Despite the game itself being pretty tame and not all that thrilling, the characters’ scheming, plotting and betrayals are fascinating to watch, and honestly, I am here for the chaos and Yumeko’s gambling ‘insanity’ <3

With so many votes going to Yumeko, we are getting near to the finish line but don't know what we currently have. And I found Tobami's final statement to be intriguing. There are only a few chapters left, and I want the election to be over before the timing of the chapters becomes irregular.

Constant strategizing during a simple-seeming game played in an odd setting gives this volume a bit of an edge over the previous two. It helps that it has the protagonist and her sidekick playing against one of the leaders in the election vote tally and is another complete leg of the race.

Whilst I've been a huge fan of this series, this arc is simply taking a lot of fun out of it and I honestly just want it over. Yumeko vs Mary was fun and the game in this was get people on our side to see who screws over who first, against Yumeko and Wheels, yes I know she's got a name but she isn't worth noting because there is no character there. She's been built up to high heaven, set up to be the smartest person in the room and when it finally comes down to her gamble, nothing happens. The most interesting part of this was the president's sister talking to the president which was one whole page, that was great more of that please!

Niezwykła „Akademia”, niezwykli uczniowie i niezwykłe wybory do samorządu szkolnego. W tej historii nic nie może być nadmiernie „zwyczajne” i na każdym kroku można się spodziewać dawki szalonych pomysłów. W tomiku czternastym na czytelnika czekają kolejne wydarzenia związane ze wspomnianymi wyborami. W gronie faworytów do stołka przewodniczącego liczy się już zaledwie kilku uczniów. Każdy z nich to odmienny charakter i inna motywacja pchająca go do zdobycia tego stanowiska. Wszystkich ich łączy jednak jedno – są gotowi pokonać każdego przeciwnika, który stanie na ich drodze.

W tomiku 14-tym skupiamy się głównie na „grze” odbywającej się w specjalnym budynku. Miejscu, gdzie zebrało się kilku uczniów, aby zawalczyć o głosy. „Potyczka” oczywiście nie będzie należeć do tych łatwych i przyjemnych. Hazardowe „szaleństwo” wylewa się tu dosłownie z każdej strony, nie tylko przyciągając uwagę czytelnika, ale również serwując mu porcję „głębszych” treści. W „grze”, której jesteśmy tutaj świadkami liczy się bowiem nie tyle szczęście, ile przede wszystkim przebiegłość, analityczny umysł i brak jakikolwiek skrupułów. Każdy z nastolatków może być przeciwnikiem, którego należy się obawiać. Nawet jeśli zawiązywane są jakieś sojusze, to zawsze należy być gotowym na wszystko. Twórca kolejny raz zapewnia więc dawkę treści, która zaskakuje i trzyma w napięciu do samego końca. Prym wiedzie tutaj oczywiście Yumeko. Twórca zadbał jednak o to, aby historia nie skupiała się tylko i wyłącznie na niej. Mamy więc okazję

I think I realized with this volume how selfless Terano is as a person. She's been built up as a rival (and hater) of Kirari who'd rather rise in the election rankings on her own terms, and Kawamoto was able to expand on that here towards the end. How she was interacting with the "NPCs" seems to contradict that statement in a way, though. The time apart between volumes might not have helped me there. At least Yumi's past got elaborated on!

Fascination Hall may have lacked the drama of the Tower of Doors, but there were some fun reveals in and out of it (hello, Momobami twins!). I also liked seeing Tsubomi again to reflect on her growth from Volume 2. I do agree with other readers that the Student Council arc is starting to run out of fuel. However, I'm still interested in seeing how the results will play out and who will come out on top (potentially not Kirari).

my fave kkg pairing!!

i lowkey wanted suzui to win bcuz he's a character with a lot of untapped potentional. the anime-only tarot ep taps into this but it's not actually canon, so i guess suzui's character is just like, submissive for now.

Clever games as always, but why was Totobami so dumb though? She was hyped up as the best and then lost in a game where even I could have beaten Yumeko. Like… what was that? So stupid.

4.5/5 stars, just to be clear.

This is one of those moments in a story that I realized just how ultimately positive this series is. As I've seen a lot of criticism directed at this series in the past - especially derived from comparisons to "Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor", talking about how this series seems incredibly self-indulgent and ultimately void of motifs or compelling motivations. I don't think so. In fact, more and more I notice the similarities between both these series - they're ultimately about the same thing: human nature.

This series is self-indulgent. I love it despite that. But it also comes at human nature from an angle of experiencing the ultimate "fun" (at least, the series treats it as such) of dealing with risk-reward scenarios, of taking a chance in people's good nature or deciding to backstab them. I find it very refreshing to paint these scenarios in this way because it highlights one's choices to trust other people or look after themselves. "Kaiji", keeps this, but makes it about survival and choosing to ultimately talk about how those who truly believe in people's good intentions and that the world is a nice place will end up suffering from it.

Maybe it's just me, but I find both to be alluring. This series, however, makes it a little more fun and thrilling for me.
