Ember relies on two things in her life: Cleanliness and order. Owing to a traumatic childhood, she’s got OCD and clings to control, doing her best to avoid people and men, in particular.

When a handsome stranger named Aimes Padmoore comes to her cartography office in Sweetland, claiming he needs her help deciphering a map that belonged to the Blue Faerie, Ember wants nothing more than to assist him and send him on his way.

What she’s not counting on is another meeting with the young man who, this time, brings a friend—the prince of Sweetland—Blake Nonpereil. And Blake is just as handsome as Aimes, which causes Ember quite a bit of angst because both men are nothing but trouble as far as she’s concerned.

When Aimes and Blake declare their wish for Ember to travel with them while they attempt to recover yet another map, she staunchly refuses. But when a third man gets involved, Vaughn, he forces Ember’s hand by targeting her where she’s most vulnerable—her family.

Forced into traveling with all three men into the Anoka desert and beyond, Ember finds she might end up needing them just as much as they need her.

Ember (Happily Never After #7)🐭🐀🐁

I was wondering how the glass slippers were to be introduced into the storyline?
At least she had fun wearing them, 😉

Her family life was dismal

Ember, is the 7th book in the Happily Never After Series by H.P. Mallory and one of my favorites so far! This Chosen One is a Cinderella retelling, but I will say, this one is a little looser of a retelling than some of the others, and in my opinion also crossed over into a mashup of Jasmine, but it does not make the story any less enjoyable or relatable.

The few details for my opinion that is semi is a mashup with Jasmine is that it takes place mostly the in desert, the General that she is up against is Hassan, a djinn, which goes more towards Jasmine than Cinderella, and technically her quest is stealing the Blue Faeries wand (even though the Blue Faerie wanted them to retrieve it). But there most definitely are Cinderella aspects as well that I loved, especially when it came to her wedding.

My favorite part of this entire book is that Ember is BRILLIANT. That her power is brains and not strength or wit or charm. I wish it was explained just a little bit more exactly how indepth her power worked, so it is more than just her being insanely smart but regardless I loved it. She is such a force that is underestimated, even by herself and I loved every bit of her growth. She is the meaning of the statement calm in the chaos.

Her romantic relationship with Blake, Vaughn and Aimes I also felt was so much more genuine and loving than some of the other Chosen Ones relationships. They each had their own type of chemistry with Ember, and then a strong group chemistry as well. Their want and love for her, and hers for them, did not seem overly lustful or forced in any way.

Overall, the characters and plot in Ember was very much enjoyable and I look forward to seeing what else she has to offer as a Chosen One in other books. Can't wait to read the next book in the series!

📖 Title: Ember
✍️ Author: HP Mallory
⭐️ Rating: (4 out of 5)
📅 Date Finished: October 19th
—————————————————————————
🧵 Quick Summary:
Ember, a version of Cinderella with a twist, works as a cartographer in the land of Sweetland. After a traumatic childhood that left her with OCD and a need for control, her life is set in predictable patterns—until a handsome stranger, Aimes Padmoore, enters her world. He brings a mysterious map linked to the Blue Faerie, and Ember must decide whether to keep her rigid routine or let him and the map pull her into adventure, risk, and change.
💭 What I Loved:
- How things were set up in the beginning.
- The constant influx of sarcasm between the main characters
- The action
😬 What Didn’t Work for Me:
- The overreaction to little things
- The unnecessary anger that came out of nowhere from a few of the characters.
🗣️ Final Thoughts:
I really enjoyed this book a lot more than I anticipated I would. It’s the seventh book in this series. I recommend reading them in order. They read like standalone novels, but they are all connected. I also really enjoyed the interpretation of Cinderella in this book. She’s so strong and intelligent. I wish I could have read more about her map making abilities. I would have liked to either see the scenes where she’s at work on the maps in more depth or I would have liked to have seen some flashbacks to jobs she did in the past.

Ember has lived in clutter her whole young life ,so when she older she has two things in her life keeping her life clean and orderly and deciphering clues on maps . Until the day that three men walk into her life and take her on the adventure of a life time . Where along the way she realizes that she needs these mean as much as they need her .
Ok let me talk to you about Ember and the boys . Ember well she is one shy woman who want to have her life orderly as possible . She thinks that the only way that she is helpful is with her mind . As she helps out the guys we see her grow and and come into her power . But I think that there is more to her then meets the eye . Yes she is the chosen one but i believe that she might be a dragon hidden in there . Blake well he is the prince and a very dashing man who is sweet and sexy . He just wants to be a normal man well as normal as a prince can get . Aimes is equally as sexy but in a gruffer kind of way . He is best friends with Blake and wants to do anything to find the map . Vaughan is well he is sweet under the gruff exterior . All three of these men are sexy and also have hearts of gold . When they are with Ember they are the best they can be . They are valiant and fighters for love of Ember and to help sav Fantaisia .
It has been a long time for a Happily never after book . I am so glad when I saw that the author finally had written book seven . I will say this is a really fun read with a lot of smexy time going on. I love how the author has reimagined the fairytales and turned them in reverse harems . The stories are a fun fast read that will have you sometimes blushing along with some of the characters in the books. If you haven't started this series I would suggest you start reading . You will not be disappointed . Great reads for this cold weather.

This isn’t like the other 6 books……. I don’t like Ember. She’s boring. The heroes are boring, the plot is full of holes and everything seemed to be perfect, for a chaotic world awaiting Morningstar, the great evil.

Ember was lost? Where could she be?

Oh! That’s easy. She must be in the place where she couldn’t survive, and wala! Wonderland, of course!

Huh. Weird.

And it’s a toss on what Ember’s real power is. Make up your mind. If you want her to be a fucking genius human, then stick to it. Don’t add some telekinesis or influence that originated out of nowhere.

Feels like lazy writing. Aimes’s powers are also weird, out of nowhere and no explanation.

I have a bad feeling the final book and the ending would be anticlimactic. How the hell did the Chosen know who they would fight? They were like oh, I’m a chosen for this bit of poem so I have to defeat Bacchus with a spear to his balls. At least put some context somewhere. We readers cannot read minds.

I received an ARC for an honest review.
I really enjoyed 90% of this book. The storyline moved well & was engaging. It was when we got to the ending/ wrapping up the book that I didn’t enjoy as much. It felt rushed & sorta crammed all the steamy scenes in all together- leaving out character growth & engagement. I do enjoy this series & the author & will read the rest of the series as it comes, I was just disappointed with a little bit of this one.

Into the Hoarde

I cannot express how much I adore this series!
I relate to Ember's shyness and am jealous of her with her men.
If only you could have relationships like these in reality!
If you haven't already read the other books in this series, I highly recommend getting the boxed sets!
I impatiently wait for Blair's story!

You will have a fun time reading this version of Cinderella. Each character is uniquely interesting. You will see the character evolve from what she was at the beginning. I recommend reading this and the other books in series.

OCD

XXX!!! ADULT CONTENT, READER DISCRETION ADVISED. We all have our quirks. Ember's is that she is OCD. She is also brilliant at solving puzzles and maps. Vaugn, Ainsley and Blake need her brand of brilliance.
