Self-control.

A Hit!

I’ve been seeing a lot of positive reviews for this series and I understand why! GeeBee and the Granny Matchmakers are hilarious! I can’t wait to see what shenanigans they get their grandchildren and strangers into.
When West’s grandma tries to fix him up with a girl he comes up with a counter strategy, have his brother take her on as a back-up singer and fake girlfriend. That all blows up in West’s face when he meets Harmony and realizes she really is perfect for him.
I loved Harmony’s clumsiness, sincerity, and talent. I loved how West saw her and her needs. It was obvious to anyone with eyes that he loved her! This story was adorable!
Read it if you want to laugh your way through a sweet romance.

I loved the beginning of this book. I liked the characters but the execution was lacking. Our characters are supposed to be early to mid thirties and act like teenagers. The whole does he like me because I like him but I don’t know if he liked me got old fast.

Sadly this one was a miss.

Swoony and Hilarious read

This is another book I enjoyed and was so entertained from beginning til the end. The first scene (meet cute scene) already piqued my attention. This story is so hilarious, swoony and sweet ….that you will feel all giddy and happy inside as you read on. And it gets better and better at every turn of a page.  I loved the ever meddling lovable grannies. One of my favorite scene was the restaurant scene when Harmony meets Geebee.

All of Harmony's and Wests insecurities, worries and fears created a really bumpy love story but entertaining and keeps things interesting. All throughout the book West was always doing so many sweet things for Harmony. He's so lovable!
There were so many misunderstandings and assumptions that caused many frictions between Race, West and Harmony.

Overall this story has many happy and hilarious moments and banters that will keep you hooked. You just want to keep reading to find out what will happen next and what do the lovable sneaky clever Grannies up their sleeves! The ending will make you feel all giddy and happy. It's the sweetest ending. This is a must read book!

A super cute rom-com!
I loved the two main characters West and Harmony. Their interactions were so sweet, and I loved that they bonded through their music. I enjoyed the secondary characters as well, and particularly enjoyed getting to know Race. Hopefully he gets his own story!
The novel had me laughing out loud and cheering for a happy ending.
I would recommend this to all lovers of clean, sweet romance.

I received a copy of this novel from the publisher. This has not affected my review, which is my honest and unbiased opinion.

When one of your favorite authors (who already writes engrossing books) decides to try her hand at a new genre (rom-com in this case), it makes for an unputdownable first-in-series full of laughs, swoony moments, music references (all the country and rock 'n roll), and characters you grow to care about.

As far as tropes go, matchmaking is not one of my favs, yet in this book, I liked getting to know GeeBee as well as seeing her in action with her social media accounts (the "lettered likes" conversation was my favorite). Granted, I enjoyed this take on the trope for about 60-70% but that's a win in my book. Oh, and part of that enjoyment was thanks to her working with another Gramma too ;)

As for West, it was cute getting to see things not going according to his plan from the get-go, as well as him slowly realizing that Harmony was perfect for him. I loved his gentle, kind, and selfless way with everyone he cared about around him (especially his brother), and how Harmony not only saw that but also appreciated it and tried to help him and his career. Of course, as fun and adorably clumsy as she was, it was also nice seeing her struggling with issues like pride and moving on past not-so-recent struggles.

Overall, a sweet satisfying rom-com that delivers on the laughs, passionate kisses (when they finally happen, lol), as well as takes you on tour with Race Madden and The Hatters ;) (of whom I wouldn't mind reading more of). Can't wait for the next one in this series! ~ 5 stars!

I seriously have no idea how this one ended up on my kindle, but I decided to go ahead and read it and see how it went. It was nice enough as far as romances go. I think that it would have been better if there was a little more depth to the story. I liked the main characters well enough. Harmony was a good lead, although I could have done without all of the constant tripping. Seriously, the girl probably needed to consider getting a neurological exam for her clumsiness. West was nice enough as well. I think I enjoyed the matchmaking grandmas too. The real problem was that I felt like I had been dropped into the middle of a story that had been going on awhile off the page. When Harmony walks into West's office he already has a plan to pawn her off on his brother. Why??? Sure, he explains his thinking, but because this happens in chapter one, it is hard to feel any sort of empathy for his actions. He says his grandma is a meddling matchmaker, but because I didn't seed all the history I couldn't root for his decisions. He just seemed like a royal jerk. Harmony has her own past, and that happens off the page too, so it is hard to feel connected to her and her desperation to get this job. The weak story telling continues throughout the book. West and Harmony seem to fall in love with each other randomly, with nothing notable leading to a growth in feelings. She's faking a relationship with Race (again ... there is nothing built up in the story to explain the need for this deception. Sure, they say that he needs his reputation resuscitated, but nothing in the story shows him to be all that bad). But suddenly she decides that West is the guy for her. Why? Hard to tell. There are a couple of romantically charged moments between them, but there isn't the tension you expect to feel in a story with this sort of plot. The ending was a little crazy and random as well. It all works out, but it seemed to just miss the mark for me. I'm going to give this 2.5 stars and round it up to three because I ended up liking it well enough. It just didn't quite hit the spot.

