childhood and of course with Ava being younger she has always had a major crush on him. So, what happens when Alex returns to Maryland to complete part of his residency? She doesn’t want to, but will she act on her feelings?

Again, this book is sooo good, keeps you hanging on with them, and is a must read. You will not be disappointed!

I loved Alex and Ava. They began as friends and adolescent pranksters, but grew into so much more. And while they each appeared to be content from afar, they both wanted more in life. But would they be brave enough to reach for it, to work for it, and to make it happen?

This was a surprising holiday read that I didn’t even know I needed! Alex was back in town for a while for his residency, while Ava ran the B&B he was staying at. And when they allowed their attraction some freedom, these two scorched everything in sight. Even with the questions of how they could work, if they could make their dreams come true, and when they’d both be worth loving by another, these two refused to give up. Sure, there were a few bumps in the road, but the support and shoulder to lean on helped them both through to true happiness together. And if one of those shoulders belong to Juliana and another to Noah, then it’s even sweeter because those two were no strangers to conflict and trying to make love work in already full lives.

Taking the ride from friendship to love with Alex and Ava wound up being a Christmas treat for me and I’m sure it will be for you, too. After all, there’s music and love and family and NYC for a hot minute. How can it be anything but wonderful?

4.5 Star review Waiting For You (Annapolis Harbor #6) by Lea Coll

From the first chapter I was drawn in and quickly became invested in the story that Ms. Coll wove. Ava has had feelings for her best friends brother Alex for as long as she can remember but he doesn’t seem to notice her or does he?
Lea Coll has a way of writing that resonates with the reader. I love small town romances ans she does this well. Ava has never acted on her feelings out of respect for her friendship with Savannah but sometimes the heart wants what the heart wants and as it finally appears that Alex is taking notice of her, Ava will be forced to make a choice.
I loved these characters, their support for one another was heart warming. When Alex decides to stay at Ava’s bed and breakfast attraction soon ignites. Could this be the start of a forever love? One click and find out.

This is a very delicate book with loving characters and sexy scenes that will make you fall in love with everything. This series is very good and exciting. Now, we get to know Ava (Julianne's sister from the previous books). She is managing her sister B&B in Annapolis while indulging her love for bakery. Alex is her teenager crush and big brother of her best friend. He is graduating medical school and decides to do the last rounds of his residency near Annapolis to be with his family a little time. Alex is a dream come true and Ava is so sweet and loving. They connect immediately but in view of the difficulties in life they hesitate a bit. Their romance is sweet, slow and so good that you will love it as I did.
I loved this book!

While this is a best friend's brother romance it also has the holiday feel to it that makes it sweet, fun, and sexy. The chemistry between Alex and Ava is scorching and I loved that even through their hurdles they made it so they could work.

A series that just keeps giving flawless, mesmerising heartfelt storylines, Ava and Alex's story will wrap itself around you as the charm of Annapolis Harbor once again produces its magic against all the odds.

Lea Coll's stories are always so different, they have great depth and the chemistry between the couples is always explosive, but what truly made Waiting for You so special was the connection I experienced with Ava and Alex right away,

Ava has crushed on her best friends brother since childhood, sneaking out to listen to him play the cello was Ava's little secret, but Alex ever knew he kept it to himself, although his passion was performing his path was set on becoming Doctor, now in his final year of residency in NY he is home for the holidays, surrounded by family and reconnecting with Ava, Alex is going to have to make some tough decisions come the New Year, but Ava is dealing with issues of her own, feeling that her mom abanded her when she was young, her dad and sister won't talk about it. But now with Alex back those feelings of always being second best grow with every day that draws near to Christmas.

I enjoyed Ava and Alex‘s story. Ava is Juliana's sister and she's the manager of Juliana's B&B. She didn't know Alex, her childhood crush, is back to play at her sister's wedding and also staying at the B&B for a few months. Things went unexpectedly when they started spending time together and supporting each other's passion. Though they both know at the end of it, Alex is going to get back to New York to finish his residency.

I think it's fairly a sweet read. But what I loved most is when they supported each other to pursue their dreams. And I loved those scenes where Alex played for his patients, that was sweet. They were ups and downs because of Ava's insecurities and issues. But they work together for it.

What a great story!

Waiting for you is the sixth book in Lea Coll‘s Annapolis Harbor series and my first read by this author. I have seen many of her books everywhere and always loved the covers so I just had to finally read one of her books. Waiting for you is a fun, holiday, best friends brother romance about a BnB manager and her best friends brother who‘s back in town for a few months.

