200-year-old Gideon, the adviser to the lycan royal family, has been searching for his erasthai for longer than nose humans live. He long ago gave up, but tonight he smells something heavenly...He follows it to his bed and finds someone is already there..
22-year-old Layla, a human in a family of werewolves, has been trying to be independent her whole life. But after taking a shift from a sick coworker, she ends up in a house that smells good enough to make her crawl into the owner's bed.

Recommend .....If you can get it ANYWHERE but the Galatea App
I really enjoyed this story, as it tells the story of Layla coming into herself as a wolf along with catching the eye of a Lycan wolf...Lord Gideon Arthur. Although Layla's family was not my favorite along with that dreadful Helen, the remaining characters brought a lot of fun to the story.
Here is the one problem...I was only able to read it on the Galatea app. If I knew what this app was about, I would have never started reading the story in the first place. They give you the first 3 chapters and then you are really getting into the story, and when you hit Chapter 4, there's a message telling you either to buy the Chapter!!! Or wait 6 hours to read it.
I will tell you this. This was the FIRST time and the VERY LAST time I get sucked into this app. Although I got through the story during the 6 hour waiting periods...an oh... I have a job as well, so that means it took me about 2 1/2 weeks to get through the entire story b/c of the waiting..
This is my note to the author. If you want to make money off of your book. Sale the darn thing on Amazon Kindle!!!!
First of all, they really have to change the covers of this series' books. It's one of the best fantasy series with werewolves and lycans I have ever read, though the covers make it seem like cheap romantic pulp fiction. That was the first of the series I have read, it should be read at the end though. If you are into fantasy, Nicole Riddley's books are a must.
I knew coming into this book that I was only going to get a snip it of a larger story.. one that I didn't want to pay for on the Galanta app (sorry).. And this book was exactly that - I felt that I was reading a second independent book in a series, the best friend of Quincy (we assume the FL in book one) finding her mate, but only a small snip it into the story. We are vaguely introduced to Layla, human daughter of a werewolf and human, who is a pushover, if you guilt her enough, and has a hard time saying no to anyone. Due to her lack of werewolf abilities, she separates herself from her pack to pursue a photography career in the human world; going to college, living with humans, and working as a maid. While her parents are trying to marry her off to a family gamma werewolf friend, she finds herself being the mate of a Lycan billionaire, she happens to accidentally run into during one of her jobs. And that's it. That's all 130 pages of this snip it. Gideon trying to convince Layla to mate with him.
But Gideon and Layla were both hard characters to crack and root for. Gideon was very, if I manifest this view that I deserve everything, no one can tell me no. Like if you were to ever question his actions in this book, he would 100% say "cause that is the way it is." Layla on the other hand was a bit clueless. For someone who disliked her situation, she wasn't really doing anything about it and kept taking steps back because she couldn't tell people no. Instead, she would do the task until she sound the first out she could find. Also, for someone who couldn't say no to anyone... she sure in hell loved to say no to Gideon.
I will say though, I have read worse werewolf stories before. The writing and story telling in the beginning was decent. I read this book in one sitting because I was curious to see how it would play out. But if you are looking for world building and characters you can fall in love with, this isn't the book.
I loved book 1, it was short, sweet and I love that we get to see an interracial couple. Im confused why book 2 is the same as Trapping Quincy and why that was included in Gideon and Layla's series? Book 3 was okay but Book 4 was horrendous. It just didnt fit the timeline, the characters completely changed, the plot/series changed, and feels as if they moved backwards in their love story. It honestly ruined the entire series for me and feels like they ended it pretty badly. I also heard a different author wrote Book 3 and 4 which im not sure why they did that but thats probably why it feels like I was reading a completely different series with different characters.
So overall, for the entire series, I'm giving it a 2/5 star rating.
I actually really enjoyed this book, I like their connection and of course his possessiveness. I mean… it’s a werewolf book about fated mates, if you don’t like the possesive male trope then why you readin dis?? But the plot was mid, I feel like I wanted more details about Helen and about the relationships of the main characters with their families, jobs, and packs. That being said, I think the Helen plot was weak, I wanted a larger conflict that they have to grow and fight together in order to conquer. There wasn’t much character or relationship development besides Layla standing up to her family… I hope the second book delivers more plot.
