I wanted to cut the man’s eyes out of his sockets and listen to his screams as I did. There was only one person allowed to watch her, and that was me.”
As a fan of Ann-Marie’s work, I have been waiting for this story for quite a while. I don’t want to give too much of the story away so I won’t give any spoilers here.
We first meet Randall, or “Tonks” as his friends call him, in the story His Obsession. If you haven’t read that check it out. This book can absolutely be read as a standalone but I feel like you really can’t grasp just how much of a psychopath Randall is unless you read that book first. I mean, after reading that book I didn’t know how she was going to make a romance between Randall and ANYONE possible but Ann-Marie Davis never ceases to amaze.
I’ve been curious to see what kind of woman could make a man like Randall feel… well anything. Ivy isn’t my personal favorite type of heroine, I prefer them a little more demure and shy, but she was completely perfect for Randall. He needs someone up in his face to keep pushing him, it just wouldn’t make sense any other way. If she was a shrinking flower, not sure of what she wanted, she never could handle a man like Randall or his world.
The chemistry between the two of them is HOT! Beware of scorched pages. Period.
One of the thing’s I really enjoy about Ann Marie’s stories is how she can make a “romance novel” just so much more. Yes, the core of the story is this heat and the feelings that happen between Ivy and Randall, but this story is full of mystery, murder, suspense, thrills, action. It makes you just want to keep reading to find out what happens next, not just with Randall and Ivy but with the overall story. I think that’s a sign of a great author.
I think after reading that, I just have one questions for Ann-Marie Davis. When do we get Jake’s story?
