When Michaela ‘Tech Goddess’ Karras went to work for Shepherd Security, she closed the door on her past life and everyone in it. It is a life that haunts her, a past she has kept secret from most. She was a loner, a natural beauty who hid behind a standoffish tomboy persona. She kept to herself until Angel joined the agency and they became close friends. Her circle at the agency grew over the years and she now has a life she loves, a life she never dreamed possible before joining Shepherd Security. And that is all thanks to Sam ‘Big Bear’ Shepherd. He knows her past. He saved her from it. He is one of the few people that Michaela trusts. Landon ‘Lambchop’ Johnson, one of Shepherd’s men, is another. They became friends. For years, he accepted her insistence that they would remain just friends, even though Michaela knew he had stronger feelings for her. That changed when a group trip put them together on a romantic beach where the fact that their relationship had deepened could no longer be ignored. When her past invades her present, she realizes she must confront her ghosts so they will not threaten her future with Landon. But as the team mental health professional, Joe Lassiter, has warned her, old patterns of coping are easy to fall back into. Michaela finds herself alone and in trouble. She knows Landon and Shepherd can help her, but that help will require that she have the most trust she has ever had in another. But the question is, will they trust her again when it’s over? She’s not so sure. Shepherd Security recruits only the best. They can protect someone in trouble like no other because they work in the shadows, invisible, and outside the system where the rules don’t apply–just the oath they took. They don’t exist. That’s also why they can break any suspect and can get answers out of anyone accused. That’s when they’re called in, when someone must be protected at all costs, or when answers must be obtained, by any means necessary.
Warning, this story is realistic, with adult language and content on the way to the HEA. This is book 10 in the Shepherd Security Series. Even though the story does continue from book to book, each is a stand-alone story except for this installment of the series. Book #8, Operation Beach Angel, and Book #9, Operation Healing Angel should be read before this book to fully understand the story in this book. Overall, the entire series is best enjoyed in order.
Margaret Kay is a wife, a mother of two adult children, a grandmother, a pet lover who makes her own dog food from scratch, and a writer of Military Romance Novels.
Margaret's husband proudly served 8 years in the United States Navy. She's a veteran of more than a few deployments as the spouse who took care of the family while her military member served halfway around the world.
Margaret has given us a bit of everything to make this a page turner. There is action, suspense, drama, danger, tension, angst, emotions, secrets, and a hell of a lot more. Twists and turns abound that you don’t see coming.
The action starts right from the beginning and keeps on coming. It is also a bit of a rollercoaster ride, but this is one series you will get addicted too. It did take me a while to get into the story and used to Margarets storytelling but once I did it is easy to enjoy the stories.
Make sure to start at the beginning as characters do cross over. The stories are told through multiple POV’s as you really get inside the characters heads and know what they are thinking and learn who they are better. These wonderful characters are well written, complex, and fully realised. These alpha men and women are saviours and will do anything to protect those who they love and those who need it to fight against evil and those who wrong others.
There is religious overtones which often had me wondering if I would continue, and the sexual references are left more to the imagination, but the stories soon outweighed all that.
Loved the whole Shepard series and characters. Got to feel so real . Can’t find #11 yet but we are in Australia. Summer just started. Tried to finish a book a day but fell asleep at 3am. Thank you for such fun and adventure fiction. Need to hide from real life!
This read navigates the romance and closes off family issues raised in Operation: Beach Angel for brilliant engineer, Michaela Karras and Shepherd operative Landon ‘Lambchop’ Johnson. Michaela’s juvenile and adult traumas haunt her until she’s driven to act while Lambchop’s family issues are resolved as another re-settling is necessary.
During Michaela’s self-discovery, she catches the attentions of a nefarious, international criminal that decides he has a purpose for Michaela and almost kidnaps her. After a call to Lambchop, the team is at her side as quickly as the plane can get them they and they quickly realize its more than a botched kidnapping by a near untouchable criminal with far reaching protective ties and get to work.
To my taste, the ‘case’ portion of the outing was very good but I didn’t enjoy the manipulative bookends of it. Also, the ending didn’t quite appeal, though it was quite appropriate given the givens (Lambchop), they both affected the rating. Rating: 4stars
Michaela and Landon: the truly wonderful story they deserve
This is perhaps the most emotionally complex story of this series. I laughed, cried, felt Michael's emotions as if I am her best friend. Michaela goes to Greece to face her father and the reason for her fear of trusting another person. Things go side wise and the Shepherd Group comes to both her rescue and to dive deep into the problems surrounding her and her family.