I really enjoyed Ava and Alex‘s story. It tugged on my heartstrings and was overall a really great read for the holidays including many great christmas references and some very steamy scenes for a little bit of warmth.

I will definitely read more from Lea! The writing was great. I was easily sucked into it and could have spent a little more time with those characters! Loved that it was low drama and lots of love!

Loved it! From the first chapter to the last, I couldn't put it down. I absolutely loved Ava and Alex. This is a best friend's brother romance.

Ava and Alex both have some insecurities. Ava is afraid of being left and Alex doesn't think he can be in a relationship with his career. I'm not going to lie, I was a little nervous that they were going to fight their feelings for way longer than they did, but I was pleasantly surprised. There was hardly any angst which was perfect!!

I loved that we saw Nolan and Juliana again. This was a great way to end the series! Can't wait to read Savannah's story in the new series, Second Chance Harbor.

I’ve loved every book I’ve read by Lea Coll and she didn’t disappoint with Waiting for You. This is Ava’s story, the younger sister of Juliana. Ava is the manager of Juliana’s B & B and she’s getting the chance to try her recipes out on the guests. At Juliana and Nolan’s wedding, she’s listening to the cello player and thinks of Alex, her best friend’s older brother that she crushed on. Then, she realizes, it is Alex. He’s back in town to complete some of his residency requirements. He always planned to return to New York to get a job and Ava thinks no one will ever stay for her. Her mom didn’t, so why would Alex. Grab your copy of this steamy, emotional read and see what happens. I can’t wait to read the next book from this author.

Ava has had a crush on Alex since they were kids. He has come back home to Maryland to complete part of his residency. She is still attracted to him but does not want to act on those feelings for many reasons. He is her best friend's brother, and she is very close to his family, attending family dinners, and he is here temporarily for his residency. He talks about returning to New York to complete his residency and looking for a permanent position in a New York hospital. No one stays with her. She has always felt she was not worthy of love. Her mother left when Ava was younger and Ava always felt it was her fault her, then her ex took a job out of state and never asked her to go and now here is Alex only in town to complete part of his residency and then he plans to return to New York.
When Alex came back home, he figured after his short time he would head back to New York, but he has come to realize there is nothing holding him to New York besides his job. His apartment is not a home just a place to sleep. It is hard to start a relationship when you are going through medical school. The long hours and stress are hard enough. He often uses his cello playing to fill the loneliness and to help his patients and their families in difficult times. His parents never understood his need for his music. they did not understand that he could have both music and medicine.
Ava saw what music was to him, she was his first fan. When she was younger and stayed at his house, she would sneak from her room at night to him play, she never let him know but he figured it out it was her. She understands what his music does for people, it is medicine for the soul. Eva cannot help but fall in love with Alex but what will happen when he returns to New York. For Alex what will happen when he returns to his empty apartment or will he realize all that home, in Maryland has waiting for him.

Every time I read a book by Lea Coll I am totally and completely blown away! I fall head over heels for these characters, for their friends, their families. I absolutely LOVE Ava and Alex! I love that they saw something they liked in one another during their childhood, and when they reconnected as adults those things were magnified. I loved watching them get to know one another, encourage and support one another, and want to help the good things in their lives grow! Overcoming those obstacles they'd struggled with, Ava's feelings of inadequacy and Alex's feelings of lacking support from his parents in his love of music was such a huge thing, but doing it together made it seem so much less impossible. This truly is a beautiful love story you won't want to miss!

I was hoping I had found a new series since the ratings were good on these…but no. Absolutely not. I hate to sound mean but this was awful. If I hadn’t been reading it for a challenge it would have been a DNF for me. The entire book was “he’s my crush…but I can’t date him because he’s my best friend’s brother…because he’s moving away…but I really like him” repeat…repeat. From Alex, “Ava is so awesome but I can’t ever have a relationship because I’ll work long hours and I’m going back to New York” repeat, repeat, repeat. There was the side story about her mom. I’m also sick of heroines who bake. It’s overdone. I know I sound mean but this book just got on my nerves.

Best friends brother is my second favorite trope . Ava has known Alex since she became best friends with his sister Savannah , as teenagers they used to play pranks on each other , but what Ava never admitted, was having a crush on him and loving listening to him play the cello .

After he went to medical school in New York he was out of sight , out of mind for her , but then at her sisters weeding there was a cello playing guy who reminded her of him . Imagine her surprise at seeing that it was none other than the man invading her thoughts . She didn’t know that Alex came home for a part of his residency .

