Killing Calm: Salvatore Brotherhood MC Book One

Bash
A war is coming whether I want it to or not.

When I kill the guy who dared touch my girl, danger is brought to my front door. But I've spent the last six years waiting for her and I don't intend on losing her again. She's my girl, my love, my Queen, my Old Lady.
She's mine and God help the poor bastards who come for her.

Addie
I didn't know a war was coming. But even if I did, I would've still chosen him.

He shows me his MC world. It's full of danger and deadly rivalries. We've been apart for six years and when The Horsemen take him from me, I know I'll do anything, kill anyone, to get him back.

We're loud. We're dangerous. We're unforgiving. And we're out for blood.

Hi, I'm Haley Tyler, a dark romance author from Texas!

I’m the one behind the gritty Salvatore Brotherhood MC series and the dark paranormal romance Calling on the Reaper. My stories are filled with characters you love to hate and plots that twist and turn when you least expect it.

I’ve been telling stories my whole life, but I officially became a published author in 2021 with my debut novel, Killing Calm (book 1 in the SBMC series!). Since then, I’ve been living and breathing my dark, twisted worlds.

When I’m not writing, you can catch me listening to Taylor Swift or heavy metal (because there’s no in-between), binge-watching the latest TV series, or diving into a good romance novel.

If you’re looking for your next dark romance obsession, you’ve found it. Welcome to my world!

“We protect each other. We save each other.”

A long term longing/soulmates, but also make it MC romance. Addie and Bash have always had feelings for each other, but it was never the right time or they just had other tougher things to deal with going on. So it’s finally their time, but with Bash being the president of the MC of course it isn’t simple. I thought this was a good read. There’s some violence and graphic content, but I think that’s to be expected from an MC romance. Anyway, I can’t wait to see what goes down in book two!

4.1 stars.
So this was not what I was expecting.

The timeline and pacing took a minute for me to get used to, but when I did it seemed to work.

That’s not to say that the pacing was some super complex way off thing. I was just expecting something completely different from all the teasers that I saw from not only the blurb but also BookTok.

They really sell the whole badass biker bitch leading the club into battle to save her man thing. And I really expected that to take up much more of the book than it actually did.
I don’t know why.
The pacing actually made a lot of sense once it clicked for me that that whole scenario wasn’t just gonna happen on page 2.

After all that I really enjoyed it.
It wasn’t my favorite.
I didn’t connect with the characters as much as I wanted to for various reasons.

I liked them all for different reasons.
But Addie was a little wishy washy at first and then a little too timid, for my tastes.

Bash was over the top hung up on Addie, in a way that just didn’t completely reel me in the way it was supposed to. He was super sweet and loving and almost obsessed. But I feel like it clashed with the badass biker he was supposed to be, instead of enhancing it.

Then Addie’s friends.
Heather was so not for me.
Her attitude just rubbed me wrong. Too confrontational, too bitchy for no reason mostly.

This was a very different MC dynamic than I’ve ever read.
I mean I’ve read other books where the MC didn’t have (or at least didn’t flaunt) club girls. And of course there’s the bikers who keep their girls in the dark until they’re alone at night when they tell them mostly everything.
But I’ve never read about a club letting the girls in on Church.
So that was cool.
Though I don’t think Addie did as good of a job holding her own as she should have.

Then the sex.
That was hot.
Definitely some of it felt a little out of place. Like maybe it wasn’t a good time, or the transition between plot and sex scene wasn’t as smooth as it could’ve been. But I’m not gonna complain about decent sex scenes with some roughness in them.

But that ending.
That’s what really cinched it for me.
It was what I was waiting for from the beginning.
Addie totally flipped a switch and went complete fucking badass and got shit done. I swear I was rooting her on to be even more ruthless.
It was so fun to read.

It wasn’t my favorite, but that last 25% of the book really make it worth reading I think.
It was fun seeing Addie grow throughout.

Depending on who’s book is next, I might read it.
If it’s Axel and Koda I think I’ll pick it up.
But I’m not interested in Heather or Reid so 🤷‍♀️.

Im glad I read it.
I had a good time.

Seriously, what is not wrong with this story.
1. The time line was confusing in the beginning which made it hard to relate.
2. I couldn't decide if I liked Addie or not. She was strong one minute and weak the next.
3. What happened to the MC Heirachy? As if the guys would listen to a woman who was only in the life for a couple months ( I guess).
4. Really no chemistry between Addie and Bash.
5. Skipped a lot of details that would have the story better.

How this got great reviews? I'll never know.

