Home from the Empire, the crews split up. Charlie has escaped to the Modloch home world. It doesn’t take Steven and Komoru long to get bored and with a new crew set off on a new adventure, to try and find out what happened to the expeditions from the Empire that failed to reach Earth. They find more than they bargained for, and the Federation orders them to once again take up the mantle of Ambassadors. Taking advantage of their renewed status they are then sent on one of the most dangerous missions they have ever faced; to broker a peace between a reptilian meat-eating race that likes to hunt and eat its guests, and the Federation.Darrick has forced Charlie's new crewmates to become Modloch citizens and is putting pressure on them to accept Charlie as their Lord and master, which causes nothing but problems for Charlie. Thrown into this mix, is old man Smith, a mysterious old spy. If he gets his way, he will not only kill Charlie but spread a deadly virus throughout the Modloch Empire.
This book of a human soldier turned into a Lord that gets blackmailed into breeding with alien princesses and having children he can never visit due to politics was Fantastic. He has had enough so in this book he chooses which chicks he bangs. The colonists is a very small part of this story.
I liked the whole thing. The character’s are also life like. I had no problems being in the story. I really liked the way Charlie was able to find things to not only sale to Earth but to the Federation and each alien planet. Look forward to the next two stories. Keep them coming.
This was probably the best book in series so far, however I still have doubts with the way the author portrays many of the women/females in these stories.
Fantastic adventure I’m always excited when the next one comes out.
Here’s to hoping this series lasts for at least another 10. I feel like I get a present whenever the next one is available. Great characters, great story progression and you never know what’s around the next bend in the road. I’m beginning to think the author is as much a character as those he writes about. Cheers.
I'd found recent volumes in this series a little hard going for me as the author took the stories in directions I didn't particularly like, however with this volume it's much more on track with what I like. This is not a comment on the author's quality of writing which remains high especially his characterisation just my personal feelings regarding the plot.
This volume had exploration and mysteries, the occasional laugh, and some long-running loose ends tied up. Like many have said before one of this series's strengths is good and bad is not a question of species but of character. On the basis of this volume, I've bought the next two and hope the same route is travelled.
Last few books have been too Charlie centric, this time round Steven manages to get included in the story line New race, another bunch of meat eaters, and another set of problems. Steven does his usual poor ambassadorial routine, that works out better than any fully trained ambassador could ever hope for and Charlie then goes about sorting out what aspects of commerce, the new race, earth and the federation can make money on The usual slip ups and mis understandings make for another enjoyable read
Steven and Charlie have come a long way from childhood friends. Steven keeps expanding the knowledge of universe. Charlie, with his ability, expanding his influence along the lines of Anne McCaffrey's "The Tower and the Hive" series. I thank you for the hours of enjoyment your books have given me.
The 'Colonists' takes you on another great adventure of spacefaring (rescue of Commander Boulom's crew), meeting new races (Nohla) and the endless sagas of Charlie in the Modloch empire. Charlie finally comes face to face with his main enemy but this time is well prepared. Great read !
Fantastic, awesome, one of the best yet. Canny wait for the next thrilling journey. If this is your first Jim Murison book can I suggest you start at the beginning.
