My world is crashing around me. My fear is consuming me. I swore I would never be a victim again, but just his name makes me quake in terror.
We escaped. Justice was served. He died. But if that's all true, how is he back and ruining my life all over again?
I'm drowning.
Drowning in fear. Drowning in pain. Drowning in the past. The only light that's keeping me from being lost in the sea of my anguish is them. These three men are breathing life back into me, one safe space and comforting touch at a time. To repay them, I'm putting them in danger.
The stalking is escalating and they're getting caught in the crossfire. It's time for me to stand up and be the fighter I've trained myself to be. Not to save me this time, but to save them.
Save Them is book two in The Broken Souls series. The series must be read in order with the exception of the prequel novella. This book contains triggering content, please read the trigger warning before reading. This book is for 18+ due to adulty themes and coarse language.
S.A. Mackenzie is a Canadian writer of all things love and steam. She has been a hopeless romantic all of her life and loves to read and watch every sappy romance and rom-com she can find. In her downtime she likes to kick back with a good book or enjoy some couch potato time with video games.
This book what can I say about this book I have a lot to say. With this book you get everything. You get emotions, unexpected things, reveals, acceptance and love.
This book was amazing it made me feel a lot and it was everything I needed and more. Lay is the type of female character that her emotions are so deep that you connect with her very fast. The guys are so well writen that you fall for them. Their personalities are so amazing and so broken that it make them feel real. I feel like they are my friends and I'm in the story with them.
The guys are so amazing everytime they think about her is in a loving way they see her like a warrior and they treat her like a queen I'm so in love with them. The guys are putting her pieces together one by one and at the same time she is putting their pieces together. The way the guys talk about her is so amazing and fullfiling. They are so sweet that they made me cry a lot. They make her feel worth it and strong in a very real way. Even when they did it she had doubts about her self and that was very real. It wasn't fake she didn't got better because of it. She got stronger because she decided that she needed to do it in order for her to be better and embrace the happines.
The characters in this book are so real. They have trauma very dark past and you see everything the good the bad and you see them broke down. That make it so easy to connect with them there is not a magical recovery and everything is perfect Nope. You get very very broken souls and that make me love them even more. Makes them so relatable in every way. Lay is a character that represent a lot of women and everything that she felt was so deep and real. Every time Lay had a panic attack it got me feeling like I was having one I stopped breathing with her I got very emotional. Her struggles, her fears everytime she broke down everytime she was crying I was there with her. This book was so good that every word was like a pounding of my heart it went straight to my soul.
I love so so so much that each character in this book is broken they all have demons and they are fighting then in their own way. Being together make them stronger and gives them a reason to keep fighting.
This book made me feel a lot and when I say a LOT IS A LOT. In a way it got me feeling like the guys were talking to me and they were making me feel better. It was a way to connect with them that got me feeling every word and every scene like I was inside the book and included in the dialogues. It was an amazing experience.
Even when there is a lot of bad things happening there were funny time and sexy time. The way the sex was written in this book was so good that everything click so perfect. It was hot and steamy but and the dame time you see how Lay is getting more confortable with her self and her sexuality. It was amazing to see. Also wow the sex was amazing and it was not over done. It was just perfect.❤
This book was amazing in a way that it touches your soul and is going to have a very special place in your heart.
❤What I learn with this book❤
Don't let fear and trauma control you. You are stronger. Even when you don't want to wake up and do regular things you are winning because you are alive you heart still beating and you are here. Stronger doesn't mean perfect it means that you got up and you still fighting your demons. ❤
"You’re a fucking hellcat, baby, and even the depths of hell can’t hold you.”
“We’ve got you, Lay. We will also protect you, with everything we have in us. We’re all broken souls, but we fit together pretty damn perfectly. Each of us has dealt with our fair share of bad shit, that doesn’t mean it will always be this way. Our happy ending is coming, I can feel it.”
"I’m getting stronger the more I defeat my demons."
So I’ll start by saying make sure you read the trigger warnings on this one as there are some serious topics covered and this may trigger some people.
This book follows on straight from where book 1 left off and you are launched into the drama head first. The twists and turns will leave you reeling and I didn’t see that ending coming at all!
I love how this book deals with a variety of mental health issues but in a real and respectful way and not just a plot quirk. Lay and her guys are just amazing with the way they support each other through the various trials they encounter and I found that I couldn’t put this book down once I started.
This is an amazing book and I can’t wait for the next book in the series as I have to know what happens next!
Holy SHIT! Wtf was THAT!? Kevin jr is so gonna die at some point. Is it just me or does this have the same feels of the book/movie frailty? I swear, Kevin's inner dialogue sounds just like that.story.
