Having loved writing stories growing up, it was a walk along Takapuna beach and a chance glimpse at a distant lighthouse that made him want to revisit his childhood passion and try his hand at producing a novel. Nearly ten years on from that fateful stroll, he is proud to finally share his story.

"The Lighthouse" by Christopher Parker is a debut novel of Magical Realism.
On the Pacific Coast in Seabrook, OR, a lighthouse, bordered-up many years ago and rumored to be haunted is the backdrop of this story. A one-day romance between Amy Tucker and Ryan Porter, who are unknowingly brought together, is the centerpiece of everything that takes place.
Amy and Ryan are both struggling with life challenges. Amy is broken by the tragic death of her mother. Ryan is shattered by his father's devastating illness. Their unexpected connection brings a welcome distraction for both of them.
When the old lighthouse mysteriously begins to glow brighter and brighter, what could it mean? Is it a sign of something to come? Is it real or imagined?
Character driven and emotional, this story will touch your heart. The author gives authenticity to how deeply grief and hardship can impact one's life both physically and mentally.
This story reads and feels like a YA novel and would definitely appeal to this younger audience. The overly simplistic dialog between Amy and Ryan, the light-romantic tone, and the lacking maturity level of these two main characters are all strong examples of the YA genre.
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Braden Wright. His voice is deep, he reads beautifully and his voicing of male characters is engaging. It has been my experience when a male narrator is voicing female characters, it doesn't translate well to the listener. It detracts the listener, while the addition of a female narrator would not.
3.5 stars for the story, 3 stars for the audiobook averaging to 3.25 stars. I enjoyed this author's creative story and look with interest at what he comes up with next.

A mixed read for me, but I have to wonder how I would have felt had I read instead of listening. I love anything that has a lighthouse in it and strange happenings surrounding one is an added bonus. I liked the characters liked the idea behind the story and thought the town was quaint. It had horses in it, another plus.
What I didn't like was the overly dramatic scenes, and the dialogue was sometimes over the top and actually sounded corny at times. The narrator was Braden Wright and straight men's voices were fine, but the women's voices were awkward, strange. Still, it was entertaining if unbelievable, but then do we really know what happens when we leave this world? Could there be other timelines, zones where the impossible becomes possible? Who can say?

I was enchanted by this story of grief, love and magical realism. It read somewhat like a fairy tale and I was totally under its spell. It was really a character driven book. When I picked it up I didn't expect the magical nature of the book. It started out with Amy trying to deal with the grief of losing her mother. She and her father, aa police detective, had never been close. This was even more pronounced after her mother's death. Her father was being sent out of town on police business - some business, but really a to get Amy to come with him so that they could spend some time together.
They travelled to Seabrook, only to spend one night, but circumstances changed. The morning after they arrived, Amy's father disappeared. Amy met Ryan who lived on a nearby ranch. After spending some time together, they end up trying the discover the secret of the mysterious lighthouse.
A very imaginative debut novel. Ryan's story was heartbreaking and my heart went out to him. I liked all of the characters in the book, which is unusual - there is usually at least one rotten character in most books. I liked that there was no violence in this story. I think it should be classified more as a YA book though.

The Lighthouse was a debut novel by Christopher Parker. I would categorize it more as a Y. A. genre. It was slow especially in the beginning. The Lighthouse explored family relationships, death, friendships, trust, parent/child relationships, letting go and romance. I listened to the audiobook that was read by Braden Wright. I found his voice annoying at times and felt that he was not the best fit to portray some of the characters in The Lighthouse. I was rather disappointed in his overall performance.
Amy Tucker was an eighteen year old young woman when she lost her mother in a tragic car accident. She and her father, Kevin, were both grieving but they did not know how to help each other. They had been estranged for a long time. Kevin was a police detective and his work kept him away from home. His involvement in Amy’s life had suffered as a result. Every time, Amy’s father, Kevin, tried to talk to Amy they usually ended up fighting instead. Kevin’s brother, also a police detective, convinced Kevin to investigate a missing person’s case out of town. It might be just what father and daughter both needed to start to repair their relationship.
Amy and her father arrived in the seaside town of Seabrook and checked into their hotel. Shortly after their arrival, Amy went for a short walk and discovered the Lighthouse that was a landmark in this town. The Lighthouse was old and in need of major repairs. It appeared to be abandoned and closed up. When Amy got back to the hotel, she went to the room her father had gotten for them. Her father was not there so Amy decided to take a bath. The next thing Amy witnessed was a strange man shaking her shoulders and trying to wake her up. He claimed he had noticed water seeping into the hall and was just trying to help. I found Amy’s reaction to this invasion unsettling. The next day, Amy went to thank the stranger for saving her and waking her up. She apologized for her behavior the day before and for the way she spoke to him. Amy learned that the stranger’s name was Ryan and that he was a rancher. Amy and Ryan end up spending the entire day together. They felt an instant attraction and comfort with each other. Both Amy and Ryan were able to help each other heal, let go and get on with their lives.
There were parts I really liked about The Lighthouse and parts that made me shake my head in disgust. I did enjoy the ending. Amy’s dialogue seemed to me very childish in parts. It did not sound like the way an eighteen year old woman would talk. I was not a big fan of the supernatural elements either. Overall, I was more disappointed in The Lighthouse than thrilled with it.

