Guys six feet and over have it made in the dating game
Girls? Not so much.
Most guys stay far the hell away from tall girls.
The ones who don’t? You’re getting the real bottom of the barrel dates:

The guy with the height fetish who kept trying to touch my feet.
The dude with mommy issues who burst into tears and cried on my shoulder.
The alphahole billionaire who needs a whole separate town car for his ego.

On first glance (an upward glance because he was TALL!) Greg Svensson seemed perfect.
Six-feet-five of solid muscle with washboard abs and a tower with his name on it, Greg was a guy my parents would actually begrudgingly admire.
I had our future all planned out.
Until he opened his mouth.
It was hate at first sight.

The only thing we have in common was that we’re both tall.
He wears bespoke suits.
I wear flats with holes in them.
He runs a big shot investment firm.
I’m trying to start my own company with only bubble gum and circus peanuts.
He likes to show up at my horrible dates and ruin them.
I…pretended I hated when he did that but secretly was thrilled even though it was a little young adult fiction.

Don’t judge!
Six foot tall beggars can’t be choosers.
Besides, just because I hate him doesn’t mean I won’t date him!

This is a prequel to the new Manhattan Svensson brother series. This enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy complete with all the sexy hotness on a six-foot-five stick, a heroine who is your new best friend, and all the laugh-out-loud moments that will make you choke on your wine!

Geeg'in babası bilmem kaçıncı eşiyle evli. Gerek yok!

Yazar diğer kardeşleri yazıp, bu çifti araya serpiştirip, final kitabına bırakacak sanırım. Yine tahammül edip okunur ama arka plan Svenssons tarafının temasını sevmedim 😅

This was bad. The blurb tempted me to read it but the book in itself was a mess. The chapters ended before they should, as if interrupted in the moment. That's one thing and the least of it. Greg was an asshole, there was no evolution to a guy who's fallen in love, changed his bad ways and saw things differently. Nope, he remained the asshole. And even worse was the heroine, the woman desperate to date so much that she hang onto him. He'd make a speech insulting her, her aspirations and goals, and in the end, she'd hold onto one word he said describing her as 'cute' or 'sexy'. I mean, everything else he said was insulting! It's as if she was deaf and he had a magical penis that he used whenever she might've been offended. He'd whip it out, she would swoon, forget the insults and have sex which made everything else OK.

This book was not ok. Reading it to the end was a pain. I felt like the old days when I read Wattpad and found an amateur writer who had good ideas but no clue how to put them together well. Just crammed it all in and messed it up, stereotypes about tall people and wealthy men, and many more. And her parents were unreal, cruel and just plain villainous. The only thing that was written well was the blurb but I regret picking this book up and I'm glad I read it for free, and didn't ultimately buy it like I thought to do.

When reading an "Enemies to Lovers" book, you either have the explosive enemies to lovers: 2 people have a valid reason to hate each other/ being in love borders on forbidden/ they seriously can kill each other and that type of animosity suits dark or drama heavy romance.

The second type is 2 people being enemies just for the kink of it meaning being enemies is like foreplay to them and that type suits fluffy humorous rom-coms. I like both of the types. The first is for angst heavy reads. The second is for joy and relaxation.

The couple in this book fall in the second category. Unfortunately, aside from their banter I hated the book and where it's heading. It turns out this is #0 in the series and you get to read about them again after the rest of the books because they met after 4 years separation. Even though the reason for their separation is 100% valid, I wasn't emotionally invested in them to complete their story.

Either way, this book ticked the box of a book with "enemies to lovers" trope in my Bingo Challenge of 2024 as well as served the same challenge directed at me by my dear friend Lori!

It ends in a Cliffhanger... sort of.

Greg is an imbecile and I really disliked how he behaved. And Belle just ignored every idiotic thing he said with a kiss!

[1’5/5] sorry but his book was horrible. Greg is a fucking misogynist, couldn’t stand him. I understand that was the point of his plot but... agh. And Belle... I like her more single please, she doesn’t need anyone to be happy and I just want her to see that. Don’t know if I want to continue these books... don’t care if Greg changes, I don’t want Belle with him and I’ll be disappointed if that happens. But in the other hand, I’m curious where Belle’s story is going.

This was absolutely wonderful! This prequel novella was the perfect blend of humor, romance, hot sparks and wicked banter to put a smile on my face and some swoon in my heart. I found Belle and Greg's story was an impossibly fun read. A bit cute and a bit sweet, this romantic romp was a simply delightful way to unwind, escape the real world and experience some very lovely feels. I eagerly look forward to reading more of this series. I am posting a unbiased, unsolicited review.