Tamie Dearen’s sweet romance, I Love Rock ‘n Roll, the first book of the Underground Grannies Matchmakers series, is a delightful book that follows the journey of a successful rock band and their new backup singer.

Harmony Rivers has been beating down doors in Nashville to pursue her dream of being a country music star. Unfortunately, the business is proving to be just as hard to break into as all the rumors always suggest.

After receiving a call to audition for what seems to be her chance at a big break, she hightails to LA and meets West Garrison, manager for bad boy rocker, Race Garrison, West’s half-brother.

Harmony’s voice impresses both men and miscommunications, and well-intentioned interference from family and band members make for some interesting situations. Add in the famous Granny Matchmakers and mishaps ensue that will make you laugh out loud.

Book Quote: “All around people were shouting and wobbling, their hands thrashing in the air. Several more went down. In the chaos, the reporters’ questions stopped. West commented, ‘Good thing everybody started sliding around back there. It let us dodge their questions and get away clean.’ Race’s expression was stormy, ‘Felt like loose gravel. Buckle up.’ Harmony’s whole body drooped, ‘It was my lucky marbles.’ ‘So, you lost your marbles. Literally’.”

Book Quote: “ ‘Harmony,’ Gramma interlocked her fingers and twirled her thumbs around each other. ‘I think you’re beautiful, smart, and talented. But have you ever considered that you could have too much pride?’ ‘That’s a big *no way*,’ I said. ‘If anything, I’m proud of my pride. I’ll never be a doormat’.”

This sweet and clean romance is safe for everyone. Join these characters as they go on personal journeys to learn lessons about pride, honesty, and love. You won’t be disappointed.

What a fun book to kick off a new series. This story had me laughing my head off at the antics of these zany grandmas who decided to become matchmakers for their grandchildren, brothers West & Race and Harmony Rivers I loved the premise of these octogenarians becoming techno savvy. It was hilarious when Race, West and Harmony were eating out with their grandmother GeeBee in a restaurant and the server asked for a selfie. Race being the rock star assumed it was with him but the woman wanted a picture with his famous matchmaking grandma. Most of all this story just goes to show that these grandmas know their grandchildren and did a great job of matching them up.

What will Harmony Rivers do when she feels drawn to West Garrison but agrees to become Race's fake girlfriend to help his reputation? What will West do when his grandma tries to set him up with Harmony but he knows his brother Race always gets the girl? What will all three of them do when their grandmas try to manage their lives.

I loved the characters and know there will be more fun books to come in this entertaining series.

This country girl is Rockin’!

Harmony Rivers knows she would be perfect for the job as a backup singer for rock star Race Madden but it doesn’t look like his manager agrees. She didn’t make a good first impression when she arrived covered in mud. If she doesn’t land the job she’ll return to Texas as a failure and even her grandmother won’t be able to make her feel better.

West Garrison thought hiring Harmony for his brother’s band would solve his problem of evading his grandmother’s match-making scheme. Women always fell for his brother when they met him and it would help clean up Race’s naughty boy image if he was dating a clean, country girl. When West saw how beautiful and innocent Harmony was, he knew it was a bad plan. Race would ruin her and then throw her away. Unfortunately, Race hired her before he could intervene. Now all West could do was try to protect her until the tour was over.

These grannies are terrors but hilarious! This is a fun match-making romance with a happy ending. I enjoyed every minute of reading it. I received a free copy but my review is honest and voluntary.

Such a fun book!