Save Them picks up exactly where book one left off. It's hard to comprehend and put into words how terrifying and tragic the things that Alayna saw are. It's horrible and would be impossible to cope with. Thankfully she also has three amazing men who are also a little broken themselves to help mend her pieces and lift her up when she's down. Love is a powerful thing. She is so strong and brave. She fights her damnedest to come back out on the other side. She's a freaking bada$$!
Alayna has been through so much in her life and it's far from over. How can you fight a stalker that is always one step ahead of you and somehow manages not to be seen? How much trauma can one person endure before they are completely and irrevocably broken for good? There are constant twist and turns around every corner. No one is safe mentally or physically.
It's practically impossible to read this book without shedding tears. I can't possibly begin to describe this book and the emotions it brings out. You get broken along with the characters. You are also waiting to be put back together even if it's with duct tape and glue. This story will wreak havoc on your mind.
Mental health is a major thing that needs to be addressed more in our society. This story dwelves deep into depression, anxiety, ptsd and what alot of people go through everyday. Myself included. It's hard to fight a battle that's in your mind. The author is an amazing person for bringing attention to mental health disorders. To anyone suffering and constantly at war with your mind YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
I received an arc of this book in exchange for my honest review.
First and foremost please please read the trigger warnings. With that being said here we go.
Before you read this book go out and by a huge bottle of whiskey, vodka, tequila, or something equally as strong. You will definitely need it. Then I want you to get all your things that bring you comfort and get them together; whether it’s a blanket, stuffy, an old pair of sweatpants or whatever else they may be. Gather them. Then get a batch of brownies, yes I mean the whole batch, a big tub of ice cream. Got all that? Okay, now you are ready to binge read this book!
As always this author has blown me away. It was written amazingly and flowed so well. The trauma, pain, growth, and everything else this author brings to life in this book is both beautiful and ugly. The true rawness she paints for us is don’t in a way that is real and done with a sensitivity that makes you think about your own life. Each of our characters have had some horrible things done to them in their lives, but it hasn’t beaten them down. It made them fight and take life one day at a time. The way everything unveils is so real and authentic. I love that these characters are broken each in their own ways but are facing them.
I absolutely love these characters. They show us that no matter what we go through there’s always a way out. That it’s okay to be broken, and hurting. It’s okay not to be perfect. That even though we are hurting that we can find good people in this world. That in itself is beautiful. The way these men devote themselves to her is breathtakingly beautiful. They help her in ways she couldn’t by herself. They trust her completely, believe in her, love her unconditionally and for who she is. The growth of these characters in this book has been monumental.
This author has taken on the issue of mental illness in this serious and written it in a way that’s not pitying. I condone you. You have outdone yourself.
This book, this author knows how to hit you emotionally and this book gives us that and more!
I loved book 1 and I have been waiting for this and now that I’ve read it, I wasn’t ready. I have been emotionally affected by books before but this one is on a whole new level. This takes you on highs, lows and everything in between.
I loved the growth. Not just from the FMC but from all of them. They have all navigated everything beautifully and yes also not beautifully but that makes the journey feel more authentic. This book had me reflecting a lot on my own life and I both appreciated it and didn’t. Only because it made me acknowledge certain events and emotions I could have done without but I’m great and pushing down and ignoring my own demons. Even though this left me raw emotionally it was also liberating in a way.
These characters are relatable, raw, their chemistry is amazing and I love how they grew together. So many bad things in their lives have tested them and they indeed went through the ultimate test with this one and I love how Alayna learnt to trust the others but more importantly herself. She was independent but in the way that she closed herself off so I loved seeing her trust and open up to the guys fully in this one. I know the struggle to let people in so seeing her do it was both inspiring and had me engaged through to the end.
This is one book you cannot put down and it will consume you. I finished this book a couple days ago and I immediately read it again. I cannot get this book out of my head. The world build was great and the plot was amazing. It’s set at a great pace and everything seems to unravel naturally and it was amazing. This is definitely a favourite read of the year for me.
This book has TRIGGERS, please be mindful and understanding that with these triggers brings a story of survival.
This is the second book to a beautifully tragic story of survival and being able to find love. Lay is a beautiful survivor who has managed to find three amazing men who's souls are as damaged but with that damage comes the understanding of what it takes to mend and build a new existence that includes a lot of love, healing and understanding. BUT moving forward also comes with reminders of the horrendous past that shaped this amazing lady into who she is. Can Lay escape her past? Will it always hinder her in forward progression? Can these four souls survive the current evil? Can she save them? Can they save each other? What does the future hold and can they do this together? Can they heal each others hearts? These are all questions that only they can answer together.......