Squee! This is the cross-over book I’ve been waiting for. And it explains a whole lot about of some of the offhand comments in other books that feature Belle and Greg in supporting roles. Greg Svensson is the hero you love to hate, and I kind of think he enjoys living down to that reputation. Belle has been a bit of an enigma in her brothers’ books, so I loved getting this chance to learn what’s going on in her head, and heart. There is so much chemistry between these two, and much like Meg and Hunter, I’m sure a lot of it will be used for evil before they can get everything straightened out. Though, I’m completely “Team Belle” right now. I can’t wait to watch it all play out.

All the chapters are very rushed. The plot escalated quickly, quite crass and blunt content. Doesn't show progression of story. Book is jarring and disconnected. And very quickly halts to stop, ending on an awful end. Not even worth calling a cliff hanger.

I was disappointed, I was looking forward to this book and ended up not being happy with it.

I have nothing good to say about this book. I should’ve flown through it but getting through it was torture - the only reason it wasn’t a DNF for me was because I needed to read it for book club. Greg is a god awful man! I get leaving a story on a cliffhanger but you still need to have a little bit of closure and this has the most nonsensical, abrupt “ending.” Just bad.

After reading the first Svensson Brothers series, I was looking forward to diving into the Manhattan Brothers books!

I liked getting a glimpse at new characters and the start of Greg and Belle's story. They don't get their HEA, but I am sure we will get the rest of their romance.

Alina writes fun, and hilarious stories and this is no exception. I really enjoy picking up her books when I need a story that will literally make me laugh out loud. I can't wait for more from this series!

Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.

“Looks like you won a big investment deal, after all.”
“Martin and Todd liked my pitch.”
“I think they liked the brownies you sent over,” Greg said.

Ugh.

Belle and the Merman meet on the first day of a new year...What do the other 364 days have in store

The Hate Date is the prequel to the Manhattan Svensson brother series. This story is a wonderfully funny love/hate romance. It is about Belle Frost and Greg Svensson, both of which are tall, tall and tall. But that is not all as Belle is the oldest sibling to five younger brothers. On New Year's Day Belle is out jogging when she sees a man in the Hudson River when she notices him bobbing along going underwater. She yells at him but when he does not acknowledge her she jumps in to save the drowning man. A dig into his sternum with her knuckles to stun him has him roaring at her. It turns out that he is not actually drowning but had a breathing regulator. Well this is awkward and about to get even more when he swims with her to shore only to discover she only has on her bra and panties. Greg is a billionaire who owns a building in Manhattan and runs a very successful company which has a number of successful businesses. Greg is the oldest of six brothers, Greg, Beck, Mike, Walker, Liam and Carl, but they also have a lot of half brothers, as their father was a polygamist cult-leader who had a lot of wives. Most of his half brothers live a couple hours away in the town of Harrogate. Belle is the opposite of Greg in a lot of ways and that makes things interesting and at times funny between them. They end up in a love/hate relationship with a lot of witty banter and fun situations.
I enjoyed this first book the new series about another family of Svensson brothers. This time they are taking Manhattan by storm with Greg leading the way, if reluctantly. I am looking forward to reading the rest of this series to see what happens with the other brothers and what type of women they end up falling for.

I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

First off let me say Ms. Jacobs is the Bomb! These books are so much fun to read. They are so easy going, layed back, light, lots of back and forth squabbles and fun jabs with the characters, and the chemistry is like bubbling off the chart. This is Greg’s story where he has a run in with Belle, the ever so tall for a girl Belle, straight up six foot tall that has had a tough home life pretty much belittled and abused by her rich and medically famous parents her entire life. Belle ended up having to give up all her hopes and dreams because her parents were never around and since she was the oldest of the children it was her that raised her younger five brothers that all went on to become very wealthy successful billionaires on their own. When she was finally able to go on a date most of the time they were shorter than she and they had some sort of sick issue of some kind or other. Then along came Greg on Six-Foot-Five solid muscle of a man with washboard abs and as gorgeous as sin. He just might be the perfect one that maybe even her parents might even consider passable…Until he opens his mouth. The dude was Rude. A Billionaire. Wore amazing clothes and looked amazing in them. He was the top dog of his own Financial Investment Company. What could he possibly see in Belle? So sit back with your glass of beverage of choice, relax and read this wonderful story, its filled with plots, ploys, tricks, schemes, banter, comedy, anger, tears, happiness, sadness, and an all around fun read. I absolutely adore the works of this author and am always looking and anxious for new and more. You won’t be disappointed. I received an Advance Reader's Copy and am voluntarily leaving my honest thoughts and opinions.

