The Consequence of Loving Me By Kat Singleton (2020/06/04) Rating 3 /5 Stars Disclaimer: All thoughts and opinions are my own. TW: Bullying, death The Consequences of Loving Me is the first book in the Aftershock series. This story starts off on campus where Veronica Cunningham and Maverick Morrison meet. He then asks her to be his roommate since he is in need of a new one. Veronica then agrees because she finds out he is in a relationship and so she thinks there's no way he will ever catch feelings for her. Veronica has had a traumatic past and now she is not interested in anything but one-night stands.
This is a debut novel and I really enjoyed it. The characters were likeable, and the plot was interesting. The book is targeted as an enemy to lovers, but I didn't really think it had that trope. Maverick and Veronica were more like friends to lovers/slow burn romance. I was a little hesitant while reading this story because I thought there was going to be a love triangle really wasn't the case. The hero and his long-term girlfriend break up in the middle of the book, so it wasn't really a love triangle at all. I liked Maverick as how selfless he was as a character. I liked veronica as a heroine, I appreciated that she was flawed and that she owned her flaws. I liked how this was her second chance at love and I loved seeing her character growth throughout the novel. I loved the secondary characters, Lily Aspen and Selma (Maverick’s ex-girlfriend).
I think my favourite part of the book was when we got to finally understand what happened to Connor (Veronica's first love). It was written beautifully, and we got to truly see their love shine. The slow burn romance was nice, however when the characters got together I kind of lost interest. I also didn't like the way that veronica handled her problems, at times I felt her decisions were too childish. I felt like the ending was too rushed. Veronica ended up doing a whole 180 on her personality and it just didn't feel authentic. I would have liked if we had gotten to really see her change instead of just being told that she was different. I really liked the ending. I thought it was bittersweet. I am looking forward to reading the next book. Overall, I would definitely recommend this to someone who is looking for a friend to lovers/slow burn romance.

(ARC provided in exchange for a review) So initially when reading the synopsis for this story I had gone in expecting one thing but got another thing instead I had gone in thinking that Veronica and Maverick were going to have a really fast paced romance but this was much more of a slow burn and it really gave me a chance to know more about the characters while they were on their own. Veronica’s story I feel like is a story that is pretty hit or miss for some people and could be labeled as “cliche” but the author in my opinion did I really good job at portraying her journey of growing and finding herself after dealing with this heavy grief for so long, she felt so real and authentic rather than just some stand in character and I really appreciated that I also really liked seeing Maverick’s journey of figuring out love again after he went through a breakup that didn’t really feel like a relationship and I loved his determination in wanting to help Veronica come out of her shell in such a patient manner If I were to have any complaints I felt like the ending was a little rushed but that doesn’t completely derail the book for me Overall this was a really great debut and I’m really excited to read more from this author!
A beautiful story! I love that we got to see the MCs get to know each other and build a friendship and that and all other issues aka everything to do with our heros girlfriend were worked through and dealt with in a stellar way. No cheating, no fights just lots of self reflection and honesty. It was just really nice to see that.
Everything to do with our heroine's past was very emotional but I loved seeing her forgive herself and get closure, and then finally being able to move on and open her heart to love again. Those last chapters were so good. I loved the reunion scene sigh. Maverick was amazing. His love for her.. and just the fact he was willing to have her any way he could, no matter how small and how much it hurt him. And then after everything, still being there for her in such a meaningful and amazing way. My heart. I loved him.
I already adore all these characters and I am so excited for the next book. I have a feeling it's gonna be so good.
I have mixed feelings about this one solely based on the heroine. Veronica was raised in a fairly wealthy home, where she was sheltered, spoiled, selfish & childish. There was a major loss in her life that led her to close herself off from family, friends & new acquaintances. I did feel for her & the terrible tragedy that occurred at an impressionable time in her life, but her ever present childish behavior, well, I found it difficult to look beyond that. She moves away from home to attend college & again, she lashes out at people & pushes them away. Let's be clear, she experienced something horrible & her guilt, pain & self-loathing perpetuated her behavior...she was in self-preservation mode. Still, she could be very insensitive. She rents a room with other college attendees that try to befriend her with little progress. It takes awhile, but soon, she does open up to a few people but keeps them at arms length. I enjoyed the development of the major cast of characters, there were hints of romance early on which didn't move towards a relationship until well into the story. Maverick, the male MC was kind, thoughtful, intuitive & figured out the puzzle that was Veronica. He tried to ease her guilt, gave her space when she needed it while slowly having feelings that would most likely not be returned. I felt so sad for him, he was genuinely a good guy. This is the first release by this author & I loved her writing style, loved the dual POV'S & enjoyed the plot with the steady pace. Once I reached the 90% mark, my attitude towards Veronica began to change, maybe because she was beginning to change as well. A realization was dawning, easing the incredible strain weighing on her shoulders. This point in the book had me quite tearful, my heart was aching for all connected to a lost life but also from the touching & positive actions from very good people, I won't elaborate, I'll leave that moment for a new reader to enjoy. This was a good story with well written characters & a very quick epilogue. My dislike of the heroine & the desire for a longer epilogue was the deciding factor on the three stars.