(Goodreads doesn’t have each individual book so it’s gonna show up like I read this book like 3 times, book 1,2,&3)

Just finished but some of the story just doesn't add up...all of book 4 makes no sense timeline wise and for the love story, and what happens at end of book 3 has no follow up from whats available on galatea
Have you ever sat and watched something while it was set on fire, enjoying how it slowly gave into the flames? That’s how I felt while reading this dumpster fire. This very much reads as someone’s fanfic with odd pacing, two POVs despite the ML’s POV being utilized about twice throughout the whole book, awkward and partly unnecessary conversations, certain plot lines never being full explained, not explaining the differences between werewolves and Lycans, etc.
I give it two stars because it was so ridiculous that I couldn’t put it down. It was an okay quick read to get my year rolling, but I wouldn’t recommend to anyone else to read this. Unless dumpster fire werewolves/mating novels are your thing, then have a blast!
This is mainly available on Galatea App which does make it inconvenient to read and get into.
I read this book on Galatea, which is a book app on smartphones.
This storey had '4 books' to it within the app, but on goodreads, I'm just going to consider it ALL ONE BIG BOOK. the first book, which is essentially about how Gideon meets Layla, and I was hooked. The main female character , Layla, is of course having problems in her life, and doesn't get along with her family, but trying to make it on her own. Gideon who is handsome, comes to literally save the day.
The plot is the general damsel in distress with hero to come save the day. The uniqueness of this story is the fantasy portion and how these details keep me drawn in. Don't get me wrong. I love a traditional damsel in distress storyline. So book 1 was AMAZING!
book 2 - talked about their friends, which is sort of part of the story but not really, sooooo i'm going to skip this one
Book 3 - is about Gideon and Layla on their honeymoon in Africa, and although I find it intriguing and there's a twist in the story, I felt that the author was losing their momentum in telling that unique story and it started to get boring and I started to skim the story. I was still compelled to finish the book, so thats a good sign
Book 4 - still reading because i've put it down.. not sure if i'll continue with the way the cheese is just oozing from this book now....
I don’t even know where to begin to be honest. I guess I’ll start with the writing. This was some of the worst character writing I’ve seen, even bad books usually have a way of either having a good plot OR good characters, this one had neither. The FMC is apparently 22 but is written with the characteristics of a 13 year old from the way she talks to her behavior with other characters. The MMC was boring and lacked any distinct personality whatsoever. I read this because of a snip posted on tiktok only to discover the snip they’re showing, isn’t even in the book-at least not the way it’s shown on tiktok. Going back to the writing, the “chapters” are written in the most confusing way I’ve ever seen. They just trail off and pick up from a different characters pov, in an entirely different time and place. Last but not least, the ending. This book ended on a potential spicy scene which is simply poor writing. Nothing in this book was even remotely good enough to make my consider grabbing the 2nd, even just for the spicy scene. I’m not normally a harsh critic but man, I would bet a middle school writer could write better than this. Overall: complete waste of time, worst “book” I’ve personally read in years.
I was enjoying the book, thought it had a lot of promise and was liking all the twist and turns until I looked down and realized I was 85% done and no way could she successfully wrap everything up. The H and h do get a hFn, but then there is a nice blurb about how their story continues on one of those horrible reading apps where you have to have so many coins before you can read the next chapter. That’s a hard pass for me. I have tried those apps and you will end up paying 3 times the normal price for books. Will not be continuing their story on that horrible app nor will I try reading anything by this author again. Book had promise but was disappointed that the author tried to trap the reader into one of those apps. If it hadn’t been on kindle unlimited I would have wanted a refund.
I saw this on booktok and wanted to give it a chance. There are moments that I enjoyed but about halfway through it just felt like I was getting snippets of the highlights. After finishing this book I saw that it is on Galatea. It all made sense. The world was sort of explained enough to get by but the overdramatic moments were a bit much. The other woman drama was an eye roll for me because it was so empty. Yeah, Helen was angry that Gideon finally found his erasthai but it seemed like she made this entire relationship with him more than it ever was. Layla is a pushover but I can see her getting her grit later in the story which is available on Galatea. I will not be continuing but I think that this book if fleshed out some more, would be really cool.

I’ve read this whole Royal Lycans series on Inkitt app before they were moved to Galatea app. I consider myself lucky.
