NOTE : This summary wasn't written with the intention of replacing the original book, rather it was made to act as a guide for you to enjoy and understand the original book.
11/23 bro I was so so utterly disconnected from these characters and the book in general it’s not even funny now it could have been because I was practically asleep for the first 5 to 6 chapters, but it didn’t get better after that it’s not like it grabbed my attention once I did wake up, I just did not connect with it at all not one bit and it confused me a lot going back-and-forth in the timeline that confused me now will I probably still watch the show or movie? I don’t know what it’s becoming, probably I understood it enough to watch it but yeah I just I wasn’t with it at all any bit of it I don’t know. There’s just something about her books that I just don’t connect with, probably an unpopular opinion, but I don’t really care. I’m just glad it’s over.
I added this summary to count as my re-read, what do I think now?
it’s horrible, some banters were funny, but it’s even worse than the first time (two years ago), what’s with the puppy face (second hand embarrassment), and is E.H incapable of writing a woman’s personality that doesn’t revolve around her being short and tiny?
The second star was given bc I actually laughed at some parts, however some jokes were stretched and long and very pretentious, the revelation part took ages -unnecessarily-, and I cringed so hard, that was a very hard one, but thankfully short.
Okay, so. This took me longer than usual to read a 300 page book, I felt as if it was slow going but once I got about half way through it really started to pick up and I got into it. I began to read this summer of ‘25 but didn’t get too far because I got bored. I restarted it because I’ve had it for a couple years and hadn’t gotten around to reading it. I enjoyed it in the long run and I encourage you to stick it out for a really cute love story. I plan on watching the movie today and the actors look pretty similar to what I would imagine they looked like from the book!
Cute and easy read, typical of other Emily Henry’s books that just feel like a warm hug. However I wasn’t that convinced about this love story. Felt frustrated at the end there wasn’t any real resolution to their problems other than just “figuring it out.” Not confident the relationship was actually a good idea or would last haha. Not my most favorite out of the other Emily Henry books I have read.
I personally enjoyed this book, although it did receive some mixed reviews from our book club.
I enjoyed the time jump and it was very interesting to see how friendships/relationships developed over time.
Writing style is enjoyable and the characters are relatable. If you want a sweet and semi short romantic book, this book is fits that bill and its a short read!
I actually loved this book. Maybe it was bc it was a quick beach read and I needed something easy since the kids were with me, but I really enjoyed this one!
It was cute , took me months to read because I could t get into it but I’m not one to start something and not finish. I loved the ending however it felt like it was too dragged on.