This was a good read. It did take me a while to get into it, but once things began to develop I became more intrigued.
In the beginning I was extremely concerned because Maverick was already in a relationship, and I knew he's the main love interest for Veronica (at some point during the book, definitely not immediately) and I wasn't sure how that would develop. Fortunately, it developed well, if not a little conveniently, but it still worked out.
This was a slow burn romance, which was also nice. It gets a bit dull when things are hot right from the start and it's just kind of the same thing the entire book. Veronica's journey was nice to read about and developed well. It felt real, instead of like someone just flipping a switch and poof she's all good now. There was definite development.
I received and ARC in exchange of my honest review.
"You don’t drown by falling in the water; you drown by staying there." — Edwin Louis Cole
These words are responsible for their chance meeting. I had my mind made up about this book. A simple enemies to lovers romance filled with angst and drama between two very different college individuals. Or so I thought. This story is different.
It all begins at the college campus when Maverick urges Veronica to be his housemate. He was in a relationship with his best friend Selm and Veronica was not interested in any kind of romantic relationship expect for one night stands. Maverick judged Veronica before getting to know her and Veronica doesn't want anything to do with him.....or does she?
As a debut novel, it's a good story. I didn't consider it to be an enemies to lovers romance cause they weren't essentially enemies. Just misunderstood individuals. The plot is good. I liked that it didn't have unnecessary teenage angst or drama involved(I had enough of those already) but it does deal with serious issues such as guilt, death, bullying and also a lot of personal growth of the main protagonists. I had a love/hate relationship with Veronica's character. In a way, she had come a long way from the vain and shallow teenage self but she also come off unnecessarily rude at times. Though she always had the best interest at heart for her friends and family. I loved her interactions with Aspen. There are certain laugh out loud moments between these two. Also the slow building friendship between her and Lily, Aspen, Maverick, Selma - is one of the best part of the book. The romance between Maverick and Veronica can be described as slow burn. They achieved an emotional intimacy long before venturing into anything physical. The only negative point is that the story seemed to drag a bit and I was bored before the final outburst. Also the outburst was not angsty but rather than childish and a perfect example of Veronica being Veronica. But other than that I loved this book. The ending made me a bit emotional. Fear not you all won't be crying....too much. Connor's portion of the book made me emotional and I loved the way the author wrote about first love along with the heartbreak that comes with it. But in Veronica's defense, she had a lot to carry than just her broken heart. There is a lot of potential for the secondary characters having their own individual stories in the future. I would love to read more about Selma, Aspen and Lily.
I enjoyed my time with Veronica and Maverick and if you like small town college romance with strong heroine and witty banter and great characters then its definitely for you. It was my first Kat singleton book but definitely not my last one. I would love to read more of her stories. As far as consequences of loving this book goes, I am happy with mine.
Can you guys hear that? That brutal ripping sound? Yeah, that’s the sound of my heart breaking while reading this *bawls*.
Reading this, I felt the exact same way I felt when watching 10 things I hate about you for the first time, not because they’re the same, different plots and all but I got the same overwhelming feeling of just.... feeling. Feeling too much, thinking too much.
There were some really deep, strong emotional themes about love, about allowing yourself to be loved and they were done so admiringly well. I truly, wholly loved this one, not just for its themes of love but also about loss, about forgiving yourself. I felt so much for both Maverick and Veronica (first of all did I mention how obsessed I am with these names?). It’s a hard thing to recover from when you lose someone you loved so much, it changes you, it consumes you. Kat really showed that through Veronica and did a splendid job of it too.
