Rate this book
The highly anticipated sequel to Sanguine and Stygian, a dark fantasy romance continuing Kara and Logan's story as they go from battlefield to ballroom in an effort to hunt down the elusive leader of the Sanguine Riders before it's too late. Passions will burn and secrets will be revealed in the glittering palace of seven spires.

Kara McKenna. Farrier, mercenary, spy.

After accepting a royal contract to identify Sanguine assassins targeting the princess of the realm, Kara goes undercover at court disguised as a noblewoman. But all is not as it seems in Lerathil’s marbled halls, and as long-buried secrets are unearthed within, Kara grows a target of her own.

Separated from Logan, Kara’s left to navigate the court’s treacherous smiles by herself. When he returns—and the cunning princess Kara is tasked to protect comes between them—Kara is pushed to the brink. She resorts to dark blood magic to sate her curse, cutting herself off from her powers in the process.

But Lerathil is a dangerous place to lower one’s guard, and the results of her dark bargain threaten to change the landscape of Teleria forever.

Lemme just say I am halfway through and she took this supposed "antidote" to help her suppress her keening, and i KNEW it was gonna be bad. She heard that it had negative side effects of making ladies ill, and she just decided impulsively one day because she thought logan wouldn't be helping her satiate her keening anymore that she HAD to take it. WITHOUT thinking about how sleezy this Salizar dude looked, and although she even CONSIDERED that giving her blood to Salizar would have repercussionS she GAVE IT TO HIM ANYWAYS, which caused her to nearly DIE later on.

is she tstl or what??

Still 4 stars because it held my attention till the end, which rarely happens :/

I downloaded Sanguine and Stygian on a stuff your kindle day, and I'll be honest, I never have high expectations from freebies. I spent hours researching what books I wanted to actually download, since most are available on KU. The description caught my interest immediately and I read it outloud to my husband, who always makes fun of my love of "smutty fae books with poor plots" but even he thought it sounded interesting. Mercenaries and a blood curse? Count me in! I read one other stuff your kindle day freebie before starting Sanguine and Stygian and it was okay, but I probably couldn't tell you the plot, characters names, and barely remember the title. Meanwhile, I devoured the first book, even ignored a NYE party I was at to keep reading it. Then I immediately started on The Stygian Crown. I also rarely have high hopes for sequels, especially when the main love interests get together in first book. But this one kept me on my toes and I was very annoyed that I couldn't read it as quickly due to my darn job and mother responsibilities. I am DYING knowing that the 3rd book isn't out yet.

TLDR: I read a LOT, it's basically my entire personality and rarely leave reviews unless the book is THAT good. This series has changed the chemistry in my brain and now I have to make all of my friends read it so I can talk to someone about it. Sara Sellers, if you need people to read advanced copies of your books, I volunteer as tribute!!! Also, I love Jon, please give him his own spin-off series or a book where he gets a HEA.

This was a good sequel, although I did enjoy the first book a bit more.

The pacing was good and I liked the element of mystery as Kara tried to complete the mission from the king.

I liked the king, he was quite humble and had a good sense of humour.

The magic was interesting, especially when Kara tried to block her curse.

There were a few things that were left unanswered which bothered me, particularly who was feeding information to the enemies.

The ending was abrupt and wasn't quite as satisfying as it could've been

Kara is really bad at spying, but she's a badass in most other things, so I'll accept her as a shitty spy. I saw the twist re: her heritage coming but was surprised by Logan's familial relationships. Princess Ariana is the WORST.

What do you mean there is no release date for the next book?!?!?!

I also enjoyed the second book (even though yeah she was a little dumb but at the same time she was never trained to be a GOOD spy)...I was so ready to gobble up the next book but it hasn't been released yet 😭

Good story. Real bad guys. The two heroes had a lot of misunderstandings but cleared them up quickly. I like when the couple communicates!

OMG I can't believe Sara ended the book like she did! 😫🙃😖.

I thought nothing would compare to the first book but I was wrong. This book surprised me in ways I can't still imagined.

This book literally gave me everything I wanted. Drama, smut, fight scenes, romance, MORE DRAMA, jealousy, EVERYTHING!!

I'm pleased with every single page I've read from this author, and I'm even more grateful that I decided to start this series.

Now, my problem is... THAT I HAVE TO WAIT to read the third book!! 💔 I hope to hear news about it soon.

Thank you Sara for write this wonder.
