Jonathan Hickman is an American comic book writer and artist. He is known for creating the Image Comics series The Nightly News, The Manhattan Projects and East of West, as well as working on Marvel Comics' Fantastic Four, FF, and S.H.I.E.L.D. titles. In 2012, Hickman ended his run on the Fantastic Four titles to write The Avengers and The New Avengers, as part the "Marvel NOW!" relaunch. In 2013, Hickman wrote a six-part miniseries, Infinity, plus Avengers tie-ins for Marvel Comics. In 2015, he wrote the crossover event Secret Wars. - Wikipedia

Spätestens als die führenden wissenschaftlichen Köpfe der Marvel-Welt die fatale Entscheidung trafen, eine fremde Erde für das Überleben ihrer eigenen zu opfern, war klar, dass sich die Spielregeln des Erzähluniversums ändern werden. Mittlerweile gehört die Vernichtung der Parallelwelten zum Alltag, auch wenn man sich der Hintergründe noch nicht bewusst wird. Die Ausleuchtung der moralischen Folgen und auch die Auseinandersetzung zwischen den einzelnen Heldenteams darüber wird zum Kernstück des ersten Bandes des Dreiteilers. Wirklich aufregend ist dies jedoch, entgegen der Annahme, leider nicht, denn die unglaubliche Spannung, die Hickman einst aufbaute, verliert sich in zunehmend komplizierter ausfallenden Beziehungsstrukturen, so dass man schon genau aufpassen muss, wer mit wem kollaboriert, um nicht den Anschluss an die Geschichte zu verlieren.Künstlerisch gibt es durchgehend pragmatische, aber durchaus attraktive, Zeichnungen zu sehen. Die Fortsetzung der Ereignisse aus "Alles vergeht" hätte eigentlich nicht viel falsch machen können, wenn sie sich nicht in zunehmend unübersichtliche Einzelstränge aufgesplittet hätte. Diese unnötige Verkomplizierung der Erzählstruktur trübt zwar weder die Kurzweiligkeit, noch den damit einhergehenden Unterhaltungswert des Bandes, macht die epische Dimension aber leider im Nu zunichte. Da wäre mehr drin gewesen.

I finished reading this a while ago, but didn't want to leave a review until I had finished the whole story.

Pros: I liked it that the main characters (i.e., the Illuminati) had to make some hard choices to protect everything they loved.

Cons: Some of the choices as to who was a member of the Illuminati didn't make a lot of sense to me. And this was vindicated later in the story as those I thought shouldn't be members turned out to cause the most trouble. And the people who made the choices should have been able to predict these problems in advance.

Also, considering who the Illuminati are, I also don't understand how they had so much trouble hiding from the people sent up against them, seeing as they had access to knowledge and skills far in advance of the people trying to find them. Yes, I understand that it made the story more dramatic, but it really didn't make a lot of sense.

In my opinion, it would have made more sense for the chasers to sully their own morals by enlisting the brains they were missing in their team from the side of the bad guys (e.g., convincing Doctor Doom to be on their side) rather than just giving the capabilities they shouldn't have had.

A build up of Avengers and New Avengers-the first few are complicated especially if you do not know the ins and outs o the previous storyline about the multiverses and the desperate last choice to save Earth.
A multitude of characters build up, Avengers, S.H.I.E.L.D, The Illuminati etc and it gets confusing to see who wants to do what and when. However it is the slow build up and is needed as it picks up in the last few sections ready for part two.
