Fated Star Mates #5

Stolen by the Alien Rogue

Rate this book
I escaped the Vraxen breeding center unharmed. Now I’m lost in the Wastelands and running from an alien who claims I’m his mate.

I hate rude awakenings, particularly when those waking me are massive blue aliens with rippling muscles, horns, and tails.

Aliens who brought me to a breeding center. On another planet.

I don’t appreciate them abducting me, and they don’t appreciate my lack of cooperation. The human women I’m with think I’m unhinged because I run my mouth around the guards. Keep my head down and hope for the best? Screw that; I’m going down fighting.

When we escape to the Wastelands, another group of aliens find us, and I have a bigger fight on my hands. Zarex. This alien is larger than the others, with black stripes and horns sharpened to points. He’s impressed by my tattoos and warrior spirit—and Zarex has decided I belong to him.

Nope. I’ve escaped once; nobody will take me again.

Running from him and the other women who escaped the center wasn’t the best move. Now I’m stuck alone in an alien wilderness with a sharp metal piece from our crashed spaceship for a weapon and basic survival skills.

I need to outrun Zarex before the creatures I hear at night find me first.

But if I manage to escape the Wastelands, where the hell do I go?

And if he finds me first, what will Zarex do to the human female he’s claimed as his?

Stolen by the Alien Rogue is a full-length, standalone sci-fi alien romance featuring a feisty British heroine and an alien who’ll stop at nothing to find and protect his human mate.

If you love sexy aliens, strong heroines, and fated mates romance, you’ll love this new series from Kyla Quinn. No cliffhangers or cheating and a happily ever after in every book—I promise!

All books in the Fated Star Mates series are standalones featuring different couples. They can be read individually, but the series is best read in order.

Frankie, the female human lead, agreed to be cryogenically frozen and sent into space because it gave her a chance at a decent life and no such chance existed on Earth. When she wakes up being held by aliens and shoved into a cage, she’s frustrated but almost resigned to the poor quality of life. Zol, the male alien lead, is only present because his spaceship desperately needs a part to continue successfully but, when he senses his fated mate, he races to save her from the cage she’s trapped in and to get off the space station before her captors catch them both. It doesn’t help that her language is one his translator has never encountered before…

This novella is dual POV, well written, and a funny steamy prequel to a new series by the author. I laughed at Frankie and Zol’s interactions with each other and with the animal companion Frankie managed to acquire. I appreciated Frankie’s resilience and her willingness to take chances as they presented themselves. I enjoyed Zol’s enthusiasm and his infinite determination to save them both, his creativity and his softness towards Frankie. I enjoyed the animal companion, so cute and yet also with a distinct personality and wants. I was VERY appreciative of the consent focus for intimate interactions and Zol’s determination that Frankie should understand exactly what she was signing up for.

I received a complimentary copy from the author (through her newsletter) and this is my voluntary honest review.

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: fated mate
Angst: 😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Absolutely fracking loved this novella and it made me super excited for this new series ♥️. Well written, fast paced, and tons of great banter that kept me engaged till the end. The characters are wonderful. I loved Zol was a bit cockier than her usual heroes, but was still a jelly roll for his lady. Truly can’t wait to get my hands on the first book of the series - these Zaarn are hot!!

Stolen by the Alien Rogue is the prequel novella to Krista Luna’s new series, Fated Mates of the Zaarn. It is a standalone and told in first person, from dual perspective.

⛔️ My bookshelves can sometimes be spoilers

Will do better review later but loved this story! The FMC was so spunky and smart and scrappy, and that’s one of my favorite FMC’s to read! Quick fun space adventure with two characters on the run and sweet alien pet named Beans! A fun read for sure. (Lower spice but great spicy scenes)

3+ rounded up. Biggest complaint - just too short!

Frankie is a human sent into space in cryo-sleep, but has ended up the latest exhibit in an intergalactic zoo. Zol is a mercenary who stumbles across her in a warehouse and recognizes her for what she is - his fated mate. Unfortunately, he's technically stealing her when breaking her out, and of course she's a new enough species that translators don't work yet... Adventure and romance ultimately follow in this introduction to a new series.

