Flying Fearless

Rate this book
LUCAS:

When you win the biggest lottery in history, first thing’s first: you hire a gorgeous ex-Air Force pilot to teach you to fly. I’ve been terrified of planes since my father died in a crash, but being next to Craig makes me feel brave enough to sit in the pilot’s seat.

And when his hands brush mine, I know he’s not as straight as he claims.

But as perfect as we are in bed, we’re a disaster in the air. I’ve never been a good student, but my flight anxiety combined with Craig’s no-nonsense attitude keeps ruining our lessons. And when my ex-boyfriend reappears at my door, I have to face a hard truth: winning the lotto doesn’t uncomplicate your love life.

CRAIG:

I didn’t mean to fall in love with my student. Lucas fits the bill for “eccentric rich guy”, determined to fly even though he’s terrified. He’s persistent, and he’s the first man whose courage I find almost as attractive as his beautiful hands and lips.

Being together feels right, even from the beginning.

Well, except in the cockpit. My serious teaching style clashes with his uneasiness in the air, and our progress is slow. What’s worse, his shady ex decides to show up on his doorstep. He claims he doesn’t want a handout, but my protective instincts are dialed high. I’ll keep him safe, if he’ll let me.

This is the second book in the Lottery Winners series. It can be read as a standalone with no cliffhanger.

Not nearly as good as the first book in the series. This one felt disjointed and I didn't really care for the writing. But I liked the MC's and loved seeing them falling in love.

Lucas Whiting, along with his two friends Leo and Fenton are winners of a multi-million dollar lottery. Paying dearly to keep their winnings secret, the three can now do what they've always wanted to do with very few monetary restraints. Lucas lost his father, a test pilot, in an aircraft accident years ago - an accident that has only helped to solidify Lucas' extreme fear of flying. Now in an attempt to honor and create a tribute for his deceased dad, Lucas buys a huge cabin in the forest which is equipped with an airfield. After hiring a flight instructor and buying a small aircraft, Lucas can now fulfill his dream to conquer his fear of flying once and for all. But will learning to fly be the only thing he will learn from his flight instructor?

Craig Dennison is a highly experienced ex-Air Force pilot. Gaining employment with the cute but Lucas, Craig finds he is attracted to his boss to the point of distraction. But when Lucas finally earns his wings, will Craig be able to walk away and say goodbye to all they have together?

I really enjoyed Flying Fearless! First, the premise of three friends winning a huge lottery and then doing something personally and individually important with his winnings is like a breath of fresh air when it comes to the plot of the books of this series. Craig is forced into Lucas' close proximity especially in the cockpit, but what I found interesting is how each guy is still attracted to each other even though some personality traits of the other drive him crazy. Lucas doesn't like the way Craig is teaching him to operate the airplane, yet Craig must feel that Lucas' response to his training comes across as a bit immature and heedless of the element of safety. Craig is a stickler for perfection, and Lucas' is much more laid back. The plot of Flying Fearless is fun and entertaining. The main characters are very well developed and realistically portrayed in the novel. The secondary characters, especially Leo and Fenton, help Lucas to see what he's missing in life… someone to be beside him, to teach him… and to cherish him.

An awesome book!! Highly recommended!! 5 stars!

I read an advance reader's copy of this book, and am leaving my honest and unbiased opinion of it.