I’m honestly shocked that this is a debut, it was way too good to be one. The writing was fantastic, the character development on point, and the dialogue made me swoon. Case in point:
“You think you’re selfish and I think you’re selfless. You think there are consequences for falling in love with you and I think they’re benefits. You think you destroy what you love but I think you heal it. Because you’ve healed me. You’ve taught me what it is to love someone, unconditionally, and to love them for who they are, not for who you want them to be.”
Also:
“You’re scared, and baby, I get why you’re scared—I do. I’m scared, too. I don’t want to lose you, but I would rather have you for a little while than never at all. I would rather have any moment life will give me with you than play it safe.”
Can you hear my heart screaming?
Another thing I really loved seeing was Maverick’s development and his relationship with Selma at the beginning, another aspect I felt Kat portrayed amazingly. Realizing that you’re in a relationship because it’s comfortable and because you’re afraid of change is something I’m sure many can relate to and I loved that it was discussed. I would’ve liked to seen more of it but I’m already pretty happy with how it was portrayed.
A fantastic debut and I can’t wait to see more from this author!
I collect other people’s imperfections. I cherish them when people have them.
Veronica Cunningham is the sort of character that you read a blurb about and immediately pass the worse sort of judgement. Stuck up, bitchy, rude, you name it add a Gossip Girl label worthy of Blair Waldorf and that’s about the persona you’d imagine Veronica as, just the blonde Serena version.
And then Kat gives you a character with more depth than the Atlantic and guilt as dark as the night sky. There is so much heartache wrapped up into the cold icy exterior you almost don’t want to be her friend.
“Look, we don’t know her story so before you go and write her off as some bitch, maybe consider there’s more to it. Maybe she’s just hard to get to know.”
And yet, brush stroke by brush stroke Veronica’s story becomes something that resembles a tragedy that is not only relatable but one that you find yourself submersed in, not even knowing you are sucked out by the rip current of it all. Kat’s word are not those of a debut author, not by any means. Not only is she able to write a character with a facade and a separate, softer interior she’s able to write Maverick with a bleeding heart and charming smile with the same amount of depth and plausibility.
From the very first page the dialogue is flowing and the characters are no longer flat words but the people standing beside you and the conversations surrounding you.
It was the best night of my life. It led to the best year of my life. And then, it led to the worst times of my life—to the hell I’m still living in.
But my favorite part of The Consequence of Loving Me? The secondary character that took up no more than two brief chapters and went on to live an entire lifetime between the pages. Not only did I want MORE of this character but I ached, cried and yelled for MORE. In the amount of time it would take you to inhale and slip beneath the waves Kat brought to life a tale of young love and regret. One where pain can prevent you from feeling the love around and forgiving yourself.
In the first book of The Aftershock series debut author Kat Singleton showcases her incredible writing capabilities and complex character layers. For fans of Kandi Steiner, AL Jackson and small town romances with a dash of angst, The Consequence of Loving Me is a breathtaking journey worthy of Five Stars and more.
But I am telling you right now that you don’t have to love yourself. You don’t even have to like yourself, because I love you enough for the both of us.
The Consequence of Loving Me is am amazing debut novel. It is emotional, heartbreaking, hopeful, funny and steamy. I am super impressed. This is the story of Veronica, the Ice Princess, who doesn’t care what people think. She lives her life without entanglements or relationships. Yet she isn’t who you think she is. She’s a young woman shrouded in guilt, despair and who has closed her heart. Maverick was this unwavering good guy...with enough spice to make him likable and realistic. A random encounter with Maverick leads them to becoming roommates and friends. Veronica considers him “safe” because he is in a long relationship so she starts to open herself up to him and they get close. But what happens when his relationship suddenly ends? Can she open up her heart to him or does she stay closed off forever? The story flows well by weaving some of the past into the story so you get a firsthand account of what happened to Veronica. I also liked all the characters, even the secondary characters were really good. This story had twists and turns that kept me engaged and shredded my heart. I thought I would hate Veronica but I loved her as I got to know her and understand her. She had so many layers that I just wanted to peel back to find out her story. Watching her and Maverick and the fight they had to fight was both tough and beautiful. This is one of those books that you finish and go “WOW, that was just everything” and then wipe a tear away. Overall I definitely recommend this book! I received an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
This is a new adult contemporary novel from a debut author. I actually haven't read anything set in college for a while, so this was refreshing and the premise was really promising. It was very easy to get into, especially as things started to heat up and become more complex. It's a very angsty, intense slow burn romance between a rich snobby girl with walls taller than her and a love-stricken guy with a hero complex.