I liked both leads. Frankie is spunky and self-reliant after living on a fairly post-apocalyptic Earth, and she still doesn't cross into TSTL recklessly brash territory. Zol is the standard badass space mercenary (horns, tail, and all), but pretty sweet too, recognizing something that he never thought he'd find - so he appreciates this gift instead of taking it for granted. I really liked that he wouldn't finalize the bond until she understood what was happening.

As I mentioned, there's a lot introduced here that could be fun if well developed in future books in the series. One of my favorite parts of sci-fi romances is the extreme culture clashes - and often biological clashes too - like her absence of rulaa here! Coming to the balance between cultures as well as individuals (frequently while evading space pirates or tyrannical empires or similar) is part of what I enjoy. We get glimpses of that here, but due to the short page count, we don't get to explore it much. Looking forward to how Zol's crew reacts to their mates!

Alternating 1st person POV. No cheating, no OW/OM drama, no love triangle nonsense. Quick, fast, action-filled read. Insta-love fated mates, but with one-half of the pairing not realizing what's going on. Some funny moments, and a bit of steam, overall resulting in a good quick read. HFN but lots of groundwork set out for future stories.

Would I read more in this series? Yes. Like I said, there's some good potential here that needs more than a novella's length to explore. Here's hoping that she gets the space to develop it.

Was interested in this series and has this starter novella so decided to dig in!

This is a fantastic starter novella to a series. There's an incredible amount of worldbuilding jam packed into these pages and I loved it. I also enjoyed the writing style - very casual, light, and fun. The tone was more lighthearted on the FMC POV than the MMC POV, who was very dedicated to the seriousness of their situation. Both characters were enjoyable and given a little bit of depth. It was overall a really solid novella and made me want to read the series, so mission accomplished!

The aliens in the room went back to what they were doing, either talking, drinking, or eating some kinda light-yellow seed out of cone-shaped containers made of white plastic. One of the bird aliens raised an almost empty bowl to its face. Its beak fit into the cone perfectly, allowing it to scoop the last of the seeds from the bottom.

This. This is fantastic. It's only three lines but it's such a great little bit of worldbuilding. I LOVE shit like this.

So full disclosure. I read this this ENTIRE way through thinking it was a different book. The book I thought it was was the prologue in a series, instead, this was the last of a different series. The whole fucking time I was like "this is the prologue?!?! Everyone knows everything and everyone one, and wtf is going on?!?!" So yeah. I guess that is my bad. But they have the same EXACT title and a shirtless blue alien on the cover....so is it reallyyy my fault?

That aside this still sucked major ass. Super duper alpha alien, so fucking boring absolutely, nothing else to him but a giant dick and no brain, not a single drop of personality. TSTL FMC tries to make up for it and fails miserably. Honestly, sometimes these dumb bitches deserve to fucking die. Yeah just run off into an alien forest and eat random berries that makes sense.

This book was amazing and a quick read and I loved how Zol and Frankie came together. Zol is a Zaarn mercenary and his ship the Dare Devil needs parts and that’s what brings him to Sturd station that’s run by Grug who own everything and dressed as a monk to disguise himself he finds the warehouse that has the parts they need but when he senses his mate nearby trapped in a cage patting a kreecat that’s now bonded with her he rescues her and forgets his mission for parts to save his mate but she doesn’t understand what he’s trying to say but she excepts his help and makes him save her pet as well. Now they need to escape the warehouse before they get caught by the Grug but it’s to late and now they need to hide. Frankie is a human that volunteered to leave earth for a better life because only the rich live well. Frankie has lived a hard life on the streets and is very street smart and now after waking up from cryogenic sleep she is thrown into a cage with other aliens around her it’s like a zoo. She makes friends with a cat like animal and then a huge blue alien is staring at her and saying something but when he busts her out she knows she is safe with him because her gut has never failed her before and now the alarms are going off and the space station is on lockdown and they must find a safe place to hide. How does it all turn out can he find a translator so they can communicate and can the get off the space station in one piece and do they have a future together or not. Brilliant book.