Lamb chop, aka Landon, displays how this gentle giant lives the words he has spoken to others and lets his trust in God and the woman he loves shine. I loved this book from Alpha to Zulu.
The story gives us more information on Michaela and her family. She came from an abusive home where she was hit by her father and brother. When Sam Shepherd offered her a job she took it and ran. She has not seen or heard from her father or brother since then. She fell in love with Landon but felt she needed closure . So she goes to Greece without anyone knowing where she is. Michaela finds herself in trouble and calls Landon. He comes with Sam and the team to help her. This story had me laughing and crying. It showed us who Michaela is and why she had trust issues especially with men. The series is a definite to read, but read them in order.
I've been waiting for Lambchop's story for quite awhile. To me it was amazing how Margaret Kay has always portrayed Lambchop with God's Grace and Glory during times throughout this series. When you read some of the atrocious things that go on, I found I at least was comforted by waiting for Lambchop's part of the story. They say the best is yet to come. Well Margaret Kay, thank you for a truly fantastic story and the best has arrived. I am really looking forward to your next story.
Another great addition to the Shepherd Security series.
In this book we learn a lot about Michaela’s past, and what makes her the Tech Goddess at Shepherd Security. We also get the resolution to the romance between Michaela and Lambchop that started in Book 8 (Beach Angel).
I recommend reading the entire series in order, but definitely need to read book 8 before this one. They are all available on Kindle Unlimited
This is another good book in this series. It was one part of it I wasn't thrilled with. I'm not going to say too much other than to say that for anybody who has a very high iq, it has a lot of common sense and Street smarts, to be so stupid it's hard to understand. It made the story what it was. But it was a very good read and the plot was good and the tension was great.
There was only one book in the series prior to this that I would recommend skipping. It was the book about Doc and Elizabeth. That was more about religion than plot. However, I’m completely over the Bible verses and paragraphs about god’s perfect plan. There are 5 more books in the series. Despite mostly interesting plots and characters, I cannot handle any more being preached at. I don’t think I’ll ever finish this series.
As always with any of her books Margaret Kay didn’t disappoint with Lambchop and Michaela’s book. This story was very well written and held my interest. This was a great was to continue the saga of Shepard Security. I can’t wait for the next book to come out. Well done Margaret Kay thank you.
This was a fantastic story, and a great addition to the series. I'm happy that these two finally got the HEA they both deserved, even if they had to go through a lot to get there. I'm looking forward to reading more from this series. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.
At last poor Lambchop gets his HEA and we find out just why Michaela is so skittish. This book makes you cry as much as smile but I loved the way Michaela was able to resolve her family issues. I felt terribly sorry for Shereese’s children having to come to terms with moving and then losing their mum. Great story, bring on the next one!
I liked the subject matter in this book. Families are always complicated and there was a lot of good advice in this book. Of course, the intrigue going on in the backstory didn’t hurt either. There are always a few surprises along the way to keep things interesting. This series is a winner.
We get the rest of Landon and Michaela’s story and it is soooo good! I didn’t want to put it down so I didn’t…I read all night lol. This book includes Michaela removing her tracker and heading to Greece to confront her abusive father, some funerals, baptizing of babies, a new addition, action, suspense, healing and steam. Y’all really need to read this one.
This book was!! I had a hard time putting it down so I could sleep!! I think this series is AMAZING! I'm so ready for the next 10 books!! Thank you Margaret Kay you are amazing!!!
I truly enjoyed reading this book it was full of action, sexy, loving, and mysterious! I would definitely recommend this book to read! It was well worth the wait.👏🏾👏🏾🤗🤗
I chose my rating became this series is one of my most enjoyed series to date!! I could hardly wait for Trusted Angel to be available. I wait with bated breath for # 11!!
I have read all of this series up to this point and like all the preceding books this one was another hit. I liked the twist of Landon not only being a soldier but also a pastor.
All of the books in this series have led to hours of good entertainment. Well written characters, the continuous action and the smooth flow of the writing just suck you right into the story.
Lambchop has loved Michaela for years. She was trouble trusting men since she was abused by both her father and brother. So she decided to go to Greece and try to heal the wounds between her father and brother. Now she is there and her brother is in real trouble.
Love these stories! Each book is like coming home to family. Can't wait for the next book! May have to start the series over again, I enjoy them so much!
