ML Nystrom had stories in her head since she was a child. All sorts of stories of fantasy, romance, mystery and anything else that captured her interest. A voracious reader, she’s spent many hours devouring books; therefore, she found it only fitting she should write a few herself!

ML has spent most of her life as a performing musician and band instrument repair technician, but that doesn’t mean she’s pigeon-holed into one mold. She’s been a university professor, belly dancer, craftsperson, soap maker, singer, rock band artist, jewelry maker, lifeguard, swim coach, and whatever else she felt like exploring. As one of her students said to her once, "Life’s too short to ignore the opportunities." She has no intention of ever stopping... so welcome to her story world. She hopes you enjoy it!

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: opposites attract
Angst:😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥
Triggers: assault

What a fabulous start to the new series by ML Nystrom! Gabriella's uncle knows he has her over a barrel when he blackmail's her into offering herself to the president of the Dutchmen MC. She is willing to do anything for the nephew she's raised, but Iceman is definitely intimidating and seems to live up to his moniker. Iceman knows he should stay away from Gabriella, that she's too good for him, but she's a temptation he just can't resist and may be his only chance for redemption.

I love ML Nystrom's other MC series and I was super excited when I heard this one was going to be a bit darker than the Dragon Runners series. Definitely darker. Definitely grittier. Iceman certainly lived up to his name and it was not a quick thaw after he met Gabriella. I enjoyed how his transformation took a while and didn't just happen over night. Gabriella was great. Super nurturing, but no doormat. The perfect compliment to our hero. The storyline was great - there is tons of action from page one and it just kept coming. It is well written and had just enough suspense to keep you hooked to the end. I seriously loved this book and cannot wait for the rest of the series!

The Price of Redemption is the first book in the Dutchmen MC series, can be read as a standalone, and does not end on a cliffhanger. It is told in 3rd person.

Not a fan of this one.

Iceman (39, MC Prez) is searching for the Bookie who stole money from the MC when in walks a woman who clearly does not belong there. Gabriella (22, virgin, doormat) is sent by her uncle as payment to the MC until he can repay the money he stole from them. Gabi goes willingly because she wants custody of the snot-nosed kid she's raised (her uncle's son). We go through at least 4 times of him acting like he wants her, then saying she's just a piece of ass, then him getting a BJ from a club whore. He never takes her virginity though. Not until the 66% mark. There's other things that are happening with the club, standard MC issues. They eventually end up with an HEA.

Things I hate: You know I hate kids in books, this one is a perfect example of why. The MC gets BJs from club whores instead of being with the FMC. They don't even have sex except once, maybe twice at most. There isn't enough relationship building between them, so I felt no happiness when they finally hooked up. She also put up with too much of his shit.

Things I did like. Not much. But the violence that happened in this one was pretty shocking compared to what you typically get with MC books - at least in my experience.

FYI - For whatever reason, I read Book 3 of this series a while back, never having read 1 or 2. This one coincides with Book 3, so I sort of remembered some of the things that happened. I liked Book 3 and now I understand it more. For that alone I think it was worth reading.

PS: the author has the WORST names for her characters. Piglet, Nutter, Railroad. The other MC is called The Tiger Clan. How stupid is that!!

M. L Nystrom is a new to me author and one whose books I will definitely continue to read. Simply put, The Price of Redemption was awesome. It’s the first book in the MC Dutchman series and it works well as a standalone.

Iceman, president of the Dutchmen MC, earned the moniker because of the cold and heartless manner in which he dealt with his enemies. Everyone who crosses his path is intimidated by him, except for the beautiful and innocent blond who turned up on the club steps.

