אני אוהבת מאוד את הפרשנויות של יוכי ברנדס לתנ"ך. הן תמיד מקוריות ומעניינות, וכך גם הספר הזה. ברנדס מתארת את השינוי בדמותו של אלוהים בתנ"ך, ומדגימה זאת באמצעות שבעה סיפורים על דמויות בתנ"ך שגרמו לשינוי הזה: חווה, קין, נוח, אברהם, משה, אליהו, יונה. היה מחכים, מעניין ומהנה לקרוא. מקורי ופותח ומפתח את המחשבה.

I like books by Yochi Brandes.
She gives me a perspective on the Tanah (old testament bible) which I find unique.
The Tanakh is a hard book to read. That is one of the reasons it has so many interpretations (many times contradicting ones). The Hebrew of the Tanahn is an old fashioned one, it has an inconsistent story telling style (even within the same story), it sometimes presents dry tedious details, and sometimes omits details. On top of that, I personally struggle with an aversion from all forms of religion which makes it hard for me to read stories from non dead faiths.
Yohi combines modern biblical criticism, with different tradition's interpretations by Chazal, bringing sometimes even antisematic interpretation. And she threads them into a single compelling story. An interpretive story in some of her books (including this one), and partially speculative and enriching in some of her other books. I think she had a religious upbringing, I am not sure what her faith is now, and think it doesn't matter. Yochi retained a deep love of the biblical stories and it shows and enriches her storytelling.
In this book Yochi Brandes describes the different stages of god. From the time god was young (as is the title of the book), in the earlier parts of the bible, till the later stories and representations of god in his more modern interpretations. A different way to look at it is that she describes the perception of Judaism changing among the Jewish scholars writing the different parts of the bible, each one at his time period. (or capturing the word of god on paper :) ).
Yochi describes the different revolutions that occured to god as he met the characters of Eve, Cain, Noah, Moses, Elijah, Yona, etc. She chose to present stories throughout the bible most of which if not all of them I think I knew, but she threaded a connecting line between them and told them in a more accessible and clear way.

כמיטב מסורתה, יוכי מעלה רעיונות מקוררים, מעוררת מחשבה במקומות ״שכוחים״ ומחברת קווים בין אלמנטים לכאורה נפרדים. ובמקביל / באמצעות אלו מרחיבה את הסהת ואהבת התנ״ך. אני מודה שאני מעדיף את ספריה הסיפוריים ( מלכים ג׳, והפרדס של עקיבא הם באמת פאר היצירה!) על פני ספריה ה״לימודיים״, אבל. גם אלו - בהחלט - שווים קריאה, מעניינים ומעוררי מחשבה. תודה!