That was such a fun book! West and Harmony were so cute together, and I loved the heated glances and the swoony kisses. The Matchmaking Grannies were an added bonus! I especially enjoyed the scene at the restaurant where the waitress wanted a selfie with Grandma GeeBee instead of Race the rockstar!! Ah, man. So good. I liked how both West and Harmony were willing to give up their song's slot on Race's next album, so the other one could have it and be happy. That's true love right there. There are so many great things I could list about this book, but that would take ages, so I'm gonna stop right here with the final one: finishing this book in one read-through was totally worth missing sleep for. (Good thing it's summertime, right?) I can't wait to read the next one in the series!

The characters are great and so well developed that I can easily imagine what they would do in any given situation. I absolutely love GeeBee, the threat of her ear-twisting still keeps her adult grandsons catering to her besides the fact that they absolutely adore her! Harmony is a wonderful character with her kind of being an accident waiting to happen and her absolute terror of mice. My favorite scenes concerning those things involve marbles in her pocket and then loose mice in a pet store. West and Harmony are perfect together, but what about Race, Harmony's pretend boyfriend, who just happens to be West's brother? I highly recommend I Love Rock and Roll, especially if you need a good laugh and enjoy a romance. I'm eagerly waiting for the next one in the series!
I received a complimentary copy and am sharing my opinion of this fantastic romantic comedy.

West Garrison
Harmony Rivers

West is his half brother Race’s Manager. Race is a rock star and currently is in need of an image adjustment so West comes up with the idea of a fake girlfriend. West has a interview with Harmony to be the fake girlfriend but when she arrives he’s attracted to her and is adamant this can’t happen. GeeBee, West and Race’s grandma is set on getting her grandsons married so she can have great grand babies. She gave Harmony’s information to West to match them up. Harmony is a good singer and is looking for a break, she’s excited to do the backup singing. She ends up fake dating Race, all the while West and Harmony are falling for each other. This is a very good, fast reading book. Harmony and West both have to work through some past problems. GeeBee is funny. I would definitely read more books by this author and this series.

Plot: West’s grandma is quite the little matchmaker. When Harmony’s name crosses his desk, he is determined to stay single, and passes her info onto his half brother. After spending time together on tour, their feelings develop. The only problem, she’s fake dating his brother.

What I liked: I liked the concept.

What I didn’t like: I felt very confused the whole time I read. I didn’t feel like there was a natural progression between west and harmony. Everything that supposedly made them spend time together before their feelings developed was left off page and we ended up reading a single paragraph summary of said times after the fact. There didn’t seem to be much meat to their relationship and all the extra stuff was irrelevant. Also, I’m not sure if it was intentional or not, but the author kept spelling grandma as “gramma” and I really couldn’t move past that

Swearing: none

Physical intimacy level: closed door

Star rating: 2 stars

Trope: workplace romance, singer/songwriter, fake dating

What a cute story! This book made me laugh out loud! West and Race are half-brothers. Both musicians in their own right, however, Race has launched into rockstar status and West is now his manager/babysitter. Harmony Rivers is looking for her big break into the music industry. She is a singer, songwriter and a bit on the clumsy side. Add into the mix their grandmas, who are trying to do some matchmaking, and you have yourself a quite a story! I loved how GeeBee was on TikTok, and constantly surprised West and Race with how much she knew about technology. I also loved how unpredictable this book was, totally caught off guard by the ending, and I loved it!!
I received an ARC of this book, but the review is voluntary and my own opinion.

What problem could two grannies cause?
This is a very fun story that will bring a smile to your face through the whole book. The Underground Grannies have one goal, get their grandchildren married and get great-grandchildren. Grandma Bette has a grandson, West, in his thirties, single, and not interested in marriage. West is busy managing the career of Race, his rockstar brother, when Grandma Bette sends contact info for a singer, Harmony, so she can audition. But when she appears wet and muddy, he is not interested but when his brother insists that she is perfect, to help Race fix his image, so she is hired. But is Race good enough for her? Does he even realize her value? A fun and funny read you’ll enjoy. I received an early copy and this is my honest review.

After smiling through “I Love Rock and Roll” the first book in the series, I’m all in for the Underground Granny Matchmakers and their high jinks.
West Garrison’s job is to clean up his rock star brother’s rep by setting him up with a squeaky clean fake girlfriend. There’s just a slight problem, he wants her for himself.
Harmony sees her chance to finally do something with her music career. There’s just one problem, she’s fake dating one brother but really wants the other one.
Little do they know, their grammas are working behind the scenes—for their good, of course.
Full of fun, romance, music and scheming granny’s this book has it all. I highly recommend it.