This is shit.
The plot is the same throughout every single one of Alina jacobs books with friendly and extremely optimistic fmc’s who own/work in small-town restaurants, cafés,hotels and are drowning in credit card debt.
And then there’s the billionaire. The man who comes and solves all thier problems by just snapping their fingers.
The worst part is there is no variety. the guys are all duplicates of each other.
There is no order or sequence or storyline the entire thing is just fucking chaos.
And 99% percent of the time the guy does something shitty and then to make up for it he either buys expensive shit like buildings or offers his house as a permanent residence. And the girl just agrees.
These are literally the worst romance book I have ever read
But.
I started reading this series during Covid and the quarantine and at that time my Netflix account needed a new payment so I was desperate for a new method of entertainment. Naturally I resorted to impulsively downloading fantasy/contemporary/small-town romance books off kindle unlimited.
That is when I discovered Alina Jacobs and yes I read almost all of her books.
looking back I don’t regret my life choices these novels have created many memories of staying up till 4 and laughing in my pillow and throwing the kindle on the bed during the cringy scenes and internallly screaming while shipping the two characters together and shouting at the fmc when she does something stupid which was all the time
I stand by what I said. There is no plot the books are chaos everything’s cliche but it has a lot of funny scenes witty comments flirty banter and there’s always a chemistry between the characters which is why it succeeded in providing a relief from life.
It’s still the worst romance book I’ve ever read but because I kinda went through a Alina Jacobs phase and there was once a time when I was obsessed with these really really badly written books I’m giving it 4.9 stars

Overall, a fun, easy read. It's outrageous, don't read it for realism lol. There were many times I rolled my eyes at the insanity of the scenarios, but like, not in a bad way? I read the whole thing in less than a day. **NOT A HEA**

Read for:
• billionare investor, Alphahole MMC
• FMC trying to make her own way
• insane family drama with a bazillion brothers
• hate-to-infatuation (I'm not really considering it love yet)
• moderate spice

This world of brothers is apparently gigantic, and this was the first book I read, so I definitely have to figure out where to go from here. It ends on a cliffhanger, but is also a pretty satisfactory conclusion, so if you don't need a HEA, you could possibly read it as a stand-alone? On its own, it's a victorious story of a new women's investment firm sticking it to a sexist jerk. No complaints with that. But just know that there is a "to be continued..."

As the story continues later, I hope to see the grovel of all grovels from the MMC, because seriously, dude was a gigantic A-hole. I'm not entirely convinced I'll root for him, but I DO want to find out if Alina Jacobs works a miracle and changes my mind, so I plan to keep reading.

Belle's parents are incredibly awful. Definitely interested to see what misfortune is in store for them.

The "next" book is about a different couple, so I don't know if you could just read Belle and Greg's books for their story, or if they're so interconnected that you have to read the other brothers' also. I have to figure it out 😅

I kind of loved this story. It was entertaining and enjoyable while both cracking me up and/or frustrating me. The characters were interesting and likable for the most part. Belle and Greg have things in common but are mostly different. Those differences draw them together but also cause issues that become drama and angst. Both of them enjoyed the height of the other as it made them feel like they fit together. Belle had wonderful friends in Emma and Dana. They were supportive but also pushed her to do things that she wasn't sure about. Greg had quite a variety of brothers and they were all over the place from supportive to not so much. Belle and Greg had a great start to a real relationship but Greg definitely undervalued Belle's abilities. Belle had her own insecurities. Between the two of them, their "baggage" wasn't insurmountable but it was enough to put a MAJOR damper on things. I liked how the story ended, but I definitely need more! I recommend reading this book that is the start of Belle and Greg's journey.

Belle is very tall, six feet tall to be precise, and it doesn't make dating easy. Her friend insists she attend a speed dating event, she reluctantly agrees knowing she'd never her the end of it if she doesn't go. It's going as badly as she thought it would, she didn't think it could get any worse, then it does, he shows up. The guy she thought was drowning in the river, he wasn't, but he didn't have to be so awful about it, it was and honest mistake. Greg Svensson doesn't have time for dating, but a potential client is attending a speed dating event, so he goes hoping to convince the man to choose his investment company to handle his money. It's as bad as he thought it would be, then the crazy woman who tried to rescue him from the river shows up, it just got worse. Or did it?
Laugh-out-loud funny romantic comedy with absolutely wonderful, compelling, and I think, realistic characters. A fantastic read with unexpected twists, I loved it.