Gabriella’s desire to protect her cousin left her no choice but to offer herself to Iceman as a bargaining chip as collateral, her uncle’s betrayal against the club. Iceman, not amused by the situation, reluctantly agrees to the arrangement. However, he had no intention of letting her uncle off the hook. During his search for Gabriella’s uncle, he learnt of a threat against the Dutchmen and their allies. While trying to learn the identity of the mastermind behind the threat, he recognised an even bigger threat. A threat to his heart, placing him at an even bigger risk with an unknown enemy and destroying his one chance at Redemption

I went into The Price of Redemption expecting a gritty read and got more than I bargained for. The story took me on an emotional, gripping, brutal and suspenseful journey. A journey I am glad I took. This story will grab hold of your heart as you follow the hero on his long and heartbreaking journey to redemption.

Iceman and Gabriella complemented each other. She was the light to his dark, the fire to his ice. The moment Ice laid eyes on her, he knew she had brought trouble. He just didn’t know the type until it was too late. Of course, as someone with a heartbreaking past, Iceman fought against his growing feelings for Gabriella. Sometimes he did so with cruel actions, hoping it would drive her away. She brought a side of him he never knew existed.

Gabriella’s fierce determination and strength in the face of adversity won me over immediately. I admired her selflessness.

The romance warmed my heart. The moment Iceman realised fighting was futile and embraced the inevitable, what we see is a coming together of two hearts, soul and mind. I was head over heels in love with this couple. I was pleasantly surprised that smexy times between the lead characters occurred late in the story. Also, it lacked the steam one would expect from this type of story. However, there are graphic details in relation to club members and their interactions with females who visit the club to provide entertainment.

The suspense build up kept me on the edge of my seat and had me flipping the pages. There was a point in the story where my heart leapt to my throat and had me fearing for them both. Be warned, some scenes are brutal and definitely not for the fainthearted.

Now, while I loved this book, I had issues with how the events were tied. It confused me and left me with lots of questions. However, it would seem that although each book in the series features a different couple, the story arc involving the enemy extends to the rest of the series.

Overall, The Price of Redemption is an interesting, deep and inspiring story. Readers who enjoy the darker side of MC stories will want to add Price of Redemption to their reading list.

"An Emotionally Gripping and Powerful MC Story"

The Price of Redemption, by ML Nystrom, gutted me.  It was an emotionally heart-breaking, gripping, indescribably heart-rendering read and it's heartwarming moments were the necessary balm for many.  Regardless of it's darkness, it was a story that had-to-be-read.  It's redemption a needed one.  This MC Romance contains a heavy and intriguingly emotional needy storyline, with strong, mighty, and addicting characters.  This is one of those stories that will dominate, as the hidden yet slowly developing sacrificial hero will bring out all of the feels as his redemption will be a long, winding, and messy one.  So, hold on for an MC ride that will be quite the read....

Wow.  And, I mean, WOW.  I am blown away as a result of my most recent read.  The after effects have dominated my mind and have had me a blubbering mess.  Despite being directed by such a beautiful cover and title, I could not have even predicted on the smallest of scales what I would be reading.  I crazy loved so much of it, yet..there was so much that left me speechless for so many different reasons.

The Price of Redemption is a very dark MC story of rival gangs and the Greek mafia, some with normal lives and families, with their varied plight to dominate the world of drug smuggling and smaller legitimate kinds of businesses, and for the more brutal ones, additional human trafficking, child abuse, and human torture.  One of its struggling presidents, Iceman, with a gut-wrenching past, is at a desperate and unknown crossroads as he begins to claw at normalcy.  Enter Gabriella.  The Scandanavian Savior for his group, and one such man, that despite her initial reasons, turns her unbridled love, compassion and unwavering strength into the conduit that brings them through the biggest of wars.

I adored Iceman and Gabriella, and so very much need to squeeze hug Ricky, as they all blindly made their way through such horrid times and heartache.  It was beautiful, it was breathtaking, it was brutal and ugly....it was indescribable.  Much of the brutality containing such ruthless and barbaric actions which contain triggers that were difficult to read, digest, and absolutely comprehend.  But....that one part....that one part I had to read over and over and over again as my mind could not register it's meaning.  But, when it did....an ugly crying fest took over and lasted for quite a while.  Because....wow.