This story is beautiful and easy to read , yet it pull at your heartstrings . Alex is an accomplished in his career , a few month short of becoming a doctor , but his parents don’t really approve and understand his need to play music too . For him is therapeutic and helps balance the stress his job is provides , and Ava is one of the few people understanding him.

“ I had a soft spot in my heart for anyone who loved music . The fact that she used to sneak through my house at night to listen to me play was something I’d always treasure.”

Alex was staying after the wedding at the B&B Ava manages for her sister , but decides to extend his stay for the duration of his residency . What comes next is a non relationship where they both get to know each other as adults . They both have a lot going on , he still thinks that an hospital in New York is the best choice for his career , so becoming involved with someone so important for his family isn’t a good choice ., because Ava is as much part of his family as he is .Ava loves managing the B&B but it isn’t as fulfilling as she tough , her love consists of doing something else , Alex is a great help in encouraging her take a leap in the right direction .

“ As a kid , she’s been annoying . As an adult she was irresistible . Determined , competitive , sweet and caring .”

I love the way Lea developed the story line , she gave us so many sweet wonderful moments , the angst level is really low , but at the same time both characters are internally struggling with what they mean to each other and what that means to them future wise . Attraction is not a problem for them , they both have pretty dirty thoughts from the very beginning , they chemistry is off the charts hot ! Being together is effortless and feels right for them .

“ I feel like I’ve been waiting my whole life for something. I think I’ve been waiting for you .”

If you’ve read the other books in the series , we’ve get a little glimpse in the lives of previous characters . I love the balance between the side characters and the main ones , they both do their thing with other people , Alex didn’t become the main focus for Ava . He makes time for his nephew and sister , she meets new people who become a great support system for the changes she’ll make .

“ The craziest thing I ever did was take a chance on her , letting myself fall deeper each day into the best thing that ever happened to me.”

How will they resolve the issue called distance , that will arise when he needs to go back to New York for the last stretch of his residency ? I’ll let you read and find out !

Waiting for You is the newest addition to the Annapolis Harbor Series and is the story of Ava and Alex. Ava and Alex have known each other since they’ve been kids. Ava is Alex’s sister’s BFF and she was nearly at their house as much as she was at her own. From the time that she was young she had a massive crush on Alex and absolutely loved his music. She would sneak outside of where he was playing just to listen to the beautiful music. Because of her deep friendship with Savannah, Alex’s sister, she never told anyone of her crush nor did she act on it. Alex was older and left town to attend medical school not coming home for many years and Ava made her life as well. They run into each other by surprise when Alex plays his cello at Ava’s sister’s wedding and are immediately interested. Alex decides to stay at Ava’s B & B rather than with his parents so it puts the two of them in the same location which becomes quite handy for them! 😉 Both Alex and Ava have baggage in terms of their families and those expectations and strike up a friendship that is supportive and loving. They begin to spend time together even amongst their hectic schedules, him a busy ER resident and her a busy B & B manager. The more time they spend together the more their interest and friendship deepens and they decide to pursue a ‘fling’ while Alex is in town. Their relationship is private because they don’t want anyone else’s expectations or comments about what they are doing, especially Savannah’s.

What I loved about these two was their unwavering support of one another and their true heart’s desires – Alex’s desire to use music in any way that he could to continue feeding his soul so that he could do his very difficult job and Ava’s desire to start her own business but concern over her feeling’s of inadequacy. Their unwavering support for each other’s dreams just deepened their ‘fling’ to quickly turn into something far more serious. As Alex shares more of his music and patients with Ava and she shares more of her baking and business ideas, they grow together as adults and quickly realize that each other might just be their other half. Each one experiences stress over whether the relationship will continue after Alex returns to New York to complete his residency and if so, what will their relationship look like. They are mature, real, fun, sweet and have incredible chemistry together! You find yourself rooting for them to figure things out because they just are so sweet together!

Overall this is a beautiful love story full of kindness, fun, sass and heat! What a great way to spend a few hours and escape my real life for a while 😉! Another terrific addition to the series that is not to be missed!

Another wonderful story in the Annapolis Harbor series!

Ava has been working at the B&B for her sister for quite a while now. She quit her graphic design job and decided to help her sister out. She bakes, cooks cleans and takes care of the guests . All while experimenting in the kitchen with her delectable treats. On the day that her sister marries Nolan, an unexpected wedding guest makes her heart stopped. When did he get back?