Too many flaws

I couldn't get my head wrapped around the characters. There was no procession of how a weak character turned into someone stronger unless it was some inner thoughts and realizations. And Bash...he was either too soft or tried too hard to be a bad ass. How many times did he have to remind everyone he was the prez? I think the intent of his character was to be a real hard ass on public and a teddy bear around Addy, but it just didn't work. If you're new to the MC trope you might like this, but I much prefer another series over this one

I really liked this book. Their connection was so out of this world, their love was so beautiful, what they felt for each other was so pure. Addie was been through a lot, she was so strong, most people wouldn't survive and thrive like she did. Bash was so obssessed and in love with her, it was adorable. They really complemented each other, you couldn't have one without the other, and for me that's what love is

the plot sounded good until you read the book. someone said that fmc is weak at one point and badass at another, and they couldn’t be more spot on. i also didn’t like her friends but whatever.

the mmc was not like how i would assume an mc près should be like. he sucked too.

basically, everything sucked.

You know in Kung Fu Panda when Po starts to train and they tell him there isn’t a level 0 until he fails miserably and then he becomes the level 0? That was this book. There is now a level 0.

I think the concept has great potential but how it turned out was shit. There was zero character development, which can be okay, except Bash and Addie’s behavior is like having whiplash. Bash was constantly throwing his weight around bc he’s president and I’m sorry but if you have to say it after every demand or speech then you do not have the power you think you do. He kept saying “my girl my decision” and while I’m usually here for that behavior his was not it. He wanted to make Addie “leader of the women” when she had no idea how his biker lifestyle worked or what was expected from her. And I refuse to believe that after a week or two they’d all just go along with it and let her have a say when she barely knew them and it had never been like that before. Also Addie was not balanced at all. One second her trauma was haunting her and holding her back but then the next she was saying she’d kill someone. She had trauma bc she killed someone! If push came to shove yeah she could do it again but you expect me to believe she’d willingly do it when she basically had ptsd from killing her rapist? And he deserved to die! I saw another review that said one second she was weak and the next she was a badass and that is so right. I just refuse to believe that she became so strong in a matter of weeks that she’d be able to 1 take control of the other guys in the MC and they’d actually listen and respect her and 2 that she would have the skillset to get Bash back and not get seriously injured. I expressed how stupid I thought things were in my reviews leading up to this one so I won’t go into detail but just know it was fucking retarded. If I wasn’t interested in the other couples on the series I wouldn’t have finished this one. But it’s more interconnected than other MC series are. Also there were a lot of spelling mistakes and for why? Other than the dumb fuck couple and the spelling mistakes it was an easy read so I’m hoping that the other books with different couples will be better bc I just seriously hate Bash and Addie. They didn’t talk about shit and their second chance was just them holding on to the past and trying to bond over the fact they’ve both killed someone before. And she got pregnant at the end. Probably bc they both wanted to trap the other.

One word.... OBSESSED. This was such a good book! From the very first pages to the Epilogue, I was captivated by Addie and Bash's story. Bash is the bad boy who knew Addie in High school. He has since grown up to be the dangerous "Prez" of the Salvatore Brotherhood MC. Addie is a barista who has a bada** personality. Not only does she stand up to her friends boyfriends but she can protect herself better than some of the MC men. The author added in so many details to characters and scenes that it was so easy to actually picture the story. The prologue explained background on Addie and Bash's story and really developed Addie as the strong character she was. From there the once rocky relationship grew into one you wanted to last. The book involved a good story line, some hot hot hot smut, and a HEA.

One of my favorite aspects from this story was how strong of a character Addie was. In a lot of romance books the woman is often seen as the damsel in distress or very submissive in all aspects of life. Not Addie! This girl took matters into her own hands, stood up for herself like you wouldn't believe, and even lead the MC in a mission!

I cannot wait to read more from this author, hopefully about some of the other MC members like Reid and Kiwi. Don't walk to get this book, RUN.

I absolutely loved this book! I was so anxious reading the book and wondering what was going to happen! Bash and Ad were an amazing couple. Ad as a teenager went through something traumatic and pushed everyone away. When she reconnects with Bash after 6 years he realizes she isn’t the same girl he loved because now she was a strong independent woman. When they reconnect a few months after Bash helps her out along with the clean up crew as she calls them she notices that he is Prez of The Brotherhood. One of my favorite parts of the book is when Bash realizes that Ad knows how to shoot a gun and how Ad didn’t want to hurt his ego. Ad leads the guys to rescue her man and she is determined to get her man back alive. If not she will die trying. I need more of Axel, Reid, Heather and Koda. I’ve read a few MC books but by far this has been my favorite.

I received this ARC through Bookfunnel.

❗️TW: This book touches on topics of rape, sexual harassment and assault❗️

Booktok won unfortunately once again. I was intrigued by the other reviews and wanted to read for myself what the hype was about… but like what in the ever loving fuck was this book?

Besides the confusing start and the “will-they-won’t-they” behaviour it was decent and then there was Reid. I thought MC are about union, friendship or rather “brotherhood”. I couldn’t blame Reid, if he left or didn’t respect Bash anymore - like Bash is dating his ex and being a dick about it, rubbing it under his nose.