Amy, who has just hit adulthood and left her teen years behind, was recently struck with the unbearable trauma of losing her beloved mother to a tragic car accident. Her father, Kevin, who works with the police, equally struck by this tragic event, has found himself at a loss, unable to bridge the chasm this event created between him and his daughter. At his brother's suggestion, the two leave Portland and head to a town called Seabrook, where Ryan, our second main character in the story, is dealing with his own dilemma, trying to survive severe financial difficulties that could cost him his family ranch, while taking care of his ill father. The lives of these two characters intertwine, impacting each other in profound ways.
This book does a great job hitting the reader in all the right places to get them to experience the heavy emotions it was trying to convey. It deeply explores grief, an emotion we all experience at one point in life. It does a great job showing us how grief can greatly damage our mental health, making us believe that there is no realistic path forward after an irreversible loss, even though there is always a way out of that dark tunnel, if one changes their perspective, and allows time to slowly make the wound hurt less. We walk with Amy through this dark path, and get to see how Ryan shines a beacon of light in her life that allows all of these shadows to start losing their influence on her. We get to experience the simple purity of kindness that Ryan embodies through his character, which is a very refreshing breath of air, since this kindheartedness is very difficult to come across in our day to day lives.
The setting of the story was described quite nicely, and reading this book felt like a very vivid journey into Seabrook, and I was left feeling truly immersed in the atmosphere of the world. I could vividly imagine the town square, the hotel, the ranch, the beach and the lighthouse, and it was a very cozy atmosphere. When I think of Seabrook, I get a pleasant and nostalgic feeling, and it is a town I would like to re-explore one day.
The story is very character driven, and it is imperative to like the characters in order to enjoy reading the book, since we spend a great portion of it exploring the psyches of our main characters and reading about them hanging out with each other. There were surprising twists in the book that took the plot to places I wasn't initially expecting, and it did a good job making me want to turn the pages to find out what happens next.
One critique I would have would be related to the characters themselves, specifically their dialogues which felt a bit too one-dimensional and without much variability. Their expressions felt too artificial and not too realistic in terms of what you would expect from people in real life. To give a vague idea about what I mean without quoting the actual book, most of the dialogue was similar to things like "Oh, I'm so glad you did that!" or "Oh, jeez, that does sound so very terrible!.. with a lot of "cliche stock expressions" and punctuation that make it clear that this is a work of fiction with the characterization not being very realistic. This aspect of the book negatively impacted my immersion, however, some people might see it as a positive form of escapism. Due to this aspect of the writing and the softer romance aspects, I would classify this book as more of a YA work and not so much as an adult book as it was marketed under, so having this expectation in mind while reading it might lead the reader to have a more positive experience and not be taken by surprise because of it. I would have also preferred if Amy's character was developed a little more, since she felt a bit bland in some aspects and vivacious in others, in a manner that was a bit inconsistent despite her grief.
Overall, this was a pleasant book to read. The developments at the second half of the book made me appreciate the story as a whole, and rereading the book one day knowing the full picture would be an interesting experience since I would notice the little hints planted at the beginning. The topics explored tug at your heartstrings, and Seabrook is a very heartwarming place the reader will likely appreciate their stay in. I would be curious to see more works by this author!

