I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I have only recently started getting back into the fantasy genre and was unsure what a book about angels would be like. I didn't really become invested into the story until about halfway through but by then I was hooked. I understand the first part is a lot of world building and setting the scene for future books though. The second half of the book was pacy and exciting and left me wanting to read part two. I enjoyed that the angels had some grit and weren't all glowy, preachy beings and am looking forward to finding out what happens next!