Fun novella to start a series. Frankie wakes us from a cryogenic sleep to blob looking aliens throwing her into a cage like a pet. She’s rescued by a horned, blue demon who is sexier than any human male she’s ever seen.

They have quiet the adventure together, along with her new keercat, Beans.

This novella ticked all the boxes for me in an alien romance! I love when the couple has to figure out how to communicate across a language barrier and grows to trust each other anyway, fated mates, running from bad guys, a cute alien pet, and surprise! Knots 🪢😉

I’m diving into the next book asap!

💙 “My dearest mate, I am yours for pleasure or amusement. Whatever you desire.”
~~~
I loved Frankie so much! She’s so brave, street-smart and caring. And I loved that she’s not afraid to take chances. Even more, I loved her resilience and her determination to survive in any situation. She’s so awesome!
Zol is a Zaarn mercenary. He might appear intimidating with his size, horns and tail, but he’s the most wonderful male. He’s strong, fierce, resourceful, protective, irresistibly charming and so honorable. And I absolutely adored him!
I loved everything that happened between Frankie and Zol! Zol is looking for a part for his spaceship and the last thing he expects is to sense his fated mate. From the moment they met, their attraction was undeniable. And, despite the language barrier, those two fit so well together. I loved Zol for his determination and resourcefulness to protect his mate and I absolutely adored him for being so patient and honorable. Frankie might have a lot of barriers around her heart, but the huge, horned alien managed to tear them all down with just being absolutely amazing. Even more, the passionate moments they shared were off-the-charts hot and filled with all the naughty goodness - knotting, mating heats, and one very, very special and naughty tail… 😏 I couldn’t get enough!
In addition, the worldbuilding is amazing! New aliens, new places, danger - I was hooked right from the start. And let’s not forget Beans! That kreecat is so adorable (and slightly dangerous) - the best pet ever!
Overall, Stolen by the Alien Rogue is a fantastic, fun and steamy introduction to the upcoming series! It’s filled with non-stop action, danger, suspense, scorching hot romance and wonderful characters.
I absolutely loved it and am super excited for the next stories!
I am probably just grumpy but I get soooo annoyed by books where the fmc acts like the male leads are all out to f*ck her. Seriously, this chick is on a foreign planet and has zero survival skills and she is constantly wary of the one guy willing to protect her because she thinks he'll f*ck her. I just don't buy it. It feels like old regency morals of propriety in a life or death context. She acts like were she to lower her guard an inch, the mmc would throw himself at her.
But beyond her being obsessed over protecting her virtue, I don't have much respect for a defensless woman who acts high and mightly when she is clearly in danger. It's cute when a toddler tries to attack someone larger, or when a Chihuahua growls at a Rottweiler, but it's stupid when it's an adult. What's the plan? They obviously always survive but its thanks to the help of others or luck so in truth, their survival was in spite of the risk they took, not thanks to it.
In this story, the mmc even recognizes the poor survival skills and lack of jugement.
Yes, why not insist on asking questions about the pups seen earlier when your life is currently in danger and time is of the essense. Seriously, the dude is telling her to hurry so he can take her to safety but instead of climbing his back like he suggested because she is njured and they can clearly hear threat approaching, she insists to ask about the wellbeing of pups they crossed previously... Again, what is the plan here? To know before you die ? Because that's what's going on.
I know as readers we tend to be more critical towards female leads but seriously here, not only do I not relate or particularly like her, I feel she is childish and I am annoyed that the mmc doesn't even care that she's a righteous idiot and likes her automatically. She just seemed dumb to me, her decisions and survival skills were dangerous she was just plain useless.
Zarex and Trinity's book happend on paralel with other books from this series. Here we finaly get to know what happend to the fiesty Trinity. She really puts a lot of figths but a Lone human females can't survive Alone in Vraxen's wilderness. Zarex doesn't know why but he feels like this females is his and he is actually very gentle with her. Excepto when in front if his men. He just can't show weeknesses and She is his. Trinity lies to try and save helself but it actually backfired and it could really be theire Downfall. It was a good story and I liked to see on the end how they were in the near future.