When Kevin Tucker lost his wife, his daughter Amy lost not only a loving mom, but also a dear friend. Saddled with guilt and grief in the face of a devastating loss, Amy withdraws into herself and into a dark and painful place.
Distraught at the state of Amy’s health, Kevin undertakes a missing person’s case in the distant town of Seabrook in the hopes that a change in scenery may lift Amy’s spirits, and hopefully bring he and Amy closer. Begrudgingly, Amy agrees to tag along on her dad’s assignment. Because anything was better than staying at home alone.
Upon arrival in Seabrook, Kevin and Amy settle back into their old routines. With Kevin heading down to the bar and Amy attempting to get some much needed sleep that she has been struggling to get for the last month.
Desperate for sleep, Amy draws a bath and begins her relaxation process only to be startled awake by a strange man in her bathroom, who she would later come to know as Ryan Porter.
The Lighthouse is a slow build adult fiction with hints of romance and mystery. But it is so much more and I can’t say a great deal more without giving away the story. I can say that I was taken away by the plot and was very moved by the storyline.
The characters are likeable and there is a bit of intrigue in all of them until the story unfolds toward and unforgetable ending. The Lighthouse is a moving novel that will take your breath away, leave you sobbing and wanting it to never end. Five touching stars.

Aurora Borealis
they say is a spectacular phenomenon that would render anyone mute with its wonderous display of lights. I have seen the magical lights only in videos but the stunning imagery was enough to inspire a feeling of such awe and wonder as to leave me speechless.
The Lighthouse by Christopher Parker is one such book that is comparable to the same feeling of utter speechlessness. A story that encompasses unconditional love for your parent, longing, grief, and above all hope is a haunting melody that tugs at the heartstrings and makes the readers crave parental love.
The emotional story set in the town called Seabrook is a character driven tale centered on Amy and Ryan, both of them struggling in their own ways. There’s a palpable sense of grief that is endured by Amy and the writing by the author is so beautiful that the town of Seabrook becomes a visual experience. Some parts of the story with aspects of magical realism are thoroughly absorbing and along with Amy, I felt uplifted and buoyed up with the selflessness and kindness that shines thru Ryan.
Christopher Parker’s debut work is all heart with a subject that is relatable to many that of loss and unconditional love. Ryan and Amy make Seabrook come alive but I do wish that the author had not used the cliched dialogues between them that suddenly brings home the fact that is fiction and not real.

A lovely magical story that was fantastic on audio.

Amy recently lost her mother and she is reeling from the grief. Her father, a member of the state police, decides to take Amy with him on an assignment about a missing person to the quaint town if Seabrook.
Seabrook comes alive in this book, although set in the modern day, it captured the simplicity of life years ago. One of the main attractions in Seabrook is a lighthouse that has been broken for years, explained away through tales of hauntings of local spirits. During the first night of their stay, the lighthouse magically lights up after years of dormancy. It's a miracle!
The town is alive with curiosity, bringing everyone out to see it. Amy meets Ryan, a local owner of a horse farm, and an immediate connection forms.
What follows are tales of love and heartbreak. Despite the heartbreak and sadness, this story is so heartwarming, full of magic and supernatural elements.
As you all know, fantasy is not my genre, but this story, with a touch of magic, was absolutely PERFECT for me.

Amy recently lost her mother and she is reeling from the grief. Her father, a member of the state police, decides to take Amy with him on an assignment about a missing person to the quaint town if Seabrook.
Seabrook comes alive in this book, although set in the modern day, it captured the simplicity of life years ago. One of the main attractions in Seabrook is a lighthouse that has been broken for years, explained away through tales of hauntings of local spirits. During the first night of their stay, the lighthouse magically lights up after years of dormancy. It's a miracle!
The town is alive with curiosity, bringing everyone out to see it. Amy meets Ryan, a local owner of a horse farm, and an immediate connection forms.
What follows are tales of love and heartbreak. Despite the heartbreak and sadness, this story is so heartwarming, full of magic and supernatural elements.
As you all know, fantasy is not my genre, but this story, with a touch of magic, was absolutely PERFECT for me.

