I’ve been in love with my older brother’s best friend for most of my life.
Now I’m a rent boy, and he’s a cop.
Not that I stood a chance with him anyway. He’s straight—or so I thought, until I caught him looking at me like I was too tempting to resist.
But he considers me strictly off-limits. Can I convince him to give in to temptation? And if so, will we be able to build something real, when all the cards seem stacked against us?
Tempted is a low-angst gay romance set in the world of Alexa Land's Firsts and Forever series. Chronologically, it follows Pretenders and Kept Man in Alexa’s Firsts and Forever Stories, which can all be enjoyed as stand-alones or read in order.
This was super sweet and sexy romance. Minimum angst and high heat.
Eden and Seth have known each other for years. Seth has had a secret crush the whole time. Eden is slower to see Seth is the one.
Their journey to love is a bit bumpy but you never thought they would not get there. A few surprises and Nana makes an appearance. Love her. Eden and Seth have a perfect HEA for them.
I’m really loving this series. Casey is next and he really deserves an HEA.
Seth and Eden are a cute couple, and I loved the demisexual representation. 'Tempted' has a bit of an insta-love feel, even though the characters have known each other for 15 years, but there's only a very light sprinkling of angst that worked well as a whole.
I'm looking forward to reading Casey's story and his (hopefully) happily ever after too (I'm thinking it's going to be with the uptight surgeon, no?).
Least favourite of the series. I liked Seth and Eden but the transition from friends to more wasn't realistic for me. One minute they were friends who secretly had feelings for each other, the next it was unprotected sex and boyfriends. I know they've known each other for a long time but Eden had just realised he was demi. There was no conflict or adjustment period I just didn't really feel the chemistry.
Mostly I really hated the reveal about Casey. Unnecessary drama and since Eden knew he should have handled things a lot better and with more sensitivity. That plot thread ruined my enjoyment of up until then a decent enough read.
I ended up feeling like I do after eating dark chocolate - enjoyable while doing it but once finished I'm left with a bitter aftertaste.
I really loved the first two books in this series, but I felt like something was missing here. It was just okay. I didn’t really feel a strong connection between Eden and Seth. Add into that the reveal about Casey’s feelings near the end 😱😳 and it just felt messy. I am looking forward to reading more about Casey and the a-hole doctor though.
A sex shop called Buckingham Phallus! I just can’t. I’m dying. This might be the funniest thing I’ve read in an Alexa Land novel, and that’s saying a lot for the Queen of Peen. The world will be a sadder place if Ms. Land ever runs out of dick humor.
Tempted is a darling, friends to lovers, brother’s best friend romance between a prostitute and a straight-laced, straight-oriented, law-abiding police officer. It’s a delicious slow burn as they become carnally acquainted.
We met Seth in Kept Man when he reached out to Jasper for advice on how to be an escort. Now he’s been turning tricks for six months as a way to make a quick buck so he can get his own apartment separate from his older brother, Casey, and Casey's childhood best friend, Eden. At twenty-five, Seth feels he needs to finally stand on his own two feet, and more importantly, put some distance between himself and Eden, who he has secretly loved for an agonizing fifteen years. It will also make it easier to maintain secrecy about his prostitution without constantly lying.
Eden has a very strong personal code of conduct. He finds out about Seth's choice of profession in an unexpected way, and when he does, he's devastated – both angry and disappointed. He always saw himself as Seth's protector and he chastises himself for not keeping his younger friend safe. Seth is devastated, too. He lives with the pain of loneliness. His father called him dumb and weak, his high school friends dumped him for being gay, and his football coach said he wasn’t good enough. Now he feels the inevitable loss of Eden. But this is a romance so of course they fall in love, and there are several small twists and surprises along the way.
If you follow my reviews you know by now that I’m a sucker for the perfect, passionate, first kiss, and not any old kiss will do. It needs to be the culmination of building desire that can’t be expressed with words. It needs to make my toes curl, and Seth and Eden achieve that.
“Everything hung in the balance. It felt as if time had become elastic, and that moment stretched out as anticipation crackled between us. We both knew our relationship was about to change forever, in ways we couldn’t begin to predict.”
Follow that up with panty-melting sex in bed, bent over a boulder, by a river in broad daylight… And don’t get me started on the sex toys! Eden is a very eager and willing student of Seth's show and tell. Gah!
