Undercover Hybrid #1

Areyna's Secret

Rate this book
Car racing, boys, annoying bullies, blood lust, and two overbearing police detectives. That's my life.

It's a far cry from where I started but even I know nothing ever stays the same.

My name is Areyna Rose, that's not actually my real name, that's as much a mystery to me as it is to everyone else, but most people I meet call me Areyna.

When my main food source becomes a problem, I have no choice but to find a new one or four. Rather sexy ones at that.

Maybe this life of mine won't be quite as dull as I thought it would be.

Or maybe it's just getting more complicated, especially when said police detectives force me to attend a school where students start turning up dead.

Can we all survive the horrors befalling us or will we succumb to the same fate as those we're trying to save?

Aryena's Secret is lust-filled insanity and I'm not mad about it. I mean I don't know wtf is going on but I'm entertained. Bianca is a new author and has done a great job on her first book.

There's weirdness and confusion but I wanna know more. Aryena was found wandering the streets with no memory, she was basically feral. Got put in a foster home bad things happen then she was put into Laverton which is a prison that houses the different. Apparently, Aryena is a vampire hybrid. Two (young af) cops, Richard and Jason, come take her out and she helps them solve cases using vampiric skills but they keep her on a tight leash, she's very restricted. Aryena is nice, kinda docile, she doesn't want to hurt anyone just a little freedom. She's living off of blood bags which is a whole other issue, apparently, she creates a bond with anyone she feeds from so that is also an issue.

Jason and Richard liked her from the start, then a bond is formed and now she's deeply connected to them. Then enter Torren, Derrin, and Remmie, three vampire hybrids who form bonds with her while trying to help her. Aryena doesn't know how to be a vampire hybrid and the boys are trying to teach her. The book is told from multiple point-of-views, Aryena and all the boys get chapters plus some unknown person (who is creepy af) and really all the boys leave little to be desired. All the boys are flip-floppy with their attitude one-minute kind the next rude and frankly, they can be a little mean without reason but there was an obvious attraction. I can't even fathom the reason behind most of their actions except for Torren, he was my favorite and treated Aryena with decency the entire time.

The plot is all kinds of crazy, kids are being murdered at school, there is new supernatural mythology with a whole new twist on hybrids, weird bonds, an unclear vampire hierarchy, unknown hybrid powers, and Aryena is in the middle of it. The book needs some work but it was really good. I was drawn into the story and I'm interested in learning about all the characters' backstory, especially since I have a theory about a certain coin that was only mentioned once but I feel like is a big clue. I have so many questions and I'm curious as to where the story is headed.

Aryena's Secret end really crazy, some major stuff went down. People are dead, things with the guys are in the air, a major plot point was revealed and the Unknown person who had a couple of chapters and who has been obsessed with Areyna is revealed. It ended on a major cliffhanger and I'm invested now but I'm not sure I'm ready for the next book, it's titled Aryena's End and that sounds very ominous, looks like I have to wait to find out.

Literally the plot twists in this book keep you on your toes the whole way through this book and they are just knockout! As is the last bouncing off of all of these characters. Vampire Areyna is found at the beginning of this book in an institution and shes then taken in by policemen Richard and Jason. The heat between these three is off of the charts but none of them want to upset the balance they have together. Only for more complications to come in the form of Derrin, Torren and Remmie. Making the dynamic Arenya has more difficult for her but it also gives her a little bit of insight into her background. More so who she is. It was a cracking read from start to finish and that cliffhanger ending was outstanding

Pretty solid read

Wow, this whole book was a wild ride start to finish. I’m not gonna lie I was a little afraid going in. You see…I’m not a fan of virgin fmcs. I know that’s not something I should concentrate on when reading, but the innocent fmc x manwhore trope always rubs me the wrong way.

I feel like it gets fetishized way too often and ruins smut scenes for me. Luckily only two of the guys came off as playboys and we don’t really see them flirting with ow. It’s more like the ow flirt with them and I was able to put up with that. Not gonna lie Derrin’s cockiness was kind of a put off for me. He seemed to be an over the top caricature of a flirty playboy. But he kind of grew on me, the dude has a lot of audacity that’s all I’m gonna say for now.