The Price of Redemption is clearly a massive story with such an underlyingly beautiful storyline and such a darkly winding plot.  It's multi-layered characters, many of which are mighty and strong, chivalrous and ultimately wonderfully human, that despite living in a ruthless and sometimes unforgiving world, battle with not only their ever-present palpable demons, but also those less forgiving and decidedly lead by greed and savagery, and that turns into the most nail-bitingly inhumane course of action, that had this reader skim-reading as such a process will find any reader in quite the state of emotions.  As a result, this was undoubtedly quite the read....

That all being said, with it's deep, dark, and varied plot, also came a bit of confusion as there were some unanswered questions that left this reader confused as a result.  There were also so many horrifying triggers, that in this reader's opinion, sensitivity should be indicated as a warning, as they were so realistic, nerve-racking and so difficult to read.  In addition, it's ending felt a bit rushed that despite it being part of a "Am I really reading this, reeealllly?", it needed to be blissfully experienced by the reader.

Nevertheless, The Price of Redemption, by ML Nystrom, is a powerfully intense yet beautifully heartwarming read for readers who enjoy a really good MC story.

What a wonderful start to a new series, one that I am one hundred percent invested in reading after having read the first book. The Price of Redemption is quite unique in its style and content. Yes, there are the normal MC elements like rival MC clubs but it goes beyond that by so much.

The lead characters are absolutely perfect together, well they would be if they settled and accepted that they are meant to be. 😂 Although, for someone like Iceman who has been by himself for a long time, having Gabriella pop into his life really upsets his apple cart. I like both lead characters who are so strong in different ways. Iceman’s strength is obvious and his leadership skills are why he is the president of the Dutchmen MC. Gabriella’s strength is deeper and just as fierce, I admired her selflessness and caring manner.

The suspense element in this story is absolutely incredible and at times you literally cannot see how things can possibly be resolved. I love an unpredictable story and this one is every bit that and more. A sensational ending, one that isn’t exactly ’the perfect ending’ for some people but for this story it definitely is in my book.

This was a new to me author and one I'll definitely be reading more from in the future, including the next book in the series, as omg what a way to start it!
This was dark, raw and gritty with no holds barred, which is my favourite kind of book when it's not a suspense.
Honestly I thought I had read and experienced some gritty mc's then there was this book...
I think for me personally I found myself so disappointed, for lack of a non spoilery word, in some of the secondary characters, that it sullied my opinion for the first half. But by the second half I stopped noticing as much because I couldn't stop turning the pages fast enough to find out the fate of this opposites attract couple.
Highly recommend for anyone who loves their books on the darker side.

Iceman & Gabriella

Cold. Calm. Deadly. As the president of the Dutchmen MC, he's respected for all three. By respected anyone crossing him knows the consequences. Owing and not paying is not healthy.
He was offered collateral but would he accept?

She would do anything for the little boy she'd raised—anything. Being with the MC would protect them. What about her heart?

He'd never reacted this way to a woman and a kid. When danger got too close would he send them away? Would he have a chance before the enemy encroached on his territory?

As advertised a dark MC romance with new characters and enemies. The beginning of an exciting new series.

Review covers 4 books.

I really enjoyed these 4 books, each a story on its own.
What I didn't enjoy, was they are tagged as being "a new darker breed of bikers" Nope, sadly they aren't, what they are though, are very very similar to several other really gritty biker series I have read. I was disappointed by the similarities hence my low rating.

3 ⭐⭐⭐ - OK or decent reads.
========================
I read it in the box set with the series, but I lost interest in continuing. The premise is good, but I didn't like the execution and development of the story. It's not for me and I read the first in its entirety and the second in half.

One of the best books read in a long time!

Awesome read and refreshing start of a series.

As a constant reader, I moved away from MC reads awhile ago. This book is a refreshing read and the author placed the right emphasis on the story, the characters and the secondary characters. I'll definitely be reading the whole series!

