The state wants to build a light rail through the heart of Pine Grove and through The Thomas Family Fruit and Fir Farm orchard! Not on Miss May's life they're not! A town meeting reveals a deeply divided town. On one side they have the mayor, Linda Delgado and architect Sudeer, who are all for the railroad. On the opposing side is Miss May, Teeny, Chelsea and ice cream seller Sam Cohen. When the architect of the plan, Alex Turbull, is murdered with a railroad spike, the ladies are pitted against Chief Flanagan once again. With Wayne out of the official investigation, he asks to team up with the ladies and solve this thing. Chelsea is thinking about taking her relationship with Wayne to the next level and doesn't hesitate to say yes but will Miss May and Teeny agree? Can they solve this murder before someone else is killed? Meanwhile, Teeny is stuck in a culinary rut she may never recover from. Oh no! Can Teeny get her mojo back before the railroad destroys Grandma's?
This is the best edited book of the series. FINALLY! I didn't notice any egregious errors and the continutity seemed to flow OK- except that I could have sworn Wayne asked Chelsea to go to Italy with him and here they aren't that serious. The plot is a little slow and meandering. I figured out whodunit right away and thought it was super obvious. It seems like the ladies were floundering without a clue here. They did something last they should have done first. They manage not to break too many laws here and the locals all know they are going to be under suspicion when Miss May and Chelsea come calling.
Chelsea has matured a bit since she returned to Pine Grove. She cries less but still babbles. She's unconsciously thinking about moving in with Wayne and they're an official couple now. Yet, she still doesn't feel ready to be tied down and bolts when she is confronted with something she isn't ready for. That seems a cheap way to set up for the crossover with the Dog Groomer mysteries though. Miss May is still loving to Chelsea and tough with her suspects. She is always a good friend to Teeny even when Teeny needs a bit of tough love. Teeny is crazy in this book. She feels her manu has gotten stale and it is making her cranky that she has culinary block, like writer's block for cooks. None of her dishes are anything I'd want to eat but Miss May's apple pie panini sounds up my alley and I'm going to make one ASAP! I like Wayne much better now he's stopped being sexist and super cop. He's nicer and more relaxed about the rules. Plus he's Italian and knows how to eat!
Alex Turbull was a slimeball. He lied, cheated and cut through red tape to get what he wanted. He enjoyed making people miserable and stepping on the little guy. Out of all the characters in this novel, he's the one who deserved to be murdered. It was only a matter of time. He has two people on his side who don't think he's a weasel. His wife, who is obligated to defend him against namecalling and accusations and his business associate, Kelly Washington. Ms. Washington is assisting with the project and motivated for it to go through. She's probably the one doing all the work. Would she murder her associate to get to the top? She strikes me as the top who might do just that. Either that or sleep her way to the top. Jamie Turnbull seems like she's a downtrodden wife at first but then they learn she's a successful businesswoman. Perhaps she's both? She doesn't fit the profile of the murder based on the clues so far but Chelsea points out a few reasons why she might have done it. Another suspect is Wanda Go. She was at the town hall meeting but didn't speak out. She has a very good reason to want Turnbull dead and she seems to fit the clues. Plus she tries to run away from the super sleuths, thus making her look guilty.
The locals are clearly innocent of murder except maybe Mayor Delgado. She's one of the only people to support the railroad project. I thought it sounded like a great idea until I learned it would cut through the orchard. Can the state really take private property that is being used as a successful business? Mayor Delgado has shown herself to be a forceful personality and a woman who cares about image more than the people. She even makes her husband miserable. The poor guy eats his feelings and it sounds like he's been doing that a lot lately. I feel sorry for him, especially for what happened in the past but I don't think he has it in him to murder Turnbull. Why now?
Sam Cohen is another sad sack. He loves selling ice cream from his shack but the railroad would go through his stand. Sure he could move but he's in a prime location and moving takes time and money. Would he really murder Turnbull to stop the project? I think that wouldn't work. It might delay things but not stop it, not if this is a state government plan. Patrick Ewing is Sam's best friend and it sure sounds like he's lying about Sam's alibi for the night of the murder. Miss May sees right through it but I didn't pick up on that at all. He's an interesting person. He comes out all cheerful and friendly but then he lies. What does he have to hide? Does he suspect his friend? I don't trust him after the two spoke on the phone before AND after Miss May's interrogation.
I'm glad I read this and am looking forward to the next one. Way to end a book on a cliffhanger!
Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny attend a town meeting regarding light rail -- Alex Turnbull wants to run it through the town -- and right through Miss May's apple orchard, so naturally she's against it, along with most of the other people in the room. Surprisingly, the mayor is for it, and they want to know why. Later that evening Turnbull is in Teeny's restaurant and insults her food and her coffee, which leads to a public fight with the man. But before they can make a plan to save the town, the next night Chelsea and Miss May and Chelsea come across an abandoned car and enter the woods, only to find the body of Turnbull stabbed with a railroad spike.
Now they have suspects on their hands, and are once again thrust into a murder investigation. When they start looking for clues, they come across unexpected ones, surprising ones, and intriguing ones. None of which lead them to a killer; but it does lead them to another viable suspect. Unfortunately, there's another murder before they can find the killer, and now it's a matter of timing in order to save someone else from being a victim...
I have to say that I absolutely love this series. It is well written, the mysteries are well thought out, and there is no dearth of suspects. Then there's the banter between the three women, which is also quite hilarious at times. Poor Chelsea has a mouth that says unexpected things when she gets nervous (but she's working on it); Teeny's mouth is never under control (she's not working on it); and Miss May is the sane voice of reason (although it doesn't matter because Chelsea and Teeny aren't changing any time soon). Together they make great sleuths and a humorous trio. I especially love Teeny's obsession with television series as she applies them to the latest investigation. (Never right, but still oddly strange).
When they begin investigating, they are surprised to find an unexpected victim in their home town that puts more than one person on the list. Meanwhile, Chelsea's cop boyfriend Wayne is trying to move their relationship ahead, wanting her to meet his parents, and she starts panicking inside, not sure if she's ready, but also not willing to say no. It's interesting to watch her thought process; while I understand her hesitancy, I also hope she'll be able to move forward in her life soon. Ah, well...
