About the author

Ian C.P. Irvine

Ian Irvine was brought up in Scotland, and studied Physics for far too many years, before travelling the world working for high-technology companies. Ian has spent a career helping build the internet and delivering its benefits to users throughout the world,...as well as helping to bring up a family. Ian enjoys writing, painting and composing in his spare time. His particular joy is found in taking scientific fact and creating a thrilling story around it in such a way that readers learn science whilst enjoying the thrill of the ride. It is Ian's hope that everyone who reads an I.C.P.Irvine novel will come away learning something interesting that they would never otherwise have found an interest in. Never Science fiction. Always science fact. With a twist.

The first of Ian's novels is a Genetic Conspiracy Thriller which explores the world of Stem Cell Research and encourages us all to ask some very searching questions about the advances that science is making, and how much we, or others, should let it affect society. A contemporary adventure, "The Orlando File" takes the reader around the world and back, and creates a unique moral dilemma that the reader cannot help but get embroiled in: at the end, the reader must ask themself, what would they do in that situation?

His second novel "The Crown of Thorns" explores the power of genetics, explores the questions that the potential to clone humans will raise, and asks the ultimate question...what would happen if a scientist found a way to clone Jesus Christ?

Ian's third novel "London 2012 : What If?" departs from the world of genetics and explores an interesting possibility that Quantum Physics raises:the possibility for parallel worlds to exist alongside each other...and what would happen if a man who wondered what other types of lives he could be living had he made other choices, where unexpectedly to step from one world into another parallel world. "What If" is also an interesting voyage through human emotions, and many readers will find themselves asking themselves similar questions that the lead character does as they read the book. As with both "The Crown of Thorns" and "The Orlando File", at the end of the book the reader is left thinking...and different readers may take away different views on how the novels did, or should have ended... It is hoped that in this way, the novels will make themselves ideal subjects for reading clubs or book clubs.

Ian hopes that if you honour him by spending the time reading one his novels, that you will find it a positive experience, and enjoy it. He also invites you to email him and let him know if you did or did not enjoy the novel. And if you did, what were your favourite parts?

Happy Reading!

I miss the characters already.

I absolutely loved this sequel and I am writing this review in the wee, small hours of the morning because I have too much adrenaline to stop thinking about it. As story developed and the characters became more real I felt like I knew them. I have given this a 5 star review as I cannot fault it and I am always impressed by the amount of research Ian conducts, in all of his books, about some quite complicated topics. I always feel that I’ve learned something and this book is no different. I think it would appeal to most philosophical thinkers who have an open and questioning mind. Now I need to know what happens next. I need to know and you will too if you read it which I really recommend. Thanks, Ian and please continue the story as soon as you can.

Just wanted to get to the end

I had my own theories how this story would end, I was so wrong. Ended up not liking James Quinn at all, a man with no self control despite so desperate to get home to his wife. This just ruined the story for me.

Mr. Irvine has another winner.

Irvine again proves he’s an amazing author with an equally amazing and clever imagination. No spoiler here, but it was worth the wait to see how our old friend James copes with his new “old” families and even some new “new” families. But now, Mr. Irvine, you’ve left me on another cliff and I have a need to know what James will do with his knowledge of the future, or if he actually ends up in an even more distant future or past.
I’ll stay tuned.
Thanks Ian.

Not sure about this one

I’m sorry to say that I have skipped many many pages of this book as the content about Quantum Physics went way above my head and I found I was becoming very confused as to which world James was in and couldn’t sort out the link between Jane and Sarah and James1 and James2. However, picking out the bare bones of the story I was still captured into wanting to find out what happened to James. I would be interested in reading any sequel should it be written.

Interesting

This book was a wee bit depressing compared to the first book unfortunately. Also for some unknown reason I didn't much care for James given he came off as a whiney brat again harping on endlessly about finally having a son. Good grief he was blessed with 2 beautiful daughters. The character wants it all coming off as a self centered arse. Not interested in knowing any more about his travels given he's back in his original world in the proper year. overall good book but to add yet more drama is overkill to me.

Thoroughly enjoyable . After being fascinated from start to finish when reading book 1 some years ago , I never expected any sequel to follow like this book 2 has , to be anywhere enjoyable as the first one . I was delighted instead to read this book 2 , both for the intrigue together with the authors description of the main characters including once again the thoughts and interactions with them by the main character James Quinn . I intend to be first in the queue to read any further sequel ( Book 3 ) which hopefully the author will produce soon ( thanks Ian ha ) .

Wow great series

I read both book's in the series. They were both so good i could not put either one down. James is such a completed guy, his "what if" thoughts make his life so much more difficult. I hope there will be another book in the series, I would like to see what happens next. Or will be jump again??

Quite Amazing

I truly enjoyed the story. Couldn't out it down. Spent a lot of late nights reading. I keep thinking that James returned home and most likely was the start of the 18. Then who knows. Hopefully I will be able to read the ending to this story. Thanks for getting me out of my funk by getting me interested in reading again. The story will linger in my mind.

Not quite as gripping as tye first...

......but still a good read, keeping you wondering and hoping for this Quinn to get to where he needs to be. A bit annoying, how this Quinn attracts beautiful women, that fall in love with him, and how he keeps getting rich.

Love, Love, Love!!!

This story was so good that I didn’t want it to end and I’m really hoping that there will, at some point, be a book 3! Looking forward to reading additional books by Ian Irvine.

Enjoyed the tale as I did its prequel. Its ending is similar to that of the previous work. I felt that I was played and with more than a twinge of irritation. Will the next book end as did the first two?
I'll not take the risk. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...

Sobering.

Another great book about James Quinn. Also a sobering thought about, how the privileged would and or do, take care of themselves, if a serious disaster, were ever to happen.

Fantastic!!!

This really is an excellent, fast paced read. You are dragged along with James as he struggles to make sense and cope with the drastically changed world he arrives in......what next???

Not credible, shallow characters. No need whatsoever to wreck the heads with pandemic/test/mask stories, people had enough of it in reality. Book 1 was interesting but book 2 not at all. And no ending again...

I preferred Bk1, as Bk2 was a little far-fetched in places.......if you can differentiate between what counts as far fetched when talking about books concerning time travel! The agonising moral decisions and possibility of missing chances to jump in Bk1 made it one of the best books I have ever read. This one eased off the pedal a little. All Ian's books are totally worthy of reading though. So I am on tenterhooks for Bk3. Thanks Ian, you're a true talent.