Amy is struggling to deal with the death of her mother. Her father, a police detective, is clueless about finding a way to connect with his daughter. The distance between them is growing farther, and there’s no one to fill it.
Then comes a chance to go to Seabrook, a small town with a historical lighthouse. Amy’s father has to close a cold case and hopes he gets to spend time with Amy, even if it is only for a day in the town.
However, unexpected incidents result in Amy meeting Ryan and spending her weekend with him. Ryan is a young man caring for his father and working on their family ranch.
The pair hits off and feels comfortable talking to each other. The lighthouse, though, has other plans. The lamp flashes a strong beam after decades and results in a rush of speculations and assumptions.
Amy’s right in the middle of a mystery, and she somehow finds herself entering the forsaken and crumbling lighthouse. What does Amy find inside? How does it change her life and Ryan’s? What does this mean to the Seabrook and its people who are already obsessed with the lighthouse?
• The first half of the book is pretty much what you’d expect from a sweet YA romance with a touch of mystery.
• The midsection of the book is devoted to fantasy/magic realism of sorts with a new theory thrown in.
• The final section is a family YA story that ends with an epilogue decades later.
Now, I do like new ways to create a fantasy in a real-world setting. This one was a bit vague at first, but I understood the concept. It was interesting too.
However, the story pretty much went back to the non-fantasy track, and there wasn’t any reference to it. Not even in the epilogue (except for a distant connection). I personally love epilogues, but this one disappointed me. Guess my expectations were different than what was delivered in the book.
As much as I liked the book until about 75-80%, the rest of it didn’t work much for me. The only saving grace is that the writing is easy to read. I could finish 360+ pages in two days. Some of the dialogues are surface-level and way too generic. But since the characters were YA, I didn’t mind that much.
To sum up, The Lighthouse had a promising start only to end up flat towards the end. Also, I felt the lighthouse wasn’t used to its full potential. It was more of a convenient prop when it could have been a lot, lot more.

A book unlike any I have ever read. I read this book and quickly it became a part of me. I have been dreaming of the book the last couple of nights. It wasn't too long before when I stopped reading for a bit, my mind said, 'what will happen next?!'
If I had to describe the book in one sentence it would be: Two souls battered by life find solace in each other's arms. In this day where everything has been done and is being redone, comes this book. Possibly the most original book written in the last 25 years. The book caused my jaw to drop. To be overwhelmed by a story written by an author is a rare thing. When everything makes sense, the simple fact is this is one of the best books ever written.
I cannot recommend this book enough. This book will appeal to anyone who enjoys deep character development. This book will appeal to the romantic at heart. This book will appeal to anyone who has ever suffered the loss of a loved one. This book will appeal to fans of great books. Buy this book, make it a best seller. You won't regret buying this book. This will become a yearly re-read for me.

Amy Tucker's mother was killed in a car accident a month ago and she's struggling with her grief. I DNF'd this audio at 25%. I was not relating to any of the characters, the narrator was boring me to death with lack of emotion, and I just wasn't liking the story. Audios are hit or miss for me, this was a definite miss.

A book full of mystical realism - mystical realism so real that until you are told you don't know it. Parker does a great job of depicting his characters and immersing them in the story. It is easy to come under his spell and not only root for Amy and Ryan, but enjoy the stories secrets as they are unveiled.
Ryan is not only trying to save the family farm, which has been in the family for generations, but is also trying to save his father from dying of cancer. Amy, who is visiting for the weekend, is trying to overcome the grief of having just lost her mother. They accidentally meet, in a most unusual manner.
It seems while Amy is there visiting the old abandoned lighthouse once again streams it's powerful beacon. The whole town is obsessed with this lighthouse and every one thinks it is haunted. So why does Amy end up inside the lighthouse? What will she learn? What will she gain? What will she lose?
I usually like magical realism in a story. I don't usually like romance stories. But the mixture of the two in this case worked very well. This is a book to suspend your belief and just enjoy for the sake of enjoyment. Well worth an afternoons read.

A book like the Lighthouse hits me differently on an emotional level. I just finished listening to the audiobook and my emotions are all mixed up between feeling happy and sad. If only things had turned out differently for Ryan--sweet, kind and lovable Ryan! The narration done by Braden Wright is superb and compliments the beautiful writing of the author Christopher Parker.

I was enjoying this book right up until the "slow globe" twist. Sometimes twist like that are exciting, but this one just felt forced, and none of it truly made sense to me. The author tried to explain how the whole concept worked, but I couldn't wrap my head around it. It just felt like a whole bunch of elements cobbled together to try and make a story - longhouse, small town, death, horses, reluctant souls - and it just didn't work for me.

I finished this book in less than 24 hours and will be pressing it into the hands of everyone I know. It's the perfect fall read! Spooky and ghosty but with so much more to the story. I was so impressed with the way the story and twists unfolded, and I just absolutely loved and connected to the characters. I will have a book hangover for a while.