I this is such an amazing story; there are happy moments, make you cry moments and an evil villain that will make the hairs on your arms stand up.
This book picks up right where we left off. From the first chapter you already know this tail is about to get twisted, and dark.
Alayna has already been through so much in her life, and with already experiences her greatest loss how can she take more? She gets a a phone call that turns her blood to ice, and her men ready to fight for everything!
Through the whole book you worry about what could happen next? What else are they going to have to deal with? It’s defiantly a roller coaster of emotion that really shows what this new love can handle.
However just because it’s dark doesn’t mean there is no light. The love these me. Feel for Alayna is not something she has experienced before. With her history it causes her to question things, but love always wins!
I can’t wait for the next book, and to see just how Alayna’s twist of faith life keeps twisting!
Alayna and her guys must survive the mental torment that Kevin puts them through and bond together no matter what. This book explores more of their pasts and how they learn to handle it. There are flashbacks of the abuse Alayna suffered in fostercare alongside Declan as well as other abuse. This family will do whatever it takes to protect eachother and show how much they love eachother and are each worthy of that love and protection. This book is another well written look into how ptsd can manifest and explores various ways in which it can be handled, as well as techniques for helping someone experiencing a panic attack or demonstrating other signs. These ways include reassurance and recommending seeking medical help if necessary. I look forward to reading the rest of the series. I received a copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
Oh this series is a wonderfully tormented storyline. Alayna has been through the most awful things that no child should ever endure. Then to have blast from your past show up and wreak havoc on your trauma progress!! Her men have stuck by her and do their best to bring the light back to her life. They are all broken puzzle pieces that fit together in the most amazing way to create a beautiful picture. Dark themes shine a light on mental health during and after abuse. Amazing job and of course beware of the dreaded cliffhanger that made me gasp and sigh at the last page knowing it would be a wait for the next book. But I’d rather have a cliffhanger than no book at all lol so I will count my blessings!
Alayna and her guys continue their journey through their trauma and have to face new threat and ghost from the past.
A new happy development occurs but as Alayna is threatened by a stalker, she has to take a hard decision and Adam won't make it easy on her (but his reaction was kind of cute as well😊).
The end promises a very interesting development in the next book as Declan's suicide might not bewhat it looked like and as the threat against Alayna is still there and won't stop.
I like very much this story but I have to say that it looks a lot like the "Pieces of Us" serie, even if in this book the FMC has to face bigger traumas. Well, at the end it doesn't bother me much but I just wanted to make a comment about it.
S.A mackenzie you are truly amazing, I adored the first book of this series but this second book ohmigosh it was truly amazing, 5 stars isn't enough for this book, it was filled with emotions, humour and fear and I felt it all.
Layna oh my god that woman even though she's a fictional character needs a bloody medal and I need to drop my butt into this bookiverse and drop kick that Kevin dude into next week.
Is it possible to truly hate a character? Is it normal to want to be in this book so I can literally chop up Kevin into tiny tiny chunks.
Absolutely amazing book
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
After the jaw dropping ending of the first book and then jumping straight into it with this one starting with the emotional stuff right off the bat, S.A. Mackenzie you have truly put my poor heart in a blender and messed it all up.
I literally could not put this book down. It consumed me until the very last page. It was raw, intense and absolutely heartbreaking to read what Alayna was put through from page one.
Alayna we get to see her at her worst and watch her climb back up healing and finding herself again with the help of her 3 broken but amazing men.
This book is filled with so much love! Yes, there is heartache and soul searching, but it was truly beautiful to read. The continuance of this love story is amazing to read as the characters further develop past their traumas. You feel all cozy and warm from the love, but also kept in rapture by the suspense of what will happen next with the stalker. It was a good way to take the story in this direction with the “villain” of the story that you don’t feel it’s a cliche. Warning though, that cliffhanger! The ending is set up so perfectly that you didn’t even expect it. The cliffhanger will keep you wanting more!
This left off right where book one left us. It only gets deeper and more intense as the characters continue to navigate life with each other and develop into the dynamic and relationships they are in.
I really appreciate S.A. Mackenzie style and sensitivity to the mental health issues that are addressed in this series. She wrote it with what feel like raw emotion and such elegance.
Be prepared to have the tissues handy, that your feet will go to sleep from being on the edge of your seat, and that your mind will be shattered right along with our Lay and her guys and put back together with duck tape and glue to fight another day.
