Short but impactful

Relationship is all about trust, love and happiness but in some cases it's just not possible. Extra marital affairs, possessiveness and little detachment can spoil a relationship to the end.
The story has all the above factors in it.
Good read.

It hardly took me 1 hour of my Monday afternoon to finish this book . When I completed 33% of the book , I thought to myself "let's finish it in one go". And I finished it in one go that afternoon on Amazon prime reading.

The story was short and sweet. The story about a couple and their married life with sprinkle effect of their past experiences. The main theme is relationship and what it can make or break it. The author rightly said "People are of two kinds—leeches or fireflies" . In the entire story the protagonist Harish’s relationship with his father , Asmita and Sara, all can be seen with this lens; either they are leeches or fireflies.

I loved the way characters were brought and used to build the story. The way they relate their present life and the past good and bad experiences, adds a different flavor to the story. The way characters are described and their thought process is also well expressed in story.

So what's there in Harish and Asmita life ?
What's going on in their relationship? Whether it's leeches or fireflies? Find out yourself by reading this short story.
The end leaves you with some questions too and "thanks for your time" 😁.

This book is character driven and the story revolved around Harish and his wife and how their relationship changes over a course of time.I think the author intended to show us the problems and issues comes in a relationship but it didnt do justice to any of that. The charcters and story was full of stereotypes and characters were flawed. Dont get me wrong I love reading about Imperfect, unlikeable characters and their journey but author projected these characters as the good ones, THE HEROES which just didnt sit right with me.The story was extremely basic and didnt explore the subject of Heterosexual relationship very well. Characters didnt evolve and their thought process was of a teenager. For example Harish's wife had two miscarriages and now was pregnant with Their 3rd child. His in laws had come to his home to stay with their daughter and he sulked about the fact that he didnt like the food they prepared and he felt so lonely that he started thinking about his Ex from college. Author wrote "he wished things had been different. He wished he could have been with sara. Instead here he was somewhere in Mumbai, eating alone at a restaurant, having to go back to his VERY PREGNANT, VERY DIFFERENT WIFE. like WTF.
There were abrupt twist and turns in the story that annoyed me more. When Harish found out about his wife cheating on him with her boss, he didn't talk to her and acted as if nothing had happened. Why??? Instead of sorting it out like an adult and parting with his wife he decided to shift to another city with her. Also he told her about the shifting after he finalised everything and she protested for few seconds but then agreed?? Like what is going on? Why the characters are not behaving rationally, like normal grown ups? I intact laughed at their stupidity often while reading. They really didnt know how to deal with relationships.

I didn't like it.

Am sorry for the rating. I really expected a beautiful story from her. Anyway it's always a choice. Am sorry preethi but I didn't even understand what the plot is or what you are trying to say.

The story is quite good and engaging but the way the story ends is confusing for me like what happened suddenly. If you are looking for a short story this is a good book but you will not be happy with the ending.

A short story by preethi shenoy , I grabbed it from prime reading to escape from monotonous routine. It was a nice read , about a dysfunctional marriage but it certainly lacked characterization & needed depth. Haven't expected this from her

I was highly anticipating this book. Loved the insight and background story she provided about the characters. Was able to understand their actions. It had a scope for expansion. Felt the ending to be a bit abrupt. I heard that she was inspired by a news story, she did a great job in working on it. Wish she could try something different other than cheating husbands and wives. But that is what is going on.

Its a short read. Story revolves around the relationship between Harish and Asmita. Its all about how one's desires or wants changes the well-being with an unexpected scenario at the end.
It keeps oneself involved till the end. Well written story with an important and knowable lesson for unhealthy relationships. It contains the aspects from real life.
Preeti Shenoy's Stories are mostly about relationships.

Kind-of Meh! But Preethi Shenoy books are always like that.

A helpless lady protagonist. A chauvinistic husband/boyfriend character. All present here.

More like a predictable mega-serial, but with modern settings.

Fast-paced and easy-to-read makes her a go-to author when I find myself reading less and the habit of reading relegated to lower priority because of other things.

Overall, good.

4.5 Stars.

I always love a story by Preeti Shenoy, especially if it is about the setting of a marriage, love story and the married couple. I have read 3 short stories today written by her and what I have observed is that her way of punishing those characters for their misdoings are same in all these 3 stories. I wonder is it how the author thinks the things can be done to get justice only? This story and the writing style is amazing and something I can re-read again though.

Quick shirt read, it’s very gripping and had to finish it in one go as I couldn’t put it down. However nothing new when it comes to Preeti Shenoys works so some may find it boring. Loved the writing style as there was a lot of hidden meaning behind every setting and as a reader you need to be focused to pick those up else you will lose the plot

Not the best by the author. The book kicks off with a promise but fails to keep the reader interested as the story wanders off the main theme. Quite a predictable climax and it was very abrupt as if the writer ran out of ideas. It could have been much much better if it had not ended so flatly.

Amazing short read

Preeti Shenoy has worked yet another wonder with her pen. This is an amazing short read which can be read in a very short time. A story which speaks about love and to what extent love acts. Enjoy reading with a cup of tea or coffee!!

A very dark tale

This book was very good. Although it was a dark one, it encompassed the emotions of a human in his darkest times. And it's from one of my favourite authors! How could I not give it a read? 😊

A truly marvelous piece of Writing.

I don't read short stories generally, but this one, it was gripping till the very end. From the childhood friendship to the actual adult world and maritial affairs. It was a fabulous short story!

Engrossing !!!

There are lot of things which is not written but you will understand. You have to read between the lines. The pain, the dilemma, the reality check and the plan - all make sense after you finish the book. Narration is really good... Best for a quick read....

Short Review for the Short Story

A quick short story by Preeti Shenoy .Though one could easily identify the theme is dark , you might find it bit difficult to bring about a conclusion on what exactly it conveys .

Thanks for you time in attempting a new style Preeti

Simple short story
The writing as usual is gripping. Narration bang on but the story didn't resonate with me. The ending was probably the biggest let down.