Torren was kind of like Derrin to me in a way, they just weren’t really my favorite guys. I did however really like Remmie and the two cops, Jason and Richard. Remmie is innocent cutie and dork rolled into one. The guy just doesn’t get social cues and I love him for that. Areyna was a pretty solid fmc, definitely on the sweet side and I love that she wasn’t drooling over herself to get with the guys. She’s more of the go with the flow type of gal and I liked her for that. Also I’m a sucker for cops in an RH, and the fact that I got to see the men jealous was a plus. Jealousy from the guys in the harem is a guilty pleasure of mine so I really enjoyed that. The writing in this book is pretty good, a few spelling errors here and there but it had good flow after the first few pages. I’m not going to lie the ending had me shook, and I find myself anticipating the next book. I would honestly recommend this read.

What the what? What kind of cliffhanger was that?! I feel betrayed! Riley had me completely fooled. If you are a fan of major twists in the stories you read, Areyna's Secret will get you good.

I love vampire and shifter stories and this is a lovely blend of the two with the possibility of hybrids among the species. Although only the vampire side was really touched on in this first book, I expect more to be invested into the shifter sides as well in the next book. I loved the concept of hybrids and how different kinds of blood can affect them compared to how they can normally drink any kind in other books and be fine. The outcome of feeding from different beings and how bonds are made was also unique in both normal standards as well as the standards given to the regular hybrids in this book. I look forward to learning more about Areyna and her abilities as she is so drastically different from the other hybrids, Torren, Derrin, and Remmie.

Areyna as a character was one that I just easily liked. Although timid at times, she isn't a pushover and doesn't fall over herself trying to get the guys in the story to like her. I also really love the mystery to her character, the lack of background story is going to bring so many different plot twists throughout this series, I just know it. It's going to be exciting to find out how she came into being, whether she is the hybrid combination that the guys think she is, what makes her so different, and what she is truly capable of.

As far as the guys go, some of them are a hit or miss with me, often switching throughout the book on whether I like their character or not. Richard and Jason were pretty consistent about their feelings for Areyna, even though she was oblivious to them. Torren and Derrin are about on the same level to me with Torren in the lead by a smidge. Although Derrin was the flirty, funny one, he fell a bit flat for me when he claimed to want to keep Areyna yet didn't want to be involved in any type of bond. Torren I respect a bit more because he wanted to protect her from the beginning, easily accepting her into the group since she was one of them, and he even stuck around later on after things stepped up a notch. Remmie is one I've enjoyed the most since he's so unpredictable. His ability to not acknowledge or recognize social cues makes things hilarious at times and I feel there will be plenty of moments later on where he will just speak how he feels. I think those will be some of my favorite moments.

I think Riley did extremely well for her debut novel. There's so much mystery, possible romance, suspense, and action packed into this story. I look forward to continuing on with this series and reading much more from her in the future as well.

Wow Bianca this is a brilliant, intense read that will pull you in and not let you go.

Areyna is a vampire hybrid who believes she's the only one who ends up in Leverton for killing her foster parent, the question as to whether she actually did or not is stuck in the back of my mind. She is rescued from there by 2 human police offers who offer her a home in exchange for her help with their difficult cases.

One case leads them to a school following a number of murders and on her first day she is contacted by others like her. She meets 3 hybrids who all want to help her, just like the 2 offers who she lives with. Strong emotions cause so much conflict and the ever changing dynamic in the group makes everything so difficult Areyna.

However not everyone is who they seem to be, lies and manipulation are prevalent and explored as an unknown individual watches from the sidelines... or do they. I love all thes twists and turns that lead to a brilliant cliff hanger of an ending.

I cant wait for more secrets to be unearthed and for Areyna to learn who she really is and who she can actually trust.

Aryena’s Secret was a whirlwind in the best kind of way. We get thrown into a paranormal world where vampires and shifters exist, although we focus on Vampires in this story since Aryena is a hybrid. She is young and doesn’t remember anything before she was found on the streets at 14. She was institutionalized before she was rescued 3 years later by two detectives that become attached to her and want to take care of her and give her a “normal” life. Part of that is going to school where she meets three other hybrids and there’s murders happening pretty regularly. There’s a lot going on in this story, including a point of view from an unknown perspective who is obsessed with Aryena and we don’t know why. I loved Aryena’s interactions with the guys and for the most part I liked the guys all individually and as a group. I wasn’t keen on a couple moments there and as you read you may pick up on which ones. I’m very interested to find out more about the unknown entity and where Aryena will be at after the events at the end of this book.

