If you've ever watched the stock market spinning madly, stocks like GameStop going up 100% and then down 50%, and wondered whether you could take a slice of the action - the answer is yes!Learn how to trade based on what the charts tell you, and you can make great returns while limiting your risks. Marty Schwartz used technical trading to boost $40,000 to $20 million in a few years, and Ray Dalio (Bridgewater Associates) built a $10bn fortune setting up computer algorithms to look for good trades. And plenty of individuals are now using zero-commission brokers like EToro and Robinhood to make their own fortunes. For instance, EToro's details on some of their top traders show;Jay Edward Smith made returns of over 50% in 2019 trading stocks and cryptocurrencies;Olivier Danvel, a low risk trader, has a target 1% monthly return and hasn't had a single negative month in three years;Heloise Greeff has averaged a 20% a year return trading stocks and ETFs.And you could join them! For a casual trader like myself, I understood the basics of charts and could act on general trends I could see on stocks I was looking at. But you don't know what you don't know. A.Z. Penn manages to make this subject enjoyable to read about with plain english and even a touch of humor that is relatable. Right off the bat, you get an introduction to the charts we all see, but he breaks them down to reveal what the chart is really saying to you and it is anything but as obvious as it seems. He redefines trending for you and gives you simple but useful tools to unlock what the chart really says and whether or not it is a time you should consider buying or selling. When is a breakout real, or just a mirage? What is a marabozu and why is it feared? So many things here I never had a clue about. This book explains the indicators in front of you and reveals the dreaded pitfalls of trading, offering tips for different types of trading to help you be in that 20 percent of traders every year that don't throw their hands up and quit. There are even quizzes at the end of chapters so you can evaluate what you remembered and what you might need to re-read. Really, this is a darn useful book.
I have dipped my toes in the stock market, but generally for mutual funds, not individual stocks. I have looked at other books on the stock market, but never found one that I could understand-until now.
The author has written a truly comprehensive book, which is well-organized with graphs, and easy to understand. I will be reading several chapters again to guide me in my stock market journey.
In addition, the author has added bonus features, such as questions at the end of the chapters. The biggest bonus, in my opinion, is the free access to website features not found in this book. Generally, authors charge a fee for these services, but this author has included them in the price of the book.
I've dabbled in trading on and off over the years with mixed success. I've also read a number of books on the topic. Nobody has a secret formula because one doesn't exist, but A.Z. Penn's thorough explanation of technical analysis and how to put it into practice is excellent. He clearly explains it all, along with a great sense of humor.
I read this book once and I'm going to read it again, next time using the techniques with investments.
Highly recommend. This book itself is a great investment!
The book itself was informative and data-dense. However, this genre is not my typical reading go-to. But, if I were interested in becoming a stock market trader, then I would find appreciative value in the information in this publication. That being said, I did enjoy some of the cleverly placed humorous nuances in the reading material, and it does speak to the analytical side of me.
Other than that, it's a solidly good book for first-time stock market venturers.
Only skimmed through since I'm not liking this type of writing (full of paragraphs, it's not like they are telling an interesting story 🤷)
Only the last 2 chapters are little useful.
"If you have a cat, do not leave your computer and keyboard unattended even for a moment in a room to which the cat currently has access. A friend tells me the same is true for toddlers."
No course selling but frequent mentions of his website (to watch his free bonus videos) and other websites or resources like stockcharts..
This is a very well written and informative book. I didn't know a lot about analysis of stocks. But the book helped me understand charting, trends or technical analysis of different stocks. And many other terms and techniques for understanding stock trends. Very clearly written for a newcomer to stock trading.
This is a great guide for beginners like myself who are just starting out in the stock market. It is an easy to follow reference guide with charts and valuable information to make your journey of financial investing a little less scary. A great asset for anyone considering the stock market.
HIGHLY recommended for anyone who has thought about dabbling in the stock market, but has not taken the plunge. The advice contained herein is good for everyone from day traders to casual traders. More great info (at no extra charge) from a five-part masterclass and email updates (usually about once a week). The author is also very approachable if you have questions.
The author has written a book that will answer any questions on Technical Analysis of the stock market, a map to succeed in investing, and free bonus material comprised of a video and written material that expands on the useful tools this book provides. Highly recommended for the novice and mid-level investor.
It is always good to learn from a good teacher. Penn is very clear in explaining the trends, indicators and strategies in share market. A must read before starting the journey of wealth creation in shares.
Before reading this book I knew nothing about stocks. This is a very informative book which gives a great understanding of charting, technical analysis and trends of stocks. Would highly recommend for anyone interested in stock trading.
Mr. Penn has written another great book about the stock market. I should have read this one first, but that's ok, I can still learn from it! This will really help you out with personal investing. It is great if you are a newbie to the financial world.
This book is excellent for the beginner level. I feel like I understand the terms better and the glossary will be an invaluable reference. The advice on paper trading and developing rules is very helpful also. Well done A.Z Penn. This a good book for the beginner.
This book is full of helpful information. I wish I would have read it sooner. It has great tips, in easy to understand steps. There are also quizzes. Great read.
I wish I'd had this book twenty years ago. Thorough, yet understandable. Written in plain language. The six bonuses are an unexpected treat. Very well done.
Better than expected, but would require more attention from my part and a notebook and some googling.. For that reason I did not finish it. (audio book)
