This is a GREAT read! I truly enjoy reading about the sparks that fly during first contact. I know that you will enjoy all of the hotness going on in this one. I highly recommend you adding it to your library. It has a great plot, great character interaction and it flows from scene to scene very well. 5 stars. I love the fact that Tal had Kayla's back no matter what and his faith was solely in her actions.
Two strangers meet in an unlikely way. Little did they know they were supposed to meet formally. A thief with an elaborate scheme steals $20M from the bank Talbert owns and Kayla manages. The chase is on to recover the money, catch the thief and his accomplice while Talbert and Kayla are falling in love. This was a good story full of action and intrigue.
Kayla Thompson has just been summarily fired and is leaving her office with just her box of possessions under her arm when she runs into a tall, handsome stranger.
The stranger turns out to be Tal Reynolds. President of the bank that just merged with hers and the reason she no longer has a job. The two are immediately attracted before they realize the identity of the other.
But Kayla hasn't really been fired. A larcenous employee fraudulently fired Kayla in order to implicate her in a massive embezzlement scheme. But he didn't count on Tal being on the scene nor on how protective Tal was becoming of Kayla.
Eh. This wasn't a bad book. Really. I just really dislike books where the h/h meet in a very ho-hum way (her box falls and he helps her pick up the scattered papers) and their hands touch and each feels an electrical charge. She actually feels the hairs stand up on her arms and she can barely speak, so struck is she by his fabulousness. And they are immediately hot for each other.
I just didn't buy the overwhelming quickness of their relationship. Tal sees her and is in relationship mode almost immediately. So, yeah, just Eh. I actually liked the fraud subplot. I just felt the romance was quick and intense but not in a total credible way.
Also, this was a short book. I think it was a bit pricey for the length.
This is my first time reading a story by this prolific author in this persona. The book is a suspense/romance set in the banking community. Tal Reynolds, bank president, and Kayla Michaels meet outside of his newly acquired bank. Kayla has been fired from her job by a person who turns out to be an embezzler. Not realizing their banking connection Kayla and Tal immediately feel chemistry. The story details their search for the truth AND the money as their feelings deepen. A side story briefly and peripherally shows her sister falling for the tech guy, Zach. It would be nice to read about them in their own story.....is that story out there??
Chances Are is not only a hot, love at first sight romance but has an interesting bank fraud plot. Kayla's bank is slated for closure and she is unceremoniously fired from her job. On her way out she's bumped, drops her belongings and is helped by a gorgeous man (Tal, who happens to be the new bank President) and thus begins their whirlwind romance. Kayla and Tal are a fun couple to read about, I loved their honesty with each other. However, to me the story picked up about a quarter of a way in when they realize their bank's accounts have been tapped into and money withdrawn. The drama of both their relationship and uncovering who is responsible for the crime had me quickly turning the pages. I recommend this quick read to romance lovers who appreciate a little intrigue as well.
A great story. Kayla is fired from her bank manager job and while leaving with her box is bumped into but assisted by an attractive man. Little did either of them know he was her new boss Tal. The person who fired Kayla had already been fired and Tal had him escorted out. Then it was discovered money was missing and Kayla has been implicated in the theft. So starts a journey of intrigue and romance as Tal and Kayla hunt for the missing money, the thieves and their feelings which are growing for each other. An enjoyable read.
Love the suspense, it kept me engaged. Tal’s and Kayla’s slow burn to the relationship was just right. He may have been ready as soon as he met her, but I was pleased she didn’t give in immediately. I have to say I didn’t get who it was immediately, I had someone else in mind as the suspect. Enjoyed it.

Love the instant connection between Kayla and Tal. The trusts and turns you have to keep reading to find out about the missing money. Love the push and pull of their relationship and the pasts they both have to overcome to be together.
Not the worst, but not the best book. Not sure I would bother to recommend. Very basic story that didn’t seem as ‘suspenseful’ and you could see where things were going before they happened.
I keep going back and forth from 3.5 to 4. I will stick with 4 because it actually was a good read. It was missing something but not sure what, right now.