Holy shiitake, people! Areyna’s Secret is set to give you a wild ride! This is a debut novel and the beginning of a series. I have read several debut authors this year, and I love it.

Areyna’s past is cloudy. That’s one of the most intriguing things about this story. What happened to cause her to not know who or what she is when she was found as a teen? She was rescued from a prison from a pair of young cops before the start of the story. In typical RH fashion, she fights the attraction she has for more than one person, questioning why she feels attracted to both Jason and Richard, then later to Derrin, Torrin, and Remmie. I think Remmie is my favorite of the guys.

The other most intriguing part was the few snippets we got from an unknown POV. I want to know! But it also adds a certain depth to the plot.

Then that ending.. I wasn’t quite expecting that! Makes you want to immediately grab number 2 and find out what happens next!

Interesting story but wish it had more meat in the story for me. Is suppose to be set in small town Australia but reads like its in USA, especially the school system. These inconsistencies kept pulling me out of the story.
Areyna is taken in by Richard & Jason and she has no memory before she was 14yrs old. Now older they are in a new town feel Areyna needs to go to school to help dealing being around other people while dealing with her hunger. All the characters are in their late teens early 20s.
There is a subplot that someone has been killing girls near the school. Richard & Jason use this to get into the school as well to investigate undercover. This is about as far as that subplot went. There seemed to be no investigation. There was only one scene about this & that was it. Was really disappointed as I think if this could have created another level of anticipation / stress to the story.
Does end on cliffhanger.

As far as I know this is the author's first book, and she did a fantastic job! I thought that the dynamics between Aryena and her two cop protectors are really fascinating because you could tell that they cared about each other, but there is something holding every one of them back from pursuing something. I also thought that the relationship between the three hybrids she meets is very unique too, once again there is something keeping all of them from pursuing her, except for Torren. I get the feeling a lot of secrets will be revealed by all of the the characters in the next book and that the relationships might start progressing into something more serious. Also beware of the ending because I was shook as hell.

This book had me turning each page so quickly with how fast it pulled me in. We meet Areyna as she remembers a time when she was taken from a type of jail to live with two cops, Jason and Richard.
Along with these two guys we also meet Derrin, Torrens and Remmie who are also like Areyna. After believing she was the only one like her what they bring to light helps her out but also brings a little heat.
With Jason and Richard having to find the killer of so many students we get such a great story unfold. Whilst also being left in the dark a little especially with the unknown character who wants her too.
Such a wicked ending can't wait to read more especially after that cliffhanger ending.

This book has many great concepts...sexy men, non-pushover female lead, multiple POV's, and great story building. It is a nice read that might hint at a potential reverse harem. Aryena does seem to have feelings for everyone, and there are some great twists. However, this is a slow burn. She in a virgin in this book and she is still one at the end. This means no sex in this book and just some heavy make-out scenes. I am curious to see if there will be more steam in the next book...I did think it was a great first in the series and I honestly think it will pick up. The foundation just needed to be placed. Give this a go but be warned slow burn in book 1!

Multiple pov ✔️
Kickass fmc ✔️
Handsome alphaholes/hybrids ✔️
Amazing story and writing ✔️

Am not 100% sure but it feels like a RH a little but not sure.

I just love the writing style the world and character building it all fits perfectly within it.

Ive laughed, chuckled and even giggled.
My favorite by far is Remmie he just ticks all the boxes for me.

All the guys bring something unique to the table so to speak and i like that.

Its absolutely worth the 5star rating!
Its worth to pick up and sink your teeth into it!

The book always has something going on. I can’t say whether this is a good or a bad thing. The characters are always in action. There is not much time to think, especially in the latter half of the book.

The boys fighting for a balance in their relationship with Areyna was also interesting to read. Usually, the Reverse Harem books that I read are based in scenarios where the guys are already looking for the same partner or are unconditionally ready to adjust to her wants and needs.

The intrigue in the book is maintained by an unknown perspective and it made me chill all over every time. Along with the killings going on in the school, this was more than enough to reel a reader in.