I’m at a loss for what I just read and what its done to my soul. Close to the bottom are my initial words in my final “status update”. I’ve said a story has left me wrecked, but those were, more often than not, twisted thrillers. With this I’m wrecked in a way which I cannot even move onto another book yet because I’m not ready to leave Seabrook and the people who live there, behind.
This beauty here has permeated every fiber and bone inside me, at a time in my life in which I let nothing into my heart anymore. This story and these characters crashed right through. It has consumed all of me in the most wonderful and delightful ways a person could feel (I have never ever used the word delightful so……that speaks volumes), no pun intended……until I decided to leave said pun alone.
I want to go back. I want to start it all over again, like I’ve never been to Seabrook, like I’ve never met the people yet. I want to breathe the town, the people and the story into my lungs all over again. I wish to be there and a part of, even just a fraction if that’s all I was offered.
I honestly cannot type anything more at the moment and yet here I am still typing more. I keep welling up with tears.
Apologies to all other authors, of this genre, but none, none of them, not one of has ever made me feel so taken. Christopher Parker has effortlessly stepped into and with (I actually mean above) all others of this story premise. For me, Christopher Parker just hit the number one spot on my most cherished stories and most appreciated authors. I don’t mean for that to be disrespectful to any others, because they all deserve admiration and respect for their hard work and heart given through their stories, but for me, I cannot keep it quiet that this author has done something far and above. His words strung, creating the world I just visited, managed to penetrate a heart where light has gone dark and has been, blocked off, closed for many years. ‘That’ is a deeply emotional sense of peace and release of the grief which has been gripped onto me for many years.
I’m so thankful I got to read his story. At this point I’m typing ramblings, as usual, but this is different. Far different than any other experience I’ve been with in a work of fiction.
I fell in love with the characters, I swooned over the connection between the MC (Amy) and Ryan. Their connection was sweet, passionate, tender, solid, at moments sad, fun and ‘real’.
We don’t know much of Amy’s dad, but what we do know he’s simply a very lovable character. Again, he’s ‘real’.
Ryan is a character whom, if he was pulled out of the story into the real world, would be a joy and a pleasure to have in one’s life. So genuine, good hearted, humble, respectful, responsible, compassionate……I could go on. Overall he has a profound purity in his soul. The care he showed throughout made me feel I wanted and needed to know him and be in his presence.
The town was mysterious, quaint, but that mysterious nature made it feel a bit wonderfully eerie. Like Hitchcock or Twilight Zone. I almost expected Rod Serling to step into the story and announce “You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension - a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. You've just crossed over into….…..The Lighthouse!".
The atmospheric feeling was painted onto the pages. I’d swear I was there. The sense of seeing images instead of words on a page was brought to life by the well crafted writing style.
I desperately want to go back, unfortunately I’m sadly aware that, this is fiction and eventually I’ll have to move on to enter the pages of another story. But I will ‘never’ forget this one. It will be that ‘one’, the one most beautiful, tender, mysterious and touching I’ve read.
I need a print copy of this book in my life. A copy that’s as stunning and gorgeous as the story inside it. One that’s displayed where I’ll always see it staring at me telling me there’s hope, there’s magical and mystical, there’s love. One that’s in view to always remind me not to give up and to always see that the sweetest simplest things in life can become if I simply and wholeheartedly choose to believe………

Buy this book, borrow this book (legally), read this book. Especially in times, which has left the world in non-fictional wreckage. This book, in these days of a pandemic, is healing and soothing of the sheer exhaustion, fears, losses and the hurt inside all of us.
If an author can take a person, who’s been reading all thrillers because they match the mood of a person whose life destruction, devastation and most gut wrenching losses, could not be opened to ‘anything’ other than living in the dark and suffocating through the pain, and then make me feel all this wonderful……..That author deserves to be put in view of readers on a level of grandeur as the best of the best writers. I didn’t even want to read a book that was full of the magic and enchantment that’s in here, but I did and everything I’ve written here is exactly the intensity of emotions I feel.
If I could, I’d purchase hundreds and hand them out to everyone who’s eyes and words are that of pain, loneliness and lost hope.

