Rate this book
Five books and nearly 2,000 pages of action, adventure, romance, and plenty of laughs!Dragons are back. And they don't want to be your friend.Tori didn't sign up to be a superhero. She signed up for dragon camp, something she thought would involve horseback riding, archery, and laying around the lake. She was really wrong about that―right from the first day of camp when she met the team captains, Jesse and Dirk. They're more like teen drill sergeants. Way too full of themselves. And both kinda hot. But yeah, whatever. She still doesn't want to run laps every morning.Camp, however, turns out to be more than it seems. Tori, along with a dozen other teens, inherited supernatural slayer abilities from ancestors who killed dragons in the Middle Ages. Now a dragon lord threatens to bring dragons back and unleash their powers to overthrow the government. And he knows about the Slayers and plans to take them out beforehand. You won't want to put down this binge-worthy series! (The set also includes two versions of the last book―one for Jesse fans and one for Dirk fans.)“The character development, plotting, and ethical quandaries make this more than a worthy equal of the works of Rick Riordan or Christopher Paolini.” ―Booklist“Part urban fantasy, part superhero tale, this adventure is full of action, drama, and humor, with just a touch of romance.” ―Publishers Weekly Online

A page turner

Jeanette Rallison/ C.J. Hill is a talented writer. This series kept me reading and turning pages, sometimes late into the evening! (Or into the early morning). It was one of those series that's hard to put down and that you dream about at night.

The only thing I didn't like, was that the romantic teen drama drove me a bit nuts. It seemed as if Tori "loved" whoever she was kissing at the moment. I realize this is written for teens, but honestly, the teens I know aren't quite that wishy washy. I was also a bit put off that the main reason she seemed drawn to one guy or another was that he was "hot". I can see that as a starting point, but you would think the relationship would build on something else at the end.

The author wrote two endings for the series. I couldn't decide if this was genius; pleasing all her readers, or if it was a let down. Although I got to "choose" who Tori ended up with at the end of the series (go team Dirk), in some ways it made the story less "real" to me. I will admit, though, it made it tons of fun to debate with my daughter over who was the better guy. (Sorry kiddo, Jesse is so lame).

Overall a great series and fun for teens and adults. Thanks to the author for another great set of books.

Fantastic series!!

I'm new to the pen name C.J. Hill, but I've loved all the Janette Rallison books I've read. And I'm a big fan of fantasy and dragons--so it's win-win, right? Having the complete box set, I was happy not to have to wait for any future books to come out. I was immediately drawn into the story, and was feverishly turning pages, so I could find out what happened next. Many a night, I stayed up into the wee hours of the morning to read more. It was completely addictive! I was so curious about which guy Tori would end up with: Dirk or Jesse--and for a while, couldn't even make up my own mind about which guy I wanted her to be with--and was pleasantly surprised to find alternate endings with each. In fact, the entire last book was rewritten for each guy. Loved it! I especially loved that this is a clean book: no swearing and no sex. Now, I'm going to give it to my teen to enjoy.

A different take on dragon riders!

Anyone who enjoys the Dragonriders of Pern series will enjoy this series. What if dragons were here on Earth and were well-prepared for 21st Century fighting? Highly recommended!

Probably a good YA book but for me it's too many "Teen Geeky Girl-Heartthrob Hot Boy(s)" with secrets about dragons etc etc etc and super powers.