About Gideon I’m gonna give it a 5 🌟 since I devoured it. Can’t honestly give less. The thing is that Galatea then added another volume, if you can call it that way, for Gideon. Like Gideon Part 2 which completely doesn’t match the original story. I later found out that on Galatea sometimes ghost writers rewrite and “fix” the books to their needs since it’s supposed to be an immersive reading app, with sounds and other add ons.
I’m gonna pretend there’s no story about Layla’s (MFC) African origins and mysteries we were left with at the end of the first part. I don’t know where the Kindle edition ends, that is why I am reviewing the watt pad original edition.
Good story. You only get a portion of the book and it stops at heating moment. You then have to download another app to finish the story and you only get some many credits. So you will have to pay for the rest to finish the story. I am not paying for another app to finish a book when I already pay for this app. Great story though just not able to complete the story
Curiosity killed the cat.....and this book is a clunker.
Was it the tentative love scenes? Or maybe it was the glaringly bad editing (or lack thereof) or maybe it's the way itdragged on in all the wrong places? I can't putmyfingeron it directly but it's a no for me dawg.
This book was bad. Quincy+Caspian: 3,5/5 stars. Penny+Darius: 4/5 stars. But this? It is like written by a complete different person. This was a rush, mixed timelines with the earlier book, no pent-up energy, no real story at all. Do not recommend.
I liked this book a lot actually. And it's a pretty quick read too. Except for the fact that it's on Galatea. So you can only finish it fast if you have the subscription or a lot of points. This is only a review of the "first" Galatea books. Since I don't think the others in it counts. My reason for 2 stars is in the spoiler.
*SPOILER* I was absolutely furious with Gideon when he was angry at Layla for being sexually assaulted! He only thought of himself, and didn't even think of his mate who was in a lot of pain and just needed him by her side! He is absolute trash, and I honestly hate Gideon for that. Before that event I really liked him, but I find it unforgivable! And when he finally apologises, he makes it all about himself, and how he failed to protect her. And how guilty he felt. Like wtf?!! He didn't even stop to think about how his broken mate was feeling. I'm sorry, but I just can't take it. She should have let him grovel some more, Layla, forgave him too easily!
What in the shit was this lmfao. Some of the cringiest shit I’ve read in a while, zero stars if it were possible. This shit’s got nothing on wattpad. Alt least then you’re prepared for the likely bs that will come, but this just repeatedly hits you with it. There were some very minor parts that I could find a way to appreciate, nonetheless nothing good enough worth salvaging this train wreck. Don’t even want this on my reading goal but I’m gonna take the L. Shit took three whole ass days to get through, not cause it was long or heavy or anything like that. It was merely painful to sit through without wanting to cry out in frustration that I was dumb enough to dive in head first and get too far into this book to back out last minute for the fear of having wasted so much time and not being able to claim another book for my reading goal. Never again, save yourself, Run!! A waste of precious time💔
I read both Fighting Darius books and Trapping Quincy first on Galatea. I have the subscription so didn't have to deal with the wait times. I thoroughly enjoyed those series and was excited to read Gideon to continue in that universe. I genuinely wish that I hadn't read it.
Gideon and Layla's relationship seems toxic and unhealthy, even if they are soulmates. Basically the function well on a physical level but any sort of communication/consideration/understanding is nonexistent. I did enjoy Louis though.
I wish they would have lead the Royal lycans out of this novel as it feels like everything you knew about these individuals from the previous books is no longer relative. They might as well have been new characters. Also, I don't remember Gideon being in Trapping Quincy at all with the exception of when Quincy's former pack kidnapped her. Yes, there was some intrigue between the two but in that book, Gideon already knew she was Caspain's mate when they met.

Galatea app read to keep you on your toes. This version on the app was a little strange though as book two is just Trapping Quincy and books 3 and 4 from other reviews I've seen seem to tell different versions of events. Might even be by a different author but added to link to the series. Some have said to treat them like alternative versions. I only read the first one which I thought was good. Fascinating characters that have a lot of chemistry together and I really liked that characters from Trapping Quincy turned up in to this one as well. Like an ensemble cast coming together for more madness and mayhem while these two mates find themselves drawn to each other no matter what, or who, stands in their way.
Quick read, cute story, corny plot. Could have been better if the story was actually developed. Instead, this story kinda just skipped from scene to scene really quickly. So much happened in so few pages, it was insane! I blame the fact that it's supposed to be read on the horrible app. Luckily I read it elsewhere and let me tell you, I am soooo glad I didn't read this on the Galatea app, I despise the platform!