Holy this was one action packed read, had everything I love about a book, mystery, love, violence and some steamy pages. Gabby and Ice are quite the opposite, she's innocent as they come and we'll he's president of a biker club. These two shouldn't work at all, but holy do they ever, love how they started out as friends, well kinda, and moved on from there. This is my first read from this author and I can't wait to continue with these boys.

I’m a huge fan of ML Nystrom’s Dragon Runners series so I was over-the-moon excited when she announced a new, grittier MC series called The Dutchmen. I love her characterization of ‘hard men with soft hearts’ and the accuracy in her portrayal of MC club members. From the club bunnies to the full-patched members, she captures the odd dynamic of family mixed with a brutal hierarchy which makes the mini-society of MC clubs so fascinating.

This series is much more intense than her Dragon Runners series. Our totally swoon-worthy hero Ice has a tragic past which has warped his moral compass—or so we are led to believe. Despite being the most feared man in a 100-mile radius of their marina, he has a soft spot for kids that won my heart in the first chapter. I loved hearing his internal struggle with the tight spot his club had entered and his longing for family life.

Our heroine is the reluctant house mouse, Gabriella. I loved her continued sacrifice for her family and her ability to stand up for herself. She may be called ‘Mouse’ but she’s more like a Mama bear.
Ice notices her steely resolve and appreciates her inner strength. Their interplay will melt your heart. I love books where the hero pushes the heroine, and he loves her for pushing back. Those truly 50/50 relationships are rare in romance novels, and even rarer in MC romance. This is why I love ML Nystrom’s books. Her heroines aren’t intimidated and won’t stand for bad behavior.

The rest of the Dutchmen MC club are just as fascinating as the main characters. I loved the drama between Nutter and his women. Rebel melted my heartstrings as he matured through the book, but Railroad stole my heart. He has a quiet maturity, level head, and emotional intelligence that make him totally swoon-worthy. I’m so excited that he is the main character in the next book.

Overall, The Dutchmen is a must-read series. While I must warn sensitive readers of the intense biker-violence, kidnapping, discussion of drugs & human trafficking, and gruesome flashbacks to child abuse, I highly recommend this series for the heartwarming romance, family-like drama of an MC, and exceptional storytelling.

Following a series of books with a much lighter feeling to them, ML Nystrom is back in the gritty world of the MC. Here we have the first in the Dutchmen MC series, which certainly gets the series off to a bang.

Iceman is the club President and definitely lives up to his name until Gabrielle ends up in his clubhouse as a marker on a debt owed by her uncle. Gabrielle is able to melt some of the ice that has been a permanent fixture around his heart. He has needed to be ruthless and without feeling to keep the club alive and probably even more as the events unfold and the club is threatened from multiple angles. Equally he needs Gabrielle and Ricky, her cousin who is guardian of. Both bring out a softer side in him and provide him with a different perspective on life.

Gabrielle is so courageous when she walks into the dragon's den and she doesn't flinch with what is going on around her. She shouldn't fall for Iceman, knowing who he is and what has done and what is currently involved in but the heart wants what the heart wants.

The community of the MC is still here, even though this is a grittier read. The men pull together to protect Gabrielle and Ricky as well as each other and the club. They even show that the women and children are precious and should be cared for, respected and looked after first and foremost.

There was plenty of action and double crossing to keep you on your toes trying to figure out what's going on and who can be trusted. Parts of the book are graphic when it comes to violence of the club so you need a strong stomach but rest assured that this is a belter of a read. It keep me on my toes, eagerly devouring every word from the first until the last. I couldn't put it down. I am very interested to see where this series takes us next, especially with this ending.

Summary:
FMC is the niece of a man who owes the MMCs mc money. She is sent to the mc to pay off his bill. However, the MMC recognizes that there is something else going on. The FMC feels she has no choice. If she does not go to the mc her "cousin" will not be taken care of. The "cousin" is actually the child she has raised since his birth. His birth father is the uncle who sent her to the club.

The MMC decides to make the FMC his house mouse in order to protect her and her innocence. He does begin to fall for her. This is the story of him trying to stay away from her but failing to do so. Also, we have suspense as someone is betraying the club.