And her “friends”… uff idk
The minute Heather saw her boy toy she was like, “I’m going with okay? Bye” meanwhile Addie wasn’t comfortable with going to the party in the first place. Koda was a better friend than Heather but still left her alone somewhere when the MC men came in. Left her alone, at party in a unknown premise. But still giving Bash shit for not protecting Addie. Yeah right.

Can’t say anything about Bash really. For a prez he seemed pretty careless and mostly holding the fact he’s prez over their heads and using his power when he wanted to win the argument.

loved!

Love when we get a kick ass heroine who has rallied after being knocked down in life and by others to be strong and a survivor. She was violated the worst way imaginable and she as broken for awhile but Addie fought back and learned to defend herself and be a stronger version of herself. Bash is awesome. He is what you want. He has loved her for so long and always come when she calls but has been waiting on her for years after she pushed him away after being attacked. But when they finally come together. Wow. So amazing. So steamy, and powerful. They are each others soulmates and monsters in the dark. To be there in the worst of times and best of times. Loved how she rallied the guys and went after bash. Can’t wait for axes book.

Not your typical MC read…

The story starts with Adelaide, Addie, needing help from Bash. Her long lost crush. 6 years earlier, Addie was assaulted at party. She withdrew from her friends, even the guy she loved. Over the years, she has built herself back up with self-defense classes. One night, she runs into her abuser and gets her vengeance. This brings Bash back into her life.

I loved the story and premise. Bash allows her to become more within the MC. Typically the women are not allowed to make decisions or sit in on their Chapel meetings. Upon Addie’s request and a vote, she sits in on meetings. I loved the dynamic between the two, the give and take, the push and pull.

This is a very good read. I definitely recommend.

Great read for a first-time writer!

📚 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲: Motorcycle Club, second-chance-ish.

📖 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: Sebastian Salvatore is head of an MC club and one of the baddest men on earth. But one call from the woman he's loved forever, and he's moving heaven and earth to be with her. As Bash and Addie get together, they realized they might just have started a war.

🌟 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: Good MC books need a great cast of characters. And I personally also need good female MCs to nail down their men. Killing Calm definitely hit the nail on the head with them.

Addie was a bad🍑 from the get-go. And when it comes to Bash, it's always great to see a bad man lose his mind from love.

The story was short - and there's places the extra words would have definitely made a difference. And ther are some general typos. But the story was good enough to keep me coming back for more.

This is the story of Addie and Bash. They have a history, which is explained at the beginning of the book a little bit and becomes clearer as the story continues. Life has interfered, but when they get back together, they hope it's for good. Addie is basically a "good girl" but Bash is the Prez of the Salvatore Brotherhood MC. Life has changed Addie though, and she is sure Bash is the one for her for life. If they can survive an attack from the outside, can they find their happily ever after?

This is a great story. Bash and Addie and both strong characters who claimed each other years ago. There is drama, danger, twists, friendship, loyalty, and passion. The storyline catches you right away, draws you in and keeps you reading till the very end. Can't wait to read the next book. First book I've read by this author. No spoilers in this review. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Who doesn't love a story where the leading lady and gent are apart for years and then come back together.

This is my first book by Hayley Tyler and to say I loved it was an understatement. Full of action, suspense, adrenaline and spice you would expect in an MC Book about the Prez and his Old Lady.

Defiantly be keeping my eye out for book 2 of the Salvatore Brotherhood.

This was definitely a book I should've waited until the series was complete to read.

The ending I feel was a bit of rushed circumstances that threw me off a bit. Though I definitely excited for Addie and Bash.

The plot of this gives me a mix of major SOA and Vampire Diaries vibes. Which I am 100% here for. The storyline was intriguing and entertaining. It was everything I wanted in an MC romance.

This is Salvatore Brotherhood Book One love story for Bash and Addie. This one has a lot of secrets and dangers all rolled into these pages. I wish it elaborated in the back stories of Bash, and Addy. I understand it is hard topics to bring in a book, but is already kinda part of the book. Reid drove me crazy with back and forth with understanding the relationship of Bash with Addy. It was an entertaining read, but it won't be favorite. I think it would help with the back stories of the two main characters to feel more for Addy and understand her behavior and actions more, as well as Bash.

I liked the plot but I felt like I had only half the story…. If the writing was better, this could have been at least 3 stars. Also, Addison Addie Ad was super annoying at times but then great others…. She was sometimes a very strong, independent lead and then others was a complete pushover…. Like for what.

Quick Read

I loved this quick read! It was a cute little love story and my favorite part is that the two main characters are SOBER. As a sober woman, you don’t find many books that have that a sober man and a sober woman! Adelaide and Bash are absolutely precious! Adelaide is also a bad a** and that Is a major part of why this book is so good! The sweet little baby that they are having is going to be one protected little babe!b