This book is the introduction to the Manhattan Svenssons and to Belle and Greg as a couple. Since I'd read Book 1 about the Manhattan Svenssons (I Hate, I Bake and I Don't Date) before this one, it wasn't a surprise that this one ended with a cliffhanger. I totally understand the readers who are put off by the fact that this one has a cliffhanger ending. I don't care for those either, and think that information should always be included in the book blurb as a warning. That being said, this story does have a good plot and you do get invested in the romance of Belle and Greg. I do want to see them attain their HEA, but Greg does need to mature more and lose his sexist views while Belle will hopefully continue growing into a strong, independent woman who knows her own worth. It is refreshing to see a heroine who refuses to be defined by other people's views/expectations and boldly go after her goals. As a side note, Greg's brothers and his interactions with them definitely add humor to the story and Belle's parents are disgusting.

ARC received from Booksprout and author in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed are my own and have not been influenced in any way.

Alina Jacobs sure knows how to write a laugh out loud ROM / COM and in this case it’s definitely an apt title for The Hate Date!

What I loved :

Cute cover - Just because I hate you doesn’t mean I won’t date you !
Great characters in Belle and Greg. ( lots of great secondary characters too )
Loved the concept of going on a “Hate Date” - make the date be all about things both characters “hate”
Sizzling chemistry
Smart , feisty and very TALL heroine

This book is the beginning of a new series and is not a standalone! Can’t wait to see if Greg and Belle continue their hating ways -I’m pretty sure Greg is going to need to do some effective groveling and learn some better ways to express himself that won’t get him into trouble ….

Great funny read - loved it !!

1 🌟- Ugh nothing about either of the POV protagonists was likeable, their characters were over the top and very tropey and two dimensional. Not to mention it ends on a low key cliffhanger, with a happily never after that it seems won’t be addressed until the final book in the series!

There was no reason for either character to like the other and the male protagonist in particular was a misogynist douche of the higher order who constantly demeaned and condescended to his love interest as if he was living his 50s era Madmen fantasy.

The female protagonist annoyed me because she was supposed to be a feminist, but for the most part it was performative and when a douche calls her beautiful and says he wants to look after her she swoons, even after he denigrates her intelligence and ability to work. Cue severe eye rolling! I have the first full novel on my TBR, not sure I want to read on after this experience.

Fantastic Romantic Comedy!

If you love tall, blonde, grey eyed billionaires, this is the book for you. Meet Greg the eldest of the Manhattan Svenssons. He is th king of his world and has no plans of ever marrying. So when he needs to get an in with the latest billionaire trust fund he agrees to go to a speed dating event to try to develop a friendship with the man. But then he meets his match in Belle Frost. She has had it with men telling her what to do. And has no problem going toe to toe with Greg. And so their story begins. I love how she gets the better of him. And how clueless he is about women. He just can’t help putting his foot in his mouth. Alina Jacobs has created a complex and vivid family history for the Svenssons. And I read this one in one night. I can hardly wait for the next installment. I did receive an advance copy for my honest review.

I love being back in this world with all these wonderful characters. I like Belle and feel for her, she had a hard time growing up and had to become responsible so early. Her parents are just so terrible I cannot get over how awful they are to her. I loved all of the dates and the speed date events, it was so funny. Then we have Greg the fierce, angry, sexy, shark that became a romantic softy with Belle. I enjoyed how he kept interrupting any date she was on and I really liked how he treated her when others were so mean to her.
Possible spoiler:

Unfortunately things then took a turn for the worse and Greg underestimated Belle and did not stand up and tell others no when he should have, which ended up ruining everything. I actually feel really sad for both of them and I’m curious to see what happens next.

I absolutely love the world that Alina has created. It is witty, dramatic, over-the-top and just plain fun! After getting to know all of these characters, I am so excited to see what is in store for the Manhattan Svensson brothers. You get glimpse of Belle and Greg in the other stories, but this prequel starts off the series with a bang! I am so team team Belle right now and really want to see her come into her own. It was good to see a different side of Greg, but I wanted him work for it a little more and now he will! I am sure we will see these two go head to head in this series, but I just hope their story does not go on as long as Hunter's and Meg's. Don't get me wrong I like the long game, but I am so excited to see the grouchy Greg finally get his story.

Excellent romantic comedy
I loved this romantic comedy, with Belle who is a giant in the eyes of men, but she assumes it, and at the same time, she has to do with, who has a good heart, but who makes the mistake of wanting to save a stranger , Greg, from water, when he didn't need her.
Greg's brothers are just as funny in their invasive, straightforward side, while he is condescending.
Their encounters are only a succession of misunderstandings, conflicts, but also as they gradually, attraction.
The only negative is that the story is a prequel and it ends on a cliffhanger, well placed for this series, which is very well written, hot, humorous and hard to stop once I started to read it.
