The Empty Picture Frame

Rate this book
A series of interconnected short stories that span the twentieth century in art, in passion and in culture. Alongside some of the characters, it is the eponymous mirror that acts as both the symbol of reflection, as well as the device that links these stories. The interlinked tales are full of shamans and gypsies and families torn asunder by war. They also share an observation of the development of the modern art movement. Many of the twentieth century’s key characters in art and literature, politics and sport make cameos, crucially propelling these diverse narratives forward towards a resolution.