Review:
This is the darker side of a mc romance. I started reading this author with her book Mute. Which is still one of my favorites. This is a great start to a new mc club series. I will admit at times the story was a little slow. But you do come to love both the MMC and FMC.

The Price of Redemption is the first book in The Dutchmen MC series written by author M.L. Nystrom. It tells the story of Iceman, who’s the chapter’s president, and like his name, is as cold as ice. He’s been known to strike fear in his enemies, and one does not want to be on his bad side.

In this story, Bookie launders the money for the club, and he finds himself owing the club a lot of money. However, Bookie sends his 22-year-old niece, Gabriella, as a marker while getting the club what he owes. Gabriella does not want to be there, but she has her own reasons for going along with her Uncle’s plan.

The Price of Redemption is a darker MC romance that’s emotional at times and deals with some heavy topics that can be triggers for some. The storyline grabbed my attention from the first page, and I soon became completely immersed. Although, it might have been me, but I had some questions at the end which I wished were answered. Even so, it didn't deter me from enjoying the story. I would definitely recommend adding it to your TBR list and look forward to the next book in the series.

This is the first book in a new series by ML Nystrom. Iceman is known as the coldest and most ruthless biker around. His past still affects his present. Gabriella is sent to the club by her uncle. She only agrees because of something her uncle holds over her head. Ice knows right away this girl has no place around the club and that she couldn’t possibly be there without there being more to it. Something about her calls to Ice but can de dethaw his heart enough to see what he has right in front of him? Gabby is drawn to Ice as well but his actions confuse her. Her feelings surrounding him confuse him as well. Will Ice be able to figure out what he wants before its too late? There is so much going on surrounding the club and they can’t figure it all out. Gabby and Ice are fantastic characters. There is a big age gap but this isn’t a problem for either of them. Gabby helps in ways Ice never even though anyone would be able to. He childhood was beyond horrible. It seems his past isn’t done with him either. Gabby manages to give Ice a family he thought he never wanted. This book was a fantastic read. ML Nystrom has become one of my go to authors. Congrats on another fantastic book ML Nystrom. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

This story was a rough start for me. It didn’t flow as effortlessly as the 2nd half of the book. I found myself wondering if I was even going to finish it but I continued on seeing as the author is one that I have always enjoyed. If you find yourself in the same boat as me don’t give up. The energy of the book changes about half way through and it will suck you in.

Iceman wasn’t looking like a man that I would call a book boyfriend or fall head over heels with at the start. His attitude doesn’t properly reflect the true man inside him. Maybe that’s what the author wanted seeing as his name is Iceman. He can definitely freeze anyone out.

Once Gabriella enters the scene we start seeing cracks in Iceman. Maybe he isn’t as cold hearted as he seems. Gabriella is a victim to her circumstances and is doing what she can to protect the person she loves the most.

Gabriella’s strength to survive and protect those she loves shows how strong of a woman she is. That’s a woman that can take on Iceman and thaw him out completely.

This new series will be one that I’m going to keep an eye out for to see what comes in the future. Not all MC books are made alike and this one proves it.

Half and half

The Dutchmen in the verge of collapse. That's the words I get at the end.
Ice, as his name is apt with his character. Very cool headed and with long way of thinking before action. A good trait being a Prez. But, to get the action so little in between and the finale was way over 70%ish... I'm Thorn between like and bored.

And to see the MC depend solely on him? Not good. I mean, no tech guy? His officers can only party like prospects? Eh this Dutchmen aren't getting any love from me.

The romance part? Once again, Ice coolness and too long to made up his mind felt like a school boy with his crush... Even the steamy scenes didn't get me at all.

The three star all goes for the far and between darker MC part.

While for Ice background, it can be complete gut wrenching drama, or complete dark, but fall short with how simple the author laid it all out along with his "healing" in one swoop.

Overall, half n half for me. I think it got potential for a dark MC romance with all it's drama and heart-felt angst but fall short.