Alex is attending his residency blocks in Baltimore. When a last-minute request to play his cello at his friend’s wedding comes up he agrees. As he plays he finds the stare of his little sister’s best friend Ava. Wow she has really grown into a beautiful woman. Little does he know fate has requested him to change paths.

Overall this sixth installment is a beautiful and very touching read. Ava struggles with some abandonment issues. She feels as if anybody who ever cares leaves her behind. She struggles with doing the things that she loves most, and respect for doing for others she loves.

Alex struggles with doing what his parents have dreamed for him. Alex really loves to play the cello, but his parents never supported his dream. Play in has been his outlet throughout his residency in med school. He struggles with doing what he feels will make his parents happy, versus what would make him happy.

Together these two characters heal each other. They embark on a journey neither of them expected. It’s a beautiful story, filled with so much love, caring and support. Readers will really enjoy getting to know Ava and Alex. They are beautiful souls, whose love is amazing.

I highly recommend this book for all those who love a good feel good romance. It can be read as a standalone book or if you want to get to know all the characters in the Annapolis harbor series, start with book one. I promise you will not regret it.

Waiting for You is the sixth book in Lea Coll’s Annapolis Harbor series. I’ve been reading from the beginning, but all the books can be read as stand-alone titles. I’m a series fanatic, so it’s my default to recommend reading them all in order. However, it’s not at all necessary here as there is just the right amount of backstory to fill you in without feeling like it’s an information dump and distracting you from the plot. For those of us following the series from the beginning, each book feels like coming home. The characters are like those old friendships you pick up without missing a beat, and you’re excited to hear what’s going on in their lives.

Waiting for You is a contemporary, small-town, best friend’s brother romance with lots of chemistry and steaminess between the main characters. They’ve known each other since childhood, but with both on the cusp of starting impressive careers and facing family challenges, it’s hard to see how any relationship could work. When the slowly smoldering attraction catches fire, the desire to have more than just a fling challenges both of these stubborn characters. It was fun and, at times, quite emotional watching the ebb and flow of the relationship and the struggles Ava and Alex faced on their journey to HEA. My only criticism is that it felt like both main characters repeated many of the same mental arguments, which began to feel redundant after a while. With that said, I remain a big fan of Lea Coll’s and very much look forward to what’s next from her.

One of my favorite things about a Lea Coll romance is the multiple layers of goodness in each book. Obviously the main attraction in Waiting For You is our couple, Ava and Alex. She’s the best friend of his younger sister; the girl who’s crushed on him for years, even as they teased each other growing up. Back in town for a few months while doing his residency at the city hospital, they reconnect, but in a much more grownup way.
Ava loves their small town, having come back to run her sister’s B&B. She’s content, but feels something might be missing. She still has abandonment issues stemming from her mother leaving while she was a young teens. It makes Ava reluctant to get involved with Alex not only because his family is important to her, but because he’s not going to be around for long.
Alex has always felt that his love of music wasn’t taken seriously by his family, but he finds encouragement from Ava to use his music to help himself and others. And suddenly, working in NYC doesn’t hold the appeal it once did.
I loved everything about their romance. While the story addresses some serious themes, its relatively low on angst, which these days is my preferred comfort level in my books. It’s full, though, of great dialogue, interesting characters and a beautiful setting. It’ll make a great addition to any romance library.

Ava and Alex story stole a part of my heart that I’ll never get back. I fell in love with this book since the very first chapter. Bestfriend’s brother who was my first crush turned into my whole existence kind of situation. I many times though that this book was going to break my heart (just like my other favorite books) but it was an unexpected surprise, yes I did cried because I love story like theirs, even if it’s just that, a story, written in a book, will make you feel all the emotions. The story/characters development was amazing. You could see how Ava became more confident and comfortable on her on skin chapter by chapter, and how Alex was a big part of the whole process. How they were both there for each other even though it was hard from time to time. This story will steal your heart and make you believe that everything in this life is possible if you want it bad enough, that the most important thing in this life it’s to be happy with yourself and what your doing, that family it’s everything, and that no matter how good that job it’s at the end of the day it’s nothing if you don’t have someone to come home to, that supports you, understands you, and accepts you for who you are. Thank you Lea for this beautiful story.

They've known each other since they were kids - and tortured each other accordingly.

Ava is best friends with Alex's sister. They all grew up together, with Ava and his sister annoying Alex at every opportunity. It's been years since they've seen each other. Ava grew up to discover a passion for baking and running her sister's B&B. Alex, meanwhile, went off to NYC to become a doctor. He's never forgotten his passion for music, though, and has found ways to incorporate his passion into his work.