Lord have mercy but these two had communication issues! I wanted to knock them both upside their heads. Lucas wants to learn to fly but he doesn't want to follow orders, he doesn't want to memorize instructions, and he doesn't want to figure it out in a traditional manner. Craig is ex Air Force and he's used to barking orders and having them obeyed without question. Oil and water! It had me shaking my head at them more than once. Outside of the plane, these guys are golden. Craig is a bit overprotective at moments but he wants Lucas to be safe and to care for him. I liked that once they each realize the issue they work to change the dynamic. Craig doesn't shut down Lucas's question, they aren't a challenge to his authority and Lucas realizes that Craig's desire is to protect him. When Lucas's ex shows up and causes issues, I was impressed that Craig realizes that his actions are the wrong way to go and returns to fix things. A scummy ex and really bad guys are dealt with and the ending sees both men in a solid relationship.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the second book in the Lottery Winners series. Lucas has decided to learn to fly after he wins the lottery and finally get over his fears. When Lucas contacts Craig to teach him to fly, Craig decides to take the job. Craig has recently retired from the air force and want to continue to be around planes, so he thinks the job will be an easy one. Lucas never told Craig about his fears and when they take off for the first time, Craig soon realizes Lucas is scared to death. Soon, Lucas and Craig are at odds during the lessons, but seem to get along well on the ground. Craig is also finding himself attracted to Lucas, even though he is straight. This was another good read from Jason. I really liked Lucas, i thought he had a huge heart and was very loyal and trusting with his friends. Craig was like a bear on the outside, but he was very protective and loving toward Lucas. I enjoyed their story. I look forward to the next book.

Lucas is a mega lottery winner who lost his father, a test pilot, to a crash years ago. He now wants to conquer his fears and learn to fly. Craig is a recently retired Air Force pilot who takes a job to teach Lucas how to fly and pass his flight exams. As they live in the same house and spend time together, their relationship turns passionate. Meanwhile, they clash heavily in the cockpit about Craig's instructional approach. Can this relationship turn into something more permanent?

This is the second in the Lottery Winners series. It is entertaining, but predictable. It is a light-hearted read that should leave the reader feeling satisfied.

I wanted to like this more but there is a lot of sex for such a short run time and that left room for very little else. I'm not sure why Craig is written as a straight man as that narrative choice doesn't drive any conflict, external or internal, or really factor into the story. The character of Freddy seems to show up once the author suddenly realizes that there has to be more to the book than just flying lessons, leading to a little plastered on drama. The ending also is oddly hollow and while this book does have an HEA, it doesn't begin to explain what that looks like for the characters.

LUCAS CONQUERS HIS FEAR

I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review.

Lucas, one of the lottery winners, hires Craig to teach him how to fly without
telling him that he is extremely anxious about flying. He wants to find out why his father found flying so intriguing. Love is in the air, along with treachery and danger. Keeping the winnings a secret is something that couldn’t be done. I loved the way Craig defends Lucas and I was a little put out with Lucas’s naïveté.

Lucas hires Craig, a veteran to teach him how to fly in order to overcome fear after his father's death at the controls of a plane
While in bed things go smoothly, it's inside the plane that things get complicated, Craig a former military man sees Lucas as a military man who complies without question, but Lucas questions and has to understand everything
Things are even more complicated with the arrival of Lucas’ old boyfriend
A very good book following the series of the 3 friends who win the lottery

I received an ARC in exchange of an honest review

A delightful heartwarming story. I’m loving this series of Jason’s, had substance, goes to show money doesn’t solve your problems, loveable characters, there were times I wanted to throttle both Lucas and Craig, humour and hot sensual scenes. Another keeper.

I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book for my honest opinions of which I’m under no obligation to do so. I absolutely recommend this story.

Great addition to series. This is Lucas' story. Lucas has always wanted to learn how to fly. He hires Craig who is an ex Military pilot that now gives lessons. Romance & angst. Can't wait to see what's up next. A beautiful, sweet and light read.

Lucas decides to use his lottery winnings to learn to fly, but he needs to get over his fear first. Craig is newly retired and is surprised by his feelings for Lucas. There is not much we learn about Craig.

Good Story

Except for the few grammatical errors and misspellings, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. There were 3 instances where the author referred to Lucas (who was speaking) when he really meant Leo.

Learning to fly can be fun.

Lucas and Craig didn't start off very well in the beginning but managed to work things out. Still, I think these authors think that gay men do nothing but shag like women do in straight books. Sad.

Another great story in this series. I liked the chemistry between Lucas and Craig, and the low drama storyline. And now, I can't wait for Fenton's story.