The Broken Souls series is raw and emotional. This author knows exactly how to pull on your heartstrings, and you will need your handy dandy tissues for the second book, just like the first. Lay and her guys are still right in the sights of her stalker. She wrestles with letting the fear rule her or pushing forward with her life, with the guys by her side. I love how their relationship progresses and their love only strengthens and grows. I am anxious to see how many more tears this series can pull from me in the final book, and I am desperately hoping for a happily ever after for these characters I've come to love so much.
Reading in order is required in this series. This book picks up where book 1 left it. Tragedy always strikes the ones who had it rough already. Luckily Alayna doesn't have to face it alone. She has three amazing men who are like her. A bit broken but together they might be whole again! I love the struggle with life she goes through as it isn't always sunshine and rainbows. Makes this perfect to relate to cause I'm sure we all have something we struggle with. Depression is real and I know that first hand. Brilliant story!
After how amazing book one was it left me wondering if we were going to have the same momentum for book two.... boy did S.A. deliver!! I literally can't put into words just how amazing, awesome, awe inspiring this series has been so far. The author just has this way of portraying all of these emotions that somehow make you feel like you're living in the moment with her characters. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite series that I'll cherish forever. I'm waiting on pins and needles for book 3 and it can't come soon enough!
Honestly I hate writing bad reviews and had to DNF at 56% -
This was too cringey for me, the insta love felt forced and no chemistry between the characters, so much missing plot lines - it had so much potential but fell through. The main character is annoying she’s a tough girl hardened by trauma but breaks down every five seconds and leans on the men way too much, she doesn’t trust anybody but trusts the guys, the lawyer and a random girl from the motel after 5 seconds - I really wanted to like this book but unfortunately it’s only a 1 star rating
This series is such a tear jerker!!!!! My heart can't take the emotional roller!!!!! Another master piece by S.A. MacKenzie!!!! Alayna has been through so much, and it is never ending, all I want to do is wrap her up and give her all the love!!!! Her harem are all amazing, and a bit broken too, but they are lifting her up and helping her work through things!!! I just can't get over this and cannot wait for the next one!!!
The second instalment was crazy. Following on the events of the first book Alayna is moving forward with the guys Dylan left for her. However, they are still haunted by the events that brought them together.
Now isn’t the time for challenges but the past has a funny way of showing itself when things are going perfect. Alayna is going to fight
Save Them is the second instalment and deadly as the first instalment and will tear you apart as much as the first one
So I totally thought this was a duet not sure why so whoops and arghhhh because well theres so much more I need to know. Thank goodness I only have a few weeks to wait. I have enjoyed the authors writing style though book 1 for me kept me more engaged. That being said till on book 3 because I need all the answers. Also hat off to the author as there were a few things I didn't see coming so good curve balls!
This one is dark and twisted. It starts up where save me ends. I love how the author shows how depression is a daily battle. The FMC struggles with her past and trauma. She’s strong in the sense that she is a survivor and even though there are dark days, she pulls through to not let the darkness succumb her. The guys each have their own struggles and I love how all their broken pieces make a whole. Can’t wait for book three.
Oh this series is tearing at my heart. I'm so in love with Lay, Rhys, Riggs and Adam. They all bring a strength to each other. No matter how hard Lay tries to move on with her life Kevin does something to to try to bring her down. All the emotions this book brings just rips at you and now there's more for them all to think about. Love love this series so much.
The second installment of the series, and yet again I went tumbling into Alynas story. This book kept me up at night, it's a romantic thriller and if I wasn't thinking about the who what where I was thinking of those flawed yet gorgeous men. Again mental heath has been written in such a respectful yet impactful way. I await the next installment in the series to see what transpires.
Wow, that was more than a little bit amazing. Takes something special to take darkness like that and turn it into something beautiful. I’m loving seeing Lay’s happiness start to shine through and watch her take back control of herself and her life. Can’t wait for her to get her happily ever after!
Man, this book was so heavy on the emotions, but so freaking good! Please make sure to read the trigger warnings because this book does cover a variety of sensitive topics. I was literally on the edge of my seat the whole time through this emotional rollercoaster. I’m so hoping for a HEA for Lay and the guys, they all deserve it!
This book picks up right where the heart breaking cliffhanger of the last book ended and what a ride it was. SA Mackenzie portrays the emotions in this book in such a real, relatable way. Such an emotional ride. I love her 3 guys. They are each damaged in their own way, but able to be there for her as she faces challenge after challenge. Bring your Kleenex, but you must read this book!
The emotions in this book are so raw and will tug at your heart strings. The chemistry between all of the characters is amazing. There were a few twists thrown in too. Some parts will a little slow for me because I prefer more action in book. However, the deep conversations and growth made were needed so I understand.