Quite a good story. Harmony is such a wonderful character: loving, kind, gentle, and loyal. But a royal klutz. The brothers, West and Race, also presented themselves well. The unintentional (from the character perspective) miscommunication was sometimes endearing and at other times distressing. The grannies, Loretta and GeeBee, really play rather minor parts in the story and yet are forces to be reckoned with. The end is delightful.

Entertaining. Funny. Happily Ever After. Romantic. Tear-jerker. Twisted. Whimsical. Wonderful characters.

I received a review copy of this book from a third party. This is my honest review.

This was a 2.5 I rounded up because I did finish it but I almost didn’t.
This was not at all what I expected. The idea was cute and I liked the beginning and all of the characters.
I thought it was going to be more of a Rom-Com but it’s more quirky not funny. The characters were supposed to be in their thirties but seemed very immature. A lot of the “funny moments” came off clumsy and cringe.
The grandmas who I thought would be the main part of the story sweet and funny were not.
They came off very pushy, meddling and manipulative.
The main characters were great in theory but not a lot of character or relationship development.
Why did they even like each other?
Very odd choices.

Laughed too many times I lost count

Where shall I start? Laughed so much throughout the book. I had people looking at me like I was high. Note to self, remember to keep your laugh to a low whisper when you are reading in public with a dozen people waiting for their car to be serviced. Harmony and West never had a chance with those to matchmaking grandmas. Enjoyed the writing and how easy it was to relate to the main characters. All the side characters were interesting as well that I'm invested in the next book with Race and Aprils love story.

I enjoyed this book and its quirky characters. I found both West and Harmony so relatable, endearing and realistic. West is a new book boyfriend. These two sparked for me from the beginning and held my attention to the very end. I found the third act breakup very true to the characters, as well as the way that they reconciled. This story is easy to consume and had me laughing at various times. The side characters are very interesting and added to the fabric of the story. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

My gosh, I was laughing from the very first page of this novel. A cute love, friendship triangle involving Harmony (an accident waiting to happen), West, and Race. Harmony is looking for her big sing break into stardom, West is marking time as Race’s manager, and Race is not what everyone perceives him to be. Tamie has a knack for putting her characters in funny, believable situations and I cannot turn the pages fast enough to see what in the world happens next. No spoilers, just an invitation to turn that first page.

I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll is an adorable novel. Lots of song lyrics, fake dating, clumsy female, and funny match making grannies.

I was smiling and laughing through this heartwarming romance.

I really enjoyed the famous, bad boy singer looking for a fake girlfriend to help his image. Harmony was sweet and talented. When she wrote songs with West, her boss, it got all kinds of swoony and complicated.

And you can’t forget GEEBEE and her pet. HAHA! West is hilarious. I was cheering for him the whole book.

Sure I enjoyed musicians West, Race and Harmony, but most of all, I adore these grandmas! Does anyone ever pull the wool over grandmas' eyes? Come along for this poignant journey to romance. Harmony is the most adorable klutz which causes some laugh out loud moments, Race is not nearly as bad as portrayed by the media and West is a gentleman. I loved the characters and their well written story! I am eagerly awaiting the next book in the series.

The romance in this book was sweet and funny. And the grandmothers were delightful! I did greatly enjoy the main characters, but I won't lie: the geriatric side characters stole the show frequently. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series mostly because GeeBee and company are a scream and the author hinted at the next couple who I really want to meet.

I did receive a complimentary ARC; all opinions are my own and willingly shared.

This is a laugh out loud romantic comedy with Harmony who is a fake relationship with rock star Race which was set up by his brother West when Race needs his act cleaned up but now West actually want Harmony but he thinks it is too late. What he does not know is Harmony wants West but how can that work out when she is fake committed to Race. This is truly a joy to read when the granny matchmakers get to work on making things happen they way they should.

Grandma knows best

This story includes grandmothers who no best. They set up a matchmaking group of grandmother's and West and Harmony are the first to fall. I love the cookie characters. I love the interaction between the different characters the older grandmother's and the younger grand kids. Being a grandmother I could relate to some of the things they said. Well written story I would recommend this story to anyone.

I Love Rock and Roll

Oh my! This has to be one of the funniest stories I’ve ever read. Tamie Dearen had me laughing out loud for a good portion of this book. Thank you for making realistic characters so fun. No one wants to be set up by their grandmother but that is exactly what happens with West and Harmony. Will the grandmother succeed or will Harmony end up with Race, West’s brother?