This was a wonderful, atmospheric story that I absolutely loved. The main protagonists, Amy Tucker and Ryan, are flawed and each dealing with heavy things that not many their age deal with. Amy is in town only for the night and as she starts to hear rumblings of a haunted lighthouse, she doesn’t think too much of it as she won’t be in the town for long. Ryan is the son of a ranch owner who lives on the outskirts of town, and is also familiar with these haunted lighthouse stories. The pair have a chance encounter that brings them very close together and extends Amy’s stay for a little longer and throws them both right in the middle of this lighthouse-obsessed town.
There is a lot more to the story, but you really need to read this one for yourself. I loved the relationship between Amy and Ryan, as well as the ones that they each had with their fathers and their growth that occurred throughout the book. Running parallel to this storyline is the lighthouse and the question of whether or not it is haunted, and I enjoyed this plot equally as much as the other one. It also contained a nice surprise of magical realism that I thought was additive to the story.

I loved this!
I really wasn't expecting all that this book throw at me.. A mystery finely woven with magic and romance, sprinkled with paranormal.
Very well written, and deeply emotional in places. I was pulled in by the story and held In place till the end by the characters .
A lovely story of love, loss, faith and family.

Absolutely loved this book! I did not read the summary before going in, which made it all the better. Is it a mystery? A paranormal? A romance? It had a little bit of everything thrown in, was extremely well written, unpredictable, and unique. The narrator fit the book perfectly and kept me entranced. Just like that, Christopher Parker is on my must read list.

A beautifully told enchanting story,that grows on you and begins to unfold. Magical realisism, with some truly lovely imagery, that deals with lonliness, loyalty and loss, sad and at other times funny., set in the small seaside town of Seabrook.
Just now and again there are some disappointments in the use of what feelt like cliched dialogue but other times the telling was full of insight and particularly realistic to that between a grieving teen and her somewhat absent father.
I finished the bookvery quickly as I was always wanting to know what was going to happen and there are plenty of surprises and twists on this journey. The final wind up of the story, although done well, was a little bit of a disappoint to me.
I listened to an audiobook version and the found the voice of narrator, Braden Wright mesmerisingly suited to the story.

I honestly don't know what to say about this book except that I didn't like it.
I felt that the final idea was somewhat childish, that the booked was soooooo long and for no reason, it dragged on FOREVER. Several final chapters were just filler content and I was THIS close to giving up after the big realization.
I didn't like any of the characters. I thought Amy was a little brat and I hated her actions.
I also disliked the narrator. I really can't understand why there would be a male narrator for a book mostly told by a teenage girl. This really put me of!

Magical realism that is the framework for a story that deals with the handling of grief, mourning and the values by which we move forward in life.

I’m at a loss for what I just read and what its done to my soul. Close to the bottom are my initial words in my final “status update”. I’ve said a story has left me wrecked, but those were, more often than not, twisted thrillers. With this I’m wrecked in a way which I cannot even move onto another book yet because I’m not ready to leave Seabrook and the people, who live there, behind.
This beauty here has permeated every fiber and bone inside me, at a time in my life in which I let nothing into my heart anymore, this story and these characters crashed right through. It has consumed all of me in the most wonderful and delightful ways a person could feel (I have never ever used the word delightful so……that speaks volumes (no pun intended……until I decided to leave said pun alone.
I want to go back. I want to start it all over again, like I’ve never been to Seabrook and like I’ve never met the people yet. I want to breathe the town, the people and the story into my lungs all over again. I wish to be there and a part of, even just a fraction if that’s all I was offered.
I honestly cannot type anything more at the moment and yet here I am still typing more. I keep welling up with tears.
Apologies to all other authors, of this genre, but none, none of them, not one of has ever made me feel so taken. Christopher Parker has effortlessly stepped into and with (I actually mean above) all others of this story premise. For me, Christopher Parker just hit the number one spot on my most cherished stories and most appreciated authors. I don’t mean for that to be disrespectful to any others, because they all deserve admiration and respect for their hard work and heart given through their stories, but for me, I cannot keep it quiet that this author has done something far and above. His words strung, creating the world I just visited, managed to penetrate a heart where light has gone dark and has been blocked off closed for many years. ‘That’ is a deeply emotional sense of peace and release of the grief that’s been gripped onto me for many years.
I’m so thankful I got to read his story. At this point I’m typing ramblings, as usual, but this is different. Far different than any other experience I’ve been with in a work of fiction.
I fell in love with the characters, I swooned over the connection between the MC (Amy) and Ryan. Their connection was sweet, passionate, at moments sad, fun and ‘real’.
We don’t know much of Amy’s dad, but what we do know he’s simply a very lovable character. Again, he’s ‘real’.
Ryan is a character whom, if he was pulled out of the story into the real world, would be a joy and a pleasure to have in one’s life. So genuine, good hearted, humble, respectful, responsible, compassionate……I could go on. The care he showed throughout made me feel I wanted and needed to know him and be in his presence.
The town was mysterious, quaint, but that mysterious nature made it feel a bit wonderfully eerie. Like Hitchcock or Twilight Zone. I almost expected Rod Serling to step into the story and announce “You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension - a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. You've just crossed over into….…..The Lighthouse!".
The atmospheric feeling was painted onto the pages. I’d swear I was there. The sense of seeing images instead of words on a page was brought to life by the well crafted writing style.
I desperately want to go back, unfortunately I’m sadly aware that this is fiction and eventually I’ll have to move on to enter the pages of another story. But I will ‘never’ forget this one. It will be that ‘one’, the one most beautiful, tender, mysterious and touching I’ve read.
I need a print copy of this book in my life. A copy that’s as stunning and gorgeous as the story inside it. One that’s displayed where I’ll always see it staring at me telling me there’s hope, there’s magical and mystical, there’s love. One that’s in view to always remind me not to give up and to always see that the sweetest simplest things in life can become if I simply and wholeheartedly choose to believe………