When the investigation begins heating up, they begin narrowing down their list of suspects, and at last they know they have the right person. I have to say that I knew who it was long before our detecting trio, but then again I read a lot of mysteries, so there's that. To most everyone, it will come as a surprise, and I have to say that while I knew the killer, I did not know the reason, and that's half the solution.
When it all comes together, the reasons for the murder are understood (even if there's no excuse for killing another human being); and watching the climax is always a lot of fun. While this book can easily be read as a standalone, I suggest you start with the beginning, if for nothing but having fun while you read. Highly recommended.
I received an advance copy from the author and BookSprout but this in no way influenced my review.
This is book fifteen of the Apple Orchard Cozy Mystery series and something new is coming to Pine Grove. A new light rail service is being planned and will be coming right through parts of Pine Grove, including some of the shops and also a large swath of the apple orchards that belong to Miss May and Chelsea Thomas. There is a meeting at the local town hall and loads of people attend, but with Miss May misplacing her car keys somewhere, they aren’t as early as their friend and fellow sleuth Teeny would like. There hasn’t been a murder in town for over a month and Miss May and Chelsea are in their really busy time at the orchard right now, so hoping nothing bad will happen, but I think they jinxed it! The man who should have been dealing with the townsfolks complaints or questions, doesn’t bother turning up to the meeting, leaving his subordinate to take over at the last minute. There are some surprising supporters for the light rail scheme but also some that are very vocal in their hatred for the idea and the fact that eminent domain would be used to forcibly purchase the land or properties in its path! When Teeny finds the man eating in her restaurant and being obnoxious to her staff and making derisory comments about her food, she throws him out. The next time they see him, he is dead! Someone clearly didn’t like him or his plans for the town it seems and made it quite plain in the manner of his death. Chelsea’s romance with Detective Wayne Hudson has been moving on steadily, but she has also gotten a sudden urge to go somewhere other than Pine Grove and to experience a trip somewhere. Would her relationship with Wayne survive? Miss May has been making comments about the house being too big for her, so what would happen if Chelsea moved in with Wayne, which would be a logical next step! When he asks her to come and meet his family over dinner at Halloween, she hesitates and isn’t quite herself in her answer. She hasn’t had a great track record with relationships or with meeting the parents and worries what it will do to theirs. He asks to join them in their investigation of this latest murder, as apparently the Police Chief Sunshine Flannigan wants to work on the case by herself this time! Teeny has lost her cooking mojo in the midst of all this and Miss May and Chelsea have to support her in finding her confidence again, whilst trying to track down the killer, before they strike again. A potential suspect turned possible witness is killed before they can question them again, but the ladies will find the killer, no matter what. The story ends with a new murder in town, so the amateur sleuths are back to being busier than ever in their attempts to keep their small town safe. I loved the new apple pie Panini idea, sounds lovely! I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
Can Miss May, Chelsea and Teeny stop a railroad from going through Pine Grove and the middle of businesses including the middle of Miss May's Apple Orchard which has been in the family for ages AND at the same time solve a grizzly murder? Politically backed Turnbull is set on putting the railroad through the town whether it affects the viability of the town or not! He doesn't show up to the town meeting to answer questions, his overworked worker tries to explain what they will be doing. Turnbull didn't even show up at the meeting. When Teeny, Miss May and Chelsea go back to Teeny's restaurant they run into Turnbull who was mean and obnoxious condemning Teeny's food until her worker, Petey not so nicely escorts him out. This gets to Teeny who loses her confidence in her menu. When Miss May, Chelsea and Teeny decide to take the long way back to the Apple Orchard, they come upon a car off the road with the driver missing. When they walk off the road looking for the driver, they find him. It is Turnbull with dead with a railroad spike in his back. So the three amateur sleuths have a murder to solve although they face numerous suspects who definitely could have done it! Will they figure it out? Add to this and you have a very nervous Chelsea because her hot officer Wayne wants her to come with him to his parents for their annual Halloween party. But although she loves Wayne, she is uncertain about meeting his parents and solidifying their relationship even more. Is she ready? Will she make excuses? Will she go? And add poor Teeny who's confidence in her recipes has hit bottom as she tries to make up some new ones that also don't go well. Will the railroad go through the town? This is the 15th Book in an incredibly fun series with characters you become friends with! This is a great series and highly recommended. I received an ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
I enjoyed this cozy mystery. This is book 15 in the series and I have read a few books but not necessarily in the right order, so I can safely say that you can pick up any book in the series and easily follow along, enjoy a good mystery and be entertained by some wacky characters. I like the characters, even Teeny who's bull in a China shop approach is sometimes a little bit of putting, is entertaining this time around and I was rooting for her to break out of her creativity slump. The mystery was interesting with a number of possible suspects and to be honest I had forgotten who eventually turned out to be the killer, as there was so many possible candidates. A fun cozy that the author's had a lot of fun writing and this showed as the main characters worked out not only the murder but also a creativity block. Good job the author's don't suffer with the same problem. With the news that a train track is coming to town, even straight through a number of business, Teeny is suffering from a creativity block that could put her cafe out of business before it is even approved. Then the man spearheading the project is found dead with one of his own memorabilia track spikes in his back. With most of the town opposed to the plans the suspect list is long even Miss May is arrested as a suspect. Can Miss May and Chelsea find the real killer? But did somebody want to kill the train plans or the man himself? And will Teeny ever come out of her cooking slump long enough to help?
I really enjoy reading this series, Miss May, Teeny, and Chelsea make an adorable trio of sleuths that tend to solve all the murder cases that happen in their city. In this story, they'll fight against the light railway that is supposed to cross town and end some establishments as well as cut the apple orchard. The responsible for the railway is murdered and the whole town is placed under suspicion, especially those who were against the project. Will they be able to solve the case? How will they interact with the Police force? Teeny is having a breakdown/meltdown and is unable to introduce innovations to her menu, will she overcome this problem? Who is the murderer - is he/she from town or an outsider? The end of this story is unexpected and a great teaser for the next one. Whisking Everything is easy to read, has humor, and provides good entertainment. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