Zarex and Trinity are an interesting couple Zarex being more barbarian and Trinity being feisty.
These aliens really need to work together against the awful aliens running the planet. It alludes to this often in this book
This made me so happy. Was it a little ridiculous considering the speed with which these two get together? Maybe. But when you throw in things like 'soul breaths', kreecats, fated mates, and a wicked tail... you forgive those things. Besides, it was a short novella, so you expect things to move fast. And in spite of the speed, it still felt mostly believable. Well, as believable as spicy alien fiction romance is meant to be.
I really liked it. And even though this book doesn't really introduce any of the other characters in the series (they're mentioned in passing, but we don't actually see any of them), I do want to continue this series and read the rest of these spicy stories.
I read one of the books in the Fated Mates of the Varool series before. I kind of stopped after that one, but I might pick it back up after I read more of this series. Enemies-to-lovers has never been my favorite, and I think that series focuses more on that trope. But Krista Luna might convince me otherwise if I keep going, and this book alone makes me want to read more of her work.
The dropped star is literally mostly just for spelling/grammatical errors. There weren't enough to make it bad. Just enough to not be ignored. But I still thoroughly enjoyed this short little bit of spice, and can't wait to see these other Zaarns find their fated mates. Their soul's breath. Looking forward to it.
📖 **My Thoughts**
I think I got this free from Krista's newsletter, as it's not available on Amazon. That said, this prequel novella to her larger series of full-length books is just the teaser needed to whet my appetite for large blue aliens with horns and vibrating tails! FMC is a practical, fiesty little thing from the slums of Earth who wakes up from cryo not where she's supposed to be. MMC is just there to steal some parts when he comes across her and just *knows* she's for him. Que daring escape, including skimpy costumes (that the MMC has to wear this time, whoo boy) and an adorable telepathic cat thing for an animal sidekick. I loved this honestly, it's just good, dirty fun.
⚠️ **Triggers**
- Mentioned Past of Poverty, Hunger, Struggle, etc...
🌶️ **Spice**
Definitely fun to be had here, we've got knots, and a vibrating tail that secretes Heat inducing aphrodisiac. The consent here is really nice, as our MMC is determined to wait until his mate can understand him and consent before doing anything permanent.
This novella was exactly what I wanted and expected it to be. Stolen by the Alien Rogue delivers fated mates, instalove, and a fun sci-fi adventure between a human FMC and a demon-alien MMC, and it honestly made for a great first alien romance experience for me.
Zol is all confidence, and devotion, and I really enjoyed watching his connection with Frankie develop, even within the quick pacing. The fated mates bond is front and center, and while the romance moves fast, it still felt sincere. The story is open door and definitely steamy, but it balances the spice nicely with action and heart.
I would have loved more backstory for both characters. That said, I completely understand the limitations of a novella, and this felt like a strong introduction to the world. I’m confident we’ll get more depth and worldbuilding as the series continue (and I’m very excited to keep reading).
As always, I love the characters and worlds Krista Luna creates, and the animal companions are a huge win for me. Beans was an absolute highlight.
Overall, this was a fun, fast, and steamy read that left me eager for more from this series.
Stolen by the alien rogue is a sci-fi alien warrior romance written by Krista Luna. It's the prequel novella of the Fated Mates
of the Zaarn series.
This one is about Frankie a human, who had agreed to be sent to space with the promise of a better life. She was stolen by The Grug and kept in a cell. Zol, a Sun Goddess monk, was looking to steal replacements for Daredevil and he accidentally found his fated mate. After that, he forgot about his mission and only cared about Frankie. First, he had to secure they were safe, and then
mate her.
I loved this short story. It's the perfect beginning of the new series. It introduced us to the two main characters and their species. Most of the story was about those two escaping and towards the end how they mated. In this one, the alien looked like a devil and he sure could make the female wanna sin. My favorite part was the mating part for sure, it was hot.
I can't wait to see what happens next. I will rate it with 5 stars.
