All Kye wants is a nice guy. Sonny is that guy. Kye thinks he’s full of it.
For months, Kye flirted his cute booty off to get Sonny to ask him out. After Sonny unexpectedly kissed him, Kye thought he was finally going to get his man. That was six weeks ago, and everything has changed. Now Kye can’t stop hiding from Sonny and avoiding his calls. After Sonny stood him up, he’s lost his chance as far as Kye is concerned. Kye has no interest in giving Sonny a second chance. End of story.
Kye makes Sonny insane. Sonny is as unused to being flirted with as he is to being the bad guy. Guys like Kye don’t date guys like him. When he made dinner plans with Kye, Sonny can’t explain what happened. He freaked. Now, he’s had time to think, and he realizes he’s an idiot. Kye obviously genuinely liked him. Unfortunately, no matter how hard Sonny tries, Kye won’t give him the time of day. Sonny has no clue how to fix it.
Kye and Sonny are looking for exactly what they could find in each other. If only they would stop overthinking everything and ruining their lives.

We have two men who can't communicate. How will they ever work out their issues? Kye and Sonny want each other, always have, but why can't they speak to each other? Their sexy times are hot, and the miscommunications are epic. We keep reading, because we want them to work it out ! Each one has self esteem issues, and are afraid to just speak up. Their silence almost costs them their one love.
Here we have a normal couple, two working class guys falling for each other. (Not really that simple but that's what makes it interesting). "I just don't know how to be worthy of you" That right there hits home. It's more important than you could know. This reminds me of the old tuna commercial "Starkist doesn't want tunas with good taste, they want tuna that tastes good" As a young kid I was baffled because I didn't know the difference 🤣 In this story it was a case of 'It's not how much you're worth but what you're worth to me' Sonny kept missing that mark and kept ruining the relationship. Even talking it out with Kye didn't convince him they don't need to be monitarily equal to a partner to be worthy of everything the relationship gives. And this is what constantly aggravated me and I did not enjoy the story. But it's a great talking point and conversation starter (and a great debate depending on all the parameters 😉)
This is the first time I've been truly disappointed in a book by this author. There's always been so much emotion and love in the books I read up until this one. This book didn't have much emotion or love. What little it had felt muted.
Kye's behavior was immature. Sonny just needed a bit of reassurance.

I liked this story with the two men who were perfect for each other only if they could communicate better and stop making assumptions. I loved the scenes around Kye's parents which were funny. I was sad to have such little involvement of Sonny's Mum as she seemed to be close to him and yet although there was mention of a visit there was nothing in there about it. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.
A sweet sort of ending to the series. There's a Christmas special, too, but this feels like it was written as an ending. That might be were my problem is. I was confused by the ending. All the other books have given the reader a glimpse of the next book's MCs. I recognize that the last book can't do that, but