What looks like a perfect New England fall takes a turn for the worse when the body is discovered. Can our heroine and her crew solve this mystery while juggling the rest of life, or is this a quick descent into a winter of discontent?
This is book fifteen in the series, but it is written as a standalone. All the essentials are covered early on.
This is a clean cozy mystery filled with plenty of humor and all the little elements you would expect from a cozy mystery. If you are looking for a gritty realistic action book with hot romance, this is not it. But if you like small towns, interesting characters and the occasional witty banter, this one should do the trick.
The story is well written with an easy to follow plot, but that does not mean an easy to solve mystery. There are enough twists and turns during the investigation to keep the reader guessing until the end and only a little bit of drama. Overall it was a pleasant and relaxing read.
Highly recommended. . I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout for review purposes.
In the latest Apple Orchard Cozy Mystery, it seems everyone in Pine Grove is a suspect. A proposed light rail would open up Pine Grove to more tourists, but it would also destroy several local businesses including cutting through Miss May’s beloved orchard. When the developer is found dead alongside the road it is up to Chelsea, Miss May, and Teeny to find the real killer before one of their own is locked up for the murder. Chelsea teams up with boyfriend, Detective Wayne Hudson, sharing information to find the killer. In addition to solving the murder Teeny feels her menu at her restaurant needs a new dish, but she is in a slump and can’t come up with anything. While Teeny is in the slump Miss May adds delicious Apple Paninis to the orchard’s bakery menu. Another great addition to the series that keeps you guessing and laughing.