Both characters are very dynamic and somewhat a bit of polar opposites, and their slow burn relationship is off the charts. You can't help but root for both of them together, even if Veronica tends to do everything in her power for them not to be together. I liked how both their problems were something that brought them together, and even if it caused a lot of friction between them, it made them into better people - both for each other and with each other. I actually liked Maverick's character more than Veronica. It's always refreshing to read a guy who deeply cares and is not an alpha male in romance novels. And I also applaud him for calling out to Veronica's issues every time, and doesn't let her trample all over him. His sense of friendship, family, and love is something I also really liked. While I still admired Veronica, her character was entertaining at first, but she was the type you loved to hate. Even though her self-destructive nature can be explained by her past, I didn't find it remotely entertaining, bordering on excessive, at some parts. But I do love her redemption story at the latter chapters of the book.
Kat Singleton is a very promising romance author, and I can't wait to read the second book - featuring Aspen and Lily!
Currently working my way through Kat’s back list 🫡 thought I’d start with her debut novel, The Consequences of Loving Me.
And let me tell you; S T O P what you’re doing RIGHT NOW, and read this, please.
I knew I loved Kat’s writing, but this…. is everything. Absolute perfection.
Veronica, moody, sad, emotionally damaged, FMC, is torn apart from her past. I hurt with her, I cried for her, I understood her. She stays guarded and protecting herself, not letting anyone in.
And then there is Maverick. Sweet, sensitive, amazing, PERFECT, Maverick. Wow, I did not think I could love a fictional character as much as I love Maverick. But W O W he blows “best book boyfriend” O U T of the world. He is so kind, and compassionate, and patient. He is strong willed.
They are not perfect, but they are my perfect.
Read if you love: •All the angst •Slow burn •Emotional Reads •We can’t be together •Growth
this was... hmm. Personally, I didn't like how quick Maverick moved on from Selma? it was a bit unrealistic but I guess it happens. Veronica's growth was touching but frustrating at the same time. However, because I've never endured that kind of trauma, I realised I wouldn't know how it'd affect someone. I cried at the end when she finally faced her fears and saw Connor in a beautiful light. I sobbed, I shit you not. Overall it was rushed, but cute and it definitely shows it was Kat's debut novel. Her other novels were better and more improved.
(4.5 stars) It’s here! I loved reading this and seeing Mav and V’s relationship grow. There were a few scenes that I just adored and I mean I am so in need of Aspen and Lily getting a book! Yes? Yes. Check out Kat’s debut novel!
If I hadn’t already known this was a debut author before diving in, I would have never guessed.
Kat does an amazing job here. Solid plot, solid character development, great detail, stunning dialogue. There are some fun little twists you don’t see coming that smack you right in the feels.
I loved this book. It was a quick read and the main character was relatable in how she used her past traumas to build a shield around herself that the love interest then has to overcome. I love these frenemies to lovers type stories, and this one was particularly well done! Highly recommend
HOLY AMAZINGNESS!!! This book was so damn good, I couldn't put it down from the first page! I adored Veronica and Maverick, such dynamic characters and beautiful writing. A phenomenal debut!
The Consequence Of Loving Me Okay, so I want to say that this book was a real roller coaster of feelings and emotions, each more incredible than the last. A real treasure trove of romance and I totally fell in love with Kat's pen and talent. Who, in addition to being a great author, is also super nice !!
We meet Veronica who hates herself, so at first we don't understand why her feelings about herself are so sad, negative but also dark. We get to know her throughout history and we begin to understand why she stays away from people, why she tried not to get attached and yet when she meets Maverick everything rocks. Veronica was really a breathtaking character, I loved her way of speaking but also of acting, she does not give up and it was really cool to finally have a story where the girl was broken with demons. A colorful character who despite everything she can think of herself, remains beautiful and strong !! To live what she experienced you must have immeasurable strength! Throughout my reading I had enormous respect for Veronica, she was sublime and magical. For Maverick, then there, Maverick was surely one of the most adorable characters that I had the chance to meet in my life. He is kind, sweet, sexy, funny, attentive, loving and courageous. On top of all that, Maverick is the kind of man with a gigantic heart just like his kindness and generosity. I was bowled over by the protagonist in the heart of Gold. The story was beautiful and moving. The story about Connor absolutely broke me and I cried knowing that I had not had the chance to meet him. Even if Connor was not physically present in the book, he is one of his characters who touch us because of their beauty and innocence. And despite everything, I really believe that from beyond he could help both Veronica and Maverick to find themselves and to love each other. I don't have the words to describe the beauty of this story but also the sadness that I felt when reading certain passages. This book deserves 5 stars and more, I highly recommend it. A magical and extraordinary romance that deserves a lot. 🌺❤
This story dragged… I couldn’t vibe with the fmc. She was annoying and too self deprecating. I also couldn’t vibe with the mmc being in a long term committed relationship for almost the first half of the book. I love Kat, I just don’t think this one was for me.
