"𝑪𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒅𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒔, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒆𝒔 𝒐𝒏𝒆." ~𝑾𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒚 𝑫𝒂𝒍𝒆
At just under 120 pages, this novella packs quite an emotional punch.
Kate's sister Emily went missing years earlier, and three days after her disappearance, her remains were found, identified by her parents, and her death was ruled an accidental drowning. Kate was supposed to be watching her, but she slipped into the woods with her boyfriend, and she absorbed the blame for her sister's death. Her mother blamed her too, and broken-hearted, Kate left home.
Then the unthinkable happens. While at a lakeside retreat, Kate sees Emily. Not a lookalike, not someone resembling her...it's Emily.
As shocking memories from her childhood start to surface, Kate is forced to question everything...her parents, her memories, and worst of all, just who is buried in Emily's grave?
