Ms. Sun is a charming, cash-strapped teaching artist put in charge of a rambunctious group of 10th graders at a public school in the Bronx. While directing her students in a play, Ms. Sun must lift them up while everything around them is falling apart.
Written and performed by acclaimed playwright Nilaja Sun and based on her eight-year experience with arts education in New York City, No Child is an inspiring, multi-character solo show that examines America's broken school system - and reveals the life and love that fill every classroom.
As a teacher, I found a lot of joy in this lovely little story. Of course some parts are predictable but you want some stories to follow a certain rhythm. Best wishes to the author to continue writing.
This really captured the challenges, heartbreaks, laughs, and moments of pure pride and joy that comes from having the privilege of teaching teenagers. They surprise me everyday with their resiliency, their humour, and their capability to rise and meet expectations.
This was a short story on audible. I liked some parts of the narrator but sometimes she got a little annoying with the different voices. The plot was okay. There was a lot of vulgar language.