I really enjoyed Kat's debut novel The Consequence of Loving Me. This story is about love, loss, forgiveness, and healing. Maverick and Veronica, how much love he has for her. The paintings that Mav bought, y'all that part of the book, SO good. This book is such a good read. Beautifully written. ❤
I really enjoyed this book Veronica was a piece of work who really guarded her heart. She met a match in Maverick who really tested her and showed her what friendship and more could be. She had a rocky road and really had to find her way to forgive herself and let go of her past to open herself up to more than the shallow relationships she allowed herself. The growth and change in her make this book so good and so thought provoking! I loved this new author and can’t wait to see what else she does next!
As always write this I'm still conflicted about rating this book. It's one of those good 3 stars reads that you enjoyed but it's just not quite for 4 stars, so maybe leave it at 3.5 🌟
This book is not a long one, around 240 pages. So when I passed 100th page I was really beginning to wonder how is this going to play out. Why? Because I got the feeling that the main characters weren't even interested in each other, not even attracted. The heroine wasn't interested at all, and the hero made me feel like he generally didn't like her as a person. That kind of put me off and really if there weren't POV headers on the chapters I wouldn't ever say that these characters would end up together. It seemed that the focus of the story was everywhere except on them. Him having a long-term relationship with his childhood friend made me even more scared because they lived together and were affectionate towards each other, so much that Maverick didn't even acknowledge Veronica's presence and she wasn't even bothered about it. So at that point I began to scratch my head and think what could possibly happen to rectify this feeling I got.
Thankfully there wasn't any cheating or any tragic involved and the story did pick up. I didn't like some of the choices heroine made. I understand that that was her defensive mechanism after very traumatic experience from the past but nevertheless it made her look insensitive and childish. Maverick was a sweetheart, really amazing and loving person. I just wish author introduced us to their inner thoughts at the beginning and made me feel like there is something, the chemistry that they both feel but not want to acknowledge it. It would made it more believable to me when that switch actually happened.
I did start feeling the chemistry between them but it wasn't anything special, but I guess it's better than nothing. This was a slow burn, it wasn't enemies to lovers for me but more friends to lovers. Fade to black sex scene did bother me a bit, after all the push and pull and anticipation. I liked how the story developed but I also think that he was so soon to forgive about her running away and he deserved more groveling from her. The epilogue was sweet but short.
Overally, the book was short and enjoyable and I really liked author's writing style.
Cheaters, All Of Them, And Selma Sticking Around With Her Trauma Bond With Maverick Is A Red Flag
Damn these shitheads are a bunch of gaslighters.
This asshole is still professing his love for OW at fifty percent of the way through this book.
Which means he is a cheater.
And emotional and social cheater.
And he and Selma have a lifelong unhealthu trauma bond.
Another redflag.
But this is what Neoliberal Fascist and Neoconservative Nazis, the Trauma Tourists, do, keep people starved and Comorbidly traumatised so you can accept being around him and his concubine.
But alas, Neurotypicals do these things, and pretend this is aithentic.
Chronic.
I hate him and I hate that she accepts this new trauma bond, as love when hes begging Selma to stay with him half way through the book.
But hey, thats the Pathetic Patriarchial Pick Mes for you, misogynistic and ableist.
She apparently has trauma but also has the memory of him with Selma.
Maybe she met Taylor Swift in an alleyway and had a white girl boss slay moment, where her trauma was simple and anexdotal, like a mans and affluent white womans.
But this is for the Unseen, Unloved and utterly Unfucked to feed on and enjoy a "healing" moment thats inauthentic and validates their world view, and the fact these mental health steps, make women iller.
