All is well within the safe walls of the Empire, where Mods rule and Humans serve. But outside the walls, Rogue terrorists are planning something far more sinister than their usual violent attacks against the Empire. When Zade Serafin's brother, Sam, is kidnapped by the Rogues, it's not just his life at stake. Her family, her reputation, and the dark secret behind her origins is all suddenly at risk.

Zade has been raised to fear the Rogues. But as she is thrust unwillingly into their midst to find and rescue Sam, she realizes that the Empire has been feeding the Mods lies for decades – maybe even centuries.

Caught up in a silent war in the Exterior, Zade must decide whether to put her faith in her enemy or risk capture by the deadly forces of the Empire. As the line between friend and enemy blurs, Zade has to decide who she's willing to betray to get her life back.

Danielle Mohr is an indie author with a rebellious spirit and independent mindset. She got tired of working various jobs and built her own copywriting business at the age of 25. She also highly enjoyed earning a Bachelor of Arts degree with Great Distinction from Athabasca University and is currently working toward a Master of Arts in Integrated Studies.

Since the day she was six years old and her mom brought her a few pieces of paper stapled down the centre and told her to write a book, Danielle has imagined holding her own published book in her hands. She expected that the novelty would wear off once it actually happened, but luckily for her readers she was quite wrong.

Alberta-born and raised, Danielle enjoys an introverted country life with her two dogs, Milo and Presley. When she isn't working in her gardens or sitting on her front porch with a cup of tea and a great book, you can probably find her spending time with family and friends.

"Drift" is a thrilling escape and exciting journey that I have not experienced since reading "Divergent" or the "Hunger Games". Danielle's vivid descriptions transported me from my couch into the wonderous and dangerous Empire and mysterious world beyond. Her writing is rich with detail without making the plot slow down, allowing the reader to absorb and imagine the surroundings without drifting off. Some of the action scenes were intense enough to get my heart racing, without the excessive gore and violence so many other YA sci-fi and fantasy novels feature.

I highly recommend this book to fans of sci-fi, social justice, and political thrillers.

DRIFT is a riveting debut novel that gripped me right from the start. It’s an absolute thrill ride with seamless world building and an intriguing and complex cast of characters. I loved the evolution of Zade's character, the unfolding truths about the Mods and the Rogues, and the mystery surrounding Zade's father and missing brother. Fans of Hunger Games and Divergent will love this book!

If I’m going to be completely honest, I was a little skeptical about how much I would enjoy this book. How would it compare to some of the infamous YA fiction such as Hunger Games or Divergent. I was more than pleasantly surprised.

From the first page to the very end, I couldn’t put it down! The main character is scrappy and resilient. A perfect heroine caricature.

The story was fast paced and kept me wondering what would happen next. In fact, if I made the mistake of reading right before bed the characters would jump off the page and follow me into my slumber.

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing the author in a personal and professional capacity, and I honestly can’t say how excited I am to see this accomplishment come to fruition. Even more so with the levels of craftsmanship shown in the work. Bravo! Can’t wait for the second book!
