Abby is a wholesome all-American girl with traditional values. She is fresh out of college, working her first professional job, and struggling with body issues when she falls for a co-worker. Jack seems the ideal match for Abby until she discovers Jack's secret. Jack attends nudist parties with his friends. Shocked at first, Abby soon embraces the nudist lifestyle, and is forever changed by her experiences.
A little short on story and probably about 20% too many words.
Mainly reports of conversations between Abby and people she meets. The questions she asks are often repetitive, covering the same ground, generating the same answers.
To keep things from getting too dull, there are a few 'sexy' interludes. They add little. A dream sequence towards the end had me skipping pages.
Excellent story about self discovery through nude experiences. Interesting seeing it through a female point of view. The MC's insecurities seemed a bit much, but as a male my issues had a different basis so mainly reminded me of the body issues of teen age girls in our society. And nice to see the end result!
Anyway, good read, good presentation (except for a couple of places). Recommend.
While there were some grammatical errors throughout the story, it was not enough to distract from the story. The story started in a way we can all relate equating nudity with sex and body images that we all have of ourselves whether you are a woman or a man. It shows that while we all have sexual thoughts you can have them whether you are wearing clothes or not and that there is nothing wrong with nudism. In fact it shows a healthy side of nudism.
It's different, starts off with a bang, clear writing, aimed at a young open audience, and half way along the editor lost his/her balance or quit. The story stayed interesting enugh, but the error correction flew the coop. I stayed, but found that there seemed to be a multitude of misspellings, tense errors, etc. Yes, a good story, but it needs to be cleaned up quite a bit !
This is arguably the best book in the Nudist/Naturist genre. I don't normally leave a review unless I have something to really applaud and praise. I loved reading about Abby's journey into a confident women and catching all the subtle anecdotes that probably most nudists faced as they came into this way of life. I think this book should be recommended by other naturists to their friends or family whenever someone asks about what being a nudist is like. I also liked that the author didn't shy away from the sexual aspect that most people associate with Nudism. Obviously nudists are still human and enjoy sex, but in the appropriate settings, which many authors will skip over. The book, at times, seems to lead more toward the exhibitionist side of social nudity but the author does a good job of rounding out the characters in a manner that is healthy, in my opinion. We all deal with our own body issues growing up and I think there's a character in the story for everyone to relate to. "Soy Hombre Desnudo". 😆😉
Abby’s Nudist Journey is a light hearted amusing tale of a young woman in America and her path to becoming a naturist.
I found this book a pleasant and entertaining read. It is quite thought provoking and deals with many issues, including society’s attitude to nudism and body dysmorphia. This is easy reading with a lovely pace as you follow Abby on her lifestyle path. Gently the reader is led to the same conclusion that Abby forms, having gone to naked parties, beaches and resorts, that nudity is simply “no big deal”. So, leave your doubts behind and enjoy this fun, 4 star GOOD read. It is quite long running to 402 pages but so can some people’s journey to accepting their bodies and that nudity is “no big deal”.
A book I can certainly relate to, after a number of Naturist experiences in Europe, starting with the nervous secret parts, to the now confidence of embracing the lifestyle whenever possible. Where we live it is a shame that being naked in a public place, even our own garden if people can see in, is illegal and considered a criminal and sexual offence.
I liked the fact that the author tackled sex, sexuality, and sexualization of others. These are topics many other authors writing about nudism seem to avoid or gloss over and these are all issues that those venturing into the nudist lifestyle may find themselves working through.
An interesting approach to nudism narrated through the perspective of a young woman. Abby experiences different scenarios in which she has to decide whether this newly discovered body acceptance is innocent or it has its own sexual connotations. M.S. Rosen gives us a novel that showcases the conflict of people that get into nudism and wonder if there's also an exhibitionist side to it.
The premise is good, many good points, but, too wordy. Less is better in many ways. Sadly, parts are like a chore...you have to plough through to get to the point. That said, it is a worthy effort at encouraging acceptance of a nudist lifestyle.
I thought this was well-written. Following Abby's journey in her search for the best person she could be. I loved the way the author tied up loose ends in the lives of all of the characters. The book was well edited, as well.
An amusing and entertaining tale that embraces the nudist lifestyle and offers up insightful views. The story occasionally strays into slightly unbelievable scenarios but does so in a very endearing way. Abby is very relatable and will leave you rethinking your own views on nudity.
My gratitude is with you, M.S. Rosen. I am new to the nudist fiction genre, but this tour de force is the finest example I have yet found. Abby is a relatable, plausible, and ultimately embraceable heroine I ended up cheering for each time she found a new challenge to surmount. And with one lavishly described scene after another, I felt like I was right there in each room with her, nearly as if I could reach out to Abby and hold her close(Did I mention that I pore over all naturist/erotic fiction while in the nude? I certainly would not have minded watching her thru Jack's eyes!). The tale never skews into absurd erotic fantasy or spouts off nudist philosophy like so many naturism sites do, which has often bored me like a documentary. Abby simply ponders how she feels, and then takes the next steps to see what she feels after each new experience. The closing chapter, while not a letdown, is set ten years after the tale and feels like a bit of an overly long epilogue more than a resolution to the narrative. I would much rather have seen the events recounted play out naturally, perhaps in a follow-up book. That aside, Abby's Nudist Journey is one I could strip down and take again and again.