WOW! This cover is gorgeous which one of the reasons why i was intrigued with this book. But the story was just so good! It didn’t take that long to get into this book maybe into chapter 2 or 3. It had me upset that i had to go to work instead of reading this book. The beginning of the book wasn’t what I was expecting especially with how Veronica was now thrown into the mix of things.
Veronica and Maverick were both people had troubled past one way or another. Yet, Veronica suffered much more than Maverick had intended. And theres something about Veronica that Maverick feels compelled to help her get to the person she knows she hides to be. Yes, Maverick has the hero tendency of wanting to save and protect everyone around him but he’s more than that. and i think thats what I loved reading about in his POV. He’s been the hero all his life yet with Veronica its different type of saving he does.
With Veronica she is just such a strong character and has definitely built a strong wall that she has promised not to let down. But again, with Maverick its different and she feels compelled to be friends with him and confide in which she hasn’t done in a long time. Each chapter you see her walls coming down for Maverick but also for the people who surround her.
Yes, this book is about love but much deeper of love, and what it truly means to be in love and the things one would sacrifice when someone does love someone.
“The pieces of my heart love the pieces of your heart. And I was wondering if, as we both fix ourselves, we could maybe mix our pieces together?”
Where do I start? I enjoyed the storyline of this book a lot and I absolutely love certain characters like Lily, Maverick, and even Aspen. However I realized my initial like for Veronica turned as she kept on with the self sabotage. I understand why, but I didn’t in the beginning. Maverick knows love but from a family/friendship perspective. However, Veronica knows the love of a partner and she’s lost that. I don’t want to spoil anything so I won’t get too far into that. But Veronica ms character made me want to bang my head against the wall with the way she punishes herself. The ending really was my favorite, partly because I was dying to see the growth and healing of these characters. Especially, Mavericks awareness that he can’t be the hero to fix everything. That really was the highlight of the book for me. I really enjoyed The Consequence of loving me, even if it made me want to pull my hair out at parts (and really what good book doesn’t). Also sorry for anything grammatical errors, I’m writing this at 3 am.
This book pulled at my heart strings. I didn’t know how much I was going to love it until I did. The way the fmc didn’t want to let love overcome her again, but she slowly let the mmc in… made me so happy. I’m so happy I read this book, especially after the past couple of reads i’ve had. This was the light at the end of the tunnel.
Veronica moves in with complete strangers on a whim at her college in order to get away from her controlling parents. One of her roommates, Aspen, adores her. Yet Maverick is the complete opposite and tries to stay away from her because he has a girlfriend. It isn’t until he sees little bits and pieces of her that she can’t hide that he slowly starts to like her more than he thought. And he gets broken up with and realizes he’s liked her all along. Meanwhile, Veronica is trapped by her inner thoughts and past demons and doesn’t want a relationship.
The second half of this book went so fast for me. I was reading every single word so fast in order to know what happens. I don’t think i’ve ever read a Kat book I haven’t liked, this one was no exception. I can’t wait to read book two.
College Roommates Artist Past relationship Past trauma
This is my first book by this author, and I enjoyed it for the most part.
I absolutely loved Maverick. I think I could've done without the Selma parts in the book, but I kind of understand why she had a place in here. I did struggle a little bit with that, though. However, he is exactly who Veronica needed.
Veronica was a little bit of a hot mess. I was pretty frustrated with her for a good bit because it was almost like she was trying to hard to be mean when you know she's not really like that deep down. But man towards the end of this book, the tears were flowing. That letter Maverick wrote broke my heart. Their speeches to one another towards the end, ugh, more tears.
It really flowed though and I couldn't put the book down. Excited to read about Aspen and Lily. And hopefully we get more with Veronica and Maverick.
“Because loving someone-even if there might be consequences-takes strength.”
Kat Singleton has such an incredible ability to write compelling, inspiring, and heartfelt stories that remain on my mind for a long time. The Consequence of Loving Me had me sitting in tears, with a box of tissues next to me. Veronica and Maverick’s story was just so beautiful.
My heart ached for Veronica as she attempts to overcome her grief and guilt. I absolutely loved how patient Maverick was with her and how he gave her enough space to heal before starting a relationship with her. Veronica’s character development is incredible as she finally begins to love and forgive herself for her past.
I really enjoyed reading and can’t wait to start Lily and Aspen’s book!