I finally started the Fated Mates of the Zaarn series and I’m so mad I waited this long. These books are freaking incredible! It’s such a fun series filled with action, spice, and tons of world building! The prequel, first book, and short story get ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me!
Book one, Claimed by the Alien Rogue, centers around Gravin and Cara. Gravin was banished from his planet at 20 due to not finding a fated mate. Destined to roam space alone, he joins the Daredevil as a warrior. During a mission, he ends up at a slave auction and comes across Cara, a human being sold as an exotic pet. His kron instantly activate… telling him that he found his fated mate.
Cara is a peacekeeper who volunteered to be put in cryo and shot across space to start a new life. What she didn’t expect was to wake up on an auction block. What’s even weirder is this blue demon like alien with the body of a god is insistent on rescuing her. And she’s feels this unnatural pull to let him.
Their escape leads them to hiding out in a forest where not even a language barrier can keep them from giving into their bond! Once they’re in the clear and can communicate, they embark on a mission to rescue the two women Cara was with when she woke up.
The prequel, Stolen by the Alien Rogue, actually takes place during book two (coming out soon)! It centers around Zol, another warrior who is on a trade planet looking for parts for his ship. What he ends up finding is an “exotic pet” named Frankie who ends up being his fated mate! Soon his hunt for ship parts turns into a fight to rescue his fated mate! There’s also a short story in the Monsters In Love Anthology called Owned by the Alien Rogue about Zol and Frankie!
This series is so much fun to read! I love all the lore behind the Zaarn and why the males are sent out to Roam. There’s also so much politics going on behind the scenes and it’s interesting to see how Krista has built up this universe and where she’s taking it.
These males are so SWEET! Once they have a fated mate they’re helplessly devoted to their women. And these girls are lucky! Vibrating tails that bring on a heat and a knot?! Sign me up!!
I love the world Krista Luna has created. Especially all the delicious aliens, like Zol. He’s attentive and protective. Especially when it comes to his fated mate, Frankie. While seeking a part for his spaceship, he senses his fated mate and rescues her from her cage. It’s only a matter of time before they find everything they ever wanted in each other’s arms. Frankie’s spunk and fun personality meshes perfectly with Zol’s enthusiastic nature. This story may be short, but there’s no shortage of steam and excitement. I can’t wait to see where this new series goes! Thank you to the author for gifting me this book in exchange for an honest review.
Claimed by the Alien Rogue is the first book of a new sci-fi alien romance series by @kristalunaauthor.
Gavin was banned from his planet and was trying to find parts for his ship when he sees his fated mate being auctioned. Cara is one of the human women sent to space to find a new planet and civilization. Her spaceship is intercepted and she is captured, sold and rescued all while lost in translation.
This is not only a thrilling beginning for a new series but also a page-turner that made me swoon every time he called her his soul's breath. Krista has not only written another book with an amazing world building and the most interesting characters but also gave us one more cute alien pet to fall in love with.
This is a short but steamy alien romance prequel. Frankie wakes up from cryosleep and finds herself in the midst of weird looking aliens and then she is caged. Fortunately she is saved by a hot alien named Zol and they have the adventure of a lifetime while trying to escape this planet run by a species called Grug. They have a help from a kreecat who becomes Frankie's protector. Zol calls her his mate and she agrees. Nice ending with a happily ever after.
This novella is a great intro to a new series. Recently released from cryostasis, human Frankie is discovered by Zol, an alien with creative business motives/connections thrust this story quickly into action. I liked the rich descriptions of the setting, characters, and even how interactions were portrayed. With a touch of humour and a insta-connection, this was a fun story to read.
"Always get them to underestimate you—your strength, your smarts, your everything."
This prequel does a really nice job of establishing the Universe, introducing the relevant cultures, and setting the stage for the series to come.
I read books 2 and 3 before coming back to discover how Frankie and All met, and it was so worth it.
Loved the plot and the characters. Loved the romance 😮‍💨. Really my only thing is there were quite a few typos that kept me from really getting into the story fully.