When he sees Ava all grown up, Alex begins to discover a new passion. Ava, for her part, has had a crush on Alex since they were kids. Now that they're both adults, will they do anything about their mutual attraction?

Alex is a sensual and passionate man. His attraction to Ava as an adult is immediate and intense. He's not sure how much he can offer her, since he's still in the midst of his residency and determined to start his career in medicine back in New York. He can't deny what he feels for the sweet, hard-working and kind Ava, however. Ava is a strong, independent woman. She's made some hard choices in her quest for happiness. She's never forgotten about the intelligent and talented boy who has now grown into a handsome and passionate man. He might destroy her heart if she lets him.

These two characters have an intense physical connection that is balanced by caring and kind support for each other. Just a really lovely couple. They're both a little bit hesitant to pursue something lasting, as they each are pursuing their own goals and carry their own baggage into the relationship. Told from both Alex's and Ava's points of view, the reader begins to understand their doubts and fears. Sometimes, each of them get a bit too stuck on what they think they should be doing, rather than being in the moment and evaluating where they are and what they want.

Four stars for this small town romance.

This is an honest, voluntary review of an ARC of the story.

Ava is best friends with Savannah and works at her sisters B & B

Alex is Savannahs older brother and Ava's childhood crush.

Alex is home from college and gets a room at The B&B. Alex is doing a rotation fire med School in Maryland then he is back to NY.

"I played the nights you came over...I played for you." - Alex
Alex and Ava meet up at her Ava's sister's wedding after not seeing each other for years. She knew the handsome guy playing the cello looked familiar, it was her best friend's brother. The boy she annoyed growing up, but would sneak and sit on the stairs to listen to him play his cello. He's now living in New York completing his residency to become a doctor. When his rotation brings him home to Annapolis and living in Ava's sister's B&B they become closer than they ever imagined possible. He's encouraged her to follow her dreams as she's encouraged him unlike anyone else in his life. Will love be enough to keep these two making music, after all - he promises to play for her always.

All the feels! Ava & Alex’s love story is one you won't be able to forget. A hot hero with a heart of gold and a feisty heroine who never gives up. A childhood crush that turns into so much more years later. The perfect blend of intoxicating chemistry, swoon, sass, witty banter, laughs, feels, and an abundance of steam. These characters together were so beautiful. Passionate. Real. This book is exactly why I love reading and why reading is a beautiful escape for me. I could not read it fast enough, but savored every word at the same time. I highly recommend this book & series.

Dr. Alex St. James has returned to his hometown of Annapolis to complete part of his medical residency at the nearby University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. He's also an accomplished cellist, so when he learns that the musician hired to play at a family friend's wedding has dropped out at the last minute, he volunteers to fill in. In gratitude, the bride, Juliana Breslin, offers him a complimentary room at her bed and breakfast. Alex had planned to find a short-term rental for the duration of his stay in Annapolis, but he soon comes to appreciate the amenities of the B&B as well as the chance to catch up with Juliana's sister Ava, the live-in manager. Ava has been best friends with Alex's younger sister Savannah for years and secretly had a crush on him when they were teenagers. She's surprised to find that her feelings for Alex are as strong as ever, but as her best friend's brother, he's off limits. Besides, she's focused on her job at the B&B and dreams of running her own bakery, which she's close to making a reality. The more time Ava spends with Alex, the more difficult it becomes for her to resist him, but what happens when it's time for him to head back to his real life in New York?

I really liked Alex and Ava as a couple. They were both incredibly likeable and relatable, as were the challenges they faced. Alex was pretty flirty with Ava from the beginning, which was kind of surprising since he seemed set on avoiding serious relationships while he was still a resident. His reasons for not wanting to date were completely understandable, however, as were his concerns about his family's reaction to him dating Ava in particular given her close relationship with them. Ava had fears of her own after her mother walked out on her family when she was a teenager, and her father and sister's refusal to talk about it ever since left her with the impression that it was somehow her fault. She'd been thinking about her mother a lot lately, and Alex encouraged her to track her down and get answers if it was what she needed to move forward. Even though the answers she found weren't what Ava had hoped they'd be, I'm glad she (as well as Juliana and their father) were able to get closure on that chapter in their lives by the end of this book.

Overall, I really enjoyed "Waiting for You" and highly recommend it for all fans of contemporary/small town romance. I look forward to reading Alex's sister Savannah's story next year, which will launch the new Second Chance Harbor series.
