Ms. Anderson has written another delightful adventure for Grace and Lucky. The pressure is on for Grace in this one as the holiday is almost here and her son, Oliver, is arriving for his first visit to Covenstead. Twists and turns and a dramatic conclusion made this an engaging cozy paranormal story to read from the first page to the last.

This is the sixth book in the Midlife Medicine series.

Ben Swanson, Grace's boyfriend, is looking to make his gingerbread cookie recipe perfect in anticipation of Oliver's visit home for Christmas. Ben is the owner of Black Crow Books. Grace has invited some friends for dinner and cookie decorating.

Grace is in the bookstore when Wendy Horton confronting Ben about twenty books she ordered for an upcoming book club that she hosts. Grace is put on the spot when asked if she'll be coming to the next book club.

A visit to Tenley Chapman has Grace trying to soothe Tenley's frazzled nerves. Tenley is desperately trying to get her psychic abilities in order. When Tenley shares that Oliver may start a family soon, Grace has to wonder if Tenley has a feeling or if she has a 'feeling'. When Grace goes to leave, Tenley's reaction is out of the blue, and cries out a warning. Unfortunately, Tenley has nothing else to go on.

When the husband of the victim calls Doc Ham to report his wife dead and Grace meets Doc Ham at the residence, it is proof the Tenley's reading wasn't a fluke. Later, Tenley shares with Grace that she had a horrific nightmare, and in the nightmare, that she was very afraid.

Only one clue, Tenley's warning, and three suspects, Grace worries that there may be another victim. A book provides a clue to the murder, which Grace further investigates. She encounters a couple of young girls and needs to decide if they are friends or foes. Grace wants to solve this case before her son arrives.

This was a fun read, and I had no idea and was surprised at finding out the killer. Lucky, Grace's familiar, was funny and a tad naughty. I enjoyed the telepathy dialog between the two of them. Very enjoyable read.

I received a complimentary copy and I have voluntarily reviewed this book.

This time will be different,” Grace said. “I plan on outsmarting whoever’s behind the atrocity. I have a bit of a head start"

In a year and a half Grace has been in Covenstead she's had more mysteries than clinic time with Doc Ham and the holidays don't seem to be slowing them down as the hostess of the town' s book club comes to her demise while Grace is planning Oliver's visit to her home. She wants this to go well, but her focus is split between the murder and her son. Will the local author hold the key and will Ben stop fussing over the gingerbread cookies? Has Tenley recognized her neophyte powers might be the foretaste of why she's living Covenstead? And have Carl and Lucky called a truce?

Pull out your mistletoe and get ready for a holiday themed paranormal cozy as Amorette Anderson whips up a great addition to this series. And, with the heat the summer of 2021 is generating? It's a great escape! Highly Recommended 5/5

Such a wonderful series!

I can so relate to Grace! I love the fact she’s that little bit older. I love the writing style. Easy-to-read but the murder was not easy-to-solve! There is not one negative thing that I can find. I cannot recommend this series enough!

Read books in order! you will love all of them!
The head of the local book club is-well ,lets say very intense- is murdered in her own home shortly after the meeting comes to an end. The murder weapon is one of the Host own kitchen knives. Who could have done such a deed ? This close to Christmas? And why over a possible dispute of where the book club should meet? Tensley had a physic "view" of a murder, but was it true ? Tensly is just coming into her powers, her familiar Mercury is with her. Can she get anymore information for Grace if it was a psychic vision?
Grace and Lucky will hve their witts tested. Does it have anything to do with the founding familes of Covenstead? Can it be related to a near century old vow to find justice? Will Grace solve this one before her son Oliver is due to come for a visit? Will Grace's boyfriend come up with the perfect gingerbread recipe? He wants Grace's son to like him, and be comfortable here and with their relationship. This very twisty, with friends, frenemies and allies. Take the time your going to want to read it straight through to the end!

This is a great series! I just powered through this book in one afternoon! We finally get to meet Grace's son Oliver and he's a nice man. And he and Ben seem to get along too. The murder mystery was well done and not easy to figure out. This author does a good job of leading you through the case without giving away the answer.

Grace has planned a Christmas party when Oliver arrives from Europe for a long overdue visit. Ben Swanson, owner of Black Crow Books and Grace's significant other, is trying to perfect his Gingerbread cookie recipe in anticipation of Oliver's visit. Tenley Chapman has a feeling something is going to happen. Grace receives a call from Doc Hamm that Wendy Horton has been found dead in her home after hosting the book club.
Tenley indicates she has had a dream and is fearful someone else is going to be found dead. Grace wants to solve this case before Oliver arrives so she can spend time with him.
Amorette Anderson has done a wonderful job with Book #6 in the Midlife Medicine series. Covenstead is a very magical place. I love the characters in this series. Once you start reading the book you will not want to stop.
I recommend this series. I received an advance copy. This is my honest opinion.

Another fun book in a favorite series

This is another wonderful book in a favorite series by a favorite author!! Grace is planning a Christmas vacation and her son is coming in. She hasn't seen him for a long time since he moved to Europe. How will he like her new home and the people she has grown to love. Especially, what will he think of Ben? To top it all, a local witch is murdered and a snow storm drops several feet of snow. How can Grace plan for Oliver's visit and catch a killer? She does it with grace (pun intended). Read this series if you like cozy mysteries with a paranormal side. You won't be sorry you did.

Grace is expecting her son to visit and she hasn't seen him in a long time, so the last thing she needs is a murder to complicate things even more. Her neighbour, Tenley, has had her first psychic event in front of Grace. In it she is someone else who is terrified and says - "she has a knife". The book club, that Grace has resisted joining, has just finished a book written by a local author. After the monthly meeting, one of the members is murdered - most likely by one of the other members. Grace has to investigate and was worried that she wouldn't get done in time to spend time with her son.

I really like this series and will continue to read it. I just found this book to be a touch more confusing than the rest. There seemed to be too many new characters to keep track of. Also, there was so much talk about the son coming, and it was only discussed in the last few pages as a quick summary of how he was getting along with everyone. I wish we had have had a chapter or two more about the son coming and the meeting between him and Ben. Hopefully we'll see more of him and his girlfriend in the future.

I really enjoyed this, the sixth book In Anderson's Midlife Medicine series. When a body shows up right before Christmas, Grace is called to action to solve the murder. In between preparing for her son Oliver's visit, working as the town clinic's nurse, and spending qualify time with her new neighbor Tenley, her boyfriend, and her pit bull familiar Lucky, Grace finds the time. This book has everything, including animals who help save the day. I received an ARC from the author.

Fun to read

I like the fact that the heroine is not a 20 yr old bombshell but an average middle aged woman. The characters in the book are relatable and fun to read about. She is smart and puts the puzzles together. The magic is a side part of the story but still integral. I like the way the story is woven together.

Another exciting adventure in Covenstead!

This book was another exciting murder mystery. Oliver, Grace's son, finally makes an appearance and more of the town's inhabitants are introduced as well. Some magic is involved, of course. It is fun to see the familiar's shenanigans and contributions. I am looking forward to the next escapade.

Loved the book, Grace is getting pretty good at this. We finally get to see her son, and things go great when he meets Ben. He’s almost too good to be true, don’t let her mess that relationship up because of experience with her ex.