Teeny seems to be in a slump with her creative culinary mind not coming up with any new menu ideas for Grandma’s diner. It’s put her in a funk. Add on that a state representative has come into town pushing for a light rail to be added to the town impacting a lot of small business as well as a portion of the apple orchard.
Of course, Miss May and Chelsea are the first to find another dead body. Working alongside Wayne this time, Chelsea and the girls search for clues and interrogate witnesses. Since they have solved so many murders, the folks they investigate are on to them when they arrive ready to ask questions.
I love reading about these characters, both human and animals. Love the conversations Chelsea has with See Saw!

Whisking Everything is book #15 in Apple Orchard Cozy Mystery Series and it can be read as a standalone.
Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny are team up again to solve the murder of Alex Turnbull, a mean and unlikable man who wanted to put the railroad through the town of Pine Grove and right through Miss May's apple orchard. Beside being busy investigating the murder and catch the killer Chelsea also has to deal with the heart issue with the hot cop to decide if she is ready for the next step in their relationship or not.
This book is a fun, enjoyable cozy mystery with delightful characters, a fast-paced read that is very entertaining, full of humor, mystery and romance. I am looking forward to read the next books in the series.

When a light rail is introduced to Pine Grove no one is happy Especially Miss May as they r going to take half her land! When the representative doesn’t show at the town meeting things get tense. On the way home Miss May and Chelsea discover his body. Since he was horrible person the suspects are many. Miss May, Chelsea and Teeny are also on the case. Surprisingly Wayne joins the team! I love this book and series! Teeny is hilarious! Chelsea is always stress and MissMay brings calm and knowledge to the team! This book has everything: drama, mystery, action, deception and humor ! I highly recommend this book and this series for a fun light read!

I love the camaraderie of Miss May, Chelsea & Teeny; they are so entertaining while still investigating murders in their little town. When eminent domain from the railroad threatens several businesses, including Miss May' s Apple orchard, there is a town meeting & after Chelsea & Miss May find the person in charge of the project dead. Needless to say, the trio work with Chelsea' s boyfriend cop to solve the murder. The ups & downs of the case keeps you on your toes until the end. And at e celebration of solving the murder, another body is found at Grandmas, Teeny' s diner. Can't wait for the nextt mystery to solved!

The small town of Pine Grove gathers to hear about the new light rail that is coming to their town. A few of the residents think it is time to move forward with this proposed venture bringing visitors to their community and boosting their economy. Many of the folks love the small town atmosphere and don't want the government seizing their property through eminent domain.
As you might guess, murder is just around the corner. Miss May, Chelsea and Teeny must rush to find the killer before more lives are lost.
I love the way Chelsea Thomas twists words into cute puns like the title of chapter 7: Take the Long Wayne Home. She makes me smile and often laugh at her humor.

Alex Turnball, a state employee, wants to run a light rail train through the middle of Miss May's Orchard and the middle of town. There is a town hall meeting, where most of the town is against the train. The next thing you know Alex Turnball's car is found along the road and his body is found with a railroad spike sticking out of his back. Miss May, Teeny, and Chelsea track down clues, follow leads, and piece together the mystery; all while Miss May deals with the busy orchard, Teeny deals with a slump in ideas for the restaurant and Chelsea plans a road trip. Enjoy this cozy mystery while following Chelsea, Miss May, and Teeny solve the case. Another fun visit with friends at the orchard.
The Apple Orchard Cozy mysteries are so much fun to read. Chelsea, Miss May, Teeny, and Detective Wayne Hudson are such interesting characters and the author describes them so well that you feel like you know them! In this installment, there is a proposal for a light rail to run through Pine Grove. This idea is not advantageous to the Thomas Family Fruit and Fir Farm! The person behind the proposal is Alex Turnbull. The same Alex Turnbull who Chelsea and Miss May find face down in the forest with a railroad spike protruding from his back! So the three super sleuths get to work questioning suspects. This book ends on a cliff hanger--a death that'll need to be solved in book 16. This series continues to be really entertaining.
Chelsea, Miss May, and Teeny are back again! When the apple orchard and many of the businesses in Pine Grove are threatened by a proposed light rail line, everybody in town is up in arms. After a very heated public meeting on the project, Alex Turnbull, who is heading up the project, is found dead. Just about everyone in town had motive, not to mention all of the people surrounding Alex in New York City. The ladies have their hands full trying to figure this one out! With a hefty sprinkling of humor and a sweet touch of romance, you won’t want to put this one down. This may just be the best one of the series yet!
Whisking Everything is the 15th book in the Apple Orchard Cozy series by Chelsea Thomas.
There is a threat of a light rail coming to Pine Grove which would cut through the orchard as well as taking out some local businesses. The man in charge is killed and Miss May, Teeny, and Chelsea jump in to solve the murder and keep Pine Grove safe.
As always, this is entertaining mystery with the ladies taking road trips, accusing locals, and Teeny eating sprinkles. This was a fun, quick read and I look forward to reading the next book!