If an author can take a person, who’s been reading all thrillers because they match the mood of a person whose life destruction, devastation and most gut wrenching losses, could not be opened to ‘anything’ other than living in the dark and suffocating through the pain, and then make me feel all this wonderful……..That author deserves to be put in view of readers on a level of grandeur as the best of the best writers. I didn’t even want to read a book that was full of the magic that’s in here, but I did and everything I’ve written here is exactly the intensity of emotions I feel.
If I could, I’d purchase hundreds and hand them out to everyone who’s eyes and words are that of pain, loneliness and lost hope.

What a beautiful story of loss, grief and learning to find your happy ending! Originally I had to put it down and thought I was going to dnf it. Mainly because of the pacing. But something made me pick it up months later, and I am really glad that I did. Following Amy and Ryan as they learned to cope with their own grief and find ways of moving forward, was such a rewarding thing to witness. Park made these characters so relatable, it was hard not to put myself in their shoes, hard to not agree with a lot of their emotional responses. It felt like I was learning with these characters.

Wow! This book was marvellous. If you love books with massive unexpected twists then this is the book for you. I listened to the audiobook and loved the narrator he really brought the book to life adding to the tension and atmosphere. The great thing is the twists that were so unexpected. Then boom this book hit another level, I just couldn't put this book down such amazingly powerful writing and emotions. The author is amazing at writing this unique story-line. The depth of characters allowed instant connections and allowed me to fall in love with them instantly. This is a real page turner full to the brim with twists and turns that it keeps you on the edge of your seat. It is so heart warming and devastating in equal measures. The ending without giving anything away was amazing I just couldn't predict it. The ending was so perfect . It felt so satisfying and a feeling of contentment. Its a perfect complete novel full of mystery and magical realism with a very errie feel to it. This book is beyond its 5 star rating its on another level.
I would like to thank the author and publishing team for bringing us such an enchanting tale that will blow your mind.
For a debut novel this author is definitely one to watch. I just can't wait to read further books by this talented author.

This book caught my attention because of the title. I love lighthouses and anything about them. Boy was I in for a good surprise!

This book was so good, I truly am struggling to find words to help explain how great it was. I loved this book. I laughed, I cried, I connected so much with the characters and the author did an amazing job of pulling everything together. He gave you the ending you were hoping for, plus so much more.
Amy is struggling with her mothers death and when her father tells her they are going to a small town to help wrap up a missing persons case for his job, she ends up coming along. Amy meets Ryan in the most bizarre way, but its like the universe is pulling the two of them together. Ryan has made Amy forget about the depression she has been in since her mothers death. He shows her around his home town, his ranch, and they bond over the fact that they both have lost their mother.
Ryan was sure his life was over after finding out his family ranch was going to be foreclosed on. He goes to drink is sorrows away and stumbles on Amy. He soon fins that all his worries have gone away when he is around her and he cant seem to let her out of his sight. He enjoys every moment with her and even confesses his biggest problem: not telling his elderly handicap dad that they are about to be kicked out of their family home.
The two help to heal each other, even if they don't realize it. This book is all about processing death and dealing with the aftermath of bad decisions. This book was everything that I wanted, plus more. The ending was exactly what I wanted it to be, although there was a great twist in this book.
