Heartthrob

Rate this book
Being the new kid in school is never easy. Especially not for a wallflower like Eun-jae, who has spent most of his childhood in and out of hospitals because of his weak heart. Now, his only wish is to live and experience life as a normal high schooler. Unfortunately, the high school experience for him not only means attending classes and making friends, but also getting bullied for looking like an omega. But things aren't all bad. Not when you consider his regular encounters with Jin-hyeon, the popular kid in school. As accidents and coincidences keep bringing them together, Eun-jae realizes he had met Jin-hyeon a long time ago… even if the latter doesn't remember. And although a throbbing heart has always been a cause for concern, Eun-jae discovers a heart can throb for sweeter reasons too.

Lots of fluff, it does have it's fair share of misunderstandings but they're so comically overexaggerated that instead of raising your blood pressure you'll just chuckle and roll your eyes but love then non the less😂❤️

Eun Jae annoyed the shit out of me. He constantly came to his own conclusions and acted upon them without trying to talk it out or share his thoughts with Jin Hyeon. A lot of his worries were fucking ridiculous, and he worried ALL THE TIMEEEEEEE. First about not wanting to ruin his friendship with Jin Hyeon, then about his relationship with Jin Hyeon after he becomes an alpha, since alphas can't fall in love and be together (which was so stupid btw, he knew he would likely be an omega so why was he surprised when he did present as such?? Idiot) and then about his relationship AFTER he presented. Literally the first two worries were stupid as fuck, the third one had basis, since Jin Hyeon did say he didn't like omegas (something that was never expanded on btw) but come onnnnn brooooo Jin Hyeon seemed so sure and like he really liked you so it's worth talking it through INSTEAD OF FLYING TO FRANCE FOR A WHOLE SUMMER??? DUMBASS.
Very annoying. But the relationship was healthy and I did enjoy the trope.
The ending felt rushed, but I didn't hate it ig.
Debating between 2 and 3 stars since it was rushed and there's definitely plot holes and things that could be expanded upon...

So sad that the manhwa author seemed to have been told to finish it up asap or maybe bad planning on her part, but it was definitely rushed! But the story itself was okay. The characters were endearing, but I definitely rolled my eyes a few times due to their miscommunication and how a lot of them could have been avoided and even unnecessary. Makes me realize they're kids and how immature they are (makes me remember why I don't read high school settings anymore at my age lol).
I really like the premise that they only present when they turn 18. And while the author tries to make the flow or introduction of more information natural, sometimes it seemed forced. I don't know if it was translation issues or there were a lot of things not mentioned properly. Like how ML has another friend in the hospital who happened to have a heart problem too (who was not introduced properly and set aside as soon as he was lol). Their first meeting was never really brought up later which was such a shame. Overall, this could have had a better rating if it was given more chapters (side stories perhaps) to wrap things up. We didn't even get to see the friends.

Eh. A bit so-so. The story was cute and very fluffy. The complications are all so gentle that it hardly feels like they're overcoming many obstacles to their relationship. I'm not a big omegaverse reader and I don't really get what it's supposed to add to this story. It doesn't necessarily detract, but it also doesn't add? Maybe that's just me.

Overall, a cosy read that's easily forgettable but not a bad way to spend an afternoon.