Teeny is a mad genius with her homespun culinary concoctions- and she has hit a slump. an all gruel, all day kinda slump. some efforts to recover are epically awful. can she get her cooking groove back?
Chelsea seems to be getting along well with Detective Wayne. how badly will she panic when she realizes that?
a state legislative bully wants to push forward a project that will destroy several town businesses and cost Chelsea and May half their orchards. what will fall prey to politics, greed and vengeance?
another wild and wacky time in Pine Grove.

Another great addition to this series where once again Chelsea, Teeny and Miss May are on the hunt for a killer who to be fair could be pretty much anyone as as the victim aka Turnball wanted to basically ruin Pine Grove, but also we are at the turning point for Chelsea and Wayne's relationship and if there isn't enough anxiety over whether Chelsea will risk her heart again Teeny is having a crisis of her own. I just love these three ladies so much and the unintentional funny situations they get it in to while being determined to solve the cases all while living their best lives!

I received this as part of a box set from Booksprout: This is my honest review.
This offering is about an unpopular developer of a light rail system in Pine Grove who is killed with a railroad spike. Teeny, Miss May, and Chelsea solve the case, but Teeny is having a cooking crisis. She's in a slump because she can't come up with unique dishes...until the end of the book. Also, Chelsea is having wanderlust, and has plotted a trip to California,..except, when the end of the mystery party is held at Teeny's a dead body shows up in the back room...I recommend the book and the series. Be warned, however, that you may become hungry while reading these...I do!
Every book in this series gets better than the last and I loved them from book 1! This book is full of intrigue and laughs, a misleading clue, and plenty of good clean fun! Will Teeney ever get over her creative block? Will this be the case the ladies can’t solve? I’m not going to give any spoilers, but read this book! It’s really that good! And Chelsea does some growing up, too! I love it when an author has room for character growth!

Who knew eminent domain could lead to murder? Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny are thrust into investigating another murder in Pine Grove. There are plenty of suspects in the murder and Miss May could be one of them if they don’t quickly find the true killer.
The characters in this series are fun and a bit quirky. The story is well written and entertaining. The mystery is interesting and keeps you engaged until the conclusion. Another solid addition to this cozy series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
When a light rail is planned to go through Pine Grove including Miss May's orchard via eminent domain, it is an understatement that the townspeople aren't happy about it. However, when the perpetrator ends up dead, it is up to Chelsea, Teeny, and Miss May to figure out if someone in their town is capable of murder or was the motive something even more sinister.
Each edition solidifies that bond between the three ladies and those they love.

Teeny, Chelsea and Miss May are like the rest of Pone Grove concerned about tue railroad that is planned to come through town that will cause a lot of business to close when the state take s property . Little did they know this would lead to nor 1 but 2 murder investigations. Once again the girls solved not one but 2 murders. They also shared information with Wayne during this investigation. This is a great addition to the series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Chelsea, May & Teeny solve the mystery. The girls once again solve the crime before the Sheriff & Detective. This time Chelsea has her Detective boyfriend in her corner. Witty writing with enough twists to keep you guessing. Big city forces are spreading their big city ways to force fast rail to Pine Cove even without the wishes of the town. Interesting as all I’d the stories in this series. Will Chelsea really relocate?
I have followed along with this series from the beginning and I just love this next installment. Not only do we get to follow the ladies through solving another murder, but we also see deeper into Chelsea & Wayne’s relationship, and I love the side story of Teeny’s recipe block fiasco. I won’t give away the ending but I will say it’s surprising- I am definitely ready for the next book!

This is a new addition to this cozy series. It has been a while since we have visited Pine Grove. I'm happy to say that the characters are as sassy as ever. This book combines humor, a smidge of romance, and a murder victim. It's a recipe for success.

She was getting more relaxed the more time she spends in this town, she has even solved a few mysteries. A dead body appears and she will soon be pulled into another murder mystery. What will happen this time? Can she solve it this time? How will she get on? See just how she gets on

All is well in Pine Grove, until plans are made to run a railroad right through the quiet little town. And then there’s the murder. There is no actual cliffhanger, but the end of the book hints at the next case. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next one. I received a complimentary copy of this book and chose to write a voluntary, unbiased review.