I like how the men slide smoothly into a sexual relationship even though Eden has heretofore identified as straight. It’s refreshing when a bi- or gay-awakening (or in this case, demisexual) isn’t accompanied by page after page of angst over one’s shift in sexual orientation. This might be due to the level of trust the men already have in each other. The ease with which Eden acquiesces to his attraction to Seth is a welcome change of pace and maintains the author's lighter tone.
Tempted contains the always entertaining visit to Nana D's abode and the requisite Humpington trolling with Darwin and Josh. There’s just enough of a found family vibe from the time spent with Nana and Co to maintain a connection to the original Firsts and Forever series without duplicating that formula. This newer series sets itself apart through the use of insulated settings which allows the budding relationships to grow intimate more quickly. It’s like being cocooned on a honeymoon, first in French Polynesia in The Pretenders and then holed up in Micah's house in Kept Man. This time, the story begins in San Francisco but is in large part set in a remote rental cabin well off the beaten track in Utah.
Seth and Eden are both highly likable characters, and they’re supported with great performances by Casey and Eden's elderly but young at heart grandfather, George. What a delightfully sweet and comical character. The next most prominent character might be Bernice the frankencar.
Seth says he finds comfort and familiarity with Eden. That’s what you’ll find in Tempted – a comfort book with the familiarity of Ms. Land's quaint mix of humor, heartwarming feels, and characters that always shine brightly.

I do enjoy this series and I did enjoy this book. But it wasn't my fave. Eden caved too easily and Seth forgives too easily. That said, I also always complain that fiction makes love seem too hard--like it's too much work. Sometimes love and relationships really are that easy. So the end consensus is: there's just no pleasing me, carry on.
Nana and bacon lube. Insane cat attacking things. OMG the shop and it’s catch name and theme. The list of enjoyable things in this book is a mile long!
So this just sucked can't believe I finished it. I really should rate it one star but I hate doing that. Anyways the dialogue was so cheesy and so completely unrealistic I mean people just don't talk like that just no.

I really enjoy Alexa Land's writing and this story was terrific. I felt for Seth because he didn't know what to do with his life and became a prostitute which ironically helped a bit with his confidence but lied to both his brother and his best friend who is a cop. I knew he would be found out but the scene where Eden called him out in the restaurant was funny but the conversation was not good at all. And of course his brother Casey was mad too. Seth did have a habit of running away when things got to be too much so his running back to St Louis was not a surprise. Eden tracking him down wasn't a surprise either. I was sure that Eden was attracted to Seth but was surprised to find out how their relationship began. The shock of Casey finding them and the fallout from it was sad and Seth going back to San Francisco was a good thing since he was able to stay with his friends at Nana's house and it is always a joy to spend time with her. I was glad everyone came to their senses and know that Seth and Eden will be all right. Can't wait for Casey's story.
Seth lives with his brother and his brothers best friend in San Fransisco with Edens old grandfather that they help out. Seth have had a crush on Eden for as long as he can remember but he have never acted on his feelings for him as he knew he were off limit because of the best friend side of the picture, but when eden catches Seth at one of his jobs everything changes when his secret job as a sex-worker gets out in all open and Seth is ready to pack up and leave town.
We get a glimpse into the wild neighbor fight between Nana and Humptington again and her new plan to confront him once again in an attempt to keep her garden safe from him.
This a low angst, sweet romance, crush/brothers best friend to lovers story, easy read and just a feel good story that is worth reading. It didn’t reach my top fav. List but its ok as some of Alexa other books lays up there already! Can’t wait to read Casey’s story tho as there seem like that can be quite a ride!
I absolutely loved the last book In this series and this one was okay. I liked the beginning of the story. Getting to know Eden and Seth and some insight to their friendship. There are looks and definite clues that they are both equally pinning for each other. It was a good start. But then it seems to go from zero to 100 within a breath and It just wasn’t very realistic.
The supposedly straight Eden had no qualms about being with a man. The sex, although incredibly hot, escalated quickly, and then they were boyfriends. It was a lot all at once and I just wish the pacing in the second half of the book would have matched the first.
This is still very on brand for Alexa Land and if you like her books this will be a win for you. It’s sexy and sweet and I will try Casey’s book next. It really seems that I totally like it or it’s too much too fast.
After being teased with Seth and Eden in the previous book, I’m glad we got their story! These two are genuinely kind and caring men, and them ending up together was so sweet. I would have loved a bit more of their background to better understand their history, but I also love the story as is. Alexa’s stories are always a great mix of romance, humor, vulnerability, found family and friendship. I love that we continue to get stories in this awesome world that Alexa has created, and see just how supportive and loving found family can be.