And what happened to Ice before that epilogue??!!! Huge hole there

So Good!!!

Iceman/William was the Prez for the Dutchmen MC and he lived up to his name with ice in his veins. As soon as they realized that Bookie/Roger had stole money from the club Bookie sent his cousin to the clubhouse door. She was Iceman’s to have while he tried to get the club’s money back. Roger not only left his cousin behind he also left his son behind as well. Gabriella was really the person who looked after the little boy anyway and she loved him so much.

As Gabriella settled into Iceman’s cabin as his “mouse” she was starting to warm the Iceman. Could he let go of his hard interior for the woman he was becoming attached to? At this same time the club was under great pressure from all sides and new a war was coming and it was one they may not survive. Maybe the best thing would be to push Gabriella away in order to keep her safe.

This book was fast paced with tons of action and steam. Just wait until you get to the epilogue because it was a jaw dropper. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series because I was so drawn into this one.

The Price of Redemption was nothing like I thought it was going to be. I mean I knew that I would love it because I love this author, but man, I'm already hooked to this new series. Gabriella has been made to offer herself up to the ruthless President of the Dutchmen MC, Iceman, because of her uncle's mistakes for reasons I'm not going to come off of. He's not exactly the warm & fuzzy type while she has a big heart & would do anything for those she loves. He did some things that I didn't exactly appreciate, so he pissed me off more than once, and lucky for him, she's the forgiving type unlike me LOL! This story kept me on the edge of my seat dropping loud f-bombs as all kinds of things were revealed all the way to the end, and hell, I feel like we don't even have all the information so I'll be sitting her waiting impatiently for more of the series, and I feel like you'll do the same after hitting those one click buttons on The Price of Redemption, so you know what to do now. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This is the first book in a new MC series by this author. Despite everything else that was going on in the story, I was completely invested in the location. The story takes place along the Mississippi River between MN and WI. I actually honeymooned in Redwing, MN so all the landmarks mentioned in the book were near and dear to me.

The book is a dark MC story. Lots of MC action and a heroine with true grit. Gabriella will do anything to protect her family. She walks into the lion's den and holds her own against a dangerous MC prez. For his part, Iceman isn't quite sure what to make of Gabriella either. He wants to treat her badly and use her for his purposes. But something makes him hold back.

Hearts come into play and when big sacrifices have to be made, Iceman knows what he has to do.

Loved the secondary characters. It will be interesting to see where this MC lands going forward. LOVED the epilogue! Looking forward to catching up with this family again.

The Price of Redemption is the first book that I've read by M.L. Nystrom and wow! What a gripping MC romance!

This is the first book of what I'm sure will be an epic series, by the way this book was written.

The story of Iceman and Gabriella is angsty, filled with emotional scenes and the character development is off the charts! Their story will suck you in and leave you wanting more by the end.

After not reading an MC romance for awhile, this was a fantastic way to get back into this trope. Iceman lives by his persona of being a cold-hearted MC President. He is beyond loyal to his club and the way his character was written was phenomenal. You really feel what he's going through when he has to make some hard decisions.

Gabriella is thrown into the middle of the biggest family mess you can imagine. Her Uncle basically puts her up for collateral for a debt he owes The Dutchmen. It's a screwed up story but one that isn't as bad as you think it will be. Gabriella's character was amazing. She's strong and willing to do what she must to make sure her cousin is looked after.

I really enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading the other brother's books!

Gabriella is an innocent pawn used to pay a debt she was never involved in creating, but the prize is one she is willing to pay all for. Iceman is a man so cold that even the hot, young bribe in front of him has no power to melt him. What seems a simple misconduct in business turns into chaos and war no one was expecting.

A lot of MC romances tend to soften the characters to make them not so intimidating. That doesn’t happen in this book. The men are as cold and rough from the beginning to the end - and it somehow makes them all the better for it. Although there is some major violence, it isn’t too graphic or gratuitous. The book walks the line exceptionally well on the dark but still easily enjoyable MC romance.