Happy Reading!

This book is so dang awesome. As soon as I had started it I could not put down. Arena is such a freaking strong character and just really great. I liked all the guys and loved how they were all protective of her and wanted to keep her safe. The author did such a fantastic job writing this and keeping me hooked from start to end. That ending though! Now I am definitely anxious for the next book because I need to know what will happen next with everything.

Great start for a first book!
It must suck not knowing anything about yourself or what you are, this is Areyna's story and how she is trying her hardest to be good and not end up back in that godforsaken prison.
I really enjoyed Areyna's story and her introduction to her new friends; the two who saved her and the three who know more about her then she does.
I liked reading the POV's and this Unknown person is creepy and I need to know more.
I am excited to see what book 2 brings.

Interesting debut - this story has an intriguing plot and I liked Areyna. Areyna is a vampire and she doesn’t have any memory of her past before the age of 14. She is saved by two young police officers from the institute she was being studied at. Now they plan for her to go to school. But she doesn’t really have her hunger under control. There are a few inconsistencies and plot holes. I do like the overall premise.

Bianca Riley has managed to reel me in hook, line and sinker. I absolutely love Areyna because she is such an interesting and complex character. The bond that she shares with Richard and Jason has me craving for more. Torren, Derrin and Remmie are really intriguing characters but I do not trust them whatsoever. That cliffhanger absolutely shattered my heart into a million pieces and I am scared to find out what happens in the next book.

Great start, definitely want more

I really liked Areyna, the hybrid vampire who is unaware of her history. I think she’s doing a great job dealing with so many unknowns and questions in her life. The guys around her are hit or miss; they’re pretty fickle boys that need a good smack upside the head every once and a while!
The book ends with quite the cliffhanger and with some BIG questions. I can’t wait to get book 2.

First of all, I love the concept of hybrids and the story. But the cops are weird. ONe more than the other.. You'll understand at the end of the book what I mean. And I dont understand how the three other guy just.. goes with it? Like, are they mates or are the just drawn to each other or whats going on? I'm confused.
We never got to see Areyna's powers in work. If she's ha hybrid she's supposed to have a rare ability? I dont know what that is. We still know nothing about her.

Remmie is absolutley my favorite character.

A different take on the Supernatural world we know. A well thought out world with fantastic characters that hit you in the feels. Our FMC has a rough past and it shapes her into what she becomes. Our H's are all different, complementing each others strengths and weaknesses. It's a slow burn that is building up to be a phenomenal series that is going to blow our minds.

This is the first book I read by this Author but won't be my last. This story was different I loved the different POVs from Areynas to Jason, Richard's, Derrins, Remmie and Torren. Areynas is special and the guys try to help her out. There is also the POV from an unknown which keeps you interested in his storyline. This book ends in one heck of a cliffhanger I can not wait until book 2

This first book in the series has a fantastic undertones of secrets, mystery and intrigue. It is well written, building a world of supernaturals. There are intriguing characters, Aryena, her two cop guardian and the three vampire hybrids she encounters. There is so much to discover and reveal, I am no the edge of my seat and excited for the next book.

Mind blowing cliffy!!

I absolutely LOVE Areyna! Vampire books are definitely a favorite of mine and this one is right up at the top of my list.
I love the guys. They all might feel for her in different ways but she definitely has a pull with each and every one of them.
This story has drama, angst, and one hell of a plot twist at the end.
Anxiously awaiting book 2!!

Whoa!

Someone should have warned me of that cliffhanger/bomb! I’ve been in a book hangover and this caught my attention.

I really enjoyed the mPOVs, the fact that not everyone was just on board with a group dynamic. Some parts seemed a little rushed but I really enjoyed this story and am ready for the second!

Half a Story

This seems like it could be really good, but it is half a story. There is a large story arc and a small one for the book. The small one was never finished. Just an abrupt ending.

I like where the story was going but if I am not willing to hang on if there I’m not one plot completed each book.

great book

I really enjoyed this book, it’s got a unique and intriguing storyline which had me not being able to put it down until the very end.
I loved the mystery to the story, the twists and suspense and that ‘unknown’ character had me thrown completely left of field.
Overall a great book, can’t wait to read book 2
