A collection of short stories (some of them quite good) written by three Shanghai writers in the 1930s whose works deviated from the pervasive realism that was and still is the dominant literary style in China. More experimental, more borrowings from Western avant-gardes and Japanese writers of their times. Kind of echoing the 1980 experimental booms of Chinese literature. Their 1930 style was cut short by the war with Japan, the civil war, and the end of uncensored literature creativity in China.