I’m really looking forward to the next book! It sounds like there’s going to be a lot of enemies-to-lovers deliciousness.
Tempted was just a sweet, fluffy fantasy of a romance! I love the whole long-time-crush/brother’s-best-friend/friends-to-lovers/demisexual/bi-awakening thing. You can’t go wrong! I think this could be read as a stand-alone since there aren’t really any previous main characters in it. Just some side characters. I do think Nana’s feud with Humpington is getting a little old, it’s just not funny anymore and I’m ready to move on from that. I do miss the humor and a little more edginess and depth of feeling her Firsts and Forever series had. I really enjoyed this book though and can’t wait for Casey’s story!
-- Fast easy read -- Cop/Rent boy pairing -- brother's best friend -- long time crush -- demisexual -- forced proximity -- hurt/comfort -- low angst -- some humor -- some sweet moments -- started out strong but lost its oomph -- first time everything with a man -- less sex would have been nice -- likeable MCs... Seth & Eden -- interracial couple -- good but didn't knock my socks off -- nice seeing characters from past books -- I love Nana but it's time to move on from her humor -- was hoping for more -- looking forward to Casey's story
Let me start with this: Alexa Land’s worst day is more interesting than some author’s best day. I loved the initial two stories of this series. They were interesting, edgy and well thought out. We had time for character development and fall in love with them before they get together. All of this was missing in this story. It felt rushed and not nearly on the same level as its predecessors. I sluggishly finished this and will give the next installment a chance; but, I would remiss if I didn’t say how much it drained me to do so.
Seth and Eden have known each other for 15 years because Eden is best friends with Seth's older brother Casey (see book 4), Seth was perceived as straight but was actually Demi. No problems there. Story is sweet, low-angst, but high on steam. I wish there were more of a transition from friends to exclusive boyfriends, but beyond that, this was an easy, comfort read. (This whole series is a comfort read!)
I like how we have the opportunity to "meet" the characters in the next books, even if only from afar.
This series of books is proving to be highly joyful to read! Ms Land has stitched together a fabulous story with enough overlap to keep things wonderfully fun. I have become especially fond of Nana and her hysterical high jinx involving her homophobic neighbor! I haven’t laughed so hard while reading a m/m romance as I have with these books. Hard enough that I’ve had to set my iPad aside to wipe my eyes because I couldn’t read the page! Brava Ms Land, brava!!
Seth, who was introduced in the previous book in the series, is sex worker who has had a long-term unrequited love for his brother's best friend and cop, Eden. Eden occasionally looks with interest at Seth, but it's nothing that can't be chalked up to friendship. Can these two find a path to mutual love?
This book is exceptionally well-paced and a bit unpredictable. It is low-angst and fun, with a great HEA.
Like many readers I liked the first quarter, then it fell from there. It was weird going from pained looks and side glances to being found out to being obsessed and in love. I liked the first two books but this one was kind of a miss. Even though the characters knew each other for a long time their chemistry seemed off. Not my favorite.
I didn’t really like this one as much as the previous two. For one, I’m not a fan of EXTREMELY slow burn. It took too long for there to be even a spark. And then Eden was so tense and uptight at all times outside of the bedroom. He wasn’t very likeable to me. However, there is a bit of a plot twist towards the end that made things a bit more interesting.
I have got to admit I really enjoyed the first two books in the series ,but I am not so sure about this one. I didn't quite like the characters I thought they were a little stereotypical ,but I made it to the end and I am looking forward to the next in line
I really enjoyed Eden and Seth’s story!! I liked getting to see Eden loosen up a bit and I loved how free Seth was. Nana shows up in this story and I loved her latest attack on humpington!! Thoroughly enjoyed this and I’m looking forward to the next one!!
This series is ok. It’s an easy read, it has its moments it is just missing something for me, not sure if it’s the guys are the story line. This one I liked the least. I will continue reading because curiosity and all
I didn’t like the character of Seth in the last book so I wasn’t really interested in his story. When it got back to the crazy granny and her stupid antics I just quit.
I know using Alexa Land's name in Landslide is a bit corney. But in my defense I thought it was a slick way of saying that this series is amazing and I will continue as they become available!
While the love built over several years, the storyline was rushed and saccharine sweet. The "conflict" was kind of juvenile for a 25 year old and a 32 year old cop and nurse. It was an ok read. I think I liked the other books in the series better.
